Doesn't seem so. Checked our work address that has FTTP, seeing the same price as everything else. No idea where OP is getting their figures from.

Edit: Looks like it's only for people eligible for an FTTN upgrade.

  • +1

Is this FTTP only? I don't get these prices on the website.

    • +1

      No, it's FTTN/FTTC only.

    $99 Cashback @ shopback

    • +1

Thanks, have used this. Hope it works out as I selected a future connection date :)

      • Can you use shopback and referral at the same time?

        • +3

Hi Gbodunski, I was going to try but there was no where to put the referral code when using the Shopback link which is done indirectly through Econnex, not directly with Tangerine. I opted for the $99 cashback instead of $25 referral when confronted with that. Hopefully it tracks and I do get my cashback. Have taken printscreen in case. Didn't see any term or condition stating I had to connect immediately.

  • Anyone have tried their gigabyte plan? I was on iiNet 500 and actually get 500 download. Transferred to More gigabyte and only getting about 280. HFC connection in 3148.

    • More and this company use Vocus, you'll probably get identical speeds.

    • I'm on Future Broadband 1000/50 and get up to 1.1gbps down

Have been able to consistently pull 800mbps+ from PS Network

Since you got 500 down from iiNet, proves that it's not the HFC network, just More not capable of delivering gigabit (maybe just in your area though)

Just activated More Telecom (same product, I believe) on a FTTN-FTTP upgrade in 6CAN-08.
According to my whitebox, I get peak-time congestion to around 500-600.

      • How did you find these numbers?

        • I have a "SamKnows Whitebox" on my network that runs speedtests and reports to ACCC.

  • Good deal but not sure i can unironically choose an RSP called ‘Tangerine’

  • +2

    I don't see those prices

    • SPEEDY is $62 for me

Only for certain addresses/connection types! Tried a random address eg, 99 YAMBA RD, YAMBA NSW 2464

Great news! Your property qualifies for a FREE Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) Upgrade. Order a Speedy Plan or above and NBN will upgrade your connection to FTTP for FREE!

    • dont try to use your neighbour's address. we know where you live.

    • Yamba Yamba do?

  • Be warned, Tangerine are a bit dodgy for gaming sometimes.

    • Can you elaborate?

They like to win, so they throw in a little extra latency if you’re beating them

When doing the free upgrade from FTTN to FTTP, do we have to stay connected to the ISP organising the upgrade for 12 months? Thought I read that somewhere in the past, but I don't see it mentioned in the T&C for Tangerine.

    https://www.tangerinetelecom.com.au/storage/terms/Tangerine-Fresh-Fibre-$40-discount-Terms-and-Conditions-31032023.pdf

    • +1

Didn’t for me. I churned when my 6 month promo was up.

I suggest taking a copy of all T&C, and other screenshots during the upgrade process, just in case though.

      • Is there actually a minimum period though? I scoured the T&Cs page and couldn't find anything. Tangerine was pretty crap for me on FTTN

  • How is it targeted? what do I need to do or just input address as I can't see these prices

  • OPs prices are not showing up, all plans are different to title.

    • That's why it is marked as targeted

      • +2

Revoked my neg. I never get targeted for the good ones :(

        • I got targeted, think it is due to properties eligible for FTTP upgrade?

    • verified targeted… my current place is showing full price, but checked previous address eligible for discount. sad.. just moved in

  • I got the free FTTP upgrade from Exetel in November. Anyone know if I can now move without penalty or is there some 12 month agreement clause? Paying $100 for 250/25 so definitely need to move

    • I "think" the penalty no longer applies but with Exetel you'd better ask them specifically.

    • check the contract T&C they sent you

  • +1

how to get a referral? wait for someone to reply on pm?

    • +1

I signed up without a referral as no one was answering their pm.

      • send me yours if want, I'll sign up with it mate

        • Hi, there is no way to send you a pm. ether it's switched off on your end or I am blind. sorry

      • If you literally just signed up, you can open a support case and say you had trouble getting your referral to apply. They still honoured it and gave me the credit when I did it a few days ago.

  • -1

$89 on going is the only thing stopping our family. Unless you can use the 6 months at the $49 per month figure + free fttp upgrade and then switch to their 50mbps plan after the 6 months? Even still…

  • +1

If you don’t already have FTTP, you will need to sign up on their Superspeedy FTTP plan. It will be $69.90/month but after you’ve been upgraded, you can switch plans. I called them and signed up this morning.

  • My address is eligible for FTTP upgrade, I'm getting the discounted price on 250/25 and 1000/50 but not 100/20, which is the one I'm interested in, well that's just my luck.

