  • I was wondering - how could one prevent someone to steal the seat and the attached battery pack? Deosn't seem to be very secure - you just flip the little lever and extract it from the frame. Do we need to take the seat with us if we leave the bike locked at a shop or something?

    • -1

So the silver arrow sport is not speed limited?

      • +1

The two more expensive models (not speed limited) can't be legally ridden on the road in any state or territory. The two less expensive ones comply with the 250W and 25km/h limits.

      • +1

It says it is limited in the specs, even though the blurb says up to 40kph. I believe the app makes Championship adjustable up to 45kph. The Sport may be similar.

However, as mentioned, neither are road legal. See, for example:
        https://www.qld.gov.au/transport/safety/rules/wheeled-device…

The reality may be that if you aren't over 25kph, you are unlikely to be caught if you use them in public. These don't look like overpowered monster ebikes.

        • +1

you may be in trouble if you are caught in an accident though

        • One of the you tube videos mentions having to contact n+ about changing the limits on the upper spec bikes. I assume you need to sign a legal form?

    • +3

@liongalahad I'm waiting for the bike to arrive before taking too many guesses, but I am planning to purchase a full set of Hexlox to cover all the bits and pieces that could be targeted by thieves.

  • +2

We should make our own 'Mercedes eBike Club given all the new owners here! Any pointers to insurance? I am also now thinking of 3rd party! Imagine if you whacked into a BMW sedan while riding it…

  • the height is not ajustable. can a lady with height of 163cm able to ride it comfortably? the small version

  • Does it need service regularly
? Where dose it to have the service? In Benz dealer?

  • My wife's bike was delivered today… I'm swamped with work (still able to take a peek every now and then here though!) so won't be unpacking it right away, but I'm keen to take the new Merc for a ride!
We're located in Melbourne, South-East suburbs. Has anyone set theirs up yet?

    • when did you place the ordeR?

      • Ordered Monday 23rd, bike was delivered Monday 30th.

  • +10

I am in Melbourne and received mine today. I ordered the black version. Some initial feedback….

First thing I did was remove the battery to charge it. Bad idea. The cable in the seat upright is like a spring and went straight down to the bottom of the tube. Luckily I had a claw tool to get it back up. So if you want to remove the battery have something hold the cable.

The bike is exactly what I was after but would not be for everyone. It is really suited to roads or paths. I am after a bike I need to pedal and can get assistance when needed.

Even at 20kg the bike is deceptively heavy. I have a dual suspension mountain bike this heavy, but this bike looks lighter. I noticed the weight AFTER I removed the battery, so the weight must actually be in the motor and gears.

I couldn’t find any instructions, so had a quick watch of the video. https://youtu.be/byKdsccJk_Y

The bike comes with the spanner and Allen keys you need which is nice. They do recommend to torque bolts correctly, so you may need a calibrated hand. The only tool you will need is a bike pump. I would recommend you use a bike pump with a gauge.

The seat is a bit hard for my boney butt, so I think this will be changed ASAP. Love the CVT gearing and belt drive, I had not used these before, but they are nice to use. The motor does have a bit of a whine when it is being used, but did not bother me. I have a huge hill near my place that everyone pushes their bike up and was able to pedal no problem.

I found the bike more enjoyable to ride on assistance level one or two. On level four or five you can really feel the motor stop when you stop pedalling.

Bike looks great and does not look like an e-bike. (one of the main reasons to buy). The Merc sticker looks good, but possibly increases the chance of theft. I would be careful where I park it or lock it up. The integrated display in the handle bars is awesome.

It may sound strange, but the bike does come with nice pedals. A few of the road bikes I have purchased did not come with pedals.

One shock was the bolt on front wheel. I just assumed it would be a quick release. It comes with security bolts, so keep this in mind as you will need the tool if you need to change a tyre.

Thanks for the post guys. Always liked this bike, but it was not in my price range even at 25% off.

    • +1

This is awesome, thank you so much!

    • +2

      Ok, a couple more things….

There are no mounts for a water bottle cage. This is pretty annoying, but it does aid in the nice clean look of the bike.

