  • HAHAHAH THANKS BOUGHT 100 HAHAHHA

    I'm such a comedian

  • +1

Waiting for the Tesla S Plad

  • How much kWh it consumes to fully recharge from 0 to 100? What's the cost savings for model 3 and Y base models?

  • Now falls under threshold for vic EV $3k rebate for the cheapest model!

    • It was the case for Model 3

  • -8

    Exactly as predicted….

  • -4

lol +10k for self driving and another 5k for enhanced autopilot….

    • +2

EAP and FSD prices are independent based on which flavour you choose. They do NOT add to each other.

      • +1

and the base autopiliot on every car is very good already

    • +1

its clear you know nothing, you chose one or the either, not both

      • +2

whoops my bad, yeah when i added self driving, it removed EAP, plus the description says it too (EAP included)

        • +2

kudos on your ability to accept error and acknowledge it.

          Uncommon.

  • +1

more cheaper alternatives are on the way latter on, put your Tesla urge on hold for better saving - the OzBargain spirit is to not pay so much ;)

    • +1

Agreed, there’s no rush in switching to EV now until range and infrastructure significantly improved

      • Except for….. you know….. the climate :-)

          • @alteclan: I hope that article is not saying ICE is better for climate change than EVs, lol.

            • @CuteWittleCorgi: It's not black or white, and I am not an anti-ev either, I just want it to be mainstream before volunteering myself as a lab rat and pay an over-priced gimmick - hey, that's the OzBargain spirit!

I'll be on it when range and charging infra are expanded, price parity with ICE, and no more than 10 mins charging time with no/little queue during peak holidays.

Here's what chatbot ai overlord says about the article:

              • Electric vehicles (EVs) are often promoted as a cleaner alternative to traditional gasoline-powered cars, but their environmental impact may not be as positive as commonly believed.
              • The production and disposal of EV batteries raise several environmental concerns, including:
              • Use of rare earth metals: EV batteries require rare earth metals such as lithium, cobalt, and nickel, which are often mined in environmentally damaging ways.
              • Energy-intensive manufacturing: The production of EV batteries is energy-intensive and relies on fossil fuels in many parts of the world, which contributes to greenhouse gas emissions.
              • Lack of recycling infrastructure: Currently, there is a lack of recycling infrastructure for EV batteries, which means that many batteries end up in landfills, potentially contaminating soil and groundwater.
              • The production of electricity to power EVs still relies heavily on fossil fuels in many parts of the world, which further contributes to environmental pollution.
              • Policymakers and consumers need to consider the full lifecycle of EVs when promoting or adopting them as a solution to environmental challenges.
              • While EVs may be a cleaner alternative to gasoline-powered cars in some circumstances, they are not a silver bullet for addressing environmental issues, and their adoption should be balanced with efforts to reduce overall energy consumption and shift to cleaner sources of energy.

Noone's buying but post engagement is very high. :D

    • Mission accomplished :)

  • -5

Buying a Tesla is a poor idea. Bad build quality and their tech is no longer superior. Just paying for a bad brand name now.

    • +1

I've still never ridden in a car that goes as well as my m3p.

      • How old is your m3p? And do you think youll3be saying the same thing in 5 years time? 10 years?

    • +1

Just paying for a bad brand name

That doesn't stop many people with many brands…

      • +1

Yep I know. People are unfortunately stupid and think brands make them look more impressive. Not much you can do about that.

Just surprised that people haven't wisened up given the last 2 or so years that have demonstrated Elon is an idiot as well as the many years of broken promises from Tesla.

  • +2

    Comes a blue dtick?

  • prefer hybrid better…

    • throttle response on most hybrids is just shithouse vs full EV

    • +1

Hybrid is really the worst of both worlds, have the issues with ICE plus then the extra of the battery…

      • +1

And they are more expensive that the ICE only versions. They really are the worst of both camps.

      • -1

This is just utter nonsense. People in the know would say that hybrids actually have the best of both worlds not the worst

        • +1

Lol. Can’t compare hybrids to full-EVs. There’s no competition in the driving experience.

        • +1

Hybrids have the leftover legacy maintenance issues of internal combustion, along with a garbage driving experience much worse than an actual petrol engine or a full EV car.

Yeah they have good range. That's the only benefit.

(please note I'm not referring to hybrids like a supercar, I'm referring to typical passenger cars)

          • @gavincato: Yes I think when Prius was the only option 10 years ago it was good idea, not these days. Unless you can specifically make it work for you.

  • I see so many Teslas in Sydney CBD nowadays that they're getting boring

I'm waiting for the next new thing to get all FOMO at the mouth about

    • +2

EV's becoming mainstream and boring is actually a good thing I reckon. Just need the prices to come down more.

Don’t forget after 8 years the screen just becomes and air con controller unless you pay for the subscription to continue having navigation enabled.

    Why so much neg?

All Tesla vehicles come with access to Standard Connectivity. Standard Connectivity is included in your vehicle, at no additional cost, for eight years beginning on the first day your vehicle was delivered as new by Tesla, or the first day it is put into service (for example used as a demonstrator or service vehicle), whichever comes first.