    • +2

With nbn FTTC to FTTP it has to be 250/25 or 1000/50 to get upgraded. Once FTTP is installed you can swap to 100/20 but you won't get the $49.90 pricing.

      • +2

Thank you, didn't know it was a FTTC thing.

  • Thank you to the kind souls that gave me a code.

Just wondering how long their activation/transfer takes? Google says 3 days or even 3 weeks which i find hard to believe, mainly because even Kogan NBN does it within hours.

    • Maybe some confusion between switching over and upgrading to FTTP?

    • How long did it end up taking for you? I signed up on the 10th and still 0 communication so far. Thought they would transfer me to their plan in the meantime but looks like I'm still with Auspost

  • I upgraded earlier this month from FTTC 100/40 to their 250/25 FTTP. Haven’t had any issues as at all and pretty consistently get the full speed.

  • +1

I signed up last month, still waiting for the install to be finalised. Think it's worth asking for the discount to be extended?

    • Doesn't hurt to ask. Did you sign up with a discount similar to above?

I wonder if I sign up for example for 250/25 and wait a month to install, would I still need to pay $69.90 for that month even though they only deliver 100/20.

      • I think I did, and I'm misremembering. My thought process was sign up with Tangerine for a cheaper 2 or so months, then switch to More before 30/6 and take advantage of their CBA 12 month offer plus cashback.

  • Minimum $159 for a modem? NTY.

Reckon my Leaptel modem from a couple years ago would do for BYOM?

  • Currently with Spintel but experience drop outs every fortnight or so that requires a modem reboot. Ping isn't great either. Is this any better?

    • I'm currently with spintel and no issue with the drop outs….unless I'm just lucky… but my 6 months black Friday promo with Spintel almost finish - and tempted to move to tangerine, but seems my address is not targeted :(

  • Spoke with a sales rep and he said that this pricing is only offered to existing customers. Best he could offer was for me to sign up to a standard deal, and then apply for the upgrade to get this pricing. :/

    • +1

Signup online. Tangerine's T&Cs say it's for new customers too.

This offer provides eligible new and existing Tangerine customers

      Not slow enough

  • Just signed up last month to More Telecom with CommBank discount, More Telecom is the same company as Tangerine. I can confirm you can upgrade to FTTP and discount still applies for the reminder of the 12 months.

  • Currently, I'm with More Internet; but need to move to another one. So, this can be a good offer.

I have FTTN at home, how can I upgrade the infrastructure so that I become qualifed for this?!

What's the best price going these days for people who already have FTTP?

  • these monkeys botched my relocation request and left me without broadband at new place for two weeks already. all they can do is ask me to reset nbn box and modem and tells me my modem is online ffs

  • I wanted to know more on the upgrade..I read the official NBN website and it didn't make full sense to me. I have FTTN working at my home.

    • do they like dig up your place to put in new lines?
    • do they install new equipment inside or outside the home?
    • Do I need to arrange my own electrician / networking guy for new wiring inside the home?
    • Would my FTTN router work or do I need to buy a new router?
    • Would I need extra power outlets for equipment installed inside or outside?
    • Any other gotcha situations in the upgrade?
    • +2
      1. The installers attempt to use the conduit you have now. If new conduit is needed there maybe small holes on each end and they should clean up any mess.
      2. Two boxes. Outside a nbn Premises Connection Device (PCD) box on the wall. Inside a nbn Network Termination Device (NTD) on the wall.
      3. The installers do the fibre wiring. Some have had success getting the nbn NTD where they like on the day. Some got a drawstring and conduit preinstalled to get the nbn NTD installed in a specific location.
      4. Your router most likely works on FTTP. What are you using?
      5. Outside no. Inside you need one power outlet.
      6. Not really.

Thanks for the response. I am using the Belong 4353 modem that came with the connection.

        • Belong 4353 is compatible with FTTP and is suitable for 100Mbps. I'm not sure how it performs on Gigabit and 250Mbps.

  • Currently our family is paying $74.99 a month at TPG for the 50mbps plan on FTTN - so we’re looking at both saving money and upgrading our plan for a little bit to get the free upgrade. The best solution would be to go to tangerine for $49.90 a month for 6 months, and then switch over to more nbn at $69.30 a month for 12 months and then drop down to their 50mbps plan and reassess everything after that?

  • How do I get this, I'm a new customer but see the normal prices

    • +1

looks like a targeted promo, you need to type in your address first (here)

  • I've been with Tangerine for a few months from the previous deal, and there's been frequent drop outs and ping spikes most nights during peak hrs. It's nothing like Aussie BB in terms of stability and consistency. The discount and free FTTP upgrade was good but I'm definitely switching after 12months.

    • Why not switch over now if you're unhappy? There is no mention of any penalty.

