I had one, it was shit house
The base thing would disconnect from my wifi every 24 hours, which would mean it would be a standard doorbell ad there’s no internet connection.
    Tapo support was rubbish

Now I have a eufy c31 and chime. Hasn’t faulted for weeks.

interesting… is your base close to your router or you have like 2 ap perhaps and the base thing is in the middle of both? i have like 2 routers, 1 as ap. i found that the middle section of both router is like a black spot. I wont get any connection or devices often just disconnect. Almost like they cant decide which router they should link lol.

        Yup it’s like 10 m away.
In another room but straight as the crow files.
        It’s 2.4ghz
Only one AP in the house
It’s a know issue if you google the symptoms.
I had HW V1.0, support just told me to try upgrading the firmware which it had Jan2025 version and reset it.
Sent it back to Amazon for a refund.

  • I have one, works well. Only downside is having to recharge the battery often depending on how many times it's triggered. Purchased a spare battery so I can swap out when the in-use one is running low.

Not too sure why the other commentor's hub keeps disconnecting, mine has been going well and I use it with other Tapo devices.

  • Been contemplating on buying one. But most of the time, parcel delivery guys don't bother hitting our current old fashioned doorbell, and i think "somebody's at the front door" can be annoying given that there can be quite a foot traffic in our area.

    • have you considered blocking out some of the area that you don't want coming up as false positives?
      (if it offers this)

      • it does

i have one, works very well

  • I have one as well. Works well, that being said my router is close by. I suggest to get another battery to easily swap when low. No need for a subscription which was a must for me.

  • One word, Reolink.

  • I've had 2 cameras and a base station for like a year now, been looking for a doorbell on its own ever since, super reliable, hasn't had any issues other than me setting the tracking areas poorly and having it miss a corner of our driveway but that doesn't really matter since having the camera there in the first place is a deterrent for the less noble people.

  • Bought this July 2024 for $150 from Amazon, was from a deal posted here

No issues at all, except for the micro USB charging plug on the battery, as in, I've got one cable left that's micro USB, everything else is USB C

There is a slight delay when speaking to the postman from work when I get parcels delivered, though I only have 50/20 internet connection
