            • @Zaphod42: No payment up front, just a verbal agreement and booking - pay on fitment. I'm sure they'll honour it.

    • A lot of the issues on the website and their workarounds were covered in the initial thread/post.

You also had the option of going to a mycar store or calling their number to book something in so I'm not sure how it's a scam when a lot of people managed to book in using the offer or workarounds that the ozbargain community provided?

      • They had 3 people manning the phones overnight and no stores were open, so no one knew for sure until all the stores opened up that they would be able to actually get their purchase through the store until well after everyone stayed awake for hours trying to complete their sale.

        • I agree it was poorly executed but that doesn't mean it was a scam. They've also run the deal previously and committed to it so saying it's a scam is probably a bit harsh.

          • @Cho0028: Yeah, I agree (as per my earlier comment below). It was just a hugely mismanaged event.

      • I called 13 13 28 and was on hold for 3 hours so I terminated the call.
Called my local store direct and was on hold for 90 minutes so I terminated the call.
Wasn't able to go to the store because I was at work.
My online experience suggested it could be a scam, hence my question to the forum.
No big deal, I've moved on.

        • Gazza if you put your enail on the waiting list you would have got a notification when you were in the front of the queue to access the website. When there are 3000 people infront of the queue at 7.30 in the morning you know there was always going to be a bit of a wait. In my case it was 3 hours. Thats all i did and it was basically like a normal everyday experience buying things online.

It had Click Frenzy written all over it. They weren't prepared for the continual onslaught of website hits and even with their ridiculous queue in place, the entire promo (while I don't believe was a scam since many were able to get through) was a complete disaster and something I wish to never be part of ever again.

    • -1

What did they say when you visited the local store?

      • +3

        Hi , how's it going !

      • OP: no store near me.

        Me: try Cabra.

    • +1

Not a scam just bad execution (they still haven't learnt yet). I'd be keeping an eye out to see if every second car that is a few years old having shiny Pirellis in the next 2 months.

Calling the store or going in seems to be the way.

    • +1

I think you deserve compensation OP

      • Yeah , wait until next year ….

    • +1

the weather report said it was sunny. it rained. i got SCAMMED

    • Where's the scam in this other than it's just poorly executed…and you could've used Jax as the backup.

    • very limited selection.

    • Not a scam. I know a few people on the Pajero Sport forum I look at that got tyres at amazing prices.

      The website is rubbish.
It's best to go in store and purchase through them (fitment can be at a later date).

Jax will also price match this year.

NB: MyCar won't fit a non-standard size if that is what you want.

      • Is that confirmed? I ordered 265/70/17 for my triton that is meant to have 245/something/16

Are they gonna refuse to fit them when I show up?

        • That's what the dudes on the Pajero Sport forum said but I'd take a chance.

Aren't 265/70r17 on the top of the range Triton? Should be OK.

When I had the 275/65r18 fitted to the PS (up from 265/60r18) the tyre place (tempe tyres) simply had me sign a waiver saying I was aware that I had requested non-standard size tyres which "may interfere with suspension or body components and alter vehicle sensor behaviour".

    • Ah. The old “I’m just asking the question”

  • Any car people around?
Bought a second hand Toyota Aurion, online rego search says it takes 215/60R16. But I have 215/55R17 on the car right now.
    Suggestions?

    • buy what's already on the car

    • I'm guessing you've got the base model Aurion which comes with the 16" wheels.
The previous owner must have upgraded the wheels to 17"
Like ichatting suggested, get the tyre size which are on the car.

    • Check the tyre placard that is usually on the driver side door frame.
It will probably have 2 different sizes which the car came with from factory. You should have one of those sizes and if it is different, they are not the factory supplied sizes and previous owner may have put on a different size.

  • ALL of the stores for ANY Pirelli 195/65R15 shows "Availability: limited" so I can't order book online.

    • Same, so I went into MyCar Northland, spoke to Mike and he got me these tires no issues. Booked for Tuesday. I went in around 2 hours ago.

