        • Should be another way round? This new one is more power efficient for Plex.

Old one just replaced the HDD to ssd

          • @edgar28: If I ever come to setting up a Plex then I might get another PC like the one posted here, or a newer one. I might use my old (current) one for spare parts as it isn't compatible with Win 11, and Win 10 won't be getting security updates after October next year, per comments posted in this deal.

  • Great little box. Perfect for a Plex/Jellyfin/HomeAssistant server.

  • any good cheap monitor to pair with this - sub $100

  • Any sub-$100 machines on the way op? Preferably mini/micro like this :)

  • Resisting the urge to replace my other USFF i5-8500T Lenovo machine (proxmox) probably not worth it

    • Doubt it is worth it.

    • +1

      Definitely not worth it

  • How many watt is the supplied power adapter ?

  • Hey @Calmago looks like my order went through (payment deducted) but I don't see anything on my orders page or in my email. Could you please assist? Thank you

    • Check your junk folder. Mine went there and I had to redirect it to my inbox.

    • Hey mate, you'll have to PM me your details including how you paid

      • G'day Calmago, I bought one of these units this arvo for the olds and thought I chose free delivery. I received the confirmation later on that my order was ready to be picked up from Murarrie. By this time the call centre was closed. Do you think I should cancel my order and reorder or if I give em a call in the will they still be able to post it to me?

        • I meant in the morn. Thanks in advance too.

          • @Brendonis: Hey mate. If you send through an email through the website, the customer service team will have to ordered shipped out

      • All sorted. Thank you!

  • Do you recommend Dell or Lenovo in this form factor for homelab purpose (Home Assistant, Jellyfin, Pihole on Proxmox) ? Or there isnt much to it ? I keep my equipment in my garage, so want something which can stay cool in Melbourne summers as well.

    • +1

I'm running those (plus a couple of others) minus Jellyfin on a 2014 D34010 NUC with 16GB RAM so I think there isn't much to it. I guess transcoding with Jellyfin is going to be the difference for processing power/heat though.

Good little units, bought one last year for $241

Edit: Someone in Wonglepong purchased one, shout out to the Wongleponger!

  • This will be for office use, mainly Excel. I am just wondering if it is worth paying the extra $60 to get the i7 9700 model.

    https://www.australiancomputertraders.com.au/dell-optiplex-7…

    Any ideas?

    • +1

I reckon you're better off spending the $60 to upgrading the RAM to 32GB. Although I don't personally use Excel intensively, the most common CPU given to savy Excel users at my work are i5 processors.

      • I think office work doesn't need that much ram while browsing does (note: Ozb sites consume a lot of unusual memory lately due to memory leak from my guess so I can't leave the pages open unattended for long anymore). But for ram price these days, why not? I'd wait for a deal on rams and upgrade myself.

  • Bought one to upgrade my 6500t - truenas and plex server. Goodluck for my migration.

  • Mates looking for a cheap pc for just standard basic usage, and trying his hand with a basic 3d printer. The 3d printing being the main basis for getting one. Would something like this be an alright option? (Looking at a quick google it looks like as long as the pc is 8gb ram and 4 cores it should be fine for it, but just asking in case anyone has a bit more personal experience in it and can comment)

    • +1

bought the 7060 for the workshop for the same purpose.I hooked it up to a 55 inch samsung TV. Awesome for youtube, online manuals etc and the odd game of Age of Empires. great little quiet pc that is rock solid and has zero driver issues. not power hungry so I just leave it on. Super happy with it. he won't be disappointed

  • Is the Windows 11 license transferable?

    • I don't think they have a sticker there anymore.

    • It's coded in the BIOS.

      • Hey, does that mean if I upgrade the SSD with a bigger one the Windows OS will still work on the new disk? Sorry if that sounds nooby as I haven't upgraded a PC for a very long time, and the last time I did it was back when we had to use a CD to install the OS, and enter that long line of "product key". This all seems foreign to me, but a few YouTube tutorials will sort things out, hopefully.

        • +1

          Yes it will work.

You can make a bootable USB straight from the Microsoft website. Don't get sucked into a dodgey ISO from some 3rd party site.

  • Main questions. Does it have HDMI out and can it handle 4K display 60hz output or 1080p only

    • No.

It can handle 4K 60hz via DP.

You can try your luck with a DP > HDMI adapter but doesn’t every 4K monitor have DP?

      • Thanks I was thinking of hooking up to TV

  • Do these refurb units go through any sort of memory or disk testing prior to being sold?

I recently bought a refurb unit from another vendor and it was plagued with memory issues. They said it was "thoroughly tested" though Memtest returned errors immediately. After a bit of back and forth, they sent me another stick and lo and behold, the new one also had errors. I just gave up and bought new RAM off Amazon.

    • I doubt it, the time memtest would take etc would eat into the margins on these things.

You'll be lucky to get a new BIOS battery etc….happy to be proven wrong though!

  • Would I be able to connect this to a 4K projector and watch 4K content through it. The projector has HDMI input what cables would I need for 4K@60Hz?

    • It doesn't hav e HDMI out, so no.

  • Hey everyone any thoughts on whether it is a good idea / worth it to upgrade the ram to 32 GB for an additional 99 dollars ? Thanks.

