    No way and not again…..

  • Thankfully I got my $900 back from the first time. Given the speedy refund with little more than making a phone call (several days later) I might be keen to try again for a similar deal. But this one isn't much of a deal to me…

  • I got 2 no issues last time and the time before. can confirm BOQ cards work no issues

Why they think they can get an interest-free loan with some awful service while all others have to pay at least 5%+ a year?

If you're paying a card surcharge for using a Coles Mastercard you're probably paying it for using any other kind of points earning card too. At least with these you can earn points on an AmEx or other premium points card and then pay a lower fee with these at a business that doesn't take AmEx.

My work gift card portal actually charges a variable fee based on if you have a premium points earning credit card vs a regular credit card and doesn't charge any fee to use these. In theory I could use my AmEx to buy these for full points, no fees and then use these on the portal with no fees for a double dip on points and gift card portal savings.

It's a deal for specific use cases like meeting minimum spends or earning points on otherwise ineligible purchases but it's just not an upfront discount.

  • Not for me personally, but I can see where it might be benefitial for some.

  • right…no thanks

Its good to pay for subscriptions or purchases from websites that you don't necessarily want other people to know you buy from.

    • Am I thinking what your thinking? :)

    • Only I am a Fan of this comment…

    No

  • I remember making this comment last year (amongst many others) that Coles should consider waiving the fees. Seems interesting how the financial administration of this scheme works now.

  • I would say that they should permanently waive it as a bare minimum, otherwise doesn't make sense to use it.

well it doesnt make sense to use card to pay for card as well when it actually sort of like cash advance from credit card

i don’t generally neg deals, but you’re better off paying $1 for an Activ Visa with possible 3% ShopBack that can be added to your mobile wallet, and so used in-person/store - ends today

    Also risk of getting hacked!

  • Hopefully next deal will be 10% off and no card purchase / activation fee!

  • Thanks but no!

This is not really a good bargain, even if it's waiving purchase fees. It is one when it's 10% off, not this. There is almost zero utility in getting this versus just keeping it in cash, which is even more liquid, and it loses out vs credit cards, which accumulates points. In short, little to no benefit except for a small sliver of people, and even then, you're better off waiting for the next 10% off deal, certainly not this rubiish gesture. Imagine if everyone goes for this, there would be little to no incentive for any further 10% deals any more too.

  • no… not a bargain at all.

DO NOT BUY unless you use it within a day from purchase!
There is a high chance of these cards being hacked.
I have been waiting full 90 days for them to approve the re-issue of the hacked card and it has already been another 30 days since they supposedly sent it to me (they said it would take up to 29 business days to receive new card).
I am also waiting for their 'resolution' in regards to another hacked card. It has been two and a half months since my claim. They are clearly taking their time.

    • It just starts new sale to collect fund to pay for loss.

  • I always seem to get transaction failed using my ANZ, Commbank and NAB card during checkout.

Called the NAB bank and was told they don't see any attempts of transaction so they're not blocking the purchase.

Does their payment process for this website giftcards have issues?

    • Why bother? Go for in-store sale this week.

  • Probably a niche but can be considered for those who will use the GCs immediately to make payment to processors that charge high fees for your high points earning credit cards.

E.g. for DEFT, Amex incurs 1.5% surcharge, but 0.4% surcharge for the Coles Prepaid Mastercards. As the retailer is recognised as Coles, depending on the Amex card the user may be eligible for higher points earning.
