Update: I have received my gift card purchased at 9:13am and when I clicked on the link called “View Gift Card”, it brings me to the Blackhawk website that shows JB on the Ultimate Thanks gift card image. It’ll make you go through myprepaidcentre website to activate and save your card to your account

For those still doubting, here’s an image after I clicked “View Gift Card”

Update 26/10 2:06pm: Blackhawk network has pulled the JB and TGG as the participating retailers for the Ultimate gift cards from this deal. See this comment from the rep

Is there any promo code ? I tried just now but at checkout it is still showing amount and no discount…

    • Must be $100

    • The original link pointed to ultimate gift card page. I think that's where the confusion was.

  • +2

Where does it says, JBHifi and TGG? I cant find it on website. Please help.

      • -2

That's not the same ultimate gift card. Better fix the description.

      • On a similar previous deal (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/716439), WookieMonster mentioned that there is no JB Hifi: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/716439#fnref:1

        • That's from July, if you actually click the link WookieMonster provided, OP is correct.

        • On that comment, Wookie said

The list of participating retailers is current as at 30 July 2022 and is taken directly from the Ultimate gift cards

The table in the deal description was extracted from this wiki page, which says

The participating retailers are correct as at 22 October 2022 and have been sourced from individual webpages for each Ultimate gift card. Please refer to the individual gift card pages for the most up-to-date list of participating retailers

    • +1

Same. I don't think it applies if its not shown.

      • +1

I think JB hi Fi is included for the thanks card. I have jumped on that link if you pick exchange card, it shows the same amount of retailers as shown on OP's link. But if you pick online and in store, JB hifi is there. So does that mean we don't have to exchange to use this card in JB hifi?

        • +1

I have used in past as well. But it does not show up now in website. So buyer beware perhaps and it's the only reason i'm not buying it through this deal.

  • +1

Can these cards be used online at JB or instore only ?

    • And is there a max to how many can be used at JB online or instore?

    • -3

      Instore only

      • +3

No, you can use it online
Its a debit card so you put like normal credit card number

However, as most online payment doesnt support split payment
You can only use 1 card at a time
Another option is to first use this card to purchase JB GC in JB website
and you can use unlimited JB GC in 1 transaction

  • +2

The Card can be used for purchases of goods and services, at the merchants whose logos appear on the Card in Australia.

  • +1

Jb and good guys not shown in cards in the Giftcard’s website

    Buy at own risk

  • +1

who’s gonna risk it for the biscuit? 😉

    • +4

I just bought the Thanks, waiting for the egift card to be emailed

      • Thanks bargainsgrabber. Can I confirm with you with Ultimate cards, they are like visa card, so either you convert to a specific store gift card or they will only work if the purchase is $100 or less as you cannot stack multiple Ultimate cards. Am I correct? thanks!

      • Did you get the email? My card was charged at 9.29 but still waiting for email confirmation

        • +2

I’m still waiting for the email. My card has been charged for $85 on a $100 gift card

  • I think it'll work at these places. I scanned the qr code on ultimate student card I bought last year and it now has officeworks on the list.

  • It's stuck loading at the payment details edit: worked with chrome was stuck with firefox

  • Buyer beware on JB Hifi/Good Guys, I wouldn't touch it:

Regretfully this offer is only for $100 Ultimate Active, Baby & Mum, Beauty & Spa, Eats, Style and Thanks eGift Cards, not the Home card which features JB Hi-Fi.

    Apologies for any inconvenience,

    Yours Sincerely

PS you can't use Coles mastercard gc to buy these. An error is returned "Something went wrong, please try again." Either because it requires verification which this card can't do or because giftcards.com.au is a Coles website.

    • Getting the same issue :(

    • Try adding the coles MasterCard to flypay and use fly pay to checkout

      • Did it work for you?

        • gimme your coles mastercard details and i'll try for you

      • It’s the same people that runs both. The card is blocked from payment.

Warning: there is no Tgg logo on baby & mum card, and no jb logo on thanks card.

    • It does show in Ultimate website tho

    • +3

What would you use as the source of truth for participating retailers?

I would say the former, because:

      • The terms and conditions of an Ultimate gift card tell you in the second paragraph: The Card may be used to purchase goods or services at the participating retailers featured on the Card. Each Card has a specific set of merchants in which it can be redeemed at. For a full and updated list of participating merchants please visit our website www.ultimategiftcards.com.au. The table in OP’s description is sourced directly from www.ultimategiftcards.com.au, so therefore the list of participating retailers is in accordance with the Ultimate gift card terms and conditions.

      • The physical Ultimate gift cards have QR codes on the front and back of the gift cards that tell you where you can use Ultimate gift cards. That points to the gift card owner’s website (www.ultimategiftcards.com.au).