    • Switch now if you're unhappy, there is no contract

    • I believe I have to pay for the fttp upgrade which is like 150ish if I leave within 12months (otherwise it's free)

  • CGNAT-ed like spintel?
Update: looks like not; you get static IP with them (here)

  • Damn good price, but I already on FTTP…☹️
My Spintel discount finish end of this month.
    Where I have to move?

  • Jelly.. Im stuck with hfc nbn..

  • Can someone please tell me, if my current isp charge a month in advance and that payment was yesterday, if I sign up now with tangerine and they bill me now, am I doubling up or is this the best option considering it may take close to a month before fttp upgrade at which point connection/upgrade date will become the new tangerine anniversary billing date?

  • Any chance some people who have done the upgrade can give me their experience of the new install? Mine has been awful. Fttc to fttp. Short story is I have an exposed aggregate path and the installers said they would need to cut it up and only replace it with some standard grey cement. I asked if they could just go under it (drill etc) or go around but they said no as it would be too expensive or not to nbn spec. I even asked if part of the fibre conduit could be above ground but they were going to do that either. Very frustrating and nbn keeps advertising these ‘free upgrades’ but unless it’s a very straightforward install they don’t seem to be interested. Keen to find out if anyone else with a driveway or footpath has had any issues . Thanks

  • I have switched to Tangerine today from another provider, they have activated it on their end but I still haven’t been able to connect to the internet after 12 hours, talked to tech support, useless. Can I just cancel it?

  • Would anyone happen to know if this modem would be able to deliver the advertised speeds of the Superspeedy FTTP plan, or would I need to buy a new one? https://www.tp-link.com/au/service-provider/xdsl/archer-vr16…

  • I similarly signed up recently for 99.90 / month on 500/50. Now they've upgraded the top tier plan (and our connection), and it's $10 cheaper. That's definitely one effective way to onboard even more users. Been happy so far on this plan. No drop outs so far, performance was already up around 900+mbps down, 30-40mbps up even when it was technically a 500/50 plan. Haven't needed customer support yet though, and they may suck :-)

  • They are clearly overwhelmed with new customer queries. That or the customer service isn't great. I spent 30 mins waiting in chat for somebody to assist me with my enquiries. Poor customer service is why I'm leaving Optus.

  • Will they move my FTTN first? Then start the FTTP process?

(I am trying to understand any outage windows)

    • Would also like to know.

    • Can you confirm what the outcome was? I had the same concern upon signing up, and even after speaking to Tangerine representatives, it wasn't clear. I selected a plan (1000/50Mbps) beyond what FTTN is capable of, so I'm hoping that they'll wait for the NBN Co technician to perform the necessary FTTP upgrades prior to activating the connection, rather than migrating the existing FTTN connection in the meantime.

      • +1

Currently in the process of upgrading from FTTN to FTTP. There is a pre-installation visit to check out your premises, you don't need to be present for that, takes around 30-45 mins. Then they will come again on another day and start the outdoor stuff. This involves digging and running a conduit from the pit at the front of the property to an agreed location outside of the house where the PCD will be installed. This takes a few hours. That's what's been done so far for mine as my activation date is 27th of this month. Apparently another team will come on the 26th to install the NTD inside the house and connect it to the PCD. They will also test the FTTP connection so that it's ready to be activated. All this should have no effect on the FTTN connection.

        • +1

The digging is not always necessary, with mine (a tangerine upgrade also) they were able to use the existing conduit, just ran a new cable down it.
I ordered, within 2-3 days the outdoor tech came and ran the cable and upgraded the box on my wall from a telstra one to an NBN one. A week later the 2nd tech came and installed the inside equipment. The connection was active and running within an hour.

I got the minimum speed available to get the free upgrade 100/20 and get on average during peak 90-96 which is pretty good.

the FTTN connection was working concurrently with FTTP also.

  • Would love anything above 25/5 FTTN…My life has been cursed with a string of bad internet locations. Checked with the link and unsurprisingly my location isn't eligible for FTTP (Currently) but it does say i can get a 100/20 plan which would be great but i have feeling if i go for that upgrade they will tell me sorry your location doesn't allow that speed…Currently with Aussie BB paying $70 for 25/5 and last time i checked with them they said 25/5 was the best speed plan i could get. I pretty sure StarLink is out of the question due to being surrounded by Tall Trees…but i recently realized i'm in a 5G area but 5G Data pricing is off putting. Any suggestions?

  • My current isp is Tangerine. First month was ok and after that down speed is under 5mbps up speed is less than that. Sometimes up speed is faster than down speed. Afyer overseas trip I will change isp. I change my mobile plan from Tangerine already due to cut mobile data. I will never use it again.
