    & Vanilla Cinema GC

What does a Vanilla Cinema show? Just G and PG rated films?

  • +11

Man I wish it is 15% off like it used to be

    • +1

      Something is better than nothing

    • +11

Man i wish it is 20% off like it never was.

      • +1

Man I wish it was 150% off so they owed me money

        • -3

As funny is this is, there are plenty of cashback deals on ozb that do exactly this LOL

    • +1

      Good times.

    • -2

Honestly I'm surprised they're still on special at all considering how feral some people went for 15%. Who knew all it took was some discounted gift cards for people to devolve back to apes.

  • Google Store gift cards are never discounted.

    • +1

It was (20x edr) at Woolies a few weeks ago.

    • +2

That's why you stock up when it is

Good news is there will be a Google Play deal later in the month or early July

    • +1

They've heard for this, so it's the time for you on the upcoming week.

  • -8

    Any include officeworks?.. You know…

    • Yes

      • Nice. Thanks…..then the next question is should I wait for this gift card to by the OW iPhone vs Costco…?

        • +5

          OW price beats Costco

  • -1

This deal better than all those Apple 20x GC rubbish

    • This is not a fair comparison, as none of the gift cards listed provide access to Apple.com. It was a better deal when the JB Hifi Ultimate Gift Card loophole worked

      • my reference is that those Apple 20x happen way too often and this deal more people can benefit from it

you don't need that many Apple GC deals in a year

  • +6

wish they have one for baby bunting

  • -1

Not sure who was using these like me, but JBHIFI no longer allow you to buy other gift cards.

    • What does this mean? I want to buy something and get 10% off via these gift cards. Do you mean jb does not accept these?

      • +4

They are referring to the update of the JB Hi-Fi gift card policy in November 2023, where JB Hi-Fi says you cannot use an Ultimate gift card to purchase any gift cards sold at JB Hi-Fi.

If you were going to purchase anything else, you should be fine.

        • Yep, I often used to buy steam credit, or Apple gift cards and now can’t. I’ve also had an issue with every single one recently where I couldn’t even swap them online and could only use them in store. Very unlikely to stock up on these again.

          • @cc23:

Yep, I often used to buy steam credit, or Apple gift cards and now can’t.

Is it the same that staff are stopping you, or the checkout automatically blocks you?

I’ve also had an issue with every single one recently where I couldn’t even swap them online and could only use them in store. Very unlikely to stock up on these again.

Is this through the exchange portal on the Ultimate gift card website? If so, were you using the correct expiry date? There are two different expiry dates used by physical Ultimate gift cards for purchases.

            • @WookieMonster: How do you find this date though? Just says my card doesn’t work every time. I’ve given up.

              • +2

@cc23: Use the balance check website for physical Ultimate gift cards listed here. The balance check website will tell you the expiry date you need to use for purchases (which may be different to the expiry date for the balance on your gift card, if that makes sense).

          • @cc23: I can still using the Ultimate Students card to buy the Steam credits from EB Games store, donno whether is that a reason that those Steam cards are running out from some of EB Games store.

        • +3

I purchased $900 worth of JB gift card in March using Ultimate Gift Cards in Fountain Gate Shopping Centre.

          • @jimojr: This means, the system itself does NOT actually restrict you from purchasing other GC (in this case their own in house JB GC), as long as the staff serving you does not restrict you, is this correct?

            • +1
              • +1

@jimojr: Good info to know thanks 🙏
                @WookieMonster

            • @noelhoi: If so, we could add Ultimate cards into Samsung pay/Apple pay/Google wallet, then tap&pay with our phone without the need for letting the staff know we're using gift cards ?

              • +1

@123nkj: Yep. I have done this in the last couple of months. Loaded a few Ultimate Home cards onto my phone and converted them into Stan gift cards.

        • That's their loss then, I used to consolidate my discounted gift card into a few JB Hifi cards so that it's quick processing the payment at the checkouts when buying an expensive item. Now they will have to just put up with me swiping 40 cards.