      • The images shown on each Ultimate gift card on the Coles Group gift card website were correct before the Ultimate gift card scheme underwent a major overhaul about a month ago, where a whole bunch of new participating retailers were brought in. If we look at the Coles Group gift card website’s page for the Ultimate Home gift card, I should not be able to redeem the Ultimate Home gift card at Officeworks, because it does not include the Officeworks logo on the image. However, the Ultimate gift card website’s page for the Ultimate Home gift card includes the Officeworks logo, plus when I add the Ultimate Home gift card to a mobile wallet, the image of the card has the Officeworks logo, plus I have used Ultimate Home gift cards across multiple transactions in-store at Officeworks and it has worked every single time without issue.

Hi Wookie, the Ultimate Team asked me to pop onto this thread and confirm that you are correct that the card may only be used to purchase goods or services at the participating retailers featured on the Card. In this case that is not Jb Hi Fi or The Good Guys. As always thanks for your help! Cheers Austin

        • +7

Are you saying that the Ultimate Team can just randomly remove participating retailers anytime just by deleting them from the “featured on the card” page, like they’ve just done for JB-HiFi, and buyers are at risk of having no guarantee the cards they bought can be used for the retailers they want?

          • +1

@GreenRomeo: Yes, dodgy lot can just change where the card can be used after you bought it whenever they like. It should be illegal.

          • @GreenRomeo: I bought $200 thanks gc and went to JB to spend and it was declined, can I get a refund from this reseller?

        • +4

@AustinBlack can you please provide feedback to the team to at least honour those that purchased before the card was pulled. Reflects very badly on the trustworthiness of the business if offers can be pulled at any time (without sufficient notice as in this case) or at least provide a refund :) Thanks

Thank you for your comment, although I find it interesting you fail to mention that JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys were on the Ultimate Thanks gift card and Ultimate Baby & Mum gift card (respectively) earlier today and it was advertised as such on the Ultimate gift card website… until that changed after I posted my comment you replied to.

Dare I say your comment is a little deceiving?

          • @WookieMonster: Hi Wookie, Austin Black has asked to provide an update on this thread (please note I am new to Oz Bargain so my profile is brand new and I am not sure how to associate myself correctly (L plates are on!) so any help with that would be really appreciated… if you know how to do that). That aside, I have good news! We are activating JB Hi Fi as a participating store for Thanks and doing the same for The Good Guys as a participating store for the Baby & Mum Card. These brands were not intended to be on these cards for this promotion, but we can see how much confusion and disappointment this has caused and we love you guys, so we don’t want that! If you have purchased either of these cards it will now work for you at these stores or of course at any of the other retailers shown on the card. Our sincere apologies about the confusion caused. Warmest regards, James

              @James Hawk: Wowwww that's …

            • @James Hawk: Hi,
It looks like all my cards have been suspended by the 'Blackhawk Network'. I cant activate them in Apple Pay and they don't work on the JB Website either. Who do we contact to get this resolved?

              • @hybridx: Hi there, sorry I can only do very limited replies (new profile), please message me if you haven't been able to resolve this.

            • +7

@James Hawk: Welcome to OzBargain! A hell of a time to join OzBargain as a Blackhawk Network brand rep, if you ask me… I see you now have the correct tag assigned to you, so I'm glad that has been sorted out for you.

These brands were not intended to be on these cards for this promotion

What was the intention? I hope you realise JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys were added to the Ultimate Thanks and Ultimate Baby & Mum gift cards (respectively) at the end of September 2022, so in my eyes you are suggesting one of two possibilities:

              1. JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys were never intended to be part of the Ultimate Thanks and Ultimate Baby & Mum gift cards in the first place, so their addition at the end of September was an accident.1
              2. JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys were always intended to be part of the Ultimate Thanks and Ultimate Baby & Mum gift cards in the first place, but they were going to be removed ahead of this giftcards.com.au deal.

I look at the Ultimate gift card webpages at least once a week to see what the participating retailers are, so you cannot deny that they were not on the Ultimate Thanks and Ultimate Baby & Mum gift cards before this deal went live, because the data does not lie. JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys were on those gift cards since at least 30 September 2022.

If you are suggesting scenario (1) is what happened, I would suggest you get someone from your company to review the following table, as it lists out all the brands added to all Ultimate gift cards when the Ultimate gift card scheme underwent a major update at the end of September 2022. I don't want to see your company go through this same process again by yanking more brands without notice, all because a brand was incorrectly assigned to an Ultimate gift card. (I would suggest someone at your company investigate how on earth JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys ended up on Ultimate gift cards that they were never intended to be added to.)

