Purchases of gift cards are supposed to be excluded from the 10% off Everyday Extra monthly discount. If you look at the relevant FAQ on the Everyday Rewards website:
What products can I not apply my Extra Discounts on?
The Extra Discount cannot be used for or on any smoking or tobacco products and accessories, liquor, gift cards (including iTunes), mobile recharge, Woolworths Mobile, travel cards, tickets, cash outs, delivery charges (including Delivery Unlimited items), bag fees, donations, Carpet Care, lottery products, pre-order kiosks, purchases on a charge account, BIG W Photos online, Apple products, gaming consoles, Playstation Portal and Playstation VR devices, rainchecks, BIG W eBay, BIG W Market, DukeLiving, pre-orders, lay-by fees, remote and bulk orders or Everyday Market from Woolworths orders, any purchases made at the Everyday Rewards Shop and any purchases made at Ampol Woolworths Metro and MetroGo stores.
There was a time the Everyday Extra discount worked on purchases of gift cards at BIG W, but that was quickly OzBargained.
Feel free to try it out and let us know how you go though if you are still happy to try it out, because you never know if BIG W has accidentally re-opened the loophole.
@WookieMonster: FWIW the everyday 10% discount doesn’t work when I’ve purchased Apple gift cards.
Can’t recall if I’ve tried to apply it a shop that included a Nintendo gift card or not, but I’d expect the same result.
