  • Are there any cards that usually come on sale.. that can be redeemed for eBay vouchers? Thank You…

    • Nope.

    • +9

eBay has been removing itself from various multi-retailer gift cards this year (including TCN Gift, TCN Online and Swap Celebration gift cards), so it seems as though eBay is trying to get out of as many gift card schemes as they can.

Having said that, if you have set up Everyday Pay on the Everyday Rewards app, you can purchase Your Pick gift cards at 3% off. The Your Pick gift card page can be exchanged for a number of different gift cards, and the page currently lists eBay.

        Thank You…
Yeah most of the places they are at 3% off.. But looking to see if I can get more.. :)

      • +1

it was a very sad day when eBay was removed from TCN Gift

  • great

  • This or a straight 5% off through Amex’s Giftz network? I auto-transfer to Qantas FYI

  • are all variable cards eligible?

    • +1

I would say so, because there is no mention of any variable load denominations being excluded from this deal.

However, from what I recall, the only gift cards in this deal currently sold in a variable load denomination at Woolworths are the TCN Deluxe gift card and the Holiday & Hotel gift card (and this is also backed up by the wording of the terms and conditions).

      • Hi WookieMonster, how many TCN gift cards can we use in one transaction? Do different stores have different rules?

        • Which TCN gift cards are you talking about? There are three different types of TCN gift cards in this deal and they behave differently:

          • TCN multi-choice gift cards (i.e. Baby, Deluxe, Gift, Party)

          • TCN experience gift cards (i.e. Pamper)

          • Holiday & Hotel gift cards

I get the sense you are referring to the TCN multi-choice gift cards, so my answer will only refer to them…

Different stores have different rules. For example:

          • No one knows whether JB Hi-Fi has a hard limit for payment card redemptions in their physical stores. Someone last year redeemed 99 in one instore transaction.

          • Supercheap Auto and BCF will only allow you to redeem a maximum of 5 payment cards in one instore transaction.

          • You cannot directly redeem any TCN multi-choice gift cards in this deal on any online store, because they operate on the eftpos network and do not support online transactions. However, you can exchange the TCN gift card for a digital gift card from some participating retailers, and then the terms and conditions of that retailer’s digital gift card (including redemption limits) will apply.

Thanks OP. Been looking to upgrade me dishwasher so this'll come in handy.

  • Can gift cards be used to pay off lay-bys? I couldn't see anything in the FAQs

Specifically, I know a friend that has a pram on lay-by at Baby Bunting. I was going to suggest a GC for them.

    • Called the local store, and they confirmed gift cards can be used for lay-by payments.

  • Can TCN cards be used for online purchases at JB HiFi?

    • +4

      Not directly.

The TCN gift cards in this deal only operate on the eftpos network and do not support online transactions. However, if you have a TCN gift card with JB Hi-Fi listed as a participating retailer, you can currently go to the TCN webpage for that gift card and request to exchange the full or partial balance of your TCN gift card for a digital JB Hi-Fi gift card. You can then redeem that digital JB Hi-Fi gift card either in-store or online at jbhifi.com.au.

      To request an exchange:

      • Go to the webpage for the TCN gift card you have (e.g. TCN Gift). You can find the links to the other TCN gift card webpages in the table in the deal description.
      • Once the webpage finishes loading, scroll down to section showing participating retailer logos.
      • Click/tap on the JB Hi-Fi logo.
      • On the new window that pops up, click/tap on Online and then click/tap Continue.
      • Read the information in the text box, then click/tap on Proceed.
      • Enter the gift card number (starting with 5021) and the PIN (which is underneath the scratch panel), then click/tap Continue.
      • Follow the subsequent steps to have the digital gift card emailed to you.

If you run into any errors when requesting an exchange, try registering the TCN gift card first. The link to registering the TCN gift card will be on the same webpage (towards the top).

You can only get rewards points on maximum of two cards each day. That's way too low!

At least giving points for 5 cards would be better.

Considering gift cards take up little shelf spaces, they should make more stock available rather than having points limit, especially when they are running bonus points promotion.

    • "For cards with a fixed value, limit of 10 cards per day per Rewards Member (can be done across multiple transactions). For TCN Gift $100, Deluxe variable and Holiday & Hotel variable cards where you choose the amount to load, limit of 2 cards per day per Rewards Member in a single transaction."

But you can get 10 of the Party cards as well as 2 of the GIFT ones no ? I'm scared to try so hoping someone else tests that out…

I'm just assuming you're after JB Hi-Fi because aren't we all.

      • Yesterday, I purchased 2 x $100 TCN Gift, 3 x $50 TCN Gift, 1 x $25 TCN Party at same transaction to buy automatic cat litter box form JB HiFi. There was no problem. I got 7500 points.

