AmEx Statement Credit (Platinum Charge Cards) : $84 Per Year on Amazon Prime Membership

110

I saw this on a banner at Amazon AU website. After a long search here, it was posted a while back.

Anyway, for people with AmEx Platinum charge card this is a good deal. Actual expiring date of this deal it's 31 December 2025. OZB doesn't allow a longer than a year expiration date.

  1. Amazon Prime Subscription Credit.

- Benefit Limit is $84 per calendar year: The benefit value is capped at $84 in each calendar year, whether you are on a monthly or annual subscription. You cannot carry any unused benefit value from one calendar year into the next. If Amazon increases its subscription fees at any time, this benefit will not cover any amount exceeding the benefit limit and you must cover the difference.
- Primary Card Member Only: The benefit is only available to the Primary American Express Australia Platinum Card Member using their Platinum Card; it is not available for payments made with any Additional Card.
- Enrol Your Card First: You must first enrol your Platinum Card before paying your Amazon Prime subscription to qualify for the benefit. Only subscriptions paid after enrolment are eligible for the benefit. You should ensure that your Platinum Card is set as your default payment method with Amazon Prime to avoid missing the benefit. If you use another card to pay your Amazon Prime at any time, you will not be eligible for the benefit for payments made on that card.
- Eligible Payments: Both monthly and annual subscriptions are eligible. The benefit only applies to Amazon Prime subscription payments, and excludes any additional purchases or charges, such as Prime Video purchases.
- Expiry or Withdrawal of Prime Benefit: The Amazon Prime benefit will expire on 31 December 2025. American Express can withdraw the Amazon Prime benefit at any time by giving you 60 days’ notice. After the expiry or withdrawal of the benefit, credits will cease but your Amazon Prime subscription will continue unless you cancel it. You may cancel your Amazon subscription at any time by accessing 'Manage Prime Membership' on your Amazon account and changing your membership settings.
- Direct Payments Only: Your Amazon Prime subscription must be made in Australian Dollars online at amazon.com.au/prime or via the Amazon Prime app to be eligible for the benefit. If you pay using third party payment providers, such as PayPal or Buy Now Pay Later providers, you will not be eligible for the benefit. About Credits: Credit(s) should appear on your billing statement within 30 days from the date of subscription payment but may take longer. Credit(s) are not redeemable for cash or any other payment form.
- Your use of Amazon Prime: Your use of the Amazon Prime service (including your subscription) is governed solely by Amazon Prime’s terms and conditions (including privacy policies). American Express is not responsible in any way for Amazon or its services. Inquiries or complaints related to the Amazon Prime service should be directed to Amazon Customer Service. Amazon, Amazon Prime, Prime Video, Amazon Music and all related logos are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. and its affiliates.
- Our General Offer Terms: Our General Offer Terms also apply to the Amazon Prime benefit and contain important additional terms.

Bargain. $84 saved on $1,450 yearly card fee.

There are more benefits to this card. It's not for everyone (certainly not me), but people that spend a lot of money can make it worth it.

    • +2

If you use the card right, benefits usually are atleast triple the card fees.

We got about $9-10k out of the card this year.

Could you explain how you did this?

I’m in my first year so of course with 225,000 amex points, $400 dining, $400 flights, Amazon, Mr Porter $75, some airport lounges, etc I will profit on my $1450 fee.

But how did you get 9-10k out of it in a year with no sign up bonus?

More specifically what do you do with your amex points to get the best value - convert to kris/qatar/etc and book business class?

        • What is the $400 flights you speak of? I have the card but havent seen that..

        • How do you get 225k point? Just checked their site, it's only got 150k.

          • +1

@davdav: Try in different browsers / devices and incognito window. It's a targeted offer based off (presumably) your browser history.

I won't account for the signup bonus we got. Here's the breakdown:

          $450 travel credit
          $400 Dinning credit
$400 Accor membership - 1 free night + we dined at several places which got us 50% discount.
          Amazon $84
$150 Mr Porter, really didn't want it but because it was free credit, we used it.

4 overseas trip- travel insurance retail was about $1600. I understand it might not match the top retail cover but platinum has a top credit card insurance.

My phone screen broke - got paid $400ish for it

Stayed at FHR hotels multiple times - got about $4k and over just out of this program

Cashback offers- sure everyone else got it too on cheaper cards but it's still a value : $400-500

Spent $150k on the card in a year so that's 337,500 Points. Cash value $1600rough. Airlines FF value atleast double or triple.

Hilton honours and Marriott membership. Free breakfast at HH is a very good value

There Virgin Membership too, I didn't get to use it much as I already have a status. But I was able to lend a card to my in-laws and they thoroughly used it. Technically that's 4x memberships if required.

          There's priority pass for 2 - valued at $500 each I think.

There's plenty more to it that will easily add up. You have to tap into every aspect to get value out of it. But also it's fairly easy to just cover the fees.

        • +1

You also get free All Accor membership ($400/year) which gets you a free night stay at any of their chains. $450 credit on Amex travel website

Not sure if we count the free room upgrades/breakfast from as. Bonvoy member.

          All mentioned above haha

        • 325k points was the highest bonus points available earlier this year.

    • I wouldn't be so quick to give this card a hard time.

We have the professional version which has a reduced annual fee ($1200) iirc. Platinum reserve companion comes with another travel credit which you cant get anymore. Even without both of those it's possible to get outstanding value.

$450 TC + $400 TC + $400 Dining credit + $400 accor + travel insurance + phone insurance (have claimed multiple times lol)

We milk the bejeezus out of the value - not even including points earned. Such a good bargain.

Airport lounge but already Virgin Platinum.

The platinum charge is even better than the centurion which doesn't even come with a travel credit.

The benefits mentioned above are not even complete, there are more than this. Without counting the points I earn which are in the 7 figures pa, the monetary values of the benefits listed above and those that aren't, give me over 3 time the value of the annual fee. It's not for everyone but those that are able to make use of it, can get a huge amount of value out of this, and it's almost a bargain worth posting in itself.

  • Sadly, only for primary card holder. I hate offers not available to my company card (supplementary)

A low effort opportunistic repost that has the wrong expiry date and bad formatting.

      opportunistic repost

I just happened to see it on the banner of Amazon. So it is opportunistic.

      wrong expiry date

OZB doesn't let me put an expiry date longer than a year. I did mention on description that it expires 31 December 2025.

      bad formatting

I try my best. Sometimes it's not good enough.

Did you bother to file a report to the moderators to correct the date? I didn't think so.

        • I thought since it wasn't possible to set on the post that it wouldn't be possible even if I reported it to moderators. Now I know that it is possible.
          Thanks 👍

  • there are referral bonuses of 275k points for new members now…. can't post as it get auto deleted.