  • Where is the ultimate home?

  • Excuse the ignorance but can anyone confirm?

These are the cards that can be used to buy PSN and Apple gift cards yes? Or are they redeemable directly on PSN/ iTunes Store?

    • +11

With regards to the PlayStation Store:

The PlayStation Store is featured on the Ultimate Everyone, Kids, Students and Teens gift cards in this deal, but they are an exchange-only partner. That means you would need go to the Ultimate gift card's exchange portal and exchange the full or partial balance of your Ultimate gift card for a digital PlayStation Store gift card that is emailed to you.

      With regards to Apple:

Apple does not feature as a participating retailer on any Ultimate gift cards.

Alternatively, you can try to use an Ultimate gift card to purchase a PlayStation Store gift card or Apple gift card through a participating retailer (e.g. JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys, Officeworks, EB Games), but you may run into issues trying to do this:

      • It is against the terms and conditions of Ultimate gift cards to use to purchase gift cards or vouchers from any participating retailer. (The exchange portal is exempt from this, because you are transacting directly with Ultimate gift cards, not any participating retailers.)

      • Officeworks has set up their checkout systems to block anyone from using Ultimate gift cards as a payment methods for any gift cards. (It is also against the Officeworks gift card policy.)

      • JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys updated their gift card policies in November 2023 to forbid customers from using Ultimate (and TCN) gift cards to purchase any gift cards. I am not sure whether JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys have gone the extra step and automatically block customers from doing this.

      • +2

        Super clear!
        Thank you

  • +1

Can you exchange for JB online like TCN?

    • +3

      At the moment, yes.

If you go to one of the Ultimate gift card webpages linked in the deal description (e.g. Ultimate Everyone), it will show you the redemption options at each participating retailer. If you change the filter from Show All to Exchange for eGift, the JB Hi-Fi logo still shows, which means JB Hi-Fi is on the exchange portal.

I also just logged into the exchange portal using my Ultimate gift card, and I can see JB Hi-Fi as an option.

I say at the moment, because participating retailers and/or redemption options can change at any time without notice.

      • +1

I just exchanged 3*$50 worth of Ultimate Everyone gift cards for a JB e gift card. No problem. Received instantly.

      • Thanks for that link.

Although JB Hi-Fi is also shown as an online redemption option, so would there be any additional benefit to converting it to a JB eGift card?

        • +2

It depends on what matters for you. For example:

          • If you are wanting to make a purchase from jbhifi.com.au, you can only redeem a maximum of 1x Ultimate gift card in one transaction. However, you can redeem an unlimited number of JB Hi-Fi gift cards in one online transaction.

          • If you do a price match over the phone or via live chat, apparently you cannot use any third-party gift cards (including Ultimate gift cards) as a payment method, but you are allowed to use JB Hi-Fi gift cards as a payment method. (It’s a weird rule, if you ask me.)

          • JB Hi-Fi can be removed as a participating retailer any time and without any prior warning. For example, in 2022, Blackhawk Network (the gift card scheme operator) removed temporarily JB Hi-Fi from Ultimate Thanks gift cards when a few of us realised JB Hi-Fi was included as a participating retailer during a 15% off deal (and it later turned out that Blackhawk Network accidentally included JB Hi-Fi on the Ultimate Thanks gift card). If you exchange your Ultimate gift card for a JB Hi-Fi gift card, you can definitely use the JB Hi-Fi gift card at JB Hi-Fi.

If none of these really matter to you, you are probably better off leaving the balance on your Ultimate gift cards, as you retain the flexibility of being able to use the Ultimate gift card at JB Hi-Fi and/or at other participating retailers.

      • Hi wookie, does this mean i can simply exchange x amount if ultimate cards fir 1x JB voucher? And egift can that only be used online? Or instire too. Thanks for all the info you give on these.

        • +1

does this mean i can simply exchange x amount if ultimate cards fir 1x JB voucher?

          No.