On my other bikes I mount my phone on the handle bar stem. As the display is there I will need another solution.

      • Have you had a look at the range from Quadlock for your phone mount? They may have a suitable option… and it's nice to support a local company that has produced a genuinely good product.

        • I do like the Quadlocks. Looks like my options are a Quadlock off centre or something like this. ROCKBROS Bike Phone Bag Bike Pouch Top Tube Bag Bicycle Front Frame Bag Waterproof Bike Accessories Bag Phone Holder Compatible with iPhone Xs Max 11 Pro Plus, Samsung S10 https://amzn.asia/d/hehXCK3

Or just keep phone in pocket. The screen has all the speed and distance data, so may not need it out front.

    • +1

      Thanks man. Gets me excited!

      • +3

        This is an awesome bike.
        My biggest surprises….
This was the electric bike I have wanted.
I got this for 50% off. (Top of my budget)
The order went through and was not cancelled.
It was not sold out by the time I ordered.
        My size was in stock.
        Very happy.

One more thing.. it has possibly the best kickstand I have seen on a bike.

    • Great review, thank you. Still waiting for my shipment.

How do you feel about the size? I'm 1.74m tall and ordered the small size. Not sure if I should contact them to change to medium.

      • +2

@rhyme324 I am 173cm and the small seems the right size. Not sure how the medium would be.

Like me you a right on the limit for sizes.
In my quick set up yesterday (close but not perfect) I had more scope to move the seat up than down.

        • I wish I knew that it was easier to move the seat up than down - I would have gone with a medium instead of a large.
Although I might still be able to change size. Worth a message.

    • Mine arrived also but the rear wheel is making a clicking sound as it spins.. like the wheel of fortune… Is that happening on yours too? I wrote to their support but they are ghosting me. Thanks heaps!

    • My order arrived but seems to be missing a quick release or thru axle for the front wheel?

Actually, one of my spokes looks bent too… time to hit up N+ and hope they respond.

      • Oof that sucks. Let us know how you go

      • I had the same issue when assembling, I thought that there was a missing component but then realised the front wheel is attached using the two silver coloured star bolts. You'll find them included in one of the boxes, along with a tool that fits the socket. There are two small black spacers that the bolts slip through to hold everything in place neatly.
…and I also had one spoke that is scuffed and slightly bent, but I didn't feel it was a big enough issue to make a fuss about. This bike is for my wife and she's likely to do way worse than that pretty quickly!

        • Is this a common thing? This person on reddit had the same:
          https://www.reddit.com/r/ebikes/comments/10tzbn9/mercedes_n_…

          • @theguyrules: Might be a packaging issue that allows it to happen during transport.

        • Thanks mate, I'll take another look tomorrow - I did see two silver star bolts, but there is no thru axle/skewer that I would be used to - so still not quite sure what holds it together?

As far as the bent spoke, mine is pretty bent and it's a brand new purchase - mine was also scuffed as well, which I'm less concerned about. I could arguably ride it, given the worst case scenario is the spoke breaks but it would still be rideable home.

No response from N+ so far.

          • @billbro: Watch the assembly videos and it will make sense. The video shows the bolts already inserted into the hub but it sounds like the bolts are separate. It doesnt use a thru axle or quick release.

  • Hope Serial1 (Harley’s e-bike) will launch here soon. Read JB Hi-Fi might bring it to Australia

  • Yet to receive shipping email, ordered 7 days ago.

    • Same. Bit slack they don't reach out and let people know of delays, considering that their outlet page says "Immediate Delivery"

      • A friend used the contact form on the weekend and they said that they were about 2 weeks from shipping due to demand, based on order in the queue. He ordered in the afternoon the deal was first posted. I was later.

I think it would be worth them emailing an update, but I guess it's still progressing nonetheless.

        • Ill happily await their advice

  • +2

Thanks OP - I just pulled the trigger on the Silver Arrows Non-Sport edition. Regarding the SplitIt payment method, will I be interest charges on the amount that is pending?