      • did you mean the coming Tuesday? According to the Black Friday deal T&Cs

"Offer Tyres must be booked to be fitted on a date between Monday 5 December and Saturday 17 December 2022 or between Wednesday 4 January and Tuesday 31 January 2023. If Offer Tyres are fitted outside of these fitment periods, the full cost of all the tyres in the transaction will be payable."

        • Most Mycar stores couldn’t care less about the fitments occur before 5 December but must not be later than a date (I have forgotten) in January. I booked mine for fitment on next Tuesday and the guy just said total for 4 tyres was $428 and payable upon pick up of my car.

        • No idea about this. I've already paid and am set for Tuesday morning, will get a confirmation call Monday.

          • @ShinK0: Did you get the tyres fitted on Tuesday and did you pay the Black Friday price?

            • @foogle: I did pay Black Friday prices and I could've come in to get them fitted last Tuesday. However, the catch is they would be Continentals of equal value OR I wait 3 months for the next shipment of Pirellis.

              • @ShinK0: Dang thats not good. So they pushed out the fitment date by 3 months even though at time of paying they agreed to install Pirellis on Tuesday?

                • @foogle: Isn’t Continental just as good as Pirelli? I mean if they offer me equal value of Continental tyres I will take it instead of waiting for Pirelli tyres.

                  • @wtfnodeal: That's what I'm reading. Still deciding which I'll go with.

                    • @ShinK0: Mycar store which I have booked my car in does not accept payment until the tyres are fitted and 3 months has exceeded my Amex offer period. Yeah if you are not in a hurry waiting for 3 months is even better if your existing tyres will last until then.

                • @foogle: I think it's fine. I was under the assumption after going through the website and over the phone that all Pirellis in that size were sold out, and that they were not allowed to take payment for the next shipment under the Black Friday deal as it would be awhile away.

So when I decided to pop instore and it was accepted, I was surprised but didn't question it. I got the call Monday explaining the situation and well, 3 months is better than full price. Also, the offer of Continentals is great based on what I'm reading online, all in all it worked out well.

                  • @ShinK0: Yea true. If you don’t need them urgently then 3 months is nothing compared to the savings.

  • Hopefully they run an easier sale this time next year

  • I drove to the local branch after the web site screwed me over (can't add to booking) and locked in prices. Installation probably Jan but that's OK. Worth the trouble for 50% off.

  • I'm currently unable to select the amount of tyres i want and put them in my basket. Anyone else had this issue and know a work around?

    • @Eugenekrabs
That's the same issue I had multiple times on multiple devices which made me question whether it was a scam.
      🤔

      • It seems like a large amount of people were fortunate to snag this deal so it isn't a scam. A shit website is the culprit here…

  • I can add tyre to cart but can't select time and date…ugh should've just got Jax to price match it while I was at it.

    • same here.. was trying for a while.. can't pick the time and date.. too late to call the stores too

  • How is Powergy compared to the P7 cinturato (P7c2)

    • As someone who knows nothing about tires I found this page: https://tirewheelguide.com/tires/compare/pirelli-cinturato-p… which seemed to indicate people were much happier with the p7c2. I had the option between the two and went with the p7.

      • -2

If someone knows nothing about tyres, do you think they are going to know the difference. I went with powergy because I can get it done today and cheaper.

        • All I am saying is, you won’t notice the difference or won’t really care about it.

      • Seems like a dodgy comparison. Where did the data come from?

Could be just website just setup for as revenue.

      • Don’t mind the p7c2 but the price difference compared with Powergy for my tyre size is $628 for 4 p7c2 tyres vs $428 for 4 Powergy tyres and that is already discounted by 50%.

  • can't book any dates online or get the $100 logbook discount

    • I couldn't on the normal browser but it worked in incognito/private. Give that a go.

  • Anybody know if the Amex deal is for one minimum purchase of $400 or can be multiple adding to at least $400 to qualify for $100 back?

    • +1

“in one or more transactions”, which suggests multiple transactions is fine.