You can only redeem one Ultimate gift card at a time, and you can exchange that Ultimate gift card for one or more retailer-specific gift cards. For example, you can exchange 1x $50 Ultimate Everyone gift card for 1x $30 PlayStation Store gift card and 1x $20 JB Hi-Fi gift card. Alternatively, you can exchange 1 $50 Ultimate Everyone gift card for 1x $50 JB Hi-Fi gift card.

There is no way you can consolidate multiple Ultimate gift cards into one and exchange that for 1x JB Hi-Fi through the Ultimate gift card exchange portal.

And egift can that only be used online?

          No.

As per the JB Hi-Fi gift card policy, JB Hi-Fi gift cards can be redeemed at:

          • Any physical JB Hi-Fi store (excluding the stores at Sydney International Airport and Gold Coast International Airport),

          • Online at jbhifi.com.au, or

          • On the phone sales line at 13 52 44.

  • -1

Does anyone know if a gift card purchase goes towards the spending for the 10,000 Flybuys points?

  • Can these be used online footlocker or in store only ?

    • +1

In store but you can exchange to Foot Locker e-gift card online.

  • +1

Isn't this basically 10% off whatever item you want?

  • Is there a limit on how many points can be accrued on one Flybuy account (outside of the 5 gift cards per transaction limit)?

  • +1

Not sure if it’s all Coles, but my local is only stocking $30, $50 and variable load cards for cards which are part of the deal. They have $100 for non deal cards.

  • -1

Any of these come in $200 face value? It's a lot of trouble to keep a whole bunch of gift cards at anything less for big purchases… I really don't enjoy scratching multiple GCs at a store for a big purchase.

    • +10

That's why you pre-scratch them and have them ready to go before you get to the checkout.

There's nothing worse than being stuck in line behind someone who is disorganised and holding up the queue. Further, if people keep doing this, JB and the like may also begin to restrict the number of cards that can be used in a transaction which would spoil the party for everyone.

      • +7

JB and the like may also again begin to restrict the number of cards that can be used in a transaction which would spoil the party for everyone.

        FIFY.

For the 2020 Black Friday 15% off TCN gift card deal at Coles, the TCN gift card terms and conditions were quietly updated the day before the deal started to state that JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys would only accept a maximum of $500 worth of TCN gift cards in one transaction. That restriction was rescinded not long after, but it goes to show that it could happen again.

      • But but you hold until the last minute in case you change your mind :)

  • nice, what deal does woolies have next week? the have the apple gift cards right now, and i have too many still.

  • Can you still buy these with Coles prepaid MasterCard/Vanilla Visa?

    • yes you can but you have to add a chocolate and can't do split payments

  • +1

pretty good anyone know if there is a limit to these at officeworks might grab a Iphone 15 pro with these

    • +12

      In-store

Officeworks’ point-of-sale system will allow multiple Ultimate gift cards to be redeemed in one in-store transaction, and there is no known limit built into the system. The OzBargain record is currently 27.

Having said that, split payments is at the discretion of the staff member (and I previously had different staff members on two separate occasions randomly refuse my request for split payments).

      Online

Officeworks’ website will only allow the redemption of one Ultimate gift card per online transaction, as Officeworks’ website cannot handle split payments across multiple Visa cards.

Having said that, there have been multiple reports of Officeworks' website randomly rejecting an Ultimate gift card as a payment method. I had a look at the Ultimate gift card website’s FAQ section earlier this week and noticed that it says that there is an error on Officeworks’ website where it will reject an Ultimate gift card if you are purchasing something from the Technology category, which probably impacts you if you are wanting to purchase an iPhone 15 Pro.

Over the phone at 1300 OFFICE

A user associated with Officeworks confirmed that Officeworks’ sales team will only allow the redemption of one Ultimate gift card per transaction over the phone, as that team cannot handle split payments across multiple Visa cards.

You can read more about this in the FAQ (and I forgot to include the link to that in the deal description earlier today, but I have rectified that now).

