Great price, reminder this it NOT the Type-C model just in case people are after it for work/laptop via Type C connectivity

    • Any recommendations for USB-C version? With a bang for buck price. Thanks.

      • +1

        S2722DC

Just the type C version of this. Will cost you an extra hundred+ though.

I own the QC, it's an amazing monitor for work use. Works great with Mac. Windows has the odd scaling issue, however. I use mine as a secondary screen though.

If you're mostly in the Windows space, the S2722DC is probably better, no scaling issues, great PPI, and decent enough for some basic gaming too, and being 1440p is much easier to run than 4k IF you do want to do some casual gaming too.

        • This is an excellent monitor BUT beware, it has an issue with MacBook M2 machines. It may start flickering in Zoom and there is no way to calm it down. Once started flickering, it would do it for a day roughly regardless which other computers you connect it to. None of the tricks people suggest on internet works (ie. change to 60Hz, use HDMI instead USB-C, or vice-versa, use better cable, use docking station, use another port, restart, reboot, rewire - nothing helps!). After chatting with Dell support for a while turned out this monitor not compatible with M2. Full stop. I had to sell mine. But if you're on Window PC, or using older Macs, or perhaps not using Zoom, should be fine. An excellent monitor.

          • @candobetter: Okay with M1 though?

            • @Greenback16: I used it for a year with Intel based mac with no issues, then jumped to M2 directly, haven't tried M1.

          • +2

@candobetter: Yep it's ridiculous that some Dell monitors are not Mac compatible. I had the same thing with a 32" model. Managed to get Dell to give me a full refund though - I argued it was not mentioned anywhere on their website or in their documentation.

          • @candobetter: Is this issue just with Zoom or does it happen with other applications?

            • +1

@marcoakis: It was happening in Zoom only. It took a few weeks to realise that. It worked fine with any other application I had. It was a monitor to WFH so can't say for graphical/gaming stuff.

      • -2

Just get a good quality hdmi to type C connector and you would be good.

        • +2

Would it be able to draw power though?

The main appeal of a USB-C monitor for me is that it can power the device, connect mouse, keyboard and display (and network cable) all on the same cable.

      • +2

I'm happy with my Samsung S6U 32in. It's larger, and has 90W charging instead of 65W. Good value, widely available for $349 (RRP $599).

      • S2722QC is higher res. Compare both S2722DC vs S2722QC :
        https://www.displaydb.com/compare/dell-s2722dc/dell-s2722qc

      • you can get usb and ethernet splitters/hubs for 15 on amazon

        • That's what I thought as well, especially I've already got one hub. So, could I just purchase this one to be used with a Cygnett Hub instead of paying 100+ extra for the one with USB-C?

    • If you have a dock does it remove the need for type C monitor?

      • It depends - how many monitors will you be running?

    • Would an adaptor work for HDMI to type C? I have a Macbook and a Cygnett USB hub marked with 4k@30HZ, BC1.2 etc, wondering if it'd work with monitors without a type C, as I've not been using the Cygnett for a long time, forgot how it's supposed to be working

      • Which Macbook? The Air and non-pro Macbook Pro M1s work with USB-C to HDMI cables, but if you're planning on running more than one monitor, the extra monitor will only run in mirror mode, as M1s (non-Max and Ultra) only support one external monitor.

For more monitors you'd need a DisplayLink adaptor, which emulates another screen (they work really well, by the way).

What exactly are you trying to accomplish?

        • Macbook Air,1 external monitor's fine.

      • Would a 4k@30 hz hub run 2k @ 60 hz?

  • +3

I have had two for the past 2 years and they have been awesome for my home office, would recommend for a great budget monitor.

  • +5

Incredible price for a great budget monitor, especially with the student discount of 7% taking it down to $240.43

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/810536

I've been using this monitor for a couple of years for WFH and I just bought another one a couple of days ago

    • Anyone have access to a 7% discount they won't be using? That method doesn't work anymore unless you have access to a .edu email address.

      • +1

        It still works

Click through the link in the link above, and instead of using a .edu, try the cryptogmail instead

        • +2

That worked. Thank you very much for your assistance, it was very easy after your help.

          Cheers.

Tried this but didn't end up receiving any codes. Oh well.

Edit: received the code but it took a little while

  • Just being curious. Why I’m seeing $259.6 on my side. Anyone seeing the same price?

