Offer Terms

  • Benefit Limit is $84 per calendar year: The benefit value is capped at $84 in each calendar year, whether you are on a monthly or annual subscription. You cannot carry any unused benefit value from one calendar year into the next. If Amazon increases its subscription fees at any time, this benefit will not cover any amount exceeding the benefit limit and you must cover the difference.

    • Primary Card Member Only: The Benefit is only available to the Primary American Express Australia Platinum Card Member using their Platinum Card; it is not available for payments made with any Additional Card.
  • Enrol Your Card First: You must first enrol your Platinum Card before paying your Amazon Prime subscription to qualify for the benefit. Only subscriptions paid after enrolment are eligible for the benefit. You should ensure that your Platinum Card is set as your default payment method with Amazon Prime to avoid missing the benefit. If you use another card to pay your Amazon Prime at any time, you will not be eligible for the benefit for payments made on that card.

  • Eligible Payments: Both monthly and annual subscriptions are eligible. The benefit only applies to Amazon Prime subscription payments, and excludes any additional purchases or charges, such as Prime Video purchases.

  • Expiry or Withdrawal of Prime Benefit: The Amazon Prime benefit will expire on 31 December 2025. American Express can withdraw the Amazon Prime benefit at any time by giving you 60 days’ notice. After the expiry or withdrawal of the benefit, credits will cease but your Amazon Prime subscription will continue unless you cancel it. You may cancel your Amazon subscription at any time by accessing "Manage Prime Membership" on your Amazon account and changing your membership settings.

  • Direct Payments Only: Your Amazon Prime subscription must be made in Australian Dollars online at amazon.com.au/prime or via the Amazon Prime app to be eligible for the benefit. If you pay using third party payment providers, such as PayPal or Buy Now Pay Later providers, you will not be eligible for the benefit.

  • About Credits: Credit(s) should appear on your billing statement within 30 days from the date of subscription payment but may take longer. Credit(s) are not redeemable for cash or any other payment form.

  • Your use of Amazon Prime: Your use of the Amazon Prime service (including your subscription) is governed solely by Amazon Prime’s Terms and Conditions (including privacy policies). American Express is not responsible in any way for Amazon or its services. Inquiries or complaints related to the Amazon Prime service should be directed to Amazon Customer Service. • Our General Offer Terms: Our General Offer Terms also apply to the Amazon Prime benefit and contain important additional terms.

Annual renewal in August so it works out pretty well♪

  • +1

    Targeted.

  • +3

    Platinum card only?

    • Platnium for me yes, not sure for others.

    • +2

On my platinum but not reserve or edge

  • Got it, thanks.

  • +1

I do not have a platinum card, and cannot see it in the offers.

  • Nothing on my cards.

  • Got on my Platinum charge card. Good deal and loooong expiry so definitely can make use of the offer

  • +4

I don't know if this is targeted so much as it's just a Platinum card benefit?

    https://www.americanexpress.com/en-au/credit-cards/membershi…

    • "The Benefit is only available to the Primary American Express Australia Platinum Card Member"

      • Yeah, but it's just a Platinum benefit, e.g. we don't call the Global Dining Credit targeted.

        • it is both Platinum and targeted to select Platinum holders (according to another below).

  • Yep Targeted

    Thanks anyway @modify

    Ah Platinum OnLy

  • +2

def targeted, I don't have it on my amex platinum charge card.

  • +4

‘Platinum Benefit’ makes me think that if it’s not on your (Platinum) card yet, it will be within the next day or two. The Dining Credit didn’t show up for everyone all at once either.

    • This is possible, I noticed upon saving the offer it momentarily disappeared.

  • +1

Got it… OP might like to change title to reflect platinum charge card.

    • +1

      Done :p

  • Thanks OP, got the offer, perfect for Aug renewal.

  • not on my DJ Platinum card

  • Perfect seeing as I’m due in July. The long expiry is helpful too.

I have it though I'm not sure how it comes to $84? I just checked my annual membership fee is $59, how can I use the $25 gap.
If paying monthly $6.99 per month I suppose that covers all, so it actually encourages cardholders pay by monthly instead of yearly?

    • +2

The OP wrote the offer terms and it's literally the first point:

Benefit Limit is $84 per calendar year: The benefit value is capped at $84 in each calendar year, whether you are on a monthly or annual subscription. You cannot carry any unused benefit value from one calendar year into the next. If Amazon increases its subscription fees at any time, this benefit will not cover any amount exceeding the benefit limit and you must cover the difference.

    • You can use the same card on 2 accounts if you want to maximise the $84 without paying the monthly.

  • Sweet, my AGL sign up deal just expired, glad I held back in renewing.

    • you could always just cancel the existing membership

I like the platinum but do not like the yearly charges. 3rd World countries have abolished annual CC charges. what world are we living in.

  • +1

It's a new Platinum membership benefit than a a cashback offer.

Glad they are introducing more, the USversion card has heaps more like these. They haveentertainment cashback for Disney Hulu

  • Plat Charge main card holder only.

    • Just like other benefits!

  • It's hard to wanna flip because Amex gives alot of offers!

  • Let's say I enroll for the offer, pay annual fee from AMEX immediately after. How soon will I get the credit back? Also can I change back to my usual credit card once the credit back is received?

    • +1

It gets credited within 2 weeks generally. I think terms state can take upto a few weeks.

But why do you want to pay $1400 annual fees just for this offer?

      • Nah.. I've already got the card for more than $1400 worth benefits. This is just a bonus. I don't want to stick with AMEX as my primary card however, hence the question.

  • I thought the annual Prime membership cost was only $59. What am I missing here?

    • No tly cost of you don't go with annual.

      12x6.99 ~~ $84

    • i think you get a credit of up to $84 a year. I had to read it a few times thinking the same thing as you.

  • +2

Just to end the discussion for all mathematicians here.

$84 let's you keep Amazon prime on a monthly basis.
    12x$6.99 ~~ $84

    • I agree!

    • But $84 is the normal price if you pay by the month

      • You are correct

  • Damn. My annual renewal was last month.

    • Get a refund.

      • I tried to, no luck as saying I"ve already used my benefits and can't get a refund…

        • my annual subscription renewal was 2 weeks ago, I used my benefits too, and got a refund for $57.

    • You’ll still get the benefit - check Amex offers. It might take time to turn up.

Couldn't be happier with this offer from Amex! My free 12 months prime from SubHub finished up couple of months ago and this couldn't have come at a better time. Just need to figure out how to move the billing over.

  • Didn't get any notification but checked my offers and it was there.

  • Sadly not targeted at me on a Qantas Platinum Card. Another reason this card is useless in a post 'classic rewards' flights era.

    • It's a Platinum Charge Card ongoing benefit.

    • It’s good to remember that at American Express, ‘Platinum Card’ refers only to the metal charge card. It’s this card on which the Prime Benefit is available. Other Amex cards with ‘Platinum’ in the name, such as the Platinum Edge Card and the Velocity Platinum Card, are not eligible.

  • Just got an email saying it's added now.

  • i can't see this offer when i click the link, doesn't shows in my app. is it targeted or what am i missing ?

  • +1

FYI, Amazon is increasing the price of Prime membership from $6.99/month to $9.99/month effective June 2023. If you're on a monthly subscription, then you should quickly switchover to the annual subscription so that you won't end up paying extra if you exceed the $84 cap.
