      (for the First 6 Months)

      12 month contract ?

Wont you get charged for the FTTP upgrade by NBN if you don't stay for 12 months?

      • +3

There is nothing about a 12 month contract in the T&Cs. You are allowed to change ISP.

This offer is offered on a no fixed term contract. You are free to cancel at any time without charges. However, cancelling your service within the first 6 months forfeits any remaining discounted months.

        • You are allowed to change ISP.

Some will charge you the fee to upgrade to FTTP is you leave within 12 months.

NBN charge a fee if you downgrade your speed within 12 months.

Maybe Tangerine are absorbing this fee and not passing it on?? Not sure.

          • +3

@jv: Not always. It has to reach a certain % of customers per ISP and yeah the ISP can absorb the fee.

          • +1

@jv: I also looked into this and couldn't find anything from Tangerine about being charged a fee for downgrading speed within 6-12 months.

          • @jv: NBN is not charging any ISP downgrade fees for this, no matter what tech you are moving from, so it's not an issue if you want to downgrade plans at any point.
They would rather you stay at the higher speed tiers, but it's not a must.

            • @SimAus007:

NBN is not charging any ISP downgrade fees for this, no matter what tech you are moving from

              https://www.whistleout.com.au/Broadband/Guides/How-do-free-F…

There are a few bits of fine print worth being aware of if you're requesting a free FTTP upgrade. The most important condition is that if you downgrade your plan or change provider within the first 12 months of being upgraded, you may need to pay NBN Co a $200 fee. For FTTN customers, this means downgrading to a plan below NBN 100. For FTTC, this means downgrading below NBN 250.

              • +1

@jv: They don't charge, that is a fact - if you know anyone close to the industry, ask them ;)
This is just an article written by WhistleOut, not from the RSP, but at least they worded it as "MAY need to pay", meaning they MAY not also.
NBN was planning on charging, but they never implemented it.

                • @SimAus007:

NBN was planning on charging, but they never implemented it.

Does that apply to EVERY ISP ?

                  • @jv: Yes, at this stage they have not charged any customer of any RSP (ISP).
Of course, they may change this in the future, but it is not the case for current upgrades.

                    • @SimAus007: My 30% discount with MoreTelecom finished, so now getting only 10%…

Paying around $107 for for 250/25…

Not sure if I can be bothered switching though to be honest… Most of the time getting speeds around 260/25

                      • @jv: Yes, it's possibly not in worthwhile (as much) in your situation.

                      • @jv: I'm in a similar situation with Tangerine now, my discounted $89 for 250/25 is about up. Considering switching to Exetel, they're offering $84 250/25 for 6 months, with 5 'speed boost' days where you can choose to up your connection to 500/50 for 5 days a month (1 day at a time i think)…and if you don't use all 5 days they bank to the next month.

                        • @juzdownunder:

                          Considering switching to Exetel

                          They've moved to CG-NAT though.

                          • @jv: opting out is free though

Not really, you can only do it if you call them and could be on hold for hours before you get through.

                              • @jv: this is incorrect
Its available from the web interface via the members section.

(and of the couple times ive called them its about a 5-10min wait max)

but hey, keep making wrong arguments and statements to get that post count up :)

It clearly says so on their own website.

"If you need to discuss your service or opt-out of CG-NAT, you can call our technical support staff on 13 39 38."

apology for being a goose accepted….

                                  • @jv: Great, but it's in their web portal also.
Their rep even comments about it over on whirlpool.

I even disabled it when I joined them via the web portal.

Also, thanks for the neg..didn't neg your incorrect statement though

                                    • @SBOB:

Great, but it's in their web portal also.

Non-customers considering Exetel don't have access to the portal, they can only go by what is on their website.

Maybe Exetel can get off their aƧƧ and update their website info…

@jv: Doesn't change the fact you claimed my comment was wrong.

Its fine to admit you don't have all the information, but when someone comes along and adds additional info, perhaps embrace it, enjoy your new found additional knowledge.

For someone with the highest post count on the forum, by a country mile, you'd think you could act as a better example :)

              • @jv: Weird that we can't change ISP even if we stay above 100?

                • @Hellolol: Yep, not worth the risk of paying a $200 fee as the potential savings will be eaten away.

      • +1

FTTN customers don't need to stay on a 250 plan, but FTTC do.

          • +2

@jv: and FTTN customers need to stay on a minimum 100/20

need to stay at minimum 100/20 for 12 months or likely be charged downgrade fee
you - Not if you're currently FTTN, only for FTTC

but hey, good to see you've learned that you were previously wrong :)

            • @SBOB:

you - Not if you're currently FTTN, only for FTTC

              That should have read

            • @SBOB:

              that you were previously wrong

NBN should be clear in all their communications then and provide details, not 'selective' details.

    • I joined in March -.-

        Why didn't you wait?

        • +2

Because Nostradamus did not predict the price decrease

          • @Arks:

            I couldn't stand TPG anymore

            That's a good reason.

