eufy Security E340 Floodlight Camera $349 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ In-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

870

I had one already, an excellent floodlight camera. Local storage (I think the micro sd card is limited to 128 GB), does not require a HomeBase.

  • Wow nice price

    • Was at $359 earlier this year. Fortunately I HODL until EOFY. Maybe there will be another perk code next week?

      • Not if you’re in the eufy ecosystem?

        • -5

          eufy ecosystem

overprice is overprice whether you are in the eco system or not

just like how many apple products are overpriced even though I am in their ecosystem

          • +12

@pinkybrain: You can neg the deal if you think it’s not a good bargain - alternatively would love your expert suggestion on a comparable product with same functionality at a better price.

  • I want to install it under a roof instead of drill into brick . These things don't look like they can be?

edit: hmm maybe they can: https://support.eufy.com/s/article/Can-I-install-my-eufy-flo…

I have mine installed under eave. Works fine.

      • How did you power yours?

        • +8

I have an an existing traditional flood light in that location. Electrician recommended. Also recommend sticking a solar cam in area without existing wires to save install cost. Never had to take it down in the last 2 years. Asking them to pull a new wire is like handing over a kidney.

    • +1

Yep mine is installed under the eve, electrician did it.

      • How much did install cost?

        • It was Free! Insurance job :-(

  • +1

I paid 374 in March. I highly recommend this if you can get it wired.

Seems to be slightly cheaper at goodbuyz at $344 with 15% off first order.

Got this installed at a business doing the full 360 sweep. The 2k zoom camera is great for getting face detail!

  • Can a theif just take the sd card out?

    • +2

      Asking for a friend!

    • yes, but data is encrypted.

      • +1

Not all will be in vain though, the theif can format the SD card and put it in his stolen switch

      • Thief here, ain't matter to me

    • Yes. Also Eufy will not block a stolen camera by serial number (ask me how I know)

      • How do you know?

        • +2

One of mine got stolen and Eufy support won't do anything about it to block the serial number to prevent it from being used. Seems insane to me; just means there can be a thriving second hand market of stolen Eufy gear.

  • How do these go for motion detection?
My 2C cameras either go off with shadows and the wind or don’t go off at all.

Even if I select only my driveway I will still get motion detection from cars on the road.

    Are these any better?

    • How high have you got it mounted? Too high will affect maximum detection distance.

      • About 2.3m high, my front door camera the UV filter failed and is pink

        Not overly impressed with eufy

        • Damn, that’s roughly how high I got my eufy outdoor cams - got 4 of them, they are since discontinued and do a good job of servicing front and back yard. Supplemented with a bunch of imou cams and mirabella movement detectors.

    • I find mine awesome and Ive actually had to turn the alerts down but it's been great and now the linked function is working, it can tie in with the rest of the cameras too. Happily buy another one if I needed it.

    • Do you have the homebase 2 or 3. My 2c would record everything or none. Some days a cam would have no footage even though we had clearly walked passed it several times. I upgraded to the homebase 3 and it's given my 2c cams a new lease of life, it's accurate 95% of the time now.

      • Home base 2, interesting if this is the case

Have two of these that have been running for 18 months and IMO they’re fantastic. Recommend them. Hard wired and no cloud storage fees. Well worth the hardware price.

    • Is streaming good?

      • Yes very crisp and reliable have’t had issues.

        • -1

did you wire the power cord through the wall and then plugged into the power outlet inside?

    • +1

Better off with hikvision or dhauna, i would have thought.

  • Anyone have this installed in full weather? I heard the other eufy floodlight gets water pooling in the lens

    • I have it installed and it has withstood Melbourne's pretty harsh weather for over a year.

  • Does this run standalone with the phone app without the new Homebase 3?

Is Homebase 3 only needed if you want offline video storage?

