        • @Kathiepink @cateyneow - yep, a lot of us are facing the same issue as you. TBH, in one way I think its a blessing in disguise maybe. Having the card online only is certainly harder to use, because unlike the VISA cards, these can't be added to mobile wallet for in-store transactions. Meaning you'll have to use it online only. You can definitely try cashing out but might likely hit a dead end/restrictions at some point. Also, leftover tiny balances will now be harder to get rid of.

          • +1

@nsingh21: ill be using them to pay council rates , land tax etc
so ill clear the balance in full to avoid any left over remaining balance etc

    • Did you purge your browser and use a VPN?

  • got the cards just within 4 hrs. Anyone tried to purchase gift cards using these coles mastercard from Bupa life rewards? Says this card is not supported. is that legit?

    • +2

They have blocked the use of physical Coles Mastercards, so no surprises if they block the digital ones as well.

      • +1

thanks for this. This was my primary purpose to get these cards. Need to look for other options… :(

    • The card worked with Australian Unity rewards.

    • Didn't try it for Bupa life rewards but it worked using a manual once-off payment of my normal Bupa health insurance.

  • So you can use this to buy discounted gift cards from cashrewards?

    • Yep I just did the amazon $5 bonus deal

      • Same

      • what did you put in the card holder name ?

        • Just my name, guessing you could probably put anything though

          • @snoopydoop: I tried,but they rejected the card

            • @Smallman: From memory I think the expiry year needed to be 4 digits instead of 2 which was a weird quirk?

Otherwise I'm not sure, didn't do anything tricky on my end to get it processed

              • @snoopydoop: Yep ,did exactly as you said, but just not working , maybe out of luck

  • +1

Got confirmation email at 9:46am still no gift cards :/

  • How do you pay ATO using these cards?

    • Go to mygov - ATO. Make payment.

      • Can you prepay ATO and later get a refund after filling tax return?

        • +1

          Interested to know this?

        • +2

Yes, ATO will put this into your tax account, and will refund the net amount after your tax return is lodged for the year (or use it as a credit towards any amounts owing)

          • @ol mate: If that refund comes into my bank account, there's no extra fee :)

            • @FatTofu: You'll pay 0.20% merchant fee to the ATO to use these now - $0.50 on $250 - but otherwise no fees.

      • So we can split payment into multiple $250 payments? And I see there will be a 0.77% card payment fee.

        • +1

shouldn't be 0.2% as this is a debit card?

        • +1

Yep you override the amount due with the amount you want to pay. $249.50 will charge you $250 once the 0.2% fee is applied. After you make the payment there is an option to make another payment. I was getting RSI doing that this morning.

          • @Slo20: Did you used multiple account to buy multiple 10 cards lot? 10 cards can't give you RSI :D

            • @Cool7: Yeah I got 20 cards, both with different name, email, mobile. I attempted to buy another 10 but I got transaction failed after that. Attempted with a different credit card (and other details) and also got transaction error. Will try again tomorrow if it’s still going.

    • +1

You can only make 5 payments to ATO via mygov per day. However you can get your payment reference from mygov and pay another 5 per day via governmenteasypay (same fee).

      • yep, did this last time, 10x cards a day

      • Unless it's changed recently it's 10 via myGov and 10 via Gov Easy Pay per 12 hours. So 40 transactions per 24hr period.

        • +1

Ahh I didn't realise it was 12 hours. Even better. I LOVE paying the ATO.

          • @Bdawg: On mygov try and keep going, many times I was able to put through 13 + on Mygov, but easypay is definantely a hard cap at 10 per 12 hours.

      • I just did 9 times via mygov website. wired.

  • +1

Can i use in on ebay?

  • +3

About 2 hrs ago, I tried purchasing two $250 gift cards but no luck. Tried PC Chrome, FireFox and Edge. Tried mobile Chrome. Tried a few different bank cards. Keep getting the "Transaction failed" after entering card details and authorising the purchase. Shame just can't purchase any gift cards this promo.

    • +1

same here tried different cards, browser, quantity and kept getting "Transaction Failed, Contact Customer Service"

  • Might have to pay off my Medibank premium for a year with these :D

    • +1

You are better off churning to a 6 weeks free offer, eg, Peoplecare.

    • just wondering how to split pay the whole amount which will be over 250?

  • Cards are hitting me 1 at a time . Its going to be along afternoon and night .

  • Hmm. Bought cards at 10:15 or so, invoice received 10:22, but nothing since then. No cards. Disappointing.

  • And deal of the year

  • Yay, no fighting in Coles stores for gift card packs.

Just ordered 10 successfully. I'll get more later, will try with the same email and see what happens.

    • +1

No problem ordering 10 more using the same email address.

I'm just going to keep going … maybe :)

      • Do you use VPN?

      • +1

        Thanks
I used same detail for 8 more cards

  • Ordered 3.5 hours back still waiting for the GCs to arrive, planning to pay water, electricity, council and health insurance for 6 months.

    • health insurance for 6 months

Sorry, but you are better off churning to a 6 weeks free offer. Spend your discounted Mastercards on something else.

      • +1

Thanks for the tip I usually churn health insurance but generally every year or so.

      • Who are the easiest swaps?

  • Never mind, I bit the bullet and bought 4x$250, went thru successfully. I'll use this to pay off my compulsory work memberships lol and get it reimbursed.

Soooo, can anyone explain how Giftcards.com.au can basically 1.075x our money and do so profitably without it being some sort of scheme or exit scam?

