      • CBF..

I don't think CBA has a real live chat, only a bot.

      • yup exact same as me, even said she had others from ozbargain with the same issue.

      • Couldn't resist.

        Tried again, worked today.

  • Card has been unblocked but transaction still failed.

Does anyone know if we can pay ATO for HECS using this? If so, would this be "pending" from their end of processing immediately before the June indexation? Will ATO flag this?

    • same question I have

      • +3

        Buy now think later :)

        • +1

          That's the way!!

    • +3

I have paid ATO multiple time with the physical version of this one.
Note that there is a small fee 0.40% (so best to calculate backwards to make ideal use - I paid $99.6 to use the full $100 balance).
After a few payments they won't allow more, but wait a day and then repeat same process (from memory +-5 max per day).

      • Someone mentioned: 5 per day on MyGov and 5 per day on GovernmentEasyPay.
Will give it a try once I receive my cards.

        • I would have to look it up, but worst case you get processing error. You wait a day and can do the same amount again.
I even prepaid ATO (which is also possible).

          • @johnmelb: I wonder if I can prepay my council rates. Problem with prepayment: if they decide not to want the money and refund back to the original card…

            • +1

@team teri: I have prepaid council rates before, never had them refund me (might depend on council?).
I can't remember if it was with these pre-paid visa cards though (I do know I used it a few times to meet my min spend on new CC).

          • @johnmelb: Awesome! Thanks for this. Does it get processed straight away i.e. it reduces your balance the moment you pay?

Also nice to prepay - does this mean you will get it back on tax time and make a profit?

            • @SlushyDrop: It takes a few days to be reflected (you do get a receipt of payment), I believe I have screenshot somewhere.

It may take up to four working days for the ATO account(s) to reflect this transaction.

I also got a letter from ATO a few months back with procedures on how I can pre-pay again. Guess they like to have money a bit earlier ..

        • yep that works

      • May I clarify this a bit? My employer has already paid the tax for me on the payslip. If I use these gift cards to make payments via ATO website, does that mean I will get a lot of tax refunds when lodging the tax return later?

        Thank you,

    • -3

Damn. How on earth is this fair for people who have paid tax and have to go through huge gov debts. That's just ridiculous!
Hope ATO catch on and ban it.

      • +3

Catch on to what? You're not paying the ATO any less, it's really Coles who are subsidizing the difference.

        • -5

Why? What on earth should entitle you to pay a debt at a discounted price when everyone bloody else has to pay full price? Everyone pays taxes and nobody should be able to gain the system.

          • +2

@thousandsuns: You are just being irrational now, this isnt putting out any other tax payer and as mentioned isnt costing the ATO a cent. The only people who might have a right to be annoyed are Coles or Heritage bank shareholders.

            • -7

@donkcat: Surely I'm not the only one who thinks this is cheating the system and fraud. Who cares, one day ATO may ban CC payments all up.

              • @thousandsuns: You’re not really explaining why u think its the case? The ATO are getting paid the exact same, you just seem bitter that some people take up this Coles promotion to receive a little discount on their tax bill that Coles are subsidizing.

          • @thousandsuns: I don't see what's unfair here - everyone who knows about it can do the same.

And Coles foots the bill. Why Coles chose to do that, repeatedly, is something I don't have any explanation for.

      • Dude why are you even on this website? Do you understand the whole point of it is to "pay a discounted price when everyone bloody else has to pay full price?"

You should go report Ozbargain and get it banned.

    • It takes a few days for the payment to process. I did mine on the 25th and 26th. They were processed on 29th and 30th. Paid using Coles PP MC and Vanilla Visa. They both have fees, 0.4% and 0.2%. But I can't remember which one is which.

Has anyone confirmed whether Woolworths gift cards website are accepting these cards?

    • +2

I tried with the physical card last time, WWS website does not accept it for gift card purchase, so I have to go to the shop to get the Wish card.

    • Should work.

    • For Telstra, no need to add to Paypal, last year I prepaided account with physical card and had no problem.

      • How do you prepaid your account? Like add credit to the account?

Lol 1 hour on commbank call and block is removed but its still not working

    Not giving up yet

  • Purchased 5 x $250 gift cards on second attempt after ringing bank to remove hold on card. This website seems to trigger the fraud detection at some banks who have blocked the transaction.

    • Tried anz, cba and westpack debit and credit Card, all blocked. Very bad and sad day.

      • +1

Around ~2hrs for me, ordered at 9:01am.

        • Thank you.

        • I also ordered at 9:01, got the invoice at 9:04, but cards haven't come through yet.
Is the email address for GC and invoice same?

    • 24 hour balance load?

At some point the hassle factor of saving 7.5% exceeds my care factor. After trying to buy using a debit and credit card from two different banks, I'm well and truly there.

  • Bought on Westpac credit card, no issue.
Just waiting for cards to be emailed like everyone else.

With Firefox I clicked the shield next to the lock at the top and turned off "enchanged tracking protection" and it went through. Otherwise I got a 403 error.

  • If you purchased multiple cards. do you get one email with them all in or multiple emails ?

    • Multiple emails - each with a gift card

$10k on 4 accounts using citibank
    Not bhad …

    • +1

What are you spending it on lol I'm trying to decide if it's worth going past $5k..

      • Bills, insurance, council fees, etc
Got 1k coming up for car insurance, 3k next financial year for council fees, expecting winter and gas electricity bill to be approx $500 each etc, approx $250 per month PHI

Will also prepay $2k for tax and if they owe me, they will deposit it back to my bank account lol

It will be all used up by end of july

        • How do you do a split payment for car insurance ?

        • I received my ten, and I have already used them all up. I'm going to need more tomorrow if they allow.

    • +1

Did you use 4 diff emails, diff names, diff numbers, diff card for payments? Same IP address/browser/device?

      • +1

Yep. For address i just put street or road or circuit lol
        But 2 cards

  • +1

Bought 4x $250 using a Velocity Escape AmEx on Android Firefox connected via mobile data. Had some issues loading the portal to enter my card number but then turned off my ad-blocker and the payment page came up. AmEx SafeKey transaction checking went through with no dramas.

Ordered at 09:42 local time and received tax invoice email at 09:44. Obviously just waiting on cards to arrive now.

    • Still waiting as well

  • Their system wouldn't let me buy 10x$250 but I got 9 and the transaction went through. No cards yet. But I see on my credit card statement that the vendor is Coles. Should I have put it on my platinum edge and gotten 1.5 on the points? Does it count as a supermarket purchase?

  • Just received my gift cards, each gift card as a separate email

  • +5

Ordered 10x at 9:03AM received gift cards at 11:56AM

  • +2

Tried multiple cards as well and received the transaction failed message. Amex told me they're not seeing any attempts of the transaction so it is on the merchants end.

A bit stupid they have a promotion but their system can't handle the transactions

    • Maybe AMEX saw a sudden surge in different cards being used on the same platform and blocked from their side (as fraud prevention)?
Or did you try multiple cards issued by different institutions?
Agreed that their systems should be able to handle the load ..

      • I just used Amx to buy my 2nd lot of 10 cards.

      • it's not amex or the credit card which is the issue!

      • Used other cards from Visa and mastercard as well and got declined

    • Yeah exactly if it is the cards then you'll see declined/failed record in the card so all these people calling their banks in vain

  • Can this be used to pay for things at OW, JB, HN etc?

    • Only online

  • Not sure about other regions' utilities, Sydney Water (and some other utilities companies) allows you to nominate an amount when paying online.

    • but don't they charge a fee for using a card to pay?