    • +2

Adding to cart takes off another $1, for some reason

  • Got one thanks

    • Fek. Missed the student discount hack

      • +2

Someone revoke my ozb license. I'm not worthy

  • +1

Been running one for over a year at work now, well worth the price! 75hz is actually a reasonable upgrade when comparing it to my 60hz second monitor..

    • Are you using it for gaming?
      I have a 60Hz and a 144Hz, couldn't see the difference.

      • +2

Nah, I have a 165hz display at home I use for gaming, playing at 60hz feels like a slideshow after this many years.

      • +3

        Yes you can, immediately.

Make sure you're actually displaying 144hz

    • some monitors you can force them to run higher refresh rate.

Some will overclock 20hz or more but a budget one may not OC much to notice

  • -1

    Any tax experts here?
Could I get three of these and write them off as WFH deduction

    • -2

Not an expert but I think you buy them one each order, total invoice amount on each invoice would be less than 300

      • Are you saying that I couldnt purchase 3x in the same order to claim the deduction?

      • +1

That would be wrong. Look it up for more info.

  • +2

Worth mentioning IPS in the title, I assumed VA at this price :)

    • +1

This. Freaked out a little after ordering because I forgot to check haha

  • What’s the recommendation for USBC monitor in a similar range?

    • Also interested in this

  • Can someone please comment on how this holds up for Wfh usage in terms of apps like Power BI, Excel, dbeaver (or coding)? I've never used a resolution of 2560 x 1440 before. So not sure how these applications would look visually. Currently on FHD setup.

    • +5

qHD is ideal for office use (eg. Excel) as no scaling is required. Text is readable perfectly fine, where on the same sized 4k monitor it would have to be scaled up.
I've been using those monitors since 2020 and am very happy with them. Great value for money (have 2)

      • 100% agree, my at the office monitors are 1080p and when I come home to my home office setup it is quite the difference, particularly when working on spreadsheets and viso diagrams

        • Should try on 1440, you have more vertical height so you don't need to scroll as much.

      • Thanks. I have a 32 inch FHD which my company handed out during 2020 lockdowns. I hated it as everything just felt too zoomed in with the native resolution.

    • +1

I have two SE2723DS monitors (same as this monitor but 2023 refresh). I use them WFH and I love them, mostly spreadsheets no coding. Image quality is sharp and clear, definite upgrade from a 24" 1080p monitor.

    • +1

I use the same monitors without the height adjustable stand from 2 years ago for very similar office wfh usage and they are simply brilliant at 2k. Just go for it. I would but have too many monitors.

    • -1

      Please provide a link?

        • +3

Kogan monitors are not even remotely in the same league as Dells. Something having the same specs on paper do not make them equivalents.

          • -7

@ONEMariachi: as I said similar speced monitor cheaper. and when you dealing with 1440p at only 75hz at this price point brand is irrelevant cheap monitors are all the same.

            • +1

@kungfuman: Yeah I don’t think you understand this space well enough to be recommending anything. They’re definitely not all the same, not even close. But carry on thinking what you want.

              • -6

@ONEMariachi: i understand the space alright cheap monitors have no difference in quality they are all rubbish you pay for what you get. no matter the brand at this price point. its different when you start going 500+or 1000+ monitors then it differs alot.

                • +1

@kungfuman: It’s only cheap because it’s a screen that came out in 2020. That has zero bearing on its quality.
Kogan screens are well known wastes of time. Dell screens are significantly higher quality.

You 100% do not understand what you are talking about.

                  • -7

@ONEMariachi: and you have evidence that Dell is giving you a high-quality screen in these monitors compared to the kogan version? have you looked to see what they are puting in the kogan? The very notion you said high quality screen at this price point means you don't know shit about displays. High quality at this price point? you must be joking.

                    • @kungfuman: You have evidence they’re the same? You don’t get to come and make a claim and shift the burden of evidence on others my little intellectually stunted friend.

Your entire argument is based upon a price point. Like that means anything. Especially as the Dells were released at your mythical made up $500 point you invented as being a quality threshold.

Price has zero bearing on quality. This isn’t 1952 anymore. Price is based entirely on what the market will pay. The end.

                      • -7

@ONEMariachi: You show me your evidence first. Instead of avoiding it.

                        • @kungfuman: You made the claim first. You first. You stop avoiding it. Derp derp.

                          • -4

@ONEMariachi: You show me your evidence and I will show u mine I asked first but of course if you're full of shit and can't provide any evidence, well then it's just hot air.

                            • @kungfuman: You made the initial claim. Until you provide evidence your claim is invalid. I can do nothing, and that fact does not change. I can just sit here never doing a thing. And your claim will forever be invalid. I know this concept is hard for you to grasp. One day when you grow up you might understand it.

