    • Same here. My booking fitting date is third week of January.

The order is not on the account any more.

  • I have booked in the tyre service deal, anyone know how to claim the $100 servicing discount?

  • When I went to pay for my tyres at the service centre after it was completed, I got an email from AMEX that the MyCar transaction was tracked.
Today when I logged in, I can see that I have received my $100 rebate from AMEX.

Not sure if it makes any difference, I also had a wheel alignment performed, and a broken brake lamp replaced by them in the same transaction.

    • How much charged on wheel alignment

      • $79

        • +1

Did you try and push them to include it for free.
I bought 8 tires so hoping they will.
Im also going to service my car

          • @easternculture: I did not push. You can give it a go, especially given that you are purchasing 8 tyres.

          • @easternculture: They might do a dodgy job if you push.

    • Same here. I don't know for whatever reason, my AMEX account get $100 credit from mycar offer - which I didn't expected because my order was from online Black Friday.

      • I thought if you spend more than $400, then you will be $100 back? Am I wrong

        • Yes, but this year Amex offer only for in-store transactions and excludes purchases made on Black Friday.

  • For those who got price match from Jax, does Jax require a screenshot of the specific tyre and price before matching mycar prices? or a simple call over the phone will do?
And which Jax in NSW does ozbargainers got actual price match?

For Bob Jane, sounds like a no deal for price match.

    • Are you asking this info to prepare yourself for next year?

      • Yes.

        • +1

Unsure how exactly but some managed to use others uploaded screenshots to get price matched at Jax and Bob Jane. In short they needed to see what were Mycar prices before they could match them. Next year if you don’t get a price match on the first attempt just keep trying other stores.

          • @wtfnodeal: Thanks. Hope next year this deal will continue.

    • +1

Yes, I did price match with Jax. I called store, they wanted a screenshot of the tyre deal from mycar website e-mailed.
After emailing they called me back and approved the price match. I got the tyres installed today.

There where a few people who came in, while I was waiting, to pick up Pirelli tyres.
One person who came in left empty handed as the tyres had not arrived yet due to supply issues… go figure…

      • thanks for sharing

  • +13

Just to share my experience and a heads up for those who haven’t had their tyres fitted.
I had a 9.30am appointment today to fit the tyres and after 1 hour of waiting at the nearby shopping centre, I went back to the Mycar and was told they had no tyres yet.
I recommend you call the Mycar store you have the appointment made 1 day before you rock up just to be sure they have your tyres inside their stores and ready to be fitted the next day. Don’t rely on their computer system indicates there are stocks coming etc.

    • I was booked in via the website for Monday and got a call this afternoon saying my tyres were in and they could fit them first thing tomorrow morning if I wanted.

    • I have the same terrible experience in Mycar, when I go inside the store, I am told my tyres are not in store and I should call them before I come. What a sh** service.

  • Has anyone paid online and managed to get Amex $100 cashback? My wife picked up the car this afternoon was told their in store system was down and had to pay via a link to their website. Sh!t out of luck.

  • 4 pirelli P zero runflats, working out to be $209 each after 50% off and Amex x2. Great deal, now to see how long they’ll last and if mycar repair minor nail punctures despite the “non-repairable” status.

They called me when tyres were in, didn’t give a stuff about the 5 Dec fitment date in the terms of offer.

  • +1

Went to Mycar this morning. 30 min later after I gave them the key, they called me saying that the tyres for my car is not in stock and there is no ETA. Not a good start for my week.

    • +1

That’s why I recommended you all to call the Mycar store to be sure they had stocks before heading over.

      • Yes. I just didn't expect this kind of problem for such a big company

      • I got a call from the local store yesterday for an update. They said my tyres are coming from nsw and wa..they will contact me when they arrive.

        • ?! They told me my stocks Pirelli Powergy in 215/55/17 size would be coming from Victoria? Which Pirelli and size did you order?

          • @wtfnodeal: PZero PZ4 245/40R19 & PZero 225/45R17 (told them i wanted this one in a PZ4, they are checking if i can get them as PZ4 does come in this size)

  • Have myCar offered anyone to do it in 2 months time or switch to cheaper Continentals?
Didn’t like being told after 2 weeks wait.

    • Think that has happened every year. You either wait for stock or they give you an alternative and i guess some stores offer you a cheaper alternative in the hope you don't realise or just accept it.

    • I'm in the same boat as well, 1 month wait and will be losing out on the Amex offer.
They have offered to replace with the cheaper Goodyear or Kumho and can get them done asap, with the same price as the Pirelli booking. Very unhappy.

