I’m using one of this they have a good video quality. Price is very reasonable. Tracking is awesome.

  • Can this be used as a baby monitor?

    • I use the lower C210 as a baby camera, wife and I stream it to our phones using the Tapo app, we can also stream it to our google Home Screen but it times out after 5-10min so always have to ask google to show the camera again.
We don’t record so can’t comment on the SD card part.
We use the built in mic to hear if the baby starts crying.
Only thing is apparently it can connect to HomeKit but I forgot to scan the QR code to add it before throwing the box away and installing the cam. Hope this helps, we would recommend the C210 a lot cheaper than a baby bunting cam

      • I am suffering from this issue. Every 5 10 minutes have to press continue watching. Despite on the same network. People complaining since years

        • I am using one with SD card, and we never encounter any time limit to view the current stream, it's able to stream continuously to our phones if we want to keep watching the baby

          • @vandal: Not sure why many complaining, you are lucky

          • @vandal: I’ll just clarify the timing out issues is only on the google home device.
Streaming works perfectly from the app on our phones.

      • I'm also using a C210 for the same purpose (as a baby monitor). I havent had any timing out issues, but I do have a SD card in it. This could be why there hasn't been any timing out problems for me.

    • Haven't tried the Tapo app but the camera does feature baby crying detection. Not sure if it'll cut it as a baby monitor replacement though

For almost 5 years we've been using a mobile app called tinyCam monitor Pro (paid version) on our Android phones. It's worked really well for us and works locally, no need for cloud or internet connectivity

At the time, I had issues finding a cost effective baby monitoring system that allowed me to monitor multiple cameras simultaneously with audio so I can monitor our baby and toddler at the same time. Most multi camera baby monitoring systems only allowed 1 live audio feed

With the app I was able to add the cameras via ONVIF with audio which allowed brand flexibility (may require additional setup within the camera), enable background audio so I can have it playing so I can lock my phone or continue using my phone without having to always be in the app, enable audio in multiple layout to hear both audio streams, increase audio amplification per camera so it can be loud enough to wake us up and enable keep screen on if I wanted to monitor the cameras without my phone timing out and locking. Initially I had a few issues where the feed would drift a few seconds, sometimes upwards of a +30 second delay, but after tweaking the settings and mainly bringing the bit rate down, I was able to get it to work with minimal drift. If multiple is not required, all that can still work with a single camera

I would trial it out first and seek professional advice on choosing baby monitors as this method was more of a workaround that resolved our issue. Also, it's not a simple plug and play solution. Some may have some technical difficulty seeing this up

We have another one on the way and I'm planning on buying this for the pan/tilt feature, add it to the app (camera supports ONVIF) for the features above and still pair the camera with the Tapo app to see what smart features are available

    • Using it now as a baby monitor. Best bargain ever. The crying detection sends an alert to your phone. Its super clear image. Wife and I use the tapo app on our phones and vlc for the tablet. Previously had an over priced baby monitor with crappy monitor. This tapo is way better

  • Does anyone know if this is powered by 5V?

    • +2

I have the C210 and it uses a 9V barrel type plug. I suspect this would be the same.

      • Thanks, was hoping i could power it with a usb port

        • I’ve never done this but maybe you should look into something like this to convert 5V USB to 9V barrel. I think the Tapo uses a 2.1mm barrel but you’ll need to confirm.

    • I have run the c200 and c210 from 5v.
Until recently it was working fine then I had issues and couldn't figure out why.
Then I remembered I was running it from 5v and switched it back to the original 9v adaptor and it started working again.
      I'm now running the c110 from 5v.

Thank you. Used a $20 GG voucher so paid $29 inc delivery.

  • I could be wrong but I think the TC72 @ Amazon listed in the deal, is slightly different to the C220 @ JB HI-FI. The TC72 seems to have a light and sound alarm, but I can't see this feature listed for the C220. Even the images are different, one has a ring of white around the outer black area of the lens the other doesn't. Might not be an essential feature for most.

  • The Tapo site says the c220 has a siren volume, and a light.

Will Jbhifi match good guy’s $49 price beat? :)

  • thanks, bought one from good guys, no free shipping per description though

  • Was thinking of putting this on a window sill pointing out to watch the porch/street. would it be ok for that purpose and or as a pet (dog) cam?

works great during day time, will struggle to see past glass at night time when it switches to nigh vision

    • I use these for this very purpose.
You'll need to turn the IR light off to view at night time due to glass's ability to reflect infrared light.
For proper night vision without the IR though you might want to find something with a starlight sensor.

  • Weren't these on special on Black Friday for about two for $45?

    • That was a different model (C210)

  • Purchased with TGG and got free shipping to Melbourne. Thanks OP

  • does this track motion? tilt and pan only manually?

    • Yeah it tracks. Used to be a paid feature but is now free

  • this might be a dumb question: can you view the camera remotely via the Internet, or do you need to be on the local network?

    • can view it remotely via internet