                              • -4

@ONEMariachi: and there we have it you have nothing as I suspected full of shit.

  • excellent monitor for working.

  • +2

Great monitors at the price, have been running 2 x S2721QS as WFH.

Keep in mind that you may run into the dreaded blinking 59.940Hz issue. One of mine started to do this recently but out of warranty now. For me I just need to goto advance properties and change it back to 60Hz and all good again till the next time it changes again for unknown reason.

    • I'm having some issues where every half hour or so the monitor goes black for a second and then comes good again but its remaining at 74.971 Hz and my refresh rate options are shown in this pic.
I thought it was because of my dock but now you got me thinking its the monitors…

  • Do these have good colour reproduction? If not, does anyone know which monitor series would be most suitable for colour grading videos and graphic design and whatnot?

    • Colour looks fine to me however I don't need it to colour grading videos or graphic design.

For $250, I'd say definitely. not

    • +1

Apparently yes once calibrated but not sure if it is good for professional work. Maybe compare to monitors made for this specific purpose on the website:

Thanks for this, lots to process

    • Designer here. I have a 3 monitor setup, with 2 of these on the sides, and a s2721dgf in the centre. The colour is mostly fine on these.

  • Is this a good budget monitor for mainly working, but also some PS4 too?

  • I am after the 4k version if there will be one currently have a QHD and a 4k not matched. Had no issues with them over the last 3 years

  • Can you use these for 2x 27 inch displays without a dock?

Or should I just get an external dock?

    • A dongle/hub could work…

    • yes of course - if your PC can output it

  • +1

Thanks, just bought 3 with the .edu discount.

For some reason, if I'd bought in 3 separate transactions, I'd save a $1 a monitor.

    Solid monitors.

27" and QHD is the sweet spot.

  • An alternative to this one would be the Philips 275E1S.

Spec wise look near identical. 27", QHD, 75hz, IPS panel.

    $199 + Delivery

Looks like many vendors have a sale for this model until 29-Feb.
    Mwave
    MSY
    CentreCom
    Scorptec
    Computer Alliance
    PLE Computers

    • Which one is better?

    • +3

For $50 dollar more, Dell one seems to offer better spec and warranty:

      Dell and Philips support Tilt:
      Tilt Angle- 5°/+21°,

Only Dell support Swivel and Hight Adjustments:
Swivel Angle -30°/+30°, Rotation Angle -90°/+90°, Height Adjustment 110 mm

Brightness : Dell seems to do better with 350cd/m2 vs Philips 250 cd/m2

Dell also offer premium panel exchange which means you can get in touch with support team for replacement if you ever notice a bright spot on a monitor that won't go away.

        Thanks!

  • I currently have 2 BenQ gw2270 monitors. Keeping in mind my limited monitor knowledge, is this monitor a massive upgrade.

Also i like having 2 monitors, will getting 2 of these dells be too big

    Thanks in advance

    • Depends on how big your desk is :)

      3 x 27” is perfect.

I only have room for 2. Not to mention my PC can’t run 3 of these anyway.

  • Thanks OP. Bought 4.

    2 for the Mrs.

To replace my U2311H that i bought from a deal in Ozbargain in 2011!! Just started to develop a very faint band on one of the screens about 6 months ago.

Just a reminder, this monitor only does 75hz on DP. HDMI will only do 60hz

    • TIL

    • What about connecting to a dock using a display port > HDMI adapter?

    • Hey,
Does this monitor only get 75hz if you use DP? Usually dockstations only have one DP port.
Can you recommend a dockstation with two DP ports?

    • Would DP to HDMI cable/adaptor do 75hz?

  • Sweet deal. Waiting for dell portable monitors to come down in price.

  • I have a S2721DGF which is sadly discontinued, will this be ok to use as a dual setup with it (only for media use) or will it cause problems given that its 165hz and this is 75hz.

  • Can someone pls explain the difference between the USBC 4K one and this one? For my uses it would be connected as an external monitor with an M1 Macbook Air for university studies (lots of flashcards) and some light PS4 gaming. Which one would be better? THanks

    • 4k (2160p) vs this one's 1440p.

      PS4 Can't output 4k, can it?

M1 Air can. the 4k USB-C one would need only a single cable to receive video, whilst powering your laptop (with a compatible cable).

4k is always better, but if you can live without the USB-C stuff, you can save a bunch of money on the cheaper 4k.

      And the even cheaper 1440p.