  • +1

i have live chat with them to confirm my appointment tomorrow.
luckily i have checked that i would assume tyres are there ready for tomorrow and being told they still waiting for stock.
being offered to another near by store which has the tyre in stock.
honestly it is not acceptable service considering order was placed nearly two weeks ago.
hopefully Pirelli tyres are reliable and durable.
strongly recommend if you cant call, do live chat.
    thanks.

  • I had a good experience with the Jax price match. I had previously a couple days before the deal contacted mycar and got a quote emailed to me for the tyres I wanted. I then just gave the details over the phone (read them… they did not need a copy) to Jax on black friday and they matched it with the 50% off. I had the tyres fitted a week later at my local Jax. Great service at Jax, and they were easy to do the order and had the stock when they said they would and speedy with the fitting. My tyres original price was $725 so 50% off was a nice saving!

  • Had a good experience with Kellyville store called them and he confirmed I can come on my scheduled appointment for 9th.

  • Has anyone received the Amex credit $100 after spending online at Mycar website on Black Friday where the Amex statement says “Kmart Tyre & Auto Service Castle Hill”, presumably their hq?

      • Thank you! I spent online Black Friday plus in store with a total over $500 but they show up as two dif merchants on Amex. Let’s see if I can the Amex credit. Where did you read the Amex T&C that excluded Black Friday online?

        • +1

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/733877 It's from the offer this year. This is the full offers on my account, that's why I don't understand why I have credit.

  • +1

Well, I didn't confirm appointment or check whether they were in stock.

But I turned up to my appointment on time and 1.5 hours and an alignment later, I have 5 new tyres :)

    • 🤔 5 tyres?

      Did you replace the spare

      • Yep. I include the spare (it's full size) when I get the tyres rotated.

  • Just had my 2 tyres replaced today, no issue or hassle, did my service at the same time for $100 bucks off☺️. If this deal runs again next year go in-store or call the local phone number to book.

Got 1 more car to replace tyres with in January so hope it goes smooth too

    • Do you follow the tyre service schedule every six months?

      • +1

I guess you meant rotations? Will probably move the two front ones around but not move them to the back as the back ones are low on tread

        • +1

Ur better off moving the lower tread tyres to the front and putting the new ones on the back (assuming they are the same spec tyre). All major tyre manufacturers recommend this when only replacing two tyres.

Otherwise you'll likely encounter nasty and dangerous oversteering in the wet.

        • The service booklet they give you when you change 4 tyres, do they have a schedule that outline you visit their shop once every 6 months? Rotate tyres and possibly wheel alignment.

          • +2

@htc: I got 5 tyres and received no 'service booklet' basically just got a 2-page brochure that says whats on the website. Free rotation/balance every 10,000km/6 months, whichever comes first. Guy said it would all be in the system, same for the $100 off next service.

  • Got asked if I accept continental as they have stock issues. They are $4 more expensive per tyre and seems higher rated with a tougher compound

    • +1

What did you order and what did they offer? Some Continentals are better.
RRP isnt necessarily an indication of whether they are better or not.

      • Pirelli Powergy XL
        Continental Max Contact MC6

I did have Bridgestone XR370s before.

        • +1

Doesnt seem to be any tests for those tyres but i personally wouldnt have any issue with those Conti's.
Conti make good tyres and the Conti SportContact 7 currently tests as the best Ultra high performance tyre.

        • +1

My size the Conti Max Contact MC6 is $12 cheaper than the Pirelli Powergy.

  • +1

i had the most horrible time with mycar never again worst company ever.

    • @zerog101
      As Pauline said, "please explain".

    • +1

Next time if they run this promotion again, go to its competitors to get a price match.

    • +2

      I had a pleasant experience

  • -1

Yeah I think they just took all orders and appointments for tyres without knowing when they would be available. The Mycar store I had the appointment told me after 2 weeks that they had no ETA of the tyres. Looks like they ran this 50% off Pirelli tyres to get publicity with no stocks to begin with and no intention to honour them anyway.

  • +1

When I booked, was told it would take 3 weeks to get the tyres to WA store.

Turned up this morning at mycar and after an hour wait was told Pirelli had sent then 19's instead of 20's. And when they called Pirelli they were told not stock in country.

ETA is 26th of Jan 2023 for tyres.

  • +1

My local received my tyres early and rung to ask if o wanted to bring forward my booking. Which I did . 4 new tyres. Very happy with the local stores service

    • Same here. 500kms in and really happy with the tyres.

      • Have you noticed any fuel saving
        My booking is tomorrow

        • +1

Haven't noticed any difference yet, so far they (Powergy XL) seem on par with the Michelin Primacy LC they replaced.