  • Ozbargained?
I've waited in the queue, but any link or search on the actual website sees no response

    • 5.30pm AEDT, party is over.

  • Got it done and replaced at the shop today. No fuss!

  • Added pirelli tyres into card, but unable to select any date for booking?? Any idea?
Tried different store and same thing

    • It's been like that for a while.

  • Does anyone know if you pay in store can you split payment in 2 AMEXs to get two cashbacks?

    • You can use split payments. I split mine with Flybuys dollars and credit card.

  • +2

So after a long day of smashing my head against the keyboard trying to get this deal. Got home from the pub, put tyres into cart with no wait time, found local store, accepted payment. Confirmation email received. Booking in 2 weeks.

  • Waited for 2 hours and finally got through.
Got a pair of 27535R21 PIRELLI P ZERO PZ4 run flat which would cost me a bomb if I didn't do it now…
    It all pays off.

  • Managed to purchase the tyres without any issues from their website. Worked like a charm. There is no waiting time anymore.

  • The site is clear now. Just added four to basket, booked a time/date, and checked out without fuss.

    • Yeah most of them oos now

  • Ya site looking good and I managed to book for my sister too.

  • Possible to cancel the order if placed for future date and get refund?

    • Oh I have done that, Thats possible. But there is less traffic and the Offer is still there

      • I want to use amex offer. Else $496 for 4 tyres seem expensive for me.

        • +1

It was bargain for me. Pirelli are good tyres and 50% off is something rarely we see after Michelin did few years ago.

          • @pstech: Yea it is a good bargain. They have been doing that for the last 3 years but this year's process was way worse than prior years. Last year I went on website (no queues no fuss), got the tyres I want within 5 mins. This year had to go in-store and 1 set was unavailable so had to get an alternative type of Pirelli

            • +1

@PhillipC: Do you get new tyres every year? That’s a big spending IMO unless it is necessary for you to make a living.

              • +1

@wtfnodeal: Hell no, I am only getting two tyres on a 2nd hand car in which the front ones are almost gone. That's also the reason why I use MyCar because almost every other company requires you to get 4x tyres in order to get some discount.

    • ? You don’t have Amex yet or you booked outside Amex offer period?
Edit: I guessed you paid for the tyres today but have not fitted them yet?

  • +1

Just got off the phone… officially last customer to get this deal :)

    • you can call up midnight?

      • Just before yes

  • Just got a set of tyres for 870 I don't know why the deal was so popular when the tyres were more expensive than other stores.

    I needed them

    • I think the MyCar RRP are around the same as other competitors. E.g. I bought some Scorpions that were RRP as $249, Bob Jane was $245. With the 50% off people can save quite a bit, especially if they need wider, low profile and larger tyres, or high performance tyres etc.

      • $127 I paid, could have got around for 200 at other store. Bob Jane was $249

  • Got 4 good year efficient grip performqnce fitted for 552$. From beaurepaires

    • -1

Yeah but it's Good Year :)

      • Goodyear is not a bad brand though, ranked as a premium brand compared to Diamondback or whatever they're called…

        • yeah I know I've had them before… just saying when you hear Pirelli and Michelin it's premium.. when you hear Goodyear although they say it's premium but it's just average

lol Diamondback lol yeah that's a joke

          • @Poor Ass: I wouldn't compare them. But goodyear is also good brand. Goodyear efficient grip performance were recommended over pirelli powergy.

          • @Poor Ass: Maybe that's just your perception as Goodyear is definitely a premium brand and tests show Goodyear perform better than Pirelli for the more performance orientated models. Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 6 is as good as Michelin Pilot Sport 5 in testing and those are the top 2 tyres in their category. Eagle F1 Supersport also a very good tyre and is rated overall better than Pirelli PZ4 which is Pirelli's top performance tyre for street. Before the Pirelli PZ4 release, the other P Zero's were below par.

I logged in to Mycar account today and found out my order is not there. It showed nothing in my upcoming order, and I noticed that my first name and last name are my email address. I paid via afterpay at 2 am Friday.