    • 16GB should be good enough unless you are into virtual machines and stuff like that..

it just depends on what planning to use it for

      • +1

I'm running several virtual machines in 16GB, no problem.

p.s. FYI these are almost indistinguishable from the 7060. 9th gen intel is same chip with a tiny clock rate increase.

      • Thanks a lot . That was really helpful .

      • Thanks ! Kids homework and they love mine craft !

  • -1

    Showing as $389 for me?

    • -1

      Same.

      I was keen, too…

      • +1

Apply the discount code maybe you dummies?!

        • It didn't work for me with the code. I'll try another browser.

    • +1

      Apply the code silly!

  • Would this be good to use to setup as a linux server, minecraft server and a plex media server or something and a cloud server???

That's running 24/7 would it use a lot of power or not really?

Any idea how to setup a plex media server guys??
Install the netflix library on it or something and the entirety of IPTV Australia?
Tips and Tricks? Let me know thanks guys! <3 Ozbargain!

    • Your gonna need 2 GPU's….

      • wait why

        • Sorry I thought your question was in sarcasm at the often repeated queries when these come up.

More serious answer then - these are low power users made for when an office is full of them so low cost to run and yes a lot of people use them for lightweight and media serving duties. I reccomend an upgrade to the wifi
card for about $30 to wifi6 or better if you have it if you want to share big files over wifi.

  • Could I plug a USB Type-C to 3X HDMI MST Hub (https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07667D37V?th=1) and hook this up to 3 monitors (1080p)?

  • I have been looking at these deals for a while and thinking about moving Plex off of my nas and onto a dedicated machine like this for a transcoding boost. I know better machines will always become available but would I get a few years out of this? Better to wait for something like an 11th gen or just go with this?

    • This will make an excellent Plex server. 7th Gen onwards support hardware accelerated HEVC transcoding.

  • With Windows 11 and this PC, if I get multiple of them.

If I set it up with network, printers etc to be up and running, if I clone the hard drive, will the clone work 100% in the another PC (different bios embedded product key)?

I rather not set up Win multiples times if I don't need to (I'm going to wipe the pre-installed Win 11 anyway)

    • Yes

      • OK thanks!

  • Out of stock? I put one in the cart for my grandparents, went to order 2 minutes later and already too late :(
Any other good options around that price?

    • +1

They come around fairly regularly. It's a good price though so you need to be ready to jump.

    • +1

The guys will restock through out the day, but that was the bulk of it burnt through.

  • Noob question. Should these perform in a similar manner to brand new entry level desktops and laptops? I basically just use office, google, YouTube and the occasional Lightroom photo edit thrown in.

    • For office, google, YouTube yes, I will say yes.

Cannot confirm for Lightroom as I've never used it.

      • Thanks for that. Appears they're out of stock. Would appreciate recommendations for similar units too if people have any : )

        • I believe there will be more from this store or other stores at a similar price. Check again later as more stock should be coming throughout the day

          Otherwise wait for another store.

    • Most brand new entry level desktops are straight up garbage, try looking at any of the main retailers. Can't get a regular pc these days for any decent price except online.

  • -2

Click bate, they had like 5 of them :| australian computer traders

    • +1

Look when this was listed, it's a cracker price.

I can confirm they had more than 5, because I purchased more than 5 yesterday.

    • +2

      More like 1000

      • +1

That's a lot of computers! Out of curiosity's sake, any chance you can disclose where this particular batch came from?

  • They are $389 now…

    • It's all along $389, you have to enter the code.

  • +4

another 150 units have been added.

    • Thanks mate grabbed one. What a time to be alive when we can get this much computing power in a small form factor, including Windows license for this price. :)

    • Hey mate! My WiFi card doesn’t seem to working. I don’t see an option to enable it. Am I missing something or is that broken?

Also how do we know our genuine windows key? If I wanted to transfer it another machine or sth.

  • Do they make generic versions of the Dell monitor stand? Just wondering the cheap ozbargain way to set it up. Lol

  • I'm assuming a no, but would there be any way to get a video card into this? (hacking is fine) I'm thinking low-end/off-line video editing, not gaming btw.

    • Nope. No slots for one.

    • I believe there are adapters allowing you to plug a graphics card into the M2 slot.

  • I looked at the specs and the CPU is a little worse than my existing PC with Ryzen 2200G, and the integrated graphics significantly worse. Wish I had use for a second PC.

  • Considering that these are used, how would one check for malware etc? If I want to do a clean windows install, is the license included?

    • It'll activate itself when you go online.

  • Surprised the deal is still going, guess a large number last ended their lease.

    • What I can say is some of these units are probably from Queensland Children’s hospital

      • That does not sound right because I doubt it would be allowed.

There are various antibiotic resistant bacteria in the hospital environment…

Not only does it affect the workers at ACT if they are doing so, they are also potentially putting the public at risk.

        • All I can say is I am working at the hospital and all the PCs were recently replaced. Not sure about the protocol but don’t underestimate Queensland Health. They've spent a lot of money for infection control.

  • Anyone know if this accepts an NVMe HDD or only 2.5 SSD

    • +2

You can use NVMe M2 and Sata 2.5 SSD/HDD

  • -1

Any way to get them with Windows Pro?

    • +1

They have Windows 11 Pro according to the description.
