Maybe don't stock up at 7%, Woolworths has 20x points in-store next week.

  • +9

Woolies 20x Everyday rewards for Ultimate GC next week: https://gcdb.com.au/offer/6183/
(equal to 10% off in form of rewards points)

Still good to get from Amazon AU as it has variable load up to $500
this can be useful to spend over $100 online and stack with cashback websites (as online shopping does not support split payment)

    • -1

can we use our rewards dollars to buy the ultimate gift cards and still get the points back?

  • +2

Woolies isnt worth as much - locked into WW and you can get 5% off easily (seniors or other discounts), if not at least 4%.

  • +2

Direct discount these days are getting lesser every time. I’ll hold until there is an actual 10% off.

    • +1

That’s if you can find them. A-holes hide the cards.

      • +2

I'm pretty sure they're just stealing the cards and coming back another day to pay for them

  • +3

Could we purchase with Amazon gift card balance?

  • +1

Thanks OP. I can't be stuffed fighting for available stock at woolworths any more so this suits me very well.

  • Bought these last year but when i tried to use it at JB Hifi, it wouldnt accept it. I loaded into a mobile wallet as per the instructions but when i tapped on the machine, it said contactless use not available. Have not tried it elsewhere.

    • +1

You may have to exchange it into a jbhifi gift card

      • You can but shouldnt have to as they are meant to work at JB without exchanging. PITA when you get to register, try to pay which gets denied, then stand aside to swap the GC for JB and pay again, especially for lower cost products that you buy when just dropping in randomly.

    • +3

I had that happen to me twice in the same visit at a JB H-Fi around two years ago, and it was due to the EFTPOS terminal not correctly reading the data from Samsung Wallet. I asked the staff member to let me attempt payment and the Ultimate gift card worked on the third attempt.

I have also occasionally had error messages similar to contactless use not available at Coles, Woolworths, Ampol Foodary and EG Ampol when using other types of payment cards from Apple Pay, Google Wallet and Samsung Wallet, so that those errors are more to do with the mobile wallet than the payment card.

  • +3

7% is a spit in the face. Your face is getting spit on. Bezos spit on you.

      Whatever turns you on bud.

7% off cuck chairs via amazon

    • +4

I'd actually pay 7% extra for that. So hot.

      • +1

Why am I on the internet.

  • -1

Can i pay Ato with any of these?

  • Need AirBnB

  • +19

Do NOT take up this offer.

7% is a joke for these gift cards.
Ultimate gift cards are regularly 10% off at Colesworths.
Be patient and you will easily get a discount that is 42% greater than this spit in the face.
Do not normalise anything less than 10% off.

    • +4

That’s if you can find them in store. 7% is better than driving around to different stores and not finding any because a-holes hide them and buy more than their share. It’s only $3 less discount on a $100 card.

      • +1

my local colesworths always has them even on the last day of the deals

        • +1

          You’re lucky then.

      • It's 30% saving they take off you in exchange for convenience. Last time was $8. Early stage there were $15-$20. Amazon AU is rich enough already but stingy.

    • +1

There're already so many scams for GC in local stores. Basically in those cases, the card number was modified by the scammer, so that the customer can't redeem it.

If someone pushes you to buy GCs in store, I think something's off

    • Its actually not bad if you can stack with cashback websites

this is what I have done before:

bought a $500 Ultimate GC (8%) off (last deal) from Amazon
then use it to purchase $479 DJI Neo Flymore combo
and stack with TopCashBack Good Guys 20% cashback

      If I am getting $100 GCs from Coles/Woolies (10% off / 20x points)
I wont be able to stack with cashback
even converting to TGG GC will still invalidate cashback

      • Why can't I stack a 10% off ultimate gift card from coles with cashback deals vs 7% off ultimate gift card from amazon? I've never had that issue before

        • because you cant split payment when doing purchase online
eg. purchase anything more than $100

          • @littlesoldier: So it's because of the lack of higher denomination cards with the colesworth 10% off discounts?
Fair enough. If you know you have a big purchase to make then it may be worth it.

            • +1

@tenpercent: yes, the max $100 denomination limits the use case when using online (and stack with cashback)

  • Can I use this gift card to buy iPad in JB?

    • Yes, you can use it to buy whatever you like at JB (except maybe JB gift cards? Not sure about that) as long as you buy one of the cards that includes JB, as listed in the OP above.

  • How do we use these cards at IKEA? We just use as a normal credit card?

    • Yes

      • But is it the digital card? Sorry I am newbie

        • +1

You either swipe the physical card at checkout, or convert to digital. See FAQ linked at bottom of post

    • +6

Yes, the gift cards in this deal are prepaid Visa gift cards. For the Ultimate gift cards that list IKEA as a participating retailers, you can redeem them in-store and online at IKEA, as well as go to the Ultimate gift card website and exchange them for a digital IKEA gift card (but keep in mind that digital IKEA gift cards are only available in fixed denominations, e.g. $20, $50, $100).

