Maybe targeted, nothing from my challenges.

    • That would be disappointing, have you tried restarting the app?

      • +1

I don't have this either and I restarted the app

    • I don’t have too

  • -2

Also don’t have. Must be targeted.

Also the 6% is only on the 50, 100, 150 or 200 value card option

    • +1

That's too bad, consider reporting it as targeted.

The $250 can be in one or multiple transactions.

  • does it really combine with the 6% cashback? i bought $150 + $100 gift cards, hasn't trigger the $20 bonus yet.

    • +2

If I read it correctly a total of 250 will qualify for the offer.

    • Not sure as the 'Shop Now' button from the challenge directs you to shell gift cards with only 1.5% cashback

  • +1

It’s also listed under the gift cards tab

    • Good catch, forgot about this.

      • The challenge? Or the 6%?

        • +1

Both. The 6% would be in the banners and under Top Deals.

          • @Hiphopopotamus: @Hiphopopotamus - when I click shop now from challenge page - It takes to 1.5% cash back page

Are sure if we can combine both. We cana enroll in the challenge first and then can go through gift cards page for up size cash back

            • +1

@Shad: Based on past deals stacking has never been an issue, the challenge says Valid for Shell Gift Cards purchased at ShopBack Gift Cards.

Let's try getting the rep in here anyway to confirm @gotyourback

              • @Hiphopopotamus: Do you know if I use the Plus $5 off monthly discount does the spend count as $250 or $245?

                • +1

@sub102: Good question, in the past it has counted.

But do you really want to risk it? Consider buying $5 in Giveaway Entries instead and getting 100% cashback.

                  • @Hiphopopotamus: Ah thanks didn't know about it. Hopefully the 100% cashback there is calculated from $5 and not $0

                  • @Hiphopopotamus: Hold on. So i can buy with my credit card and then get 100% Cashback after 2 days in my Shopback account?

                    • +1

@digitalane: Yep. There are purchase limits but yeah, you can use it for meeting CC spend.

  • Is it about 14% Off?

    • +1

      ~12.3% off.

      • I worked it out to be 14%. $20 in bonus and $15 at 6% =$35. 35/250 = 14%

        • I think they do 250/285=12.28%, because you don't pay less just get more credits. I consider it's the same so 14% seems to be a decent discount haha

          • +3

            @SmallBigCat: You don’t spend $285 only $250.

It’s not like getting a bonus $20 or $35 shell card where you have to spend the $250 and $35 at shell =$285.

With all the troubles explaining bonus value and percentages, this is NOT the same. The discount is a neat 14%

            • @Coops1: You're paying $250 for $285 value, which equals ~12.3% off.

Cashback is not the same as a straight discount, the first question was Is it about 14% Off?

              14% off $285 value is $245.10.

              • +4

                @Hiphopopotamus:

                You're paying $250 for $285 value…

On the face of it, this is correct. But that extra $35 value does not have to be taken as an additional gift card for a future spend. It’s literally a cashback which can be withdrawn to a bank account in a matter of days. Hence it can be considered a discount off the price paid, i.e. $215 effectively paid for $250 of actual gift card value.

                Adding:

Cashback is not the same as a straight discount…

Again, technically correct, but people asking about discounts are generally interested in the effective discount where cashbacks are concerned, particularly ones like these that pay out quickly.

                • +1

@moonbeam: You know what, I have never considered it that way. You make a strong point.

What is cashback if not a discount with extra steps.

  • Wonder if I can use them to buy colesmyer gift cards like I did with the one from the Zip deal. Hmm

    • -3

You can but staff can be difficult if you let on your using a gift card

      • +1

If it's in your Google wallet they have no way of knowing how you paid ;)

        • +1

Exactly. Had a friend do it but staff saw screen and refused

  • +3

I wonder I’m excluded because I previously bought shell cards (last week)

    • Yes

    • I haven't bought Shell gift cards for a few months and still excluded.

  • Is this similar to 7/11 giftcard which is just a visa prepaid card and can be used at any petrol stations?

    • +3

      No.

Shell eGift Cards are prepaid Visa gift cards that can only be used at participating Shell service stations.1

The Shell eGift Card itself is functionally a digital Ultimate gift card that has been set up to only work at these participating Shell service stations. Ultimate gift cards work at a retailer by checking the reported EFTPOS terminal information to see whether it matches a known EFTPOS terminal. I go into this in more detail in this comment if you are interested in learning more.2

In terms of where people have reported trying to use a Shell eGift Card, I suggest you have a look at this FAQ.

