        • It might only be open from 10am AEST

          • @Food: Looks like it's open 10am AEDT… so 9am AEST.

Just had my conversation with them. The rep said she will monitor my account and if, after the 12 week mark, I don't get the points, she'll escalate. Will take 5 working days after escalation for my account to be credited. Similar to what happyadventurer posted above.

@Mugsy: There is zero chance she is monitoring your account.

              • @puffinfresh: Yeah, I will be contacting them on the 12 week mark again.

Given that I was told to call back after the 10 week mark to ensure everything was going as planned, I was hoping the response today was that "yes, my points have been queued in their system for issuing to me" but I didn't get that. I'm not keen on waiting.

An in saying all that, my Bendigo Ready credit card hasn't been approved yet (still being processed after almost two months)… might mess up my churning cycle.

Also reminds me that I need to claim my travel credit… don't wanna botch that up!

  • My experience was similar to the above

13/06/24: Applied and approved for the Virgin Velocity Flyer
    13/07/24: 30k points - Flyer 60K offer
    13/08/24: 30k points - Flyer 60K offer
31/10/24: Logged into Velocity website and initiated a chat with service representative regarding points not received. I noted that I met the spend requirement on 13/07/24. Rep said they will follow up with relevant team, they asked for application + approval date of the card.

This was the second time I contacted them, the first representative tried arguing that I needed to reach out 12 weeks after the second statement date (5th Nov)

Probably worth just disconnecting chat and trying again if you had my first experience above

    • Got the points 8/11/24 so about 7 business days after escalating

  • Finally got my points today.
After chasing them via velocity live chat for 2 weeks

So I was meant to chat with Velocity again on Tuesday on the 12 week mark but work was busy. Just did it this morning… yep, as expected, they hadn't escalated it still.

They've said it's escalated now. Will see if the points arrive by 12 Nov.

With some luck, maybe I'll get my Bendigo Ready approval email by then too.

Lodge a complaint mate, what's what got me there.

      • Been busy juggling a house move, sorting out landscaping and things associated with my niece's birth so hadn't looked at this again till now.

        No points still.

Lodged a complaint like you advised. I've given Velocity enough chances to do with without a complaint.

        • I should add that my Bendigo Ready credit card has been approved after a 10 week wait… and Velocity still cannot get me my 30k points.

      • Through what process?

  • any chance we'll see this deal again before black friday? It started again on 6th of Nov last year :/

  • Every time I get this card, I swear off it. The first time I had a nightmare signing up. Comments on the initial post said that if nothing goes wrong, it is flawless, but if something goes wrong, it's a nightmare. I think the bonus points also took forever and I had to chase them.

This time, no issues signing up. But I paid off my card early and then the direct debit two weeks later paid off more than my full balance and put me into positive credit of over $2k. I need to figure out how to withdraw that back into my bank account without incurring fees.

Additionally, bonus points for this promo have not arrived. Chasing via email has been fruitless after six weeks of waiting and being told my case was escalated. I am chasing now on live chat, and the agent told me he would "confirm matters and come back to me" and after eight minutes, the chat timed out and closed. Had to queue twice now…

Now being told I have to wait 10-12 weeks from the date the second round of 30k points were credited (i.e. 60k total).

I guess I will try a different agent and wait in queue a third time…

    • Lodge a complaint with Velocity.

      • Done that via email to no avail, and was unsuccessful with live chat today. Will try again tomorrow I guess.

    • Next time disable the direct debit and just pay it using the bpay method.

      • Much prefer to have a failsafe in case I miss the payment. Never been an issue on countless other cards I've held. They have been smart enough to only direct debit the running balance.

        • You might want to see if your bank supports scheduled BPay payments to free up your mind and not worry about bills due dates once entered and scheduled in.

  • I am now fighting with them on a daily basis, satisfied all requirements and waited 14 weeks, still no points.
Apparently I am not eligible as I got my point too quick from card approval date!

    • Do they know your card approval date? I signed up a couple of days late and was banking on them just paying out like usual. Did you need to provide evidence of when you applied?

      • They just asked me when I called up about the points (still missing). I'm guessing they have the ability to verify with the card provider, but maybe not.

      • +1

They asked me what it is and I said 1 July, they went on and declined saying it can't be 1 July as you got points on 2 July (which was my statement date) and I made a transaction on the approval date. They then argued that points don't credit the same day as the statement issue date but a week or so later!

  • Well this is BS.

After telling me for over 2 months now that I will be credited the points 10-12 weeks from when I received the first month of Velocity Flyer credit card bonus points, I'm now being told by Velocity that is incorrect and that the 10-12 weeks starts from the second lot of 30k points Virgin Money issued me. I will need to wait till 6 Dec for my bonus points from Velocity.

And this is after I had lodged a complaint too.

Honestly, the amount of effort they've put into dealing with my enquiries… someone could have credited me the 30k points already!

Seriously thinking of switching to another frequent flyer program after I use up my Velocity points.

  • +2

I finally got my 30k points yesterday after about 6 phone calls and case escalated. Then spoke with a supervisor

    I said the t&c's state
The 30,000 bonus Points will be allocated to your Velocity account in accordance with, and subject to the Velocity membership Terms and Conditions 10-12 weeks after you meet the minimum spend criteria for the eligible offer associated with the individual card.

Minimum spend criteria met ($1500), NOT 12 weeks after 2nd points lot allocated.

    • Me too. I'm not sure if it had anything to do with them not wanting to deal with me on the phone anymore, but I have the points now so I'm happy. Different card though they kept saying they were waiting for a response from the partner (Westpac)

    • I said exactly the same thing. I think they got their T&Cs mixed up but yeah finally got the points also.

  • Yeah same. Was waiting for response.
I did notice that they seemed to do them in batches in Aug and October. So it could be they've done another batch yesterday.
Time to cancel that credit card today.