      • thanks OP

        • +2

Haha I am not the OP!

          • +3

            @WookieMonster: Just the "MVP"…🏆

Thanks for the actual info, regarding these. Cheers M8

      • This is super helpful, thank you!

Would you happen to know if JB has any known limits? I want to buy an iPad Magic Keyboard with these and keen to know if I’ll get turned away after a certain amount.

Also, are there $100 value cards? Or does Ultimate only do max $50 value cards? (Long time reader, first time Ultimate GC hacker)

        • +7

Would you happen to know if JB has any known limits?

It depends if you are shopping in-store or online.

The answer is actually contained in the FAQs linked in the deal description, but in summary:

          • The OzBargain redemption record is 99 in one in-store transaction. (I myself used 5 cards in-store at JB Hi-Fi today.)

          • You can only redeem a maximum of 1x Ultimate gift card on the JB Hi-Fi website, but there are workarounds.

Also, are there $100 value cards? Or does Ultimate only do max $50 value cards?

Based on what I have seen available at multiple Coles stores (including the one I was at earlier today), the denominations sold at Coles should be:

          • Everyone: $50, variable load (which is excluded from this deal)
          • Her: $50, $100 (but I doubt you care about this, because this gift card does not feature JB Hi-Fi)
          • Kids: $30, $50, variable load (which is excluded from this deal)
          • Students: $30, $50
          • Teens: $30, $50, variable load (which is excluded from this deal)

As a side note, Ultimate Everyone gift cards are sold in a $100 denomination at other retailers (e.g. Woolworths, BIG W), but I have never seen one stocked at Coles, which makes me think that Coles does not sell the $100 denomination themselves.

          • @WookieMonster: So by you mean variable load are the ones that say $50-500 on the card right? Shame that they are excluded. Would make buying big items easier

            • +1

@terroz: Yep, variable load are the ones where you choose the amount to load onto the gift card (whether it is $20-$500 or $50-$500).

It would make buying big items much easier, but it is very unusual to see the variable load sold in upfront discount or bonus value deals at Coles (or Woolworths or BIG W).

        • last year I purchased my Mac with these gift cards (purchased at 15% off), id say I used about 20-30. It was embarrassing but I did it

      • +2

I just used 30 x $50 giftcards at Officeworks, while also using Officeworks' PBG from Costco.

Tip: Have the cards & pins ready to go. I went at night while it was quiet, and the staff were more than happy to process the sale.

Like mentioned, I could not find any $100 giftcards.

        • +1

well done, and like you I could only find $50 cards this time

          • +1

@DealSa: The $50 cards made it more difficult than it needed to be.

Like an attempt to limit the effectiveness of the offer.

  • Did they remove Lego AG from the ultimate gift card? Recalled it being in there

    • +1

I have never seen AG LEGO Certified Stores included in any Ultimate gift cards (and I say that after having trawled through many previous versions of the Gift Card FAQ wiki page and not finding a single point since October 2021 where the Ultimate gift cards included it).

Are you by chance thinking of the TCN gift card scheme instead? Those have featuring AG LEGO Certified Stores since at least October 2021 (and that date was when I started building the FAQ wiki page to keep track of participating retailers, so there is a very high chance AG LEGO Certified Stores started being on those gift cards earlier than that).

      • +1

Thanks for the research, looks like it is TCN,!

  • Where's the breakdown for Eats?

  • Guys ozbargain suggestion needed. I bought the LOQ from Officeworks for 1097. If I buy gift cards from this deal and return the laptop and buy again instores. Achievable? Practical?

    • no that's not a good idea

  • Can anyone confirm that these cards (still) work at Officeworks for SIM starter kits? Thinking I might stack these onto a price beat for a Boost SIM starter kit.

    • @daanish Did you find an answer to this? I'm thinking of trying the same.

      • +1

Just did it today. They worked no dramas.

        • Good to know. Thanks for the quick reply.

  • Waiting to buy a bike from 99 bikes but sadly no Active this time.
