Looks like a pretty good deal for a cheap office PC or server, especially with the 256GB SSD included. Might even be an all time low.

Might regret posting this before I've finished deliberating reasons to buy it.

Nearly a 9 year old CPU, I’d rather get something 7 or 8th gen for not much more.

For desktop yes, but these make great little servers and gateway devices.

Super easy to configure, deploy and support esp if you're throwing Linux onto them . With an SSD instead of a HDD they're bombproof.

    • Got any suggestions, and links?

I've been using machine of similar specs for nas, router, dns, homeassistant and all sorts … but always interested in a bit more power if its a little more (like no more than 50 bucks more.)

  • Very nice but I have 2 already for freepbx setup.

FYI these things have an mSATA port but you can't use a HDD with it, and it's very restrictive on what WiFi card you can use (it comes up with a BIOS error if you plug in anything but the limited supported models). Some people have put hacked firmware on there to support their specific card, but it's a fair d**k move by Lenovo. On top of this there's no room for a 2.5" HDD, so they feel way more kneecapped than they should be

That being said, it's a good price for what you're getting

I always assume they do this sh1t to save $, but you're right, why kneecap the wifi card??? And why not include the ability to drop a 2nd SSD into the thing?

      OTOH, it's $114, shipped…

  • I'm after an USFF w/USB-C & HDMI. I'm setting it all up here and then shipping it to the US, as a surprise gift. Are there any like this out there that aren't too pricey (it'll cost $50+ just to ship).
