bring back the 10% off ffs.

    • Yeah exactly

    • May be soon (August).

    • yeah, bring back free money.
who wants to work for it anyway?

      • Why did humans create work… and time… all a human construct

    • -2

Even at 5% we probably will take it.

      • +1

        You are the problem

    • Yeah what chewieeez said!! ‼️‼️

  • +8

With the risk of getting the cards hacked, not really worth it.

    • +21

      Yes - not for everyone.
For me, i need to pay the ATO.
I can either transfer the cash direct and get nothing
Or buy these with a plat edge amex and get 3 points per dollar for 0.20%

3,000 amex points for $2 (for $1k for example) is worth the risk (and time taken processing cards) to me

      • +2

Is it not 1 point per dollar? Or is giftcards.com.au considered a super market?

        • +6

Comes through as Coles spend - giftcards.com.au run by coles

      • +1

        What about B2bpay?
Works well for me with credit card bonuses

      • How do you spend them exactly? Bit dificult to spend exact amount of the each Giftcard on purchases

        • Bit dificult to spend exact amount of the each Giftcard on purchases

What's so hard about charging the exact amount you the gift card?

      • +3

When paying for government charges and the ATO. You have to pay credit card surcharge fee, below is the fee for the ATO

        American Express 1.45%
        MasterCard – International 1.99%
        MasterCard – Domestic Debit 0.20%
        MasterCard – Domestic Credit 0.72%
        Visa – International 1.99%
        Visa – Domestic Debit 0.40%
        Visa – Domestic Credit 0.80%

Whereas Bpay or bank transfer there’s no fee.

Are you really saving anything? I’m curious if it was me I would pay cash or transfer instead of using credit card. Maybe my maths is off.

    • +3

      buy then use them directly.
      Such as pay the bills.
      No risk of being hacked

      • +2

What he said, use straight away :)

    • +1

      Thanks, ive edited that!

      • Thanks! What do you mean by "Note the details on home page have wrong dates - correct terms appear when you select one of the cards for purchase."

  • Why not selling $400+ denomination?

    • +1

Probably the same reason they don't sell $300+ denomination

    • Is there a card surcharge using Coles Mastercard Digital GC?

      • +3

        yes, 0.4% for deft payment

  • +1

    Offer available from 3/7/24 9am. Offer ends 30/9/24 5pm

@WookieMonster Would it mean no chance of 10% off until after 30/9/24? This is offered for longer (3 months) compared to previous offer in March (about 3.5 weeks): https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/834101

Just in time for tax bills for those who are seeking points for ATO spend.

    I just use iTunes cards…

    • +2

I save my iTunes cards for when Raj at Microsoft support asks for them, but whatever works for you.

  • Can these be used at aldi?

    • No physical card and can't add to phone.

      I doubt that.

    • +1

Unless the cashier is willing to enter the card number manually, I managed to pay the childcare fee using this card by following this method.

    • +1

Hmmm…might be able to use it to buy a supershop gift card that can be used at Aldi (or whatever it's called) from Shopback (might need to go via PayPal).

  • If I may ask - not sure if illegal.. As a PAYG, can I ask HR to not withhold any taxes and I pay ATO myself at the end of the tax year?

    • +3

Not illegal to ask but the answer is for sure no. Govt always wants to be paid first. It’s blasphemy for you to even think about getting paid first from your hard work.

      • thank you for your quick reply. How about asking for a lower tax bracket to be deducted first? Is that possible, do you know?

        • +2

You can read more about it here : https://www.ato.gov.au/individuals-and-families/jobs-and-emp…

It sounds like a lot hoops to get it through and you must have substantial amount of evidence to support the application as to why should your tax withholding be reduced.

          • @Eugklng: Yeah I tried getting a change in myGov and eventually gave up filling the form

            • @FatTofu: Its all by design and it looks like it worked well !

        • Yes you can, but you need to do it via ATO not HR. Just fill in the form.

    • Government won't even allow you to pay your rental income at the end of the year. I once had six months of rental income on a place before moving into as PPOR. Paid my tax, then got harassed by the ATO the next year for instalments on non-existent income.

      • +1

The next time you are sent your PAYG thing, go into the tax portal and click the link that says you don't need to pay and give them your reason.

    • Jeez. Can’t imagine why ATO doesn’t usually allow this.