    • -1

You are wasting time. You could be purchasing gift cards.

It is not an exit scam. Are you suggesting that Coles is about to go under? https://www.giftcards.com.au/CMS/Page/about

      • I'm wasting time by evaluating the potential risks of sending thousands of dollars to a company called Giftcards.com.au offering a deal that at face value doesn't seem to make sense? And no, I'm suggesting that perhaps something might happen before the money gets transferred into a Mastercard balance.

        • +1

I'm wasting time by evaluating the potential risks of sending thousands of dollars to a company called Giftcards.com.au

You clearly haven't undertaken even basic reconnaissance. Instead, you come here asking random no-ones about the risk lol

        • +3

When checking anything against a deal with 400+ up votes, you are risking losing your ozbargain badge :D
Ozbargain way is purchase first and think later.

        • +4

Giftcards.com.au is just a trade mark, not the company name.
The company name is "Coles Group Limited"
          https://www.giftcards.com.au/CMS/Page/giftcardtermsofpurchas…

These Gift Card Purchase Terms & Conditions apply to all Gift Cards purchased from Coles Group Limited through the Website.

I used 200+ $100/$250 cards over years, only 1 card was hacked, so that's around 0.5%.
And I received a replacement card after I contacted them, although it did take a few months.
I can only see minimal risk from it.

    • -1

One word : SANTA ho ho ho :)

    • +1

Maybe just trying to increase their turnover before the EOFY

    • +1

A percentage of people will need to lose or forget about their gift cards. Their loss is our gain.

    • Im hearing ya..it feels very 'Ozarkish' .. I feel we are all doing some laundry!

  • Arrived just in time for this.

  • Transaction Failed, Contact Customer Service

CBA card. I'll be cancelling it off the back of this, time for a card hop anyway.

  • Ordered and received tax invoice at 10:48
    No gift card yet

  • More than 4 hours since order and still no gift cards

  • Ordered at 9:20, invoice arrived at 9:22, gift card at 2:40pm.

    • ordered ½ an hour after, gc emails also received exactly 5 hours and 20 minutes later

  • Got my gift cards ordered this morning, ordered another lot with different email and card.

  • My 10 x $250 cards arrived 4 hours 23 mins after purchase.

  • Took 5 hours to arrive

  • Anyone purchase with a debit Visa or MasterCard?

  • Got it know roughly in 4 hours

  • I used paypal to buy WWS gift card the first 2 order went through and then failed. How many order can I make in a day?

    • 2 per hour. Try again in an hour.

    • I bought wws 5% discount gift card, received the card within 5 seconds

      • Where do you get 5% off?

        • Senior card discount

  • +2

Just wasted an entire day on this.

Spent the entire morning figuring out how to place an order, tried different browsers chrome edge etc with adblock turned off etc. No luck can't fully load the page where you input card details.

Then tried iPad, freezes on the page before the card details page. Pressing next doesn't do anything.

So I switched to an iPhone with fresh IP, successfully placed an order for 1*$100 to test out the spending scenarios for this digital card.

Using the same "fresh IP" and iphone before I tried using a different account to purchase some, no luck

tried again with different ip different phone different browser, no luck

calling cba, told me I need to chat to them, would be much more quicker than waiting 30 minutes for a staff member

so i did, and after 30 minutes no one came to the chat and I realize I got scammed and the chat isn't even a real time chat.

I tried again with different details, different ip, different bank, Just called customer support , they say the error code is definitely meaning declined by the bank. But after I persist with the questioning they revealed the same error could also be preventing multiple orders.

Turns out they say they have very sophisticated methods built in to prevent people from getting a second order. INCLUDING IP.

I tried switching banks and used several visa/mc debit cards, no luck.

Now i'm in the dark as to whether the error refers to bank or their website.

I hate that they waited till nearly the last minute to send me the 100 card, almost 4 hours.
I need to pay off hecs so yep, not gonna waste the evening on this crap.
The one order per customer thing expires in 24hrs.
nope, no more of this thanks!

    • +4

I am sorry for your loss.

    • Same!!!!

    • Well to be fair they did make it pretty clear it is 1 order/customer. If you dont know how to be a new customer, perhaps you should just place 1 order for the full $2500.

      • +1

Some people can't even place one order.

        • That is probably due to banks blocking the payments for security concerns.

      • Well We have 4 in my household. Only 2 were able to purchase. Other 2 couldnt.

      • that's the thing, my first order was a nightmare to begin with

    • +4

      Hey could have been worse?

Could have spent whole day driving around coles stores looking to see if anyone has hidden these gift cards in the freezer? 😂

      Thanks OPS, bought 20.

    • +3

      Very unlucky I guess.

Bought 20 with 2 orders, same machine, same ip, pay with same card, just different email addresses. I didn't even try to hide and just assumed they allow 2 people live in the same household

    • So I switched to an iPhone with fresh IP, successfully placed an order for 1*$100 to test out the spending scenarios for this digital card

Haven't you read OPs piece . 1 order only and you have to go max.
      Then next .

      • I later did try everything fresh start but not successful.

My biggest problem is their website behaving weird on pc chrome and edge and ipad safari that prevented me from my first order.

Also, just tested it does reset after 24hrs

  • Nearly 4 hours later, got the cards

  • +2

Was happy to see the deal was still available at 12.30, and with all the tips here I went straight to my citi card, went through right away

    Received the 10 just now

    • used citi cc as well, cards came in a few minutes

  • +2

Opened ‘view e gift card’ and see blank lol
