    • Did you have to pay for anything to cancel since you barely used the service?

      • The consultant was not sure if I need to pay anything. She told me to wait a couple of days to find out. I told them though, I am not going to pay anything as I didn't use any of their services. I wanted VoIP with the internet and the billing already started with VoIP nowhere in sight. Thankfully I didn't cancel my current provider otherwise I had trouble working from home.

    • It just transfers to an actual human if the bot can't assist. Was easy as in my opinion

  • Finally connected. Getting about 10-15%% lower speeds (peak time), but saving 50% on price so I'll keep it for now

Checked the kids Xbox. Nat now says open; before used to be strict or mid(or something similar) and the Xbox speed test was over 95Mbps

    • Down: 87Mbps
      Up: 13-15Mbps

  • +1

Newcastle getting 46 Mbps and 23 ms ping.

Absolute garbage considering I was getting better speed and lower ping on an ABB 50/20 plan.

Can't imagine paying full price for this.

  • How would i know if i have switched over to Spintel?

    • +2

The fact you would have needed to reconfigure you modem/router with PPPOE details would be the giveaway.

Check your order detail page - there's a link in the emails from Spintel. You can also check https://www.whatismyisp.com/

      • its weird they are asking me the MAC+serial address for both the NBN device and my router

if they hacked, im not sure how damaging that could be.

    • +1

They also send you an SMS saying you're nbn is now active

Tried to join last Saturday from Superloop at 9am. I have to autopay Superloop on Sunday. Nothing happened at 11 am. Call Spintel, waited for 1 hour. Then I was told because no Technical team at Weekend, I have to wait until Monday before I can be ported.

I have to cancel the application because otherwise I have to pay the monthly fee for Superloop.
Went to Launtel. Ported to Launtel in 10 minutes. Good speed. Did not bother to try Spintel again, because really have no time on Monday and Tuesday.

May try next time after Spintel has finished absorbing the new batch of customers, and offers a good deal again.
It is NOT good that you cannot port on Saturday morning!

    • Just avoid signing up too close to your payment cycle date. Easy. That's your fault mate.

      • I thought porting didn't work on the weekend for any service providers?

  • Still waiting for connection and my plan ends today with my current provider. I guess will be left with no internet for few days now

    • its pretty terrible customer experience for NBN.

im waiting 2 days now and they told me a tickets been created and wait 2-5 business days.

luckily im with Launtel so I can extend day by day

      • That's what they told me as well. I am.with Superloop and don't think i have the option of going day by day basis.

        • placed an order on Monday, I called them up(yesterday) and said I need to be connected by tomorrow latest and said they'll escalate and do their best to activate same day or next day. I was connected yesterday 3 hours after speaking to them.

Try calling them and be friendly.

          • @JungliChilli: I escalated via live chat as couldn't get through call after waiting for like 45min.

The status has changed for ticket raised to in progress.
I have followed up like 3 times since then.

            • @BinnyC: same boat i end up signing launtel for day by day rather than no internet during weekend.
no modem nbn box MAC and serial no, no DL and copy needed…and connected within 5mins!!!! after 5pm
Be very nice still no luck.

        • Surprised you getting decent speeds, was only getting 65-70 out of the advertised 100.

  • Got connected today. Getting 95/15 but the connection disconnected a couple of times . Hopefully will not be a recurring incident . Was not able to get in touch with support and gave up after an hour of trying.

  • I ended up churning, but it honestly wasn't worth the hassle. SpinTel were hopeless during the churning process, as they didn't correctly activate the account (subsequently resulting in failed authentication), and then the support representative was adamant that it was a router configuration issue and that I should perform a hard reset (it wasn't and I didn't). Currently, my network speed is a paltry ~10/0.5Mbps and the connection is so unstable I can't even perform a basic deployment for work (I'm working from home). It's impossible to contact a support representative within a timely manner to get them to investigate the issue. Finally, adding insult to injury, Exetel is trying to charge for an additional month of service (even though I cancelled ~7 days prior to the end of the billing cycle). It seems that others have had more positive experiences, so perhaps I'm just unlucky.

    • Just a quick follow-up, to SpinTel's credit, they resolved the abysmal network speed within ~4 hours after reporting the fault/issue by performing a 'network reset' on their end, whatever that entails. I can still only achieve ~53/12Mbps due to being stuck with FTTN and an excessive distance to the node, but this is obviously beyond SpinTel's control.

  • just connected, essendon, victoria. 91/15 speed test. seems ok so far. ping 28ms - about 10ms higher than leaptel before this

    • how long does it take? when did you place your order?
i have placed on 30/11 now still yet activated
have already cancelled SL due to last day yesterday
dont think they will activate during weekend and have to sign up Launtel for daily internet for weekend.
launtel activated in less than 5 mins!!

      • How much is per day with Launtel and what inclusion?

        • I got the $2.50 per day 50/20 I think. Will have during weekend and hopefully I will be connected by Monday.

  • In addition to my previous message, I have received my first bill from SpinTel for $53.90. Seemingly the advertised $49.00 monthly didn't include the 10% GST?

