The free filament got jammed, ended up cutting it and pushing it out and putting my filament in!

how required is the enclosure kit? I'm looking to print in PLA only, however, I suppose the sound deadening of it is also worthwhile?

yes, it is probably worthwhile in terms of savings in electricity. A 2kw system won't be generating much excess solar to export