        • So it won’t be possible to buy (and receive bonus points for) $1,000 of vouchers redeemable at JB in one day?
Because for GIFT you can only get 2x $100, there aren’t any variable load for JB, and although you can redeem more GIFT vouchers, you can’t get the $100 ones (only $25/$50/$75)?

  • +1

Does anyone know what "a day" means? Is it just 12:00AM the next day?

I'm asking because I'm after a couple variable load cards, but didn't know if I should wait a full 24 hours before purchasing the next lot.

    • +2

It's per calendar day. You don't have to wait 24 hours.

  • I saw it says PlayStation store in the above but when I was on the TCN gift site I couldn’t see PlayStation anywhere? Is there anywhere we can confirm this?

    • +4

The list of participating retailers in the deal description was correct when I used my Python script to check the TCN website about two hours ago. (The output of the Python script is what people on OzBargain paste into deal descriptions.)

I also just manually checked the webpage for the only TCN gift card in this deal that features PlayStation Store (TCN Gift, the link to which is in the deal description) and I can see the PlayStation Store logo in the list of participating retailers.

I also just noticed that the PlayStation Store logo is in-between the Smiggle and Sportsgirl logos, which is odd, because I thought the logos were supposed to be in alphabetical order. My Python script actually forces participating retailers to be in alphabetical order, so the order in the deal description does not necessarily reflect the order the logos appear on the actual TCN webpage.

        They’ve sneaked in a secret word :)
        Sm… So… Sp…

  • Is there anyway to get around not being able to do partial swaps to use gift cards online?

For example, swap $100 GIFT card for a $50 gift voucher from JB and another 50 from the good guys.

    • +1

TCN website offered full and partial value swap for JB and GG. But, due to system issue, TCN currently doesn't offer partial value swap.

      • +1

If anyone else in the same situation as I was, you can call them to do partial swaps and they’ll email you the vouchers.

  • hey guys, can i get variable amount for the TCN GIFT or is the max $100 per card to get the 20x woolies points? Planning on getting a fridge from JB Hi-Fi.

    • think only up to $100 for TCN gift - checked my woolies … also the picture only shows up to $100.. also get bonus on 2 X transactions of these cards a day

  • +6

Just completed a $6k transaction with TCN Gift cards 20x $100 cards and 80x $50 cards at The Good Guys. It took about 50min to manually swipe and enter the pin. I had bundles of cards pre scratched and stacked ready to go with the magnetic stripe alternating in the stack so they wouldn't erase each other. Between my wife and I we earned 60,000 Qantas points and we had also paid for the TCN cards on Qantas credit cards earning another 9,000 points just for purchasing.

    • Wow impressive, did they give you attitude 😹

      • Well, the first GoodGuys store kinda did but admittedly they were having EFTPOS issues on the day and they were very busy. I then called another store and their quote on whitegoods (Fridge, Rangehood, Washer, Drier, Ninja Creami) and they price beat the original store and said to come in on a Monday morning when it wasn't busy to do the scanning. The sales folks said it's a record and they couldn't wait to see the receipt. The lady scanning it was visibly annoyed as she couldn't do her normal opening store duties (understandable) but resigned to just got it done and she was awesome. She never gave me attitude and was really friendly throughout the transaction. She was really quick to get into a rhythm to put in each $50 and $100 card. What a machine! Annoyingly, these cards are swipe only and after every 5-8 cards the card terminal had read errors. I had to wipe the magnetic stripe and angle the swipe with an even stroke just so and kept going. Some cards scanned easier than others The $100 cards never had errors and are thicker than the $50 cards.

  • @WookieMonster Do you know if the Category Choice Grocery gift card from HCF Thank You can be used the same way as ShopBack's Supermarket gift card to buy certain gift cards such as the ones in this deal? I remember you mentioning recently that you bought some while they're currently 4% off.

    • +2

Category Choice Groceries gift cards and ShopBack Supermarket visa gift cards should use the same BIN when stored on a mobile wallet, so Woolworths cannot tell the difference between the two gift cards (and therefore treats them as the same).

HCF Thank You is currently selling Category Choice Groceries gift cards at 4% off (with a $1000 spending cap for this sale), but the sale ends tomorrow.

Does this help answer your questions?

      • +1

HCF Thank You is currently selling Category Choice Groceries gift cards at 4% off (with a $1000 spending cap for this sale), but the sale ends tomorrow.

Yep I noticed it earlier. I thought the sale must've already ended as I saw only 3% off last night, but saw the 4% today, luckily hadn't ended yet.

I'm considering buying a $155 value gift card (paying with a Vanilla Mastercard from Woolies) to then buy exactly $155 worth of these TCN cards to swap for JB (to purchase a G54 with $50 coupon). Might even buy more as 4% is a nice discount for Coles and Aldi too. Thanks mate.