    • Surely not? That’s got to be a mistake.

      • +1

        From my email.

Your first bill is a little different, we have aligned you to one of our billing periods with pro-rata charges. You will receive your next bill on approximately the 7th of next month.

        • That makes sense then.

        • Well spotted. I tried to downvote myself. Seemingly, purely coincidental that the pro-rata charges were 10%.

    • They calculated it monthly payment, so the first one would include some more days. It states in their email.

  • Was anyone able to transfer their home number over?

  • +3

False speed claims on their website/plans. Advertised 100/20. More like 90/12 in actual terms. Also took 3 days for them to activate/churn from ABB (not to mention the connection happened at exactly 1PM today just as I was about to jump into a string of afternoon meetings over zoom with no time to reconfigure my router for PPPoE).

Definitely wouldn’t be paying full price for these speeds/connection quality. Not in a million years.

Here’s a comparison pre churn vs post churn ABB vs Spintel: https://imgur.com/a/NRu1OVW

Queried their support in online chat who stated “it’s up to 100/20”. Funny that, since the ACMA very clearly state that RSP’s cannot use that terminology anymore.

must not use the term ‘up to’ in any claim you make about broadband speed

    https://www.acma.gov.au/nbn-service-rules-telcos

    • Nice find. End of the day it's $50 a month with 10mbps less than the top tier providers
Yes their advertised speed is misleading and that's not good

      • +1

Many are getting speeds much less than that, I could only get 65mbps with 30-40ms ping.

Better to keep my good 50/20 connection (but ended up upgrading the plan while still in the promo period anyway).

  • +1

Signed up last Saturday for connection on the 30th and still not connected.

Followed up on live chat/Whatsapp repeatedly the last couple of days and kept getting told the issue was in progress and they would get back to me. My superloop ended yesterday so now without internet until Spintel gets this sorted.

They keep saying "2-5 business days" but you would think if I had signed up for the deal 4 days before the requested connection date they could've got the ball rolling..

    • Got connected today finally after ringing again this morning - 93/15 7ms ping.

  • +1

just sign this up, so their speed will be recorded https://www.accc.gov.au/business/business-operations-and-cos…

      Class action haha

  • 88/15, 9 ping. syd metro

  • 78/15 , 16 ping. 2118 HFC. had to follow up on whatsapp, and chase for the login details. its not the same as the account login. My nbn box had green lights on friday so should have chased them earlier for it.

  • 93/14, 8 ping - pretty happy!

  • I'm unable to play my online games anymore.
Connected to the 5GHz on my new router TP-Link AC2100.
    min: 22 ms
    avg: 436.3 ms
    max: 2222 ms
    median: 271.0 ms
48/10, speeds are inconsistent. Since I'm FTTB, I max out at 60 which is okay. But I hardly ever see 60. Even at 2AM.

  • My wireless download speed is only 15.2mbps?

    Can someone advice?

Restarted modem but it will max out at 20mbps..

    • Try a different Wifi channel or use the 5ghz band

  • Anyone else still waiting to be connected? I put in the nbn order on 30/11

    • +1

took them a week for my order to be connected (ordered on the 28/11, connected today, 5/12).

      • good to know I'm not the only one. did you have to contact them at all?

  • +1

I signed up on the 25/11 and only got connected today.

Only to be hit with a red light optical fault.
Now i need to wait 2 days to be contacted by their faults team.

i was in contact with them a few times.

  • Got activated today and I'm noticing that my VPN to my home is no longer working. Does SpinTel block incoming ports?

    • Ah just realized spintel is using CGNAT..argh.

      • Pros and cons.. it's another later of protection. do you prefer a public IP? People can see your exact location so you should set up a full-time VPN otherwise?
Leaptel you can enable/disable yourself, on the webpage.

Anyway cheapest isn't always best, I can imagine most people wished they had stayed with their previous provider.

  • Just connected this afternoon after longer than the 2-5 busines days since sign up. Connection speed in northen melbourne suburbs @ approx 6pm: 93/9

  • +1

Starting to regret. We have been without internet for 4 days. I have been trying to call Spintel since last Friday. Waited on the phone for more than 2 hours today and no one picked the call. Chatted with someone online at Spintel, asking to charge me $150 for an NBN technician to come and troubleshoot. The connection was fine every single time with previous nbn retailers.

  • I read some of the negative reviews and was crossing my fingers it won't be me…
Because of the good price I signed up last week on 28th, nothing happen the next day, and following day, Wed nothing, I had to call and chased them twice.
Finally after 4 days I was connected on Fri. Speed have been HORRIBLE. Before I'm on the 50mb plan, and usually getting around the 40s mbps with Mate, Tangerine and even better with ABB. Now I am getting these on https://www.spintel.net.au/speedtest

    21 Mbps / 14 Mbps 52.7 ms 205.2 ms
    36 Mbps / 16 Mbps 49.3 ms 12.0 ms
    22 Mbps / 16 Mbps 63.8 ms 295.5 ms

I've tried other speed test too and its all over the shop, best was once 60s, and sometimes just over 10mb. Even youtube is now buffering.
it can't be my router either, i've rebooted them and with other providers it has never been an issue

I'm planning to leave at the end of this month maybe earlier if i can't take it, just wondering since its a month to month contract i only have to pay $49 and nothing else right?

