        • You might have massive troubles ahead of you mate. I tried and now my NBN line or whatever is stuck. I moved to AussieBB and now they're saying they can't connect me because of that. Went back to Tangerine they said it's something to discuss with AussieBB but they said they will deactivate my NBN line anyways. Went back to AussieBB and they're saying wait 24 hours which I have done since the 6th called back today and got told to wait another 24 hours. Now I'm just stuck with no internet forever.

          • @iLikeSales: Stuck? That's odd. Did you cancel with Tangerine first or sign up with ABB first?

I'm thinking of moving to exetel

    • So just an update.

After multiple attempt with support, the last one insisted she need an "nbn password and username" to gain more "access". No idea what that is as we were never provided any and never needed any before in Internode/Superloop/ABB.
She also insisted it's router issue when we were fine previously.

Bloody atrocious service…. I'm very dubious on the upvote count, seems like a bunch of bots, comparing to other provider's deal thread.

Going to switch out to Exetel…

      • +1

Did you change connection type to PPPoE and put the username and password emailed to you in the router?

        • !! Wait by nbn username/pword, they meant the ISP username/pword? I thought it's something tied to the NBN box.

Ugh… What a mess. Let me give that a whirl.

Edit: Think that might be it. It was defaulting to Dynamic as Superloop used that. My girlfriend said support never once mentioned PPPoE in any of the calls ffs…

Still contemplating on switching after I get back, will test speed now that things are stable (I think)

          • @shattered: Yeah also my first ISP that uses PPPoE, though I've been pretty happy with them after making sure router config was correct.

            • @BeerCrisp: I just did speed test (5pm on a Wednesday in Victoria)
              ~30Mbps download ~15Mbps upload

              I'm on 100/20… I regret even more now…

              • @shattered: Sorry to hear that.
I'm on the XXXL plan and just did a test
                ~260Mbps Download / ~19Mbps upload

So no complaints from my end after the recent switch.

Do you know which tech type you are on for NBN? FTTN there could be a few different reasons. Hopefully, their support can help you out if it is not similar to what you previously had.

                • @Cheequee: Hey it's all good, I didn't really expect much due to the low price, but not this bad.

I'm on FTTC, the speed with Superloop was pretty good previously. So I'm not sure what is different this time.

                  • @shattered: Seems like a config issue, either on your end or theirs.

Like a lot of things in IT, when it works, it works! But when it doesn't go to plan it is a bitch to sort out.

I wish you all the best in sorting it out quickly my friend.

              • @shattered: Try restarting your router.
Router needs to be restarted from time to time when speed is getting slower.

      • I used my personal asus rputer beforw with tpg.
I cjange only user and password bit it wont connect and it was my router to nbn that couldnt connect.
Once your router connects to nbn wait for few hors to 24rlhrs. then only time tangerine can activate the service.
I was furious at first as it seems easy as i only need to change the user and password as all seems same when i was using the same router with rpg.

Did typical troubleshooting: reset nbn, on off nbn router, soft reset router pushing the pin same with nbn then input yser and pasword. Not able to resolve.
I can see nbn led light on and router on nbn device but no light in wan led on my asus router.
I was on fttc why i have an extra nbn device tgat beeds to be conbected to my persobal router.

It was the router not connecting to nbn and tangerine cant do anything about it.

I "hard" reset my router and this time i have to go to the setup wizard of my router like you are setting up tje rputer the first tine and i only have to input the use/ password and everything starts connecting to nbn and wan on my router.
Then it was enabled in few gours.

  • For the Referral code, there is no place to enter this information during sign up process.
I had chat with customer support but they want to validate the account of the referral code so if you have received the code from Ozbargain via private message, it won't work.

    • I used a referral code from random ozbargain.
It was part of the signup to input the code.

      • They only have a field called Agent Code, no referral code I can put in.
I signed up without it anyway

        • Not the field agent code

          • @atlinus: yeah, nothing else.

            • @Dalgona456: Hmm.. i thik it was when you setup your profile it will ask you to enter referal code
              D
Search in google for tanferine referal and select images so you can see how it looks like

  • Just got mine moved from superloop to tangerine. It was not all smooth, after configuring username and password in the router the internet was still down. I had to call them up wait about 30 minutes on hold and once I got to speak with someone it magically started working again after rebooting my router. I had rebooted my router a few times before calling them so pretty sure they had to do something manually. I got the email confirmation of successful activation while on the call lol

In any case it was an ok experience. I was taking a risk moving to a new provider (new for me anyway) and I am happy it works with same speed as superloop. I have HFC.

    • They cannot do anything until nbn detrct the signal of your router. Once nbn detects your router only they can see

  • Does anyone know if you can sign up and delay connection? I'm about to hit my 6 months discount with Leaptel so looking to churn to tangerine to take advantage of the deal. Leaptel bill day is the 24th of the month so have a while to delay after the offer ends with Tangerine.

    • +1

Decided to go through the order process and see if there was a 'preferred connection date' or similar. There was, we'll see what happens towards the end of March!

  • XXL Speed Boost is still discounted to $62.90.

  • Have been trying to get an NBN box sorted through these guys, easily one of the most frustrating and incompetent ISP customer service teams I've ever had to deal with. Will very likely cancel my service in the next few days. Have been told that I'll have an update on my case within 24 hours, for 5 days in a row now, with not a single update given.

If you're connecting NBN for the first time, definitely go with a more established provider who know what they're doing. Aussie Broadband for example were always on the ball.

    • Just adding to this - they've seemingly disconnected my neighbouring unit's internet, instead of connecting mine. Absolute chaos, would not recommend.

  • Did anyone sig up to this deal using the Ecconex referral via Shopback? I have not had the click recognized as a purchase yet even though i did it on the 20th of Feb. Actual connection wasnt until the 3rd, though was supposed to be the 1st but they botched it up.

    • Was that the $99 one? I did that and its tracked in shopback… cannot wait for it to be approved next month. This ISP is bad for gaming. Unplayable bad on peak days/times.

  • Been on Tangerine since January and get dropouts at 8pm several times a week. Speeds are good but the dropouts are becoming tiresome. Looking to switch back to ABB or Superloop if things don't settle down

  • Tangerine sucks @$$ for online gaming. Regular pausing on peak nights. Gamers, definitely avoid this mob.