If you want to redeem Ultimate e-gift cards in-store, you must add them to a supported mobile wallet (Apple Pay, Google Wallet, Samsung Wallet) and then tap to pay at a checkout. If you need to do split payments and are at a checkout operated by a dedicated staff member, simply ask to split payments across multiple Visa cards. However, if you are a self checkout, tell the staff member you want to do split payments across multiple Visa cards, where they will need to put the checkout into an assist mode and then manually type in the amount to redeem from each Ultimate gift card.

In terms of how many Ultimate gift cards you can redeem in one transaction at IKEA, I suggest you refer to the FAQ page linked at the bottom of the deal description.

      • -2

Actually, on the issue of these being prepaid visa cards… does that mean you could actually use these vouchers online with ANY retailer that accepts Visa, not just the ones listed on the cards? Like… can they even tell the difference, or do they just see a Visa card and wave it through like any other Visa?

        • +1

No, the prepaid gift cards in this deal only work at the participating retailers listed on the Ultimate gift card website.

Blackhawk Network - the gift card scheme owner - can limit where these prepaid gift cards work by checking information reported by the EFTPOS terminal or payment gateway when you attempt payment. If the reported information is not known to be for a participating retailer included on the gift card, the transaction will be declined. (I talked about this in more detail here.)

  • Thanks OP. Got specific amount for my IKEA spending under $50.

  • Can we pay via amazon gift card for this transaction?

    • no, amazon ban using giftcard balance to purchase giftcard few years ago

  • The gift cards are limited to $500. Has anyone tried using multiple on a single item purchase at JB hi-fi? My Google search suggests they don't accept multiple credit cards on one purchase but you can use multiple gift cards. Since this is essentially a gift card as a prepaid credit card, does that mean it won't work?

    • +1

Did you have a look at the FAQ page linked at the bottom of the deal description? It has entries for instore and online transactions that address your question.

      • +1

No I didn't. Stopped scrolling well before that point. And you're right. It does answer my question. Thanks.

    • I did it a few years back with physical cards. Bit worried whether it will work the same with these…

  • I've been waiting 2+ hours for my "everyone" GC via mobile, is that normal? Amazon order page just says "scheduled"

    • I had the same thing. Waited for about 3 hours and nothing. I contacted their support and was told that 'for some transactions it can take up to 48 hours'. I need to use them today, so I asked to cancel. I don't see that '48 hours' anywhere in the item description. I saw 1-2 hours and assumed that was the max wait time.

      • Did they cancel immediately? Looks like my payment has not been taken yet either and says not sent after several hours

        • How long have you been waiting for and what denomination did you order? I ordered $100 which arrived within 5mins, but the $500 one is taking some time and still "Scheduled".

          • -1

@zeno: Around 4 hours now, i ordered 6 X $ 500 cards… was hoping to use tomorrow but if it doesnt arrive in time not sure if its too late to cancel or I can block my card I guess.

            • @KingJuf: Doubt you can cancel once it’s already sent to you. You can cancel now while it’s not yet sent out though. That’s what I did. I can’t risk it arriving too late ‘cause I have no other use for it besides the item I want to buy now.

              • @zeno: I cant even see the option to cancel the order like usual , ive got until tomorrow though so if it doesnt work. Does not appear to have charged me yet.

                • @KingJuf: I cancelled via Customer Support.

                  • +1

@zeno: Btw my cards came approx 12 hours after ordering so was able to use them today to purchase a LG G4 at TGG

                    • @KingJuf: Nice! I was able to negotiate a better price with Harvey Norman for the same TV. Not as good as the TGG using GCs, though I'd be able to use price protection if prices drop further! :D

                      • @zeno: Yeh I managed to get it for $2928 plus the discounted 7% gift cards and free delivery. I had actually already purchased the tv yesterday, got it delivered today and made them refund so I could repurchase with gift cards at the 2928 price :)

  • Shame no David Jones…

  • Still haven’t received mine

    • How long ago did you order?

  • +1

Just found an air fryer which is on sale which ends today that i want to purchase. 7% might not be as good as 10% but is better than no discount. Ends up only being $2.40 difference anyway.

  • I couldn’t find the Ultimate 20x Woolworths deal so thought I’ll ask here. I need to buy a new iPhone ($1600) and was going to buy the apple gift cards (coles 20x promotion) this week but cautious about the scams. Are scams less prevalent on these ultimate cards? Annoying I can only be $100 lots so will need to stack up 16. Was reading the FAQs and seem it’s all the same across JB, office works and good guys (discretion of staff).

