Mostly entry level components, but for a mid drive delivered at 1500, that's a great price.

    • Bafang pretty well tested too.

Feel like the 95nm might be incorrect but CBF checking

      • +1

Nah that's what they claim. Subjectively reviews have said it felt less strong than Bosch/Shimano offerings that claim 85Nm, and I'd agree from the test rides I've done on Bafang bikes, but they're pretty close.

        • Yeah that tracks with what I was assuming.

Still can't even get a Shimano ep 8 or Bosch motor for this price so pretty amazing

    • +1

      It's a Killer price.
The Bafang M500 alone on Aliexpress is over $900 (after GST) https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002995833032.html
      Battery 36V13aH 468kW battery alone is $550 for an ugly non-integrated basic/generic brand - up to $1200 (eg a Borsch https://caprouge.com.au/collections/ebike-batteries/products… )

Ie Minimum $1450 just above ; and considering they are "Tested to AS/NZS 61558.2.16. "
+ You get all the rest of the bike, complete with integrated battery design, + wheelset/tires + finishing kit + built!

Visually I would say the frame size is Small gauging the top tube in relation to rear 27.5" wheel.

The specs are all over the place from website to manual to download to images, which show 180mm stamped rotors but 160mm listed, same with tyres ? With upcoming new NSW regulations many suppliers will jump ship than get their bike batteries certified for compliance.

  • It is a good value bike if you are okay with its small battery and high torque but a low power motor i.e. low top speed and low range.

    • What range (of range) would this bike get?

      • I don't know, but my road bike comes with a 336Wh battery, and it lasts for 15-20km with hills when travelling with max assist at 25km/h

Giant's range analogy is decent gauge, for a 400w battery, depending if you are a 'lazy', or 'active' rider who uses gears correctly and lower assistance levels.

        Extreme: 55 km
        Good: 105 km
        Ideal: 150 km

Lazy riders use higher assistance and sit in 1-2 gear ratio's if that… the bikes these folks ride generally have shorter lifespan…

    • You have the rear gears to use in the case of a mid mount motor, so you want torque through the gear range, would be interesting to see how it rides..

      • Power-limited mid motors are great for steep hills (you can easily do 15-25km/h) and good for plains (25km/h). Hub motors are great for plains but not so great for hills.

In my opinion, only high-power unrestricted mid motors (M620) have a significant advantage over good hub motors (Bafang with torque sensor)

  • Really good value , at least branded parts compared to other generic or so called "proprietary" motors lol, and one of bafangs newer middrive for $1500

36v 13ah is abit meh but can't complain for the price

    $1,379.08 on eBay with code - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/364206542019

  • Anyone buy?

Could you post up the measurements such as wheelbase (axle to axle), outer tyre to outer tyre, frame length etc?

How tall you are and if you think the bike is a good fit for you?

    • +1

      axle to axle 105cm
      wheel to wheel 170cm
seat at almost the lowest position ~85cm = perfect for me at 170cm of height

      would recommend

    • Also grabbed one - Having a blast.

It's too small for me at 180cm so wife is taking this one but still having fun till I find a bargain

      • What height would you recommend for this bike? I've been eyeing this and I am 175cm.

I've also been looking at this one which is a bit cheaper but a bit less torque at 80Nm : https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/364206541826?itmmeta=01JDJQ2ZPBM…

        • +1

I can ride it fine but feel the handlebars are a bit low. Wouldn't put me off for short commutes but long trails (What I want to do) I think it would end up causing some issues