  • I cancelled straight away and was able to reverse the churn with my previous ISP. They didn't read the account notes not to proceed and glad i did looking at all the comments. I knew it wouldn't be very good areas other than SYD thanks to @SimAus007.

Getting pretty good speeds with Leaptel and would recommend them 100%. The customer support is great too, get through on the chat straight away.

constantly 105-107Mpbs, ping 7-8ms with router test or 9-12ms speedtest

  • +1

so far customer service has been a joke.
I wish i never signed up with them.

  • Order submitted on 30/11, just connected, 95/18mbps at 11 am. South Morang POI

  • Damn bummed I missed this. My Telstra 5G blows

    • It would still be better than spintel..
      Read all the comments

      • Considering the amount of clicks this deal got and how many people signed up; I'd say generally the majority will be pretty pleased with Spintel. It's just that people who aren't happy are more inclined to make it known.

I signed up, and even though my speed has dropped around 10%, saving 50% per month is worth it.

        • The speeds vary wildly depending on where you are. Guess people were over paying for a 100/20 plan before moving. Personally I decided it was better to stay on a good 50/20 plan for $5-10 more than this plan, as the speeds were nowhere near that being advertised.

Do you really think everyone would stay with them after six months.

          • @G-rig: Probably not; but like I said, I think the majority of people are happy with them for the price they're paying. I am one of those people.

            • @Danstar: Fair enough, it's cheap for a 100/20 plan, not that you'd get that unless In Sydney . The connection time and customer service sucks too.

              • @G-rig: I'm in Melb. and getting 85+

Customer service was ok when it took them 2-3 days to connect me; Which I did find odd, as usually a churn has taken 15 minutes with other providers

              • @G-rig: agree for 100/20 its very cheap.
for small family of 2 probably they wont stay 100/20 after 6 months, but maybe they downgrade to 50/20 but still with spintel. or they got powerball and decided to not bother to change. that the purpose of this marketing. to get people to try. and yes, best for NSW resident

customer service for me is TOP. real time whatsap with local staffs, than for sure better than email only with some indian support centre (belong)

                • -1

@CyberMurning: Yeah most people move every 6 months once the promo price ends, not that hard to cycle between 3 or 4 isps, little bit of a hassel but not bad. I wouldn't stay with spintel anyway. The good thing about Leaptel is the promotional is for 12 months so less stuffing around.

                  • @G-rig: if i remember correctly, i done a comparison leaptel vs spintel (but on 50/20 promo before this BF deal) and even if i stay with spintel for a year, total would be slightly cheaper. for me, i probably will stay with spintel unless there is another promo like this 100/20 from different provider, or significant cheaper promo than what i paid with spintel after 6 month (for 50/20).

                    • @CyberMurning: Yeah I just try and stick to under $50-60 for 50/20, prices seem a bit better these days.

                      Whatever works..

Ordered on the 25th. Still waiting.

Getting PADO timeouts on my logs- have reset router multiple times, have tried four different and known working routers. Have tried routers at different address which indicates its not a router problem. All routers work fine.

Tech support have conducted tests indicating everything should work on their end. Have escalated was supposed to receive a call back yesterday and still waiting.

If not connected today, I think we will cancel.

    • +1

Ask them to send thier router for free. If it works, you'll pay for it. If not, they can have it back and you'll move on.

  • +1

    I am not getting 100mbps
I have been with Spintel for a week and best is about 94mbps. Average is about 60mbps. This is offpeak times. This is BS. Has anyone complained yet

    • Yep, same bs for me too.
      Complained to who? Spintel?
They 'escalate' to level 2 who come back with a standard copy paste saying it's not them, it you.
I have a copy of the email reasons impacting your connection bs.

    • Although that’s not hitting the advertised speeds I’m pretty sure that’s probably within what’s deemed acceptable and there’s not much action you can take (besides leaving). Count yourself lucky you’re not stuck with the 50-60Mbps crowd in QLD, WA etc.

Spintel do not overprovision their connections so you’ll actually never get 100Mbps whereas ABB, SL, Launtel etc. you’re hitting -105Mbps. I’m guessing there’s probably some wording somewhere in their T&C’s stating “UP TO” in relation to speeds.

  • Is anyone facing an issue with their mesh connectivity after connecting to Spintel?

I noticed that my smart devices cannot connect to my mesh when it is connected to the Spintel network however when I switched over to Telstra 5G, it works.

    • What brand mesh? I have a deco m5 system and all is fine.

  • Poor speeds with Spintel. For a 100/20 plan, you're getting at best 93/15 or so. High latencies/ping. Frequent drop outs. Even speed testing on their own website, the speed hits a downstream between 65-70 Mbps during non-peak hours max. If you cancel the plan within a cycle, you'll be billed for the entire month even if you were only with them for a day. There's no pro rata billing. For $49/month, you get your money's worth. Wouldn't pay full price ever though.
