    Or $78 at Hardly Normal

I bought one of these, returned it under warranty same day due to buzzing audio in the recordings. The replacement unit had the same, so returned for a refund the same day.
The EUFY C220 I got does not have this issue (Also the C220 uses USB-C and the Indoorcam linked above uses Mini USB).
But the C220 can't track pets which is what I want it for

    • +2

I believe these actually use Micro USB, rather than Mini. https://www.memorysuppliers.com/blogs/memory-suppliers-blog/…

    • You mean Tapo C220

    • Have you considered the TP link tapo c200/202/210/220? Also wanting to track pets. Any recommendations?

      • The Tapo C220 was my latest return, also has really bad static on the microphone

        • From what I've noticed, some devices seem to have an automatic mic volume, so if it is fairly quiet the background noise becomes much louder as the mic sensitivity adjusts.
Also, if you're having issues with multiple units from multiple brands, maybe it's being caused by local interference from a nearby device. Maybe try turning off nearby devices or testing in an area well away from other devices? Just some thoughts.

          • @A 1: Even when the mic was muted, I had the static noise coming through.
The current camera I'm using (EUFY C220) has no static coming through on the mic.

These are decent, I got from goodbuyz for $89 recently with CART20 deal. Have paired with Homebase 3, and external eufy cams, auto motion tracking works well

  • Inside… What are you protecting? The crown jewels?

      Spying on kids

Great for keeping an eye on the pets, the migrant housekeeper and ghosts.

      • +7

You obviously also have one to monitor the safe where you kept said migrant housekeeper's passport right? If not, that's a rookie setup.

        • Spot on 🙏

any under $20 camera that can use micro sd card?

  • I’ve always wanted to get some security camera for inside the house but was just gonna get the outdoor ones with the 180/365 day battery and place them inside rather then use the indoor ones that require power cable and Ethernet.

Is the way I’m thinking a bad way to go about it?

I was looking at Eufy or Arlo

We are Apple Ecosystem using a Amazon Eero wifi 6plus system

    • I'd get the e330, which records 24/7 video. Videos are stored in the base via wireless connection. Power is wired, but as you are putting them indoors, it shouldn't be a problem. Best of all, this is much cheaper than the similar battery version.

    • -1

You generally want wired (at least for power). If it is battery operated, it might only capture / record motion (to save battery). Outdoor might be fine, but indoor could have more movement. Wired, you can do 24/7 recording.

Apple ecosystem, then you might want to consider HomeKit support.

      • Any recommendations on a brand and model?

  • using 2x of these camerasfor over 2yrs now… no complaint so far

  • -3

these suck. narrow FOV, and no good for recordings cuz it's not pointing to the right place.
even if You're controlling it it's so narrow FOV and it moves so slowly you can't follow someone moving about the room.

Despite this being an indoor cam, they can be craftily set up to monitor the outside too. Lifehackster has a few videos of how he's set up some indoor cams at a window to keep an eye on outside activities. Key features is the indoor cam has to have motion detection, and, if you need it, motion tracking.

I don't have this cam but have the C220 set up on my upstairs front window looking down on my front fence, the footpath and the section of street in front of my house so I have an idea of any issues that are occurring at the front of my property. It's not paired with my homebase so I can exclude the camera from triggering alarms.

  • I have one of these and it dies 24/7 continuous recording which is great.

  • Should I return the TAPO c220 for this?

    • I own the eufy C220 in addition to a few Tapo C220s… can't speak about the eufy model in this deal but the eufy C220 is decent but I would choose the Tapo over eufy based on price and value, provided you didn't need the internal cam to interface with the eufy ecosystem or any of the other eufy features not in the Tapo.

If you do get the eufy, the Tapo C220s are still great, cheap little things to keep around at $20-50 each depending on when you bought.

I have 4 Tapos setup around the house to monitor my pug, keep an eye on a blind spot that my main eufy setup doesn't always monitor, and to give visual confirmation if my garage door was closed properly. I gave two to my brother to use as a baby monitor and to keep an eye on what's happening at the front of his property from the window sill, and I have two spare ones I've just set up at my parents' place whilst they're away so I can keep an eye on their property. The Tapos have a motion alarm and since no one is at my parents' place, the only thing that will trigger this is an intruder.

Note, internal cams can be set up to monitor the outside from behind a window:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CCjXDxWtpk

It's not perfect but an internal cam with motion tracking and the ability to have the sensor light and night IR turned off will do the trick.

  • have this one for a couple of years. brilliant

    • is there a subscription you need to pay to be able to view the live stream? Or can anyone setup with home wifi and view stream no matter where in the world they are?

      • It’s free, no subscription needed. I’m overseas right now and can watch the streams for my cameras at home. They offer a subscription but it just provides cloud storage (and there are other ways to solve that).

You can also share the streams with other people if they get the app and setup an account; five people per camera I think.

        • Which other ways to do cloud storage for eufy webcams?

          • +2

@beesider: Save locally to NAS then backup to cloud or HomeKit Secure Video. I’m now just doing HKSV because I have other brands of camera going in using Scrypted, but it was a pain to get working reliably (on the HKSV side, Scrypted is great.)

  • Also had this for quite a few years and it still works great. On a separate note, did anyone else miss our on their birthday perks voucher because they got unsubscribed? I missed out on mine and upon checking it prompted me to join again and welcomed me back upon doing so..

  • Can these record to local hdd/nas rather than microsd

    • Yeah if you pair it with a Homebase.

      • Does it pair with Homebase 2?

        • Not sure sorry. Pairs with my Homebase 3 at least.

      • +1

The amazon listing says not compatible with Homebase in the heading?
        https://www.amazon.com.au/Security-Assistant-Compatibility-T…

Also The JB Hifi review mentions not compatible with Homebase (2nd review also under Most Helpful Critical Review)

  • Price beat to $75 at JBHifi as Harvey Norman selling for $78

  • Are these Wifi connection only or is there a Ethernet input option?

Awhile ago I used a Foscam R2 camera and it was connected via a Ethernet cable and when viewing on iPhone app while in the home the image and movement was ok but if you went outside the house and the image became laggy with movement. If you connected the camera to Wifi then it was very laggy inside the house and outside the out was even worse!

Are these the same or better?

    • Its wifi, the only wire is for power USB. live stream you can talk both ways as well feels like video call. Find review on internet or YouTube

      • Thanks
Have seen a few reviews saying that these drop connection a lot and need a reboot to fix. Most of these reviews are a couple of years old tho, has this issue been fixed as it would be a pain if your away and it happens

  • Does anyone know if this can connect to Homebase 2? The Eufy website seems to have abandoned any compatibility info about the 2.

    • +2

I believe its work separately not under your homebase but use the same app just add the camera to your account

      • I don't even want to record footage, just be able to check in on the kids and dog remotely. As long as it connects to WIFI and uses the same app I should be good, in that case.

  • This one or the TP Link C220?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/897102

Can be had for $49 via TGG price beat:

    https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/tp-link-tapo-2k-pantilt-home-…

I rather get the better one than save $30. Does anyone know which one is better?

    • I wonder why GG are not matching JB or HN via the price beat for the Eufy camera in this deal.

  • does this work with homebase 2?