      1. The Shell fuel finder says the participating Shell service stations includes (but is not limited to) all Shell Coles/Reddy Express service stations and most Shell OTR service stations. If you want to see these service stations yourself, make sure to enable the Gift Cards - eGift Card filter.

      2. On the other hand, a 7-Eleven digital gift card is functionally an Activ Visa gift card that has been set up to only work at the two MCCs that 7-Eleven have assigned to their stores in Australia:
        - MCC 5499: Miscellaneous Food Stores – Convenience Stores and Specialty Markets
        - MCC 5541: Service Stations (With or without Ancillary Services)

Thanks for the information. That’s very useful

  • +5

    Both tracked $20+$15(6% of $250)

    • +1

Always nice to have confirmation, cheers.

    • Did you buy in 2 transactions? $100 then $150?

  • +3

    I have got the $20 after buying $150; $100 with 6% cashback

    • $150; $100 in 2 transactions?

      • Yes

  • I read some comments they said this shell gc can exchange for coles myer. How exactly does this work? Can anyone explain? Thanks

    • +3

You need to go to a Shell Coles Express or Shell Reddy Express service station and purchase a Coles Group & Myer gift card. You then need to pay using a Shell eGift Card.

      Keep in mind the following:

      • It is against the gift card’s terms and conditions to use it to purchase a gift card. It is currently up to staff to enforce this, so if a staff member notices you are trying to use a gift card to purchase a gift card, it may not end well for you… As long as you ask to pay using card or Visa card and do not show to the whole world you are using a Shell eGift Card, you should be fine.

      • There is no guarantee that the next Shell Coles/Reddy Express you visit has Coles Group & Myer gift cards in stock. Over half of the locations I have visited this year did not have them on the gift card shelf, and the staff I asked had no idea why they were not in stock. I have no idea of there are supply issues, or Shell Coles/Reddy Express are slowly withdrawing them from sale, or something else is going on…

      • +1

        Thank you, very detailed explanation.

      • WookieMonster, do you think Coles Myer GC from say Coles would be purchased at Shell? Thank you for being so helpful for all of us.

        • +2

I think it would work, but it assumes the checkout at the Shell Coles/Reddy Express you go to has checkouts that have been configured to allow the purchase of Coles Group & Myer gift cards. I went to one service station in December 2024 that just had the new Shell Reddy Express checkouts installed, but each time the attendant scanned the Coles Group & Myer gift card to purchase it, the checkout returned an error message. I went back to that same Shell Reddy Express a couple of weeks ago and had no problems purchasing a Coles Group & Myer gift card.

Also, you may run into issues if you ask to buy a Coles Group & Myer gift card and hand one over to the attendant, but the attendant knows that their location has not sold them for a while. Additionally, I have not seen any Shell Coles/Reddy Express service stations lately sell the Coles Group & Myer gift cards where you have to rip off the paper tab across the activation barcode (nor the packaging with the new typeface and the participating retailers' logos printed on the front of the packaging), so that may trigger concerns from an attendant as well.

      • Maybe to do with viva share price down 50% as customers are not buying goods there anymore

Fuel sale actually been going up

  • Silly question, should i add these as 'gift card' OR 'Payment card' in google wallet? Also does Shell allow me to split transaction using google wallet to by big amount gift card of $250 (e.g. $100+$100+$50)

    • +2

should i add these as 'gift card' OR 'Payment card' in google wallet?

Payment card, because Shell eGift Cards are functionally prepaid Visa gift cards.

does Shell allow me to split transaction using google wallet to by big amount gift card of $250 (e.g. $100+$100+$50)

Shell Coles/Reddy Express checkouts will let you do this, but whether a staff member will let you do this will be at their discretion.

I have no idea if other types of Shell service stations (e.g. Shell OTR) can handle split payments across multiple Visa cards.

      • +1

        Thanks. that is helpful

  • Just go to earn more. More challenges. Should be able to find it there.

  • $150 gone too, just bought 2×100+1×50 and already received $20 in activities.
    Thank you OP.

  • Only $50 cards left now.

  • Thank you. All tracked ☺️

  • The 6% cards showing as sold out :(

    • If you go to the Gift Card section, at the very top, slide the ads you'll see Shell still listed as 6%, but only $50 available.

  • Is this similar to 7eleven gift card where you can use it in any petrol station?

    • +1

      No.

Did you see this comment earlier in this deal? If not, the reply explains the reason Shell eGift Cards cannot be used outside of participating Shell service stations.

  • Just bought $250 Coles Myer variable load GC using this card from Coles Express in SA.

    • Well done! I've been to many Coles Express in Melbourne and cannot find any Coles Myer gift cards.