Ultimate Thanks Build-A-Bear Workshop, COSETTE, Cotton On, Cotton On Body, Cotton On Kids, EveryPlate, Factorie, Hello Fresh, JB Hi-Fi, Just Cuts, Rubi, Supré, Thankly, Typo

If you suggest scenario (2) was the intention, I think that's an interesting approach, as that screws over the people who previously purchased the gift card on the premise of using at the participating retailer that is later removed for a deal completely irrelevant to them.

but we can see how much confusion and disappointment this has caused and we love you guys, so we don’t want that!

I am glad you can see that. You don't have to look far to see the mess caused by this deal… I'm sure your company has always loved us. I mean, your company love us so much that they initially decided to remove two popular retailers from two Ultimate gift cards!

In all seriousness, the wiser option (in my eyes) would have been to get Coles Group to terminate the sale early and continue to allow people who bought into the deal to redeem the gift cards. Instead, your company's actions have left a huge mess for multiple parties to deal with. Who knows how many chargeback requests customers and Coles Group now have to deal with thanks to your company and how many complaints the ACCC have to sift through. I also would not be surprised if Blackhawk Network's reputation on this website remains soured for a while to come, even for the 15% off deal your company probably has planned for Coles in December. Yes, OzBargainers can be a savage bunch sometimes (especially when there is an error on a company's part), but admitting and acknowledging there was a mistake from the get-go is probably a better way to approach it than initial arse-covering and then finally acknowledging and apologising for a mistake two days later.

If you have purchased either of these cards it will now work for you at these stores or of course at any of the other retailers shown on the card. Our sincere apologies about the confusion caused.

I did not purchase any of the gift cards in this deal, and now I'm rather cautious about purchasing Ultimate gift cards going forward, because it is quite evident that your company is willing to move the goal posts and burn a whole bunch of customers in the process for any reason whatsoever (and - dare I say - including a reason that would benefit your company). Yes, I acknowledge your terms and conditions strongly imply that you can do that at any time, and customers accept this when they purchase or attempt to use an Ultimate gift card. However, I would have thought that clause primarily intended to cover a participating retailer wanting to leave the Ultimate gift card scheme (e.g. rebel, Supercheap Auto, BCF), not necessarily the situation that arose on Wednesday. I used to purchase Ultimate gift cards to bank them in anticipation of a deal at The Good Guys or JB Hi-Fi, but I'll now purchase them and redeem them as fast as possible, and I'll make sure to point out in future Ultimate gift card deals that the removal of popular retailers really can happen without warning and no explanation at the time.

              1. My suspicion is that scenario (1) happened, because I will admit I was a little perplexed to see The Good Guys added to the Ultimate Baby & Mum gift card. The Good Guys sticks out a little when contrasted alongside the other retailers on the gift card, especially since their business does not necessarily cater specifically for mothers or newborns.

        • +3

@AustinBlack Could you kindly report back to the OzBargain community on what resolution the Ultimate Team have come up with for those that purchased Ultimate Thanks and Ultimate Baby & Mum gift cards prior to The Good Guys and JB Hi-Fi being removed and prior to both gift cards being removed from the Ultimate Gift Cards website - https://buy.ultimategiftcards.com.au/deal/default ?

I would like to think that we can have a satisfactory solution rather than the Ultimate Team staying silent on the matter and forcing us to report to ACCC and Fair Trading.

          • @squeeb: Hi Squeeb, apologies for the slow reply, I have asked The Ultimate Team to advise and will come back to you!

            • @AustinBlack: 2 days late, damage has been done. I am not sure if people would actually entertained to buy from UGC given the bad track record.

          • @squeeb: Hi Squeeb, Austin Black has asked to provide an update on this thread (please note I am new to Oz Bargain so my profile is brand new and I am not sure how to associate myself correctly (L plates are on!) @James Hawk: Can confirm it works! Just purchased a $100 gift card through JB. Thanks Guys!!

              • @damo3032: Awesome, thanks for letting me know :)

                • @James Hawk: @James Hawk: need help here, i linked all my cards with account and its not seems to be loading now. Is there anything i need to do or contact?

                  • @IronDude: Hi, sorry I am limited on replying (new profile), if you're still having issues please message me!

                    • @James Hawk: Hi @James Hawk would appreciate some help as a couple of my cards have disappeared from myprepaidcentre. I have called, told that it was being escalated but no response the last 3 days. I also tried using some cards at JBHifi online and it says card declined.

                      • +1

@hyouden: I had a similar issue today and was told by the lady that she would escalate it. I then rang back and I got a guy that apparently knew more and told me to log out and back in a few times while he did something and they showed up again.

                • @James Hawk: I ordered one which worked fine, and went to buy a second one and I received an email from JB saying order cancelled?