          • @Arks: TPG still has no plans to upgrade FTTN to FTTP, I asked again today.

            • @Happyo:

TPG still has no plans to upgrade FTTN to FTTP, I asked again today.

              NBN do it, not TPG.

    • I'm an existing customer and just got this deal. You just need to call or use their chat and they will arrange. Just get confirmation on the discount for 6 months as there is some confusion with the sales team but it is clear in the terms its for both new and existing customers

according to this post, it updates after you put in your address:

"Those prices are for the people doing the free FTTP upgrade"

    • +1

These prices are for people on FTTN/C to get the free FTTP upgrade.

      • I've checked FTTP upgrade locations and the prices don't change. Is there a discount code?

      • -1

Just putting my experience out there. I've been with them on and off for 12 months. Their service is fine but any technical stuff is an absolute waste of time.

Do not use them for a FTTC-FTTP upgrade My post about my experience.

        • I just used them to upgrade from FTTN to FTTP, all good, everything smoothly and on time..

          • -1

            @PeppaCat: Good for you 👍

            • +1

@teacherer: You need to understand FTTP upgrade is done by NBN, not by internet provider…Internet provider can only cut ticket to NBN to request an upgrade….So you need to blame NBN not tangerine…

              • @PeppaCat: Try reading my post before offering advice

                • @teacherer: Do it with Telstra if downtime concerns you. They send you a 25/5 4G modem as soon as you make the order.

                  • @[Deactivated]: Unfortunately there's no 4G reception with Telstra where I live, localised to a few blocks on the coast. Might be worth trying anyway though.
                    Great idea though, thank you.

        • I transferred in March using the prior FTTC to FTTP offer. Everything went really smooth and loving the speed. As the upgrade is managed and performed by NBN, not much for Tangerine to do. 6 weeks later, I regularly get in excess of my 250mbps plan speed,

        • +1

I also had relatively smooth FTTC to FTTP upgrade. Now on 250/25 and get about 265/21 in reality. No slowdown during peak. No drop outs. Main issue was lack of clarity of the process. Had various NBN people coming around when I wasn't home. People turned up one morning to install external box that day when I thought they were just going to plan it. Had to argue where it was to be placed.

The person who came to install the internal box was really there to do as little as possible. Wanted to install in just inside from external box which would have been furthest corner of the house from anywhere we use internet. Managed to convince to run some external conduit to elsewhere in the house but is not the prettiest install.

Showing $109.90 on the gigabit plan for me.

  • +1

My new Exetel month just started today. Any idea how I can cancel?

    • +2

not exactly answering your question, but just note that they require 30 days notice to cancel

      • Then they keep billing you! In my experience

      • as do tangerine

    • +1

Yep im loking to change and these prices are awesome . Im.exetel to atm will never go back enforcing this 30 day bs

    • I'm with Exetel too. I called Tangarine and was advised that only after NBN completed the upgrade, I then contact Exetel and leave them after 30 days. I then need to advise Tangarine my preferred start date with Tangarine. This means I don't need to pay both of them at the same time. I signed up.

      • following the same. how easy to tell exetel "leave after 30days"? last time I called then the guy kept to give $5 then another $5 discount so I stayed due to lazy to change :)

  • Showing $109.90 on the gigabit plan for me.

  • Anyone using these guys on HFC? Experience?

    • +1

I am on HFC with TPG on a 250mbps plan.I get 260-267 usually.

      • Tpg? Are they the same as tangerine?

        • I am not sure that's why I specified my ISP. I wonder who's infrastructure Tangerine uses.

          • @wrx5: Tangerine use Vocus.

    • +1

Speeds are good. Portal is terrible. Customer service is okay.

  • +1

    Tangerine is good,highly recommended.
I used them when I was on FTTN, speed is pretty good. And they also updated my line to FTTP, very stable now.

  • Showing $109.9

showing $62.90 for the 100/20 for me

    • Same here, seems it's targeted even if eligible for the free fttp upgrade

I'm confused. The prices in the title don't match the website?

  • +2

    Does this $30 code work?

    • just tested it and it does

  • How do I post an image?

  • +1

    I don’t see these prices.

  • Anyone had any experience going from Exetel to these guys?

I'm currently on NBN50 so would like the equivalent of that or better

  • I am on Tangerine with HFC 100/20 but hardly get above 50..

    • Where are you located?

  • +4

Am i going cross eyed or do those prices in the heading not align with whats on their site?

    • yeah i dont know where the OP got the prices from.

    • Same lol $49.90 for 100/20 is insanely cheap

  • +1

I'm not seeing the prices in the OP. I'm getting $62.90 for the Speedy plan and my address is definitely FTTP if that actually makes a difference. What am I doing wrong?

    • +1

      i see the same

  • +1

I'm also not seeing those prices OP? Am I doing something wrong?

  • All I can think they might offer differential pricing if your address already has FTTP

    • But if you don't have FTTP it's not like they can just provision it to you either?