    • The few exceptions will be things like if you a partner in a firm and you are structured in a way that your 'salary' is managed via a disbursement from the firm to a trust that you have set up, all the money is given to you (including super) and you manage the whole PAYG tax thing yourself. It's great if you have offset accounts etc.

  • Pay $1 to get $1. Doesn't sound like a good deal. If want to Pay ATO and collect those points, probably easier to pay via Zip Pay.

    • -4

Zip pay doesnt count for points

      • +3

I've been clocking up points paying zip pay bills on my cc.

        • +1

Some cards do points for BPay to zip, these days many don't

      • +1

Counts for me on ANZ Rewards Black

    • +1

Makes sense if you’re using Amex to collect points

  • +3

Can you actually pay ATO or is this a long running joke. I’ve been afraid to ask. If so why is it better?

    • +6

Yes you can as these are just like credit cards.

People use this because if you pay directly to ATO using your credit card, you won't get any points. So by buying these cards using your credit card, you get the points and then use them to pay ATO.

But I think its probably easier to just use zip pay to pay ATO bills and still get those credit card points.

      • Thank you. Appreciate the response. That does make sense!

      • +3

Also, the credit card surcharge to pay the ATO using a premium card will be much higher than the surcharge to pay using one of these.

      • +1

Plus quite often these deals actually 'make' us some money (or really some savings) via things like 5-10% in Woolworths rewards etc. It is also good if you are planning to get a new CC and you have one of those 'spend $3000 in 90 day' targets to hit.

    • +3

You can pay ATO using the 250 card but less the 0.50 fee. 249.50. Cheaper fee than using credit card.

Only make sense if there is a discount on gift card.

    • +2

A word of warning, while it's fine to pay any debts do NOT pay your ATO account into credit. My return was on hold for 3+ months last year until they could refund the gift card payment back to the gift card.

  • Can we use this to pay for VIC land tax with SRO?

  • +1

I got the card hacked last time, took $40 off from 1 of my card and can't be bothered to appeal, not worth it when there is nothing to be saved.

    • Their tos says no recovery of losts funds or what not anyway aye

  • +1

    Actually this one is bad.

    1. No discount.

    2. Can't either to use on physical pad nor add it into phone e-wallet.

    Got trapped.

    • +2

Thanks, I was very close to buying this until I realised that it can't be added to the phones e-wallet

  • +2

Is buying something without a fee considered to be a new type of bargain?

    • +1

yes, In case you need to give as a gift.

      • +3

@Brakus I wouldn't recommend this as a gift as the card is hacked easily and is best spent asap within a few days at most.

    • +3

      Depends on the use case.
This works well if you want to convert your Amex Money to Mastercard Money and use it almost anywhere online + earn points on Amex Credit Cards.
I mostly use it for ATO payments.

      • You're clearly mixing up Bonus and Bargain.
"Bargain is a thing bought or offered for sale much more cheaply than is usual or expected"
Your AMEX points are a Bonus, which you gain by spending extra time going through these conversions. Therefore this deal not a bargain per se.

  • Transaction failed with amex, anyone succeeded?

    • I do.

Instant regret to find out it can't be add into Apple Pay.

  • +2

    25% OFF
    10% OFF
    20x Rewards Pts
    No Purchase Fees

    …what's next?
$110 cash for $100 Gift Cards?

    This is NOT a bargain.

    • -7

well said …. not a bargain. Mods please remove the post

  • +3

lol digital cards should never have a purchase fee. This ain't a deal mate.

  • +13

DO NOT BUY THESE. If hardly anyone buys, then they will offer a better promo.

    • +1

"To help with cost of living" was the reason they offered the discounts previously. What's next?

      • -3

No one want to help with cost of living. It is just a marketing technique to make people use this prepaid cards.

What difference does it make if you are using a debit card and this one.
        1. Use your bank debit card and you bank will not charge for balance inquiry but this one does charge for every balance inquiry.
        2. Use your bank debit and if there is a fradulent charge you can charge back but with this card you have to jump through the hoops and pay as well for every phone calls.

Verdict : No - unless it comes with 10% off then there is some benefit ( generally 7% after the activation fee) dont bother buying

        • This one charges for every balance enquiry?

  • +6

How is it any different from using my credit card?

    • Its for gifting unless you want to share your card around.

      • +3

@boomramada Not recommended for gifting as this card is hacked easily and is best used as soon as possible.

    • +1

To meet min spend requirements for bonuses + getting points by paying for these using a credit card.
