Second month should begin tomorrow or Monday… looking forward to seeing if I get the bonus 30k points with the first month's 30k.
Got $3500 in Pay in 4 payments to make which I'll just process on the 13th to meet the second month.

I have been charged the $74 annual fee though so it shouldn't be too long.

At least with my first month confirmed to have ended, i can process all the bills i have due in the next few days and also put through the Pay in 4 payments i have outstanding.

I received my 60k for the Westpac Altitude Velocity Platinum today. Just curious if I need to keep the card open to receive the bonus 30k. Would like to churn another card as soon as possible.
I wouldn't risk closing the card and losing out on the bonus 30k points.

I received my second statement for virgin card and only received the base 30k points. I contacted velocity via chat and they advised I should wait 10-12 weeks after the first statement date (ie 13th July). If bonus points don’t land, then contact them again… last time I applied for this offer in Dec-23, the points were allocated after first statement. 🤔
T&Cs say 60 days. They don't specify business days, but if they are, then yeah, up to 12 weeks :(
Yeah, last time I got those points with the first statement too.
Maybe they've changed when they distribute the extra points in a ploy to stop people from churning as soon as possible. Either way, I need to wait a while to get the extra 5k points from Virgin Money so I guess I'm using this card for a while.

Just calculated 12 weeks from the date of my first statement… I'm gonna be waiting till possibly 4th November.
Hopefully there's enough time for me to cancel and reapply if there's another 30k points deal going on.
Getting 95k points will now be a 4 month cycle. Yeah, I think I'll be holding onto a Bendigo Ready permanently and then churning this card twice a year when there's a 30k bonus points deal. Combined with points from my spending, I'll be earning 200k points per year with only a $74 fee and $129 travel credit each application.
what is 'this card'? there are like 7 cards listed on the deal.

I didn't say $74/yr… said $74 with each application so the $148/yr you mentioned.
As for bonus points, don't forget the 5k points offered by Virgin Money if you wait to apply… that's 95k bonus points per application and I'm estimating at least 5k points from spending on the card, thus 100k per application or 200k per year.

In theory we should be able to because the extra 30k should come from Velocity, not Virgin Money. But I don't want to risk it.

I can tell you now my housemates got his bonus points after 4-5 weeks after his Virgin cc application. So it might be that we’ve missed the promo. There’s no way to check which makes it annoying.
Crowing's comment a bit further up explains that he called velocity and they advised it will take 10-12 weeks after the first statement date (though his was the Velocity Flyer from the look of things).

I'd say it's to stop people from churning credit cards too quickly.
Assuming it comes 10-12 weeks after the first statement, that's ~4 months we'd need to hold onto the card.

Have you and your partner previously applied and got the bonus points? The reason I’m asking is that I told my friend was awarded the bonus 30k points shortly after the first statement (virgin money). This was the first time he got the bonus via velocity.
I got the bonus points when the promotion was on late last year. I haven’t received my points yet (2nd statement has passed) so wondering if velocity are excluding those who already been awarded in previous campaign (even though nothing in T’s and C’s suggest this).
Anyways I followed up again last week and they raised a ticket to the relevant department that deals with points. Will hopefully get some clarity later this week and will keep you posted on their response.

I think they do them in batches, as I know 3 people that got the 30k bonus mid monthly cycle on 'Aug 8th'. All 3 got them between statement 1 and 2. All 3 had different statement end dates.
Someone above mentioned receiving them on Aug 8th.
I'm still waiting from July. 1st statement from Westpac card hit on 11th July and been exactly 8 weeks since then with no sign of 30k bonus.

yeah that's the hope. Past experience was excellent as 30k bonus points came with the 1st statement but that was with the Virgin issued card.

Nobody really knows and not likely anyone is going to be the guinea pig to test the scenario.

You don’t need to keep it open. I closed mine last year and still received the 30k bonus.
Got my 30k + 30k points from two months of Virgin Money. Still no signs of the bonus 30k… my mate who hasn't applied for the promo before has received his 30k bonus from Velocity, before he received is 30k from Virgin Money!

I just spent 45 minutes on the line with the Manilla VFF team. This is what I gathered:
Card can be closed and Velocity will receive notification bonus point can be allocated from the credit card provider. The uncertainty is if the process is automatic or if manual follow up is required as vff will see the card as closed. However I was told as long as you meet the spend requirements plus wait 12 weeks then you have complied for bonus point eligebility and an enquiry should be raised for missing points.
Because calls are recorded, they have a record of my query and I can recite the date/time for them to look at (but who listens to a 45 minute conversation?) but they also take notes on your vff account. I called just before their lines closed so every other team was already shut for the day and couldnt get written confirmation for peace of mind.
Im already invested in this and will call back tomorrow to get something in writing. Logically speaking is does make sense you dont need to keep othe card open for the sake of it- your vff is recorded for each promotion you enter, the credit card company would have taken your vff details to know where to credit their separate promotional points to. This clearly would link the card you had to the vff account that bonus points are to be allocated to.
I would be content with closing my card after vff email me some sort of acknowledgement of my enquiry.