    • Great choice. I think this is the Silver Arrows non-sport is the pick of the bikes. However, I just loved the look of the black one.

      • I thought so too :?)

    • I’m a little confused about the standard silver arrows version.

It comes with two batteries … does it take both at the same time? Or is one simply a spare that comes in package?

      • The frame design of the Silver Arrows and Championship Edition allow for dual batteries to be used concurrently, whereas the design of the E-Team edition only allows for one battery to be loaded at a time.

        • I was wondering about that too - emailed them and tech support advised that both batteries are in the frame for the silver arrow (seat post and down tube). Two charging ports (under the top tube and under the saddle) and both batteries are charged from either port.

          • @idyllboy: is this for both silver arrow and silver sports?

          • @idyllboy: Thanks for clarifying. I was hoping that the black version would also allow for a second battery to be installed (purchased separately) to extend its range.

I'm also curious as to whether on not the Silver Arrows works with only one battery installed… be great to not wear both batteries if not required.

There not much information about the battery configuration anywhere - the manual is sparse as well.

    • +2

Pending amount goes away in couples of days. Only the monthly installment will be charged. Just make sure you have enough available credit limit each month.

  • There is a normal USB port on the bottom of the handle bar. Anyone know anything about this? Can it be used to charge a phone?

This looks like the same handle bars.
    Possibly 5v/500mA? (So low power)
    https://www.aico.com.tw/product/k5250/

  • Looks like the sale that this deal linked to directly has now gone live / public so I quickly got my order in. If stock runs out I’m happy to take a free upgrade to the silver arrow!

  • +6

I am pretty unfit (have not ridden for years), but just managed a 13km ride in half an hour. Assistance setting 2 while adjusting the CVT makes the bike a joy to ride. I want to ride for fitness so I will keep pedal assist on 1 or 2 as much as I can. Ride mainly on undulating road and bike paths. After 13 km the battery was still showing 5 bars, so it appears I used less than 20%.

I turned the assistance off to go down a big hill and easily hit 50km/h, the hydraulic brakes pulled up nicely. Considering the weight of the bike this is a good thing.

I found a bonus Easter Egg for everyone, not sure if this is advertised anywhere. When you want to WALK the bike up a hill…. If the bike and screen is powered on and you hold down the down arrow the bike will enter “push assist” mode. You will see a picture of a person standing next to a bike and feel the motor slowly pushing the bike.

    • +2

Thanks for the regular update @deal88. Living through you whilst waiting for dispatch…

    • +2

man i wished you had the silver arrow sports one so you can give me a review. Nonetheless keep your reviews coming! love em

      • The Silver Arrow Sports will definitely be worth the wait.

  • anyone got links to unlock it for top speed and throttle only?

    • It doesn't have a throttle at all from what I can tell.
Someone further up said you can move the magnet used by the speedo to make it think its going slower than it is, thus making it go past the 25kmh limit.

    • If you after a higher top speed I think the black bike is not for you. Higher speed (if even possible) would drain the small battery too quickly.

  • These guys are kinda ghosting me now, chucked them an email asking if I'd picked the right bike size (with my measurements + my current bike measurements) seeing as they haven't shipped it yet, but no answer. This was Monday. Bit frustrating after spending $2.5k

    • +2

With 18,000+ click throughs from this post they may be swamped with enquries / orders! Hopefully you hear back soon though - it's nice to have the right-sized bike!

      • Yeah for sure. I ordered an hour or so after the deal was posted tho, so a while back now

  • So keen to pull the trigger on the Championship Bike. Other than the legality of it, any other reason I shouldn't go for it l?

    • +1

Not intending to deter you … but the semi-slick tyres are confusing. This would otherwise be a fabulous hard-tail MTB.

  • Received the bike today 02/02 Sydney, ordered on 24/01.

  • +1

    Dear name,
Congratulations, your Mercedes-EQ eBike is being dispatched from Germany now.
We will make contact soon with tracking information once your bike has arrived in Australia.

    Best Regards,
    Team n+ Bikes

What. I ordered on the 23rd.

    • Made in Germany?