            • +1

@James Hawk: So like what happened to those cards when it was cancelled by JBs and now stuck at pending charge on my Thanks card? Also, my Thanks card in my Apple Wallet says suspended, that means it is cancelled and refund ensues?

            • +2

@James Hawk: Uhm, I am so confusing as "not intended to be on these cards on this promotion". That means when I see the expecting brands on the card in a promotion which those brands were not intended to be on and they will disappear again whenever, even after purchasing. If it is, it will be a big concern.

        • +2

Hey? As a bystander I have to say I definitely saw the JB logo on the Thanks page (YOUR website) with my own two eyes this morning. How can you pull an eligible store from your product when people are buying a card on the basis of a store accepting them? Dodgy dodgy conniving thieves!

          • +3

@Techie4066: I bought $200 thanks gc based on what I saw the JB HIFI logo on the website and it was really big and now they just simply removed it. That is not fair and I will report it to the fair trading and ACCC and now I want a refund.

      • +2

        Unfortunately, it's always A third-party reseller’s website

It's now proven that JB/TGG is excluded, I still would like to share my experience and why I gave the above warning.

A year or 2 ago, I bought a "TCN Online gift card" on AGL Reward platform.
We all know if we buy that card from Coles/WW/AU post, ebay is one of the listed merchant.
On AGL platform, It was the same product name, "TCN Online gift card".
At that time, there was no text description regarding where to use on AGL website and similar to this time, there was no ebay logo on the card pic.
(They have now improved and put a text "ebay is excluded".)
Base on info on TCN website, I thought ebay is included and bought $500 of them only to find out it couldn't be swap to ebay gift card.
It took me 2 weeks or so emailing TCN and finally got a full refund.

My lesson learnt: Even if it's the same product name, all these swap gift cards (TCN/Ultimate/Swap etc) can have different sets of merchants on different resellers.

        • +5

It's now proven that JB/TGG is excluded

That’s only because Blackhawk Network (the owners of the gift card scheme) actually removed JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys from the applicable gift card webpages after I posted my comment above, which means they changed the list of participating retailers *after I posted my comment above.

The terms and conditions imply that they can remove participating retailers whenever they feel like it, but I wonder whether that is a fair clause, especially when viewed through the lens of Australian Consumer Law… And let’s not forget it is (in my humble opinion as a cookie-loving monster) a very bad look to remove participating retailers a few hours after a deal becomes popular on OzBargain.

        • +1

          Unfortunately, it's always A third-party reseller’s website

Well you're just flat out wrong because it's false advertising caused by incorrect promotional material being provided by Blackhawk. The link in the table advertised the inclusion of JB, as clear as day.

  • +1

The checkout payment page is getting hammered.

  • The ‘Active & Wellness’ card seems to be different from the ‘Active’ card that actually has the discount. Half the retailers are missing.

    • +2

The Ultimate Active gift card was rebranded to the Ultimate Active & Wellness gift card about a month ago, and the list of the participating retailers was expanded at the same time as well.

  • Are these like "debit cards"? Or for instance, with the Eats card, do you choose whether to turn it into Deliveroo credit or menulog credit?

If menulog credit, then guessing it wouldn't stack with any other promo codes

    • +2

Its a debit card, when using in menulog you just put the card number as payment (like other credit card)
note that menulog doesnt support split payments, meaning if you card balance is lower than the total your payment will fail

For Deliveroo, you can also exchange to credit and store in your account for future use
However, I remember you can only redeem in $50, $30 or $20 block

      • +1

I see, sounds like you've gotta make pretty specific orders otherwise you'll have some leftover on the card.
Maybe not worth it for menulog unless being careful, it will end up being less than 15% with the lost remainder

For deliveroo, is the option on ultimate eats? Or do you "pay" deliveroo directly on their site for gift cards?

For Deliveroo you have an option to "exchange" to deliveroo credit
          Exchange here: https://exchangeyourcard.com.au/

And yes, you are right that its pretty hard to use the left over balance
Exchanging to exact amount credit is the cleanest way to used up the balance
Otherwise you will need to find some restaurants that accept this GC and can allow you to do split payments
(I have done split payment before in Sushi hub)

      • I have not yet either !!

  • Last time I bought Thanks Gift card and then used it to buy JB HIFI gift card via JB HIFI website. Not sure things have changed since then but I did this about 1 month ago.

  • And the verdict regarding TGG and JB ?

    • Bought a stack of the THANK YOU cards, waiting for them to be emailed and will try to buy the JBHIFI EGIFT cards and report back…

      • I would like to know please!

How long do you think JB will put up with people coming in with 50 gift cards to process?

All the employees I spoke to complained, told me they have someone just to deal with people with gift cards.

Only a matter of time they close the loop hole or make it more difficult to use after people abuse the system which is typically people from OzB 🤣
