First deal post. 4 pack of Ring stick up cams for $199. Possible pricing error? Cheapest price elsewhere seems to be Amazon for $369. Either way $50 a camera isn’t bad. Just ordered for C&C at my local.

A$14.95/mo, A$149.95/yr
Covers all your devices at one locationCheers - cheaper than Imou premium cloud if have many
You will own nothing, and you will be happy.
Ring cameras need a subscription yeh? (compared to something like eufy)
Not required but a lot of the important features are missing without a sub, compared to Eufy
Ring’s much better
Cloud based storage off premises. If I were to rob someone with Eufy I’d just take their memory card.
I’ve got both at two different houses. Much of a muchness in app and operation though.
Can this be powered via a solar panel? Are the batteries rechargeable? How long does a charge last?
You can buy the solar panel extra. The batteries ‘quick release’ out of the bottom of the camera and charge via micro usb. So you can eject the batteries and charge without removing the camera itself. The battery life depends on the settings you have (how often it detects motion and such) but I get about 2 months on the others I have with basic settings.
The batteries charge very very slowly, you are best off buying two spares for $50
So not true. Get better panels. Mine are on 100% all day even cloudy days. Only drops a little overnight. I have 10 ring cams all with solar panels.
Yes they work with solar panels, there's a little AC port at the back. I bought a cheap aliexpress/ TEMU solar panel to use with one of these to monitor my chooks. Not sure if its the location; or how sensitive i have the camera set to recording but i do run out of power in the wee hours of the morning during winter months.
The ring cams come with a 30 day cloud trial (Cloud recording etc.). What I found is that if you activate one camera every 30 days (after the previous trial subscription has expired) you will get another 30 days. Just a heads up in case you want to stretch out your trial period for a few months :) After the sub has expired completely you still get remote viewing and alerting but no recording ….
That's what i do as well. I haven't figured out if its possible to factory reset them and add them to another person's home for a month and factory reset it again, it should give me an extra 30 days again :)
No I do not think so. If resetting worths $15 then I would rather reset every month…
Yeah that is what i did. During the trial I also found that when the subscrition expires, the false alarm comes up - I think Ring did that on purpose as without the subscription you cannot check the record!
Now I am on 14.95 plan and quite happy with it.
6 to 12 months depending on settings but they do have solar panels and our door changing cables available
looks like a pricing error just brought didn't stop the sale ..when you search for that camera pack it comes up as $367 but when you go into the item it shows $199
i have done it click and collect will see if its gets canceled before i collectMine didn’t get cancelled, ready to collect.
$189.05 if you have PowerPass
U mean one pass?
they are different. OnePass does not give direct discounts but other features whereas PowerPass is for tradies/business with ABN and they get discounts.
Powerpass for eligible users, but means you may get excluded for warranty on tools like Ryobi as it’s warranty is void for trade use
Got a ring door bell. Slowest notification ever. Tried different networks and still so so slow. Bet on purpose so you can look back who was at door. Got relink camera beside it and that notifies almost 5-10 seconds before ring does. Their support is shocking. Also battery crap on door bell as need high settings to get it a bit better. Need to charge every 2 or 3 weeks. Wouldn't get these if even free.
You would if it were free, not fooling anybody buddy
Well, it would come up on marketplace lol.
Unopened.
Eufy doorbell I found not much better
Battery ok though
Not sure why the neg. Here's another post to neg. Just thought some wanted to know before purchase this for $199 + $150 first year and then stuck with $150/year onwards. Try them before subscribing and see the delay and come back and neg again if it works perfect for you and you can catch who is there. Hope better result than mine.
OP good bargain find though. Up voted.I also found notifications were too slow and lots of network problems with the Ring Door Bell.
Ring support eventually told me my internet was too fast and to speak to the internet provider and ask for a slower speed…
They said 5G was problematic and to use 4G but it would need to be slower 4G.Wasted a lot of time stuffing around with this and eventually returned it.
I think what they actually said/meant was you should be using 2.6ghz wifi instead of 5ghz. This is common with IoT devices.
Spent a long time on the support call - they got me to try a lot of stuff.
When I ran a broadband speed test (https://www.speedtest.net/) they said it was too fast and that was the problem.
They were pretty clear I needed to call my internet provider and have the 4G switched to a lower tier speed for the Ring Door Bell but I could still keep my 5G on the faster speed.I appreciate they went to quite a bit of effort to resolve it but I decided to return it and never tried with the slower speed.
have the 4G switched to a lower tier speed for the Ring Door Bell but I could still keep my 5G
Yeah, that's not how it works.
I still maintain they meant 2.6ghz wifi instead of 5ghz wifi. Do you even use 5G for your home internet or do you use NBN?
The speed test would have been to show you're using 5ghz wifi (which is faster). The speed itself wasn't the problem. The fact you were using 5ghz wifi was.
@PainToad: Yeah, I agree - didn't make much sense to me either.
Their support were doing their best to help out - I don't recall GHz even being discussed in the support call - just the broadband speed test and other diagnostics.