  • 4 tyres, logbook service, brake light change and air filter (not included in service) , wheel alignment

$760 after $100 amex and $100 off logbook service

Not bad price (considering it includes free 1yr roadside assistance which is probably valued at $100) and great team at bankstown store

They also found a broken engine mount and car needs transmission/gear box fluid flush which they quoted me $700 to do them

  • This is for a Mazda 3 2013 with nearly 120k on odometer

    Is ~ $700 a good price for
    - replacing engine mount $450ish
    - transmission fluid flush and change + filter change $230 ish

Looked at pricing. For transmission will cost about $130 for the parts and fluid , plus maybe a bit more for the tools. For the engine mount, parts are $200+

    • You can buy Penrite full synthetic transmission fluid for $45+ and changing the transmission filter is unnecessary.

      • Is it easy to change though.
And how do you flush the system
Filter probably needs changing after 120000km. Its never been changed or flushed and the fluid is brown

        • The Mazda 3 transmission dip stick is where you use a funnel to pour the new flesh fluid into it. There is a magnetic drain plug at the bottom to drain the transmission fluid. YouTube is you friend. There is a debate whether to do a flush or just change is sufficient but either way you won’t get 100% fluid replaced and I will let you decide which way to go.
Edit: if it has never been changed and is burnt then best don’t flush it. Google is your friend to tell you why.

          • @wtfnodeal:

Edit: if it has never been changed and is burnt then best don’t flush it. Google is your friend to tell you why.

Thats why im contemplating getting a mechanic to do it professionally .

I dont think its burned. Just starting to turn brown rather than golden.

Filter + fluid + tools will cost me $130+
They are charging $230 plus i get warranty on the work done

            • @easternculture: Flesh transmission fluid should be in red colour. Don’t think any mechanic will give you warranty for parts serviced only after skipping several intervals. Where did you last service your car and why didn’t the previous mechanic tell you the transmission fluid change was long overdue?

              • @wtfnodeal: Regularly serviced but recently been doing lots of km (about 500 to 600 weekly). Maybe thats why

Don’t think any mechanic will give you warranty for parts serviced only after skipping several intervals

                https://www.mycar.com.au/offers/guarantees

                • @easternculture: Normal the transmission fluid is due for a change every 50,000km. Sometimes you may be able to leave it until 60,000km if you pull the dip stick and don’t see any colour change from red to dark red or purple. 130,000km is way long overdue and your mechanic has no excuse for not telling you about it. If every time you had a log book service you should go back to them to a make complaint for not checking the transmission fluid as part of the service.

                • @easternculture: That is the parts they supply and install on your car. Say if you auto transmission has failed due to wrong fluid putting into it they will need to take full responsibility under the warranty of their workmanship. But if your auto transmission fails is due to not being serviced at all you have no one to blame even the mechanic is not responsible to revive it due to the excessive wear from lack of protection by the burnt and dirty fluid. If you really think you can take a half broken car to a mechanic for a service and they will give you warranty for those aged and failing parts on your car you are not being realistic.

                  • @wtfnodeal: The transmission has not failed.
They recommended a flush and replace due to color but said i can still drive the car till next service and can be done then

Ill have to check logbook to see when they last changed it

                    • @easternculture: If they really said that, take your car to another mechanic for a 2nd opinion. Some will likely tell you to choose not to replace the fluid at all or just do a change instead of a flush immediately (not to wait until next service)! Have you already done any Google search on what to do with your auto transmission if it has never been serviced for more than 100,000km?

                      • @wtfnodeal: Just had a look at logbook and there is no entry for transmission fluid for regular service lol

Ive messaged a few mobile mechanics and will take to my other regular machanic for a quote for engine mount replacement

                        • @easternculture: Yeah? I know most Toyota cars have a sticker on the dip stick stating the transmission fluid will last for the life of the car. How they determine “life” maybe differently from others, maybe 200,000km? It is up to you and if you don’t plan on keeping the car for that long leave the problem for the next owner to worry about then.

                          • @wtfnodeal: The car is actually very economical at its age and current milage and still in pretty good physical condition. Dont mind keeping it till it hits 200000km

                            I get 500 to 600km per tank

                            • @easternculture: Don’t think it has anything to do with fuel efficiency. When you have the transmission fluid changed you will immediately feel the gears change much smoother than before. Anyway, good luck and hope you get it sorted out soon.