      • +1

I suppose so? Not sure why mines not coming from Perth as others.

    • I got the same email. Stoked as this will be more authentic than most 'german' made mercs produced in africa or spain

      • When did you order, and what size?

    • Got the same email.

      • When did you order, and what size?

        • +1

I put my order in pretty late 29th, M size

    • Did you order the silver arrow sports? i think the higher end bikes are from Germany

      • I ordered the Formula E and got the sent from Germany email.

    • I ordered on the 25th and dispatched today from perth.

  • Also got the dispatch from Germany email. I wonder if they are being shipped directly to us or via Perth.

    • I hope not via Perth! Funny how their site still says "immediate delivery"

      • Doubt direct delivery from GER. I'm thinking 3 weeks or so til im peddling

        • I think you are right. Going to start buying accessories now though!

        • They’re on clearance. Shipping from German stock would indicate they’re running out globally. Which size did you order?

  • How would you rate this Giant e-bike vs the Merc E-Team?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/754823

    • Hi @bauser99 these are really different bikes. Even though they look similar.

Both are great deals at 50% off. The Giant motor is 25Nm with chain and 9 speed gears. The Mercedes is 80Nm with Constant Variable Transmission (CVT) and carbon belt drive. So the Mercedes is a better bike, but should be as it is nearly $1,000 more expensive on sale.

  • +6

    OK, todays feedback….
The bike does not have anywhere to mount a water bottle cage.
I found this reasonably cheap solution on Amazon. Currently 25% off bringing it down to $27.

Deal of the day: ROCKBROS Bike Bicycle Triangle Frame Bag Bike Bicycle Storage Bag Bike Accessories Pouch Pack with Water Bottle Pouch for Road Mountain Bike https://amzn.asia/d/0Z3E1J7

This is what it looks like on the black Mercedes bike….
    https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/53368/101445/e1c77bda-…

In the bottle holder is a Nike water bottle.

Not sure if this will be a permanent solution, but it works pretty good. For size reference only, I could fit an iPhone 14 Pro Max in the zipper area

    • Legend! Thanks for this.
What are you using for a rear light?

      • +1

I had an old generation one Cycliq Fly6 (light with camera) sitting in the cupboard. Fits quite nicely.

I assume the Generation 3 would be a lot better. And they are more black so would probably look better too.

        • +1

          Damn they are neat!
That bag/bottle holder is being delivered today, I'll just stare at it until the bike comes haha

    • +2

Thanks for the updates on your first impressions on the bike. Expecting my delivery on Tuesday as per the tracking advice. Needless to say, very excited. Do like some of the "add-ons" that you've mentioned thus far

  • Anyone found cheap solutions for rear and front fenders ?

    • I think these are pretty much the same. Link.
      Can someone confirm size?

      • they look complicated to fit on compared to the ones which attach to the stem no? amazon should have easier free returns compared to ebayplus . how about these ? https://www.amazon.com.au/ROCKBROS-Adjustable-Mudguard-Cycli…

      • thanks - reckon you're right (certainly the image is the same). These are $59 at pushys but currently out of stock. delivery time on ebay looks to be pretty slow - end of the month.

  • +1

    Black one sold out!

  • +4

Couple of things I noticed with this bike:
    - There's a usb port on the underside of the dash, possibly a charging point for a phone
    - if you lift the seat post right out, make sure you rotate it as you push it back down so the cable will not bunch up and no let you adjust your seat at the lowest level
    - these looks to be a integrated rear light in the seat post, but it's covered up. The more expensive version has the light built in. Wonder if there is a way to buy the light and install it

    • +1

Might be possible to power a front light from that USB port too?

      • I believe it is 0.5 A

        • lol that sounds useless

  • Ordered on 1st feb, hopefully ship soon. Excited, tempted on dual motor but went this one as a starter ebike daily commuter.

Was concerned about support since they didnt reply to my emails.

However found a offical retailer that will do warranty support. Also asking them to assemble incase any potential warranty issue. Told me ever the phone most problems they has with Mercedes bikes was poor assembly by owners.