I currently have a Homebase 1 set up with four first edition security cameras so if I need to upgrade to HB 3 then I presume that I’ll need to upgrade all 4 security cameras too? Could be a costly exercise when I just want the additional floodlight :(

      https://support.eufy.com/s/article/Centralize-Your-Security-…

I just upgraded from homebase2 to 3. (jbhifi currently a good price)

All of my cameras and doorbell transferred across in the app - very easy and well done by eufy.

      Sensors must be re-installed manually.

note that door locks [mine anyway] are independent of homebase so may not be shown on list.

      • Can I ask what do you do with home base 2? It still has 16gb storage and I heard that it’s much louder than home base 3. Could it sync with home base 3 in parrellel and supplement home base 3? Thanks

    • +1

      Doesn’t require homebase

  • Bunnings price beat?

    • I don’t think they stock the E340

  • Any recommendation for a good SD card to go with this? I think you have to use the high write SD card or something right? Thanks!

  • Is this better than the floodlight with 3 lights?

    • From memory a difference is support for the home base, this being a newer model supports it.

I fell into the trap of thinking more expensive equals better with eufy but they have a table that shows homebase support and plenty of models not getting it.

      • Whats so good about home base?

        • Can do a number of things like AI face detection so it doesn't ping you if its a known face

    • This supports continuous recording while the 3 lights version doesn't. That was a deal breaker for me.

  • I see you're saying it's using SD card but can it use the Homebase? I.e. secure hidden footage inside the house?

  • so frustrating they also have a doorbell with the same product ID "E340"

  • +2

This eufy floodlight versus the other one with three lights?

Hoping to use to light up a front deck

    • This supports continuous recording while the 3 lights version doesn't.

Just had mine installed this afternoon - The dual lens system is mind-blowing, 1 wide angle, 1 punched in - can easily see faces etc

AI tracking works flawlessly and the floodlights are ridiculously bright.

    10/10 would recommend!

    • If two people walk in different directions, how does the ai tracking work?

      • +1

I've noticed that it sticks to either the first person it sees, or the one making the most motion.

        • +1

          Thanks.

Deep into the eufy system. Got 6x flood lights about to install a 7th which is this one.

Difference between this one and the old one is bit less lumens since 2 leds but it has continous record, dual lens, smarter tracking.

The solar S340 which I also have spotlight is weak ASF.

Alot of people are stating this is expensive, which well it is. But I think its worth it as it easily covers dead spots ie. The camera tracks 180 degrees and has wide and telescopic so essentially you possibly using less cameras. I have 1x in the midline of each side of the house and 2 x solar cameras to cover black outs (or thieves turning your power off)

Cons: The AI is not that smart facial recoginition is only good on the doorbell as its eye-level height its 100% accurate. The spotlights are usually at 2.5-3m under eave or mid-storey height, which means AI is useless

    • need sub for cross tracking and other smart stuff . This isn't clear as you sold an non-subscription device which storage is, but the upsell on the AI is a bit meh.
  • Can an additional solar power this? Can't run power where I'm thinking of putting this at.

  • Thanks OP, got 2 and just set one up and works a treat!!

This may be a silly question, but any idea how long this special will run for?

    • +3

I did ask the staff instore and was told til the end of June.

    • More a question of available stock. In VIC when I checked yest, plenty. This morning, half of them disappeared. So I quickly placed my order for pick up at Chadstone VIC, using 5% off JBHF gift card (employee benefit).

  • +1

What is the recommended height for installing this?

    • +1

The manual recommends 8 feet (2.44 m) height above the ground.

  • Outside of discounted GC's. Anything else to get this price down further?

    • +1

If you have commbank you may be targeted with a spend $50 get $10 back offer. I used that together with TCN gift cards.

JB Hi-Fi happily split the payment up between 4 gift cards plus my commbank credit card. Effectively got $35 rebate between them all, on top of the JB $100 deal discount so I’m happy with the savings.

  • How much is expected to get this installed onto a an existing 'port' - which currently has an old floodlight sensor.