                              • @wtfnodeal: I was referring to this

if you don’t plan on keeping the car for that long leave the problem for the next owner to worry about then

                      • @wtfnodeal: My other mechanic also recommended a flush and quoted me $500 for new engine mount, transmission flush and new coolant overflow tank.

Im just gonna go with that

  • Tyres have been delivered to my local store, both cars booked in 28/01/23 to get new tyres fitted. Managed to get PZ4 rubber for both (225/45R17 & 245/40R19).

  • Just sharing my experience. Went first time on the scheduled install date, then I was told that the rear tyres were not there yet. Rescheduled today and 4 tyres installed. They appeared old stock, made on 34th week of 2021. You get what you paid for I guess.

    • They still dont have the tyres for the second suv.
They agreed to call me back and offer an alternative for same price

      • The same story with me, they don't have the tyres when I call about 3 weeks ago for my booking this Saturday. They agreed to call me back after the tyres in stock but I never get the call from them.

I called again this morning and they confirm that the tyres are on the shop and ready for the fitting this Saturday.

        • They reordered new tyres with 50% discount
Got to choose any brand i wanted

  • +1

Just to share my experience at Windsor MyCar store. It was not good and I won't be a customer of myCar again.

Booked in for 4 Pirelli tyres. I called the day before to confirm that the store had stock (Manufacturer, Model and size), and also confirmed the price, and they kindly said that they would check the order and also check in person whether the tyres were there… and get back to me, which they did.

They also offered for me to come in at 8.00am instead of the scheduled 11.00am booking so that my car would be done first and I could get away as it is school holidays, which I accepted.

Got there at 7:45am and guys started work at 8.00am sharp. All looking good so far; car quickly put on hoist, two wheels removed etc. Then nothing.

An hour later nothing else appeared to have been done to the car and I was then told that they don't have the Pirelli tires in stock!

The counter guy said that he has been on the phone, presumably for the last 45 minutes, trying to contact the MyCar owner/manager to see if they can give approval to put on Continental tyres instead - without asking me first I should point out - but since he couldn't get hold of the manager he told me that they have to get the Pirelli tyres from another store and it would be another 2 hours or so, BUT I can just go and get a coffee somewhere. That's three hours in total assuming that they were accurate in their estimates. I had no reason to trust that their estimate would be close.

I asked what went wrong as they had previously confirmed that the tyres were in stock, to which they replied that the size was in stock but a different brand.

I asked for my car back and that I would return when the tyres arrived, it was likely to be much longer than 2 hours, and I was told an emphatic, "No!" They couldn't put my wheels back on until the job was finished!

So I Uber'd home and they later in the day called to say that the car was ready.

I wasted half a day, and I was lucky. Not happy at all with how I was treated. They just needed to do what they said they did, ie to get out of their office and walk 15 metres to see if the tyres were in stock, and because they didn't do that they wasted 4 hours of my time. How selfish… and what bad service.

To top it off an hour after picking up the car I get an automated email from myCar asking to give a 5 Star Google Review. Really?! You think?!

It's a shame as they had the opportunity to really be impressive, and the were not that busy, there were no cars waiting to have their tyres replaced or serviced. There was no reason for me to get there at 8:00am for a faster service. Other places, eg Costco, replaced the tires in 20 minutes maximum.

    I won't be back again.

    • +1

Hard truth, they couldn't care less, they even asked me to go somewhere else to get price match when the deal was active. It's hard to admit, but 90% of customers go there just to get good price, not good service. They don't fear to loss "picky" customers, also customers won't come back when they are moving anyways. That's how they run their business.

    • +1

Had similar experience with Bankstown store. Called and confirmed stock when i got there they took tires off then said no stock. Waited 1 hr for them to go get from other store nearby.

  • I drop my car at 8:15am today, waited and pickup the car at 9:30am. I also booked the wheel alignment. The tyres profile is 235/45R18 and manufacture date is 09/2022.

It's not impress like my old tyre which was Michelin Pilot Spot 4, but the price is half of the old tyres so I'm happy with it. Will see how the thread and noise on the highway tomorrow.

    • I dropped mine at bankstown 8am, they finished at 11am but that included a log book service

In the 3 hr time, i went to the gym

  • Got mine done yesterday. I noticed some people here mention their tyre manufacture dates and I tried looking up mine but it doesn’t match what it says in the Pirelli website.

Here’s the DOT code if anyone can help: DOT 51 R5 X312.

    • Ah the date number is 4 numbers after that DOT. Mine fit yesterday and the value is 0922 - which’s mean the 9th week of 2022.

  • Got mine done today. DOT is 0321 :-|
    22555R18

So I assume I want be buying anymore in Mycar.