What advantages does this motorcar have over say, a train, which I could also afford? 🧐

    • +7

Wow you can afford a train? Go for the train. Always buy a train over a car. Bigger is better. Always. Trust

    • No passenger trains here and the best rebates for EVs. Tesla was a good buy.

    • +5

its harder to find parking in the city when you have a train

    • Less infrastructure requirements.

    • +1

KFC drive through pickup for wicked wings would be a lot more challenging in a train

      • Stick with the zinger combo box and you'll be right

  • -2

I can’t understand how they manage to sell these cars with 4yr 80000km warranties with seemingly no way to extend it here… On the other hand, an $800 discount …

    • +1

The battery has an 8 year warranty and the car doesn’t have any other major component to break!

These cars can do huge mileages with minimal maintenance.

      • I'd assume an EV6 has the same minimal maintenance but that has 7 years and unlimited km's… Also you can extend the Tesla warranty in the US but not here for some reason.

        • The EV6 has expensive factory scheduled servicing to maintain that warranty, the Tesla has no scheduled servicing.

Every EV other than a Tesla has tradition car components in them not optimised for EVs.

Tesla will widen the warranty availability later, it literally only came out a few days ago. The extra warranty is on the base warranty not the battery which is 8 years.

I don’t think you need it, relax. Most of the bad Tesla news you read is by legacy auto vested interests scared of the Tesla disruption.

          • @Grok: Thanks musky, I really fancy a long range Model Y .. been waiting for it to become available

          • @Grok:

Every EV other than a Tesla has tradition car components in them not optimised for EVs.

            Like?

            • @spaceflight: Look at the Munro tear down of the Ford Mach-E on YT, they were appalled at all the excess cooling and other pipes and legacy equipment from the Ford parts bins.

Almost all competing cars to Tesla don’t have a frunk because they are not optimised for EV, they are either a conversion of an ICE chassis or a crude Gen1 ground up EV.

      • that's a good excuse to justify Tesla's peasant interior…

    • Yeah that part is a bit ordinary. If anything goes wrong with mine after that I'll definitely be ACLing it.

  • Are these made in China?

    • Yep, but designed in the US and A, just like your phone

      • +3

        Yar, United States and America

        • they really should change the name

    • Out the back of the iPhone factory

    • Yep made in Shanghai. We've got a 2021 RAV4 hybrid as well and the build quality seems about equal. Mine has done 50,000km and it still feels new, no unusual wear or rattles.

  • Thanks for the heads up!

I actually ordered a Model Y because of this post. Not sure, but it seems like they now offer a long-range, dual-motor Model Y—I believe that they previously withheld this model from Australia.

    • Nice. You are right this is a new addition. Could even be built in USA as not sure the Shanghai factory makes the y long range batteries.

**edit same battery as performance so shanghai power

    • Yeah the Model Y long range variant got confirmed today https://www.chasingcars.com.au/news/new-car-prices/tesla-mod…

    • +1

dang just above the stamp duty exemption threshold

  • +2

Awesome news - can confirm that I have one on order and have received offical notification that price savings will be passed on.
The build date for me is Feb & VIN has already issued.

Find me another company that passes on savings after invoice is issued ;-)

      Amazon

    • When did you put the order in? Trying to guess lead time. Website says April June but it’s been like that all year.

      • I'd go for units on hand for sale right now, depending on your state.

I ordered in November22, just before EV FBT exemption was rubber stamped. So $1200 last time and another $3k today.

Great to see so many lefties supporting Musk's agenda. Your assistance is appreciated.

    • Do tell more about Musk's agenda.

Given your track record with dodgy electronics, you should be banned from talking about anything electric.

      • -2

Still stalking me? Look, I'm a married man with kids. You're looking for someone who identifies as nonbinary, dyes their hair purple, and uses personal pronouns. We're just not going to work out.

        • Lol, get help.

  • So to get an extra 113k's you have to spend another $14k lol

    • +3

20% extra range for 20% extra $, seems ok?

    • +1

Plus an extra motor on the front wheels, plus an extra 140kW of power.

  • +2

My existing order updated with a lower price. Very happy with that.

  • Might get one for checking the surf, then go home and get my Navara lol

    • You’re cool do you surf?

    • haha good idea.
can't help it, if I see a tesla owner with a board I'm thinking likely kook

Don't be silly to buy this

  • Where are we allowed to drive 0-100 in 3.3s?

    • Private track

    • +3

100km/h or above zones. I don't believe there are any laws about rate of acceleration.

      • -2

In Victoria there are. "Speed testing" your car aka doing 0-100 as fast as you can will see your car impounded for 30 days.

        • And nobody here lives any other state do they…… I try my 0-100 in 3. something pretty much every day in mine.

          • @dtpearson: There will be similar rules around the country I'm sure. NSW has the same law. So does QLD.

    • +4

      Freeway on ramp

    • +1

The Long Range, which you're referring to is 4.4s 0-100km.

Fast acceleration is perfectly legal as long as you don't exceed the speed limit and it's not obviously dangerous i.e don't do it while weaving in and out of traffic. I do it daily.

    • School zones lol

  • -8

Tossla now also showing the model Y long range finally… Elon you douche can I pay $50 extra to get my radar back?

    • How's your much anticipated model y going? :)

  • Copper won't let that go, extensive excelleration fine.