I personally need to hold onto the card for another 1-1.5 months to get the extra 5k points that Virgin Money have offered so won't be closing any time soon. My second statement will be in a week or so.
still risky imo! but getting it in writing is probably the least you need.
On a follow up phone call the velocity rep rechecked the T&c's and again agreed whilst there is no condition to keep the card open would advise to keep it open so points can land in your account. As someone who churns, this felt restrictive against my preferences when there is no stipulation. We agreed that the call recording and notes on my velocity account would support that if no points are credited after 12 weeks to call and follow up. For me it's worth being able to churn another Velocity Flyer card with a few months between than a seamless bonus points process.
Hope it works out and you get the points hassle free after closing.
I'm currently waiting for a Bendigo Ready application to be processed (2-3 week backlog) so it was a good time for me to hold onto the Velocity Flyer anyway even for the 5k points Virgin Money promised me. With some luck, in 2 months' time, we'll have another 30k bonus velocity points promo and we'll do it all again!
I got the Bendigo card as well since Bankwest TI got fully nerfed for overseas spend but will rely on the HSBC Premier for insurance (same underwriter, Allianz [brilliant, had 3 claims and 3 quick payouts] but HSBC appears better in terms of payout coverage and excesses) I had to call VM and lodged a complaint as my 5k pts were never honoured btw. Once a complaint was registered I had a case manager promptly rectify.
Yeah I think I got lucky with my VM app being approved with barely 2 months between closing the former.
@txb: How did you lodge a complaint to chase your 5k points? I've been chasing mine for the past 4 weeks calling them every week and all I get was it will be credited on my next statement.

Spend Criteria met on 11th July - got the WPC SUB on 11th Jul.
Virgin Money have reduced their interest free period from 55 days to 44 days. It might be worth using that to request cancellation and an annual fee refund (at least pro-rata) once the points finally come through.
Did you close the card, rec'd any pro rata refund?
I've requested a pro-rata refund due to the terms and conditions changing on Nov 5.
Second batch of 30k points from the Velocity Flyer came through so I've contacted Velocity and Virgin Money to see where the remaining points are:
Virgin Money initiated the crediting of the bonus 5k velocity points when I was over the phone with them. Now to see when I get those points.
Velocity gave me that spiel about 10-12 weeks from when the card partner credits me with the bonus points that usually comes with the card. I still have a bit of a wait since I'm not even half way through that period as yet.
But I should be OK to cancel by mid Nov and reapply by December assuming another round of bonus points is running then.
My Bendigo Ready credit card still isn't here so I will need the Velocity Flyer atm.
I received the following response from the Velocity agent.
** Thank you for the confirmation. As per Terms & Conditions, please allow 10-12 weeks from the date your 30K Bonus Points from your credit card have been added on your Velocity account, 5th of September
If after 10-12 weeks no credit of 30K Bonus Points is added on your account, chat us back so we can escalate it to the relevant team.**
Hopped on live chat and got the same 10-12 week response. However, they did say FWIF "The points will only be allocated if the card is active within the turn around time of the points allocation.".
I have canceled the card already as there are no mentions of require keeping the card open until the bonus point arrives. Let’s see how’s it go, still a few days until 12 weeks since I got the first statement.
Oh boy, quite a few people are gonna be annoyed about that bit about the card being active still.
Though, sunny007's post below seems to indicate that Velocity will check with Virgin Money that one is still an active customer before applying the 30k points.

Getting to do this twice a year is effectively getting a free card churn in.
FWIW live chat is full of chit. T&C of the bonus promo mentions nothing of the sort. Card does not need to be kept open. You may need to follow up at the worst.

Reading the comments above it seems the bonus 30k points from these campaigns is either once per 12 months or once per card type.
They've run this campaign twice in the past 12 months.
But whether you can claim it twice in the space of a year remains to be seen. It's too early to jump to conclusions. There's nothing in the T&Cs about not being able to get it twice in a year considering this campaign and the previous one are two separate campaigns. We're just going to have to see if people start getting points at the 10-12 week mark as Velocity has advised to pretty much everyone that has contacted them.
But for the same campaign, you will only be able to get this once… you can try to open up different cards but only one will get it.
I’ll hit the 12 week mark since WPC credited the points and signup bonus on Wed. No 30k points here yet.