    • +1

I couldn’t find the Ultimate 20x Woolworths deal

It should be in the next weekly catalogue from Woolworths (which should go live on the Woolworths website/app on 7 April at 5pm AEST).

The second comment in this deal has a link to the third-party website that has already posted this deal. The reason no one has posted it on OzBargain yet is that it is against OzBargain rules to do so before the catalogue has been published (unless someone has accidentally put the promotional posters in-store before the deal has started).

Are scams less prevalent on these ultimate cards?

It depends on what you mean by "scams".

      • If you are referring to gift card tampering (e.g. scratching numbers off gift cards, sticking random activation barcodes over the one printed on the physical gift card), I have not heard examples of that for Ultimate gift cards. I will also mention the newest iteration of Ultimate gift card packaging is probably the most tamper-resistant packaging I have seen for gift cards sold in Australia (particularly with its tamper-evident sticker), but I am not suggesting it is tamper-proof!

      • If you are referring to fraudulent transactions, that is very unusual to see on Ultimate gift cards, but not impossible. The main example that sticks out in my mind is this one from 2022, but there is one other case I can think of from 2023 (and I cannot find the comment for that…). There is a section in the Ultimate gift card terms and conditions that outlines the process for disputing a transaction, so there is an avenue if you find someone else has fraudulently used your Ultimate gift card.

    • Hey, apple has addressed this. Previously, the gift cards had the barcode exposed just as they sat on the shelf. Now, they must be peeled back to be scanned.

Cashiers are instructed to not sell giftcards that have already had the barcode part peeled off to ensure there has been no tampering.

You can tell on the new apple giftcards as there is a vertical tab to be pulled downwards to reveal the barcode.

      • … and the people tampering Apple gift cards addressed this by tampering the new version too.

If you look through the first deal after the new version of Apple gift cards was introduced earlier this year, there are a number of comments from people saying their new version of Apple gift cards were also tampered. Here are some examples.

        • You simply have the choice to not pick up a giftcard that has had the cardboard bit peeled.

  • Can we use it to pre order the Switch 2 on JB Hi-Fi or EB Games ?

    • Yes

  • How to use it on jbhifi and ebgames? I have 500 and 270 gift cards, cant use more than one in credit card payment

    • I think have to purchase in-store

I just purchased JB gift cards online with Ultimate Birthday gift cards, and then used two JB cards in the same order afterwards. Worked like a treat!

        • So you got it working for an online order with JB?

Looks like JB have $25, $50, etc, gift cards. I'm assuming you can buy these with this ultimate GC and load as many JB cards as you want into one transaction.

            • @pineapple12: Cheers, for some reason I misread their comment. Good to know as I wasn't really keen on going in person and doing the 10 gift card in a row thing.

Still get scared I'll buy all these cards and it won't work for some reason, I'm looking at a big purchase with them. Guess I could buy a couple of small ones first to test it and if it looks like it's working at checkout then go big.

@bleeder: Same here, I'm doing it right now. Purchasing $800 worth of ultimate GC and then $800 worth of JB gift cards to buy the switch 2 bundle + case.
I'll let you know if it works

Well 30 minutes have past and I have received the $300 card and waiting for the $500 card. I guess its taking a while to verify on Amazons end

              • @bleeder: I was able to load one $500 and one $300 JB gift card and pay off the rest using my visa. Worked well :)
Now to wait for the switch 2!

          • @bleeder: Exactly - I have already preordered Switch 2 Bundle online with 2 JB gift cards that I bought with UB gift cards.

            • @Krepokrip: How long did it take you to get the gift cards from amazon? Been waiting almost 5 hours for one to be sent. Got the other one though.

              • @pineapple12: about 5 minutes to get GC from amazon. Took a little longer to get JB ones though, about 15-20mins.

Don’t expect the gift card will be delivered within 5 mins. I ordered today and still not received for more than 2 hours. I rang Amazon and the bank and know that Amazon hold the orders for manual review. It may take 48hours.

    • Yeah , same here. Ordered it this morning but I think it’s going to take 24 hours. However the other one I got came through fine so I’m confused.

I ordered $50 this morning as well to pre-order switch 2…. STILL not in my inbox. Delivered in 5 minutes is a lie

  • I just received an email that Amazon cancelled my order "at my request", and are refunding my order of $2300 of gift cards. I hopped on live chat to confirm that I did not request to cancel the gift card order, and still want them at the 7% discount.
According to live chat, it is a "technical issue" and they need to "message the seller" which can take up to 48 hours.

Hopefully they let me know soon - if it is refunded I'll be off to hunt for cards in Woolies on 7/4

  • Promo ended?! Noooooo. I needed these for my Switch 2 preorder at EB Games

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Ended early… too much umming and ahhing!

    • "or while stocks last" Think they usually sell out before end date.

      • Yeah my bad
