I got 4 x C210's from Harvey norman for $116. They work great, only request is I wish there was a desktop app. Other than that no issues. Cameras are very good.

    • you can use some open source app/services to stream your cameras to your pc/server. Tapo supports RTSP, and its easily to configure

or run android emulator on windows and install android apk

      • Might have to look into this thanks

C200 is $39 at Amazon. As @cyrax83 said - they work great.
Had a Wyze cam for a while and the app constantly pushed their subscription plans. Tapo doesn't seem to care and local storage via SD works just fine.

    • Wyze is good and cheap for outdoor use. Their detection sensor is pretty 'sensitive' and buffering is quite good (fast).

      Note: I use both.

      • hmm tempted to change my imou to this, only because i have tapo smart plug and i want one app for all

      • Problem with Wyze is so many features locked behind subscription paywall, they are awfully slow to fix issues (like detection zones on certain models firmware still have issues), and the most annoying… 5min cool down for notifications. I have 6 Wyze cams of various models but am going to slowly get rid of them. Maybe give TP-Link a go.

    • Different model though. C200 is 1080p where C210 is 2K 3mp. But I suppose you're referring to the wifi and app integration which would be pretty much the same.

      • Yeah app features is the main thing.

I find 1080p is better because while checking in for 5s I don't want to load a 2k stream. However I assume you can choose what quality you stream remotely.

    • Potentially silly question. I have this from another deal.

Is it just a case of me being able to buy this, link it to the same app and I've essentially just adding cameras to my vision? Or do I need to be wary of the types of cameras?

      • +1

Yes, all the Tapo cameras and devices work together through the same app.

  • Anyone used this model (C220) specifically? Just reading amazon reviews, a lot of people reporting connection issues, Id like to know how widespread it is.

    • I use it as baby monitoring cam. No complaints.I would recommend camera mount from aliexpress if using as baby monitoring cam.

      • Do you have a link to the camera mount as I'm looking the camera as a baby cam as well.

  • How do you access the cam outside of the wifi network it's in?

    • likely need to enable port forwarding but comes with risks

      • I take this back, the people below are correct!
i had to port forward for reolink, but my ring and tapo can be accessed remotely without config

I tried turning off wifi, using mobile internet, it connects fine for me. I didn't do anything to make that happen

The main way of viewing the camera feed and interacting with it generally is through the Android or iOS app, which works as long as you have any internet connection.

    • +1

i have imou cam and android app works everywhere as long you have internet, no manual setting nothing just works

Use the Tapo app. Doesn't need port forwarding as long as camera is connected to a network that has internet access.

  • What's good cheap security camera that can work in front of the house?
(watch front of house as one time someome stole my bike from my house porch / entrance ) just outside my door. I had my roller shutters doen and ir was like 5am … Didn't know . til i looked out later when shutters were up :(

with cloud streamingt? is battery powered good option or not really guys ?

    • You'll want powered, the battery cameras are not meant for continuous live streaming. Yiu might get away with movement detection isolated to just your door with a battery camera - that can notify you when movement is detected but may or may not meet your requirements.

Another option might be to use a smart door sensor - that way you can know if yiur garage door is in the open or closed position at any time.

    • Tapo c400, set it to run on event-recording mode and it will last up to 6 months (in our scenario, at least, and just for the front yard/porch/entrance).

Edit: It saves the recording back to the hub which also can be configured to play an alarm sound.

  • Indoor only yeah?? - cant find any detail even on tapo site.

    • Yeah, I don't think these are weather-proof.
