  • Would they upgrade if you are on HFC?

  • Anyone in brisbane on tangerine? do you know if POP is in NextDC? or only Sydney?

  • I guess apartment FTTN is not eligible?

  • Didn't go through the whole thread but how can I find out if I can get the installation process for the FTTP service completed by 30 September 2023 (my suburb is listed on the NBN Co list)?

  • So get this, I am switching from Exetel to Tangerine at the end of the month (27th). The NBN guy came on Thursday to do the pre-installation visit, attendance is unnecessary but I was home anyway. He left after killing my line sync with Exetel. I only noticed he came after one of one pot plants had been moved and not moved back as I was driving out about half an hour after I lost sync. Lodged a fault with Exetel that night after coming home from work and still not having any sync. So now I have to wait until tomorrow for another NBN guy to undo whatever the first incompetent guy did ffs.

Wonder if I can get some compensation from Exetel for losing essentially 4 days of internet.

  • so for those prices, they will only provide it to certain address so if you;re not within their schedule (and they wouldn't tell me) the schedule, they don't give those prices

  • My address is eligible for the upgrade (FTTN) and I'm with a different provider, but the prices are higher. I wonder if there's additional criteria to be targeted.

  • Previously with Tangerine about 10 months ago. Will I be considered a new customer if I sign up for the FTTP upgrade?

  • Jjust did a online chat was told if previous customer no. Wonder if I open a new account with different email it will be picked up as a previous customer

    • I was in that same situation. Had to use a different email.

  • And here I am waiting, wondering if FTTB will ever get an upgrade considering that's 99% of apartments…

  • Anyone having connectivity issues with Tangerine? I switched to them about 2 weeks ago and I get network drop outs when we have multiple devices connected at home. The NBN black box seems to be all fine but we would lose our public IPv4 address (error message also says can’t connect to PPPoE server). This seems to only happen when we have multiple devices connected and using the internet at home (like 3 iPads and 2 HomePods). Usually if it’s just 1 computer or 1 ipad (+HomePods) it’s fine.

I didn’t have this issue with previous ISPs and I’ve also done resets on my routers so I can’t figure out why I’m having these drop outs.

  • How are the international speeds and ping times compared to Telstra / AussieBB / premium tier ISPs?

    • Since they use Vocus for international, they may vary. Very good if use to United States.

  • Any good deals for HFC? Leaptel has been fantastic for $75 (and 100/20 gets the real speeds), however the 12 month promo is almost up and not keen to pay that for a 50/20.

Hopefully I can be considered a new customer and get the referrals etc if it's been a year or two away.

Most use vocus which isn't the best but HFC connection is good regardless of the provider usually.

    Cheers

  • Does Tangerine provide an email account, with webmail access? I'm currently on fibre and no email account is possible, but I'm moving so have to get NBN 🥲

    • Why would you use ISP email? For practical reasons it makes it easier to jump between ISPs when it’s not tied down

      • CBB changing, legacy email from 10 years 🥲 paying $60 p/a …

        I'm not a true Ozbargainer 😭

    • Use Gmail

      • I do use Gmail. Is anyone able to answer my original question? Does Tangerine provide email? Tnx

        • I've had tangerine before, searched my Gmail and couldn't find an email for customer tangerine. Personally it's better just to use one email account, not specific to provider's or companies etc. You may enjoy a reset.

  • Has anyone changed over and have noticed good speed? I was offered the FTTN to FTTP upgrade but the reviews on here makes me want to hold off a bit to see other's experience with Tangerine.

  • I've tried to use our referral system "agent code" according to Tangerine and it says agent code is wrong. Am I doing something wrong? can someone message me their agent code please?

  • My spintel plan nbn 100/20 ends 31st May. Eligible for FTTP upgrade but connection times is 1 to 3 weeks.

Can we switch to nbn 50/20 plan for $54 (new customer) with tangerine for now and upgrade to FTTP within first month and still have discounted 100/20 plan for $49.90?

  • Just checked and im now eligible for an upgrade woohoo! Tangerine was the worst provider for fttn in Perth though… but the only one that I can find that doesnt lock you in for 6 months…

  • How long does it roughly take from the date you initiate the upgrade to the completion?

  • Does Tangerine only change over after the upgrades been done? Signed up last night, got an email saying 'we are now your provider' but pretty sure I'm still connected to Auspost as I didn't have to change the router settings and my speed test still says B2B not vocus

    • +1

Correct. You can basically have 2 connections going on at the same time (FTTN/C + FTTP) if you choose an activation date that's on/before your termination date with your current provider. This is what happened to me, I had a 1 day crossover between Exetel & Tangerine. Should have 2 site visits at your place to do the physical upgrade too.

      • I didn't choose a date, just picked ASAP. The Tangerine support said my area wouldn't be ready u til 16 Aug, but got a text today saying someone will come by the 22nd. Does the person let you know they're there or do they speak to you about where you want the box? Don't want them attaching it on the garage :/

        • Yeah you get a text from NBN the day before they're due to come. You don't need to be present for that one. It's just an inspection. But for the second visit you do. They will discuss the best location for the PCD (outside box) and do some digging if required. I actually had a third visit by a different technician on the day of provisioning to install the NTD (inside box). You can also check the status of your order on the Tangerine account portal and send messages regarding that specific NBN order.

          • @CVonC: Thanks, the guy came for the first visit today and called me as the point was behind our gate. Did you have to wait long for the 2nd appointment? I had a look at the Tangerine portal and it's 5th July, just past the halfway point of my billing date :( is that accurate or just an estimate and they call to make an appointment?

            • @MeesusEff: Well I had a set activation date not ASAP. And the NBN scheduling is accurate. You should be able to change the date of activation before the 2nd technician comes. Just shoot them a message in the order status page.

  • Any $25 off codes first month for new customers?