But it's solved now, - got Eufy and all works fine on the same WiFi.
Funny thing. My plan expired yesterday that I signed up for. Since keep getting so many more notifications then when on a plan. AND getting them much quicker. No idea what happened. My guess is it has to upload before notification? But that doesnt make any sense. Same network and no changes made.
Ahh, perhaps the issue was on the cloud end with the uploads.
I have 40-50 Mbps upload speed, not too fast (?) - but maybe this is what they were referring to with the speed - if it was causing problems with the cloud upload??
Anyway, doesn't matter now, it's solved since switching systems.
@Joda: Yeah, going with relink. Got 1000/50 speed. Tried Google nest, unifi, dlink. Google is crap as they cannot split the bands and the 2.4 having a hissifit and gets disconnected and reconnects randomly. Since dedicated 2.4 for smart devices. No issues. Ring didn't like Google one and kept disconnecting.
@Joda: I was on 40-50 Mbps and have had several Ring cameras for about 6 years. I rarely have had an issue with delayed recording, but I don't have the doorbell cam. I've got the floodlight cams, spotlight cams, stick up cams all powered and one battery spotlight cam.
I even have an indoor cam outside but under an awning 3yo stick kicking I thought would die.
I'm running an Orbi mesh network. Most complaints I hear are about the doorbell followed by the battery units. The powered flood/spot cam are solid, but the Ring ecosystem definitely doesn't play well on some people's networks but I wouldn't change mine.
THANKS OP! I was very close to buying 2 for $189 on Amazon or Ring website last week but procrastinated
Obligatory warning that Ring has a history of sharing your footage with law enforcement without your knowledge or consent: https://www.news.com.au/technology/online/security/amazons-r…
Eufy was found not to be encrypting videos.

Work on the basic principal that if you have cameras of any brand that connect to the internet (not just for cloud storage), there is always a possibility they may be compromised so position them accordingly.
I was looking at installing security cameras around my house. The security agency quoted $2000 to install 4 6mp cameras and 4 sensors.
Can I install these around the house myself? Would be much cheaper.
I looking for advice on this.
Yes you can as long as you have sufficient WiFi Coverage (especially outside) and are happy to charge batteries. Plus pay the $15 device subscription to get more features/storage.
Nothing will beat a dedicated system back to a NVR which are often cabled. $2000 for 4 cameras is a bit much. For $2000 I would install 8 cameras and they would be a minimum of 8mp all back to an NVR.
So whilst it might be cheaper, you need consider convenience and quality plus downtime for when you charge the batteries. Would hate for a post of "house got broken into when I was charging my batteries", need a new solution.
Something else to consider is that a lot of these solutions need internet to view. So if your internet goes down, so do your cameras. A dedicated solution can be independent and record 24/7 regardless of your internet be up. Obviously if you are not home, you need internet to view the cameras, but at least it would be recording if your internet provider had an outage.
bit much
Yeah…a little - but to be fair, access might be a pain and other variables. Always a pain in the ass to compare these kinds of quotes unless they are literally quoting same type of install and exact same gear.
Thank you for all the information. You seem to be really knowledgeable on this topic.
Do you know someone, and would you refer them to me, for installing the security cameras?
Depends on your location. Are you in VIC? If so, send me a PM.
Anyone know if you Can you split them over separate networks in the same account? like can I use 2 for home and 2 at my work and still only pay 1 subscription fee ?
You can but the cameras will appear as one location
Ring website says - “While not required to use Locations, you can only have one Ring Plan (Standard or Premium) to cover one Location“
I always assumed that meant multiple subscriptions required
Bought few when amazon prime was having a deal 2 for $98.50 about a month ago. New to security cam, was looking for quick cheap fix, so far ok. Currently on trial sub but i find notification alright but cam loading when clicked through that movement notification little slow/lag. Not sure if its got to do with internet speed? Also little delay when talking through cam, like the news room vs reporter situation…
Thanks OP, Just bought a pack of 4,
Already have a sub with 7 cameras running, I recently had an issue with a 3 year old battery spotlight camera stopped working, Ring support were great, Did various checks then arranged an exchange for the latest model at no charge- Also got an additional month of subscription for free when I activated it.
Not sure if activating these 4 cameras at the same time will get me 4 months of subscriptions or if I should activate them one month at a time.one month at a time…
Back to 369 bugger
Still shows $199 for me.
yeah back to 199 for me now too
AmazonAU also matched for $199 as per bargain-lover007
Don't mind giving Ring ecosystem a try when Amazon upsizes the cashback :)
noticed the model number at bunnings is B09P46G8MR whilst amazon and office works is B0C79D56RV. would this just be a bunnings specific thing and both be the same?
Hey there, you are correct that it is B09P46G8MR however I can confirm I have purchased from bunnings and on the invoice it is B0C79D56RV, I also compared to Harvey Norman and Harvey Norman has the same model number B0C79D56RV which is the 3rd gen.
I think not - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/891137
Was 2 for 99 previously - someone said in that thread if you want the subscription it’s $100/ 2 cam per year
