@easternculture: Cheers legend, will load up a $500 and see how I go tomorrow.

    • Where can we buy 2% Coles gift cards?

      • +1

Super swap gift card on Shopback

    • Legend, which gidt card did you buy? Shopback?

    • How do you get around SB only allowing you to superswap 3 cards before stopping you?

  • +3

Bought quite a few today and at one store got told

“Given you’re buying over a $1000 worth, you need to tell me what you’re buying with these” 😂

Told her none of her business but I might use to pay for the bread and milk on the weekend.

She then put the transaction through 😂

    • Well done, Mate

    • +3

I would've said "going on a hooker bender this weekend. They now accept card with a small surcharge"

    • +1

More made-up rules. You should do a written report on this person. That is just being nosey.

    • The nerve of that woman! She has no right to know what vices you're going to blow that dirty money on.

  • Can confirm receives point buying these gc

    • -1

Just be careful that increasing spend on flybuys will recalibrate the 10000 points for $x spend offers.

Sometimes not worth it for a few hundred points

      • I never use offers, but it said 5x.

It's mental that Woolies always has insane offers, and Flybuys as in earn 2000-4000 pts a week but I order 1k of wine with BWS and get nothing! Lol

  • +3

Managed to use the perfect eftpos cards from the woollies 10x points deal the other week to pay for these.

When one failed to activate they also refunded me 257 instead of what I paid, and I managed to get it refunded onto my credit card rather than the prepaid eftpos card.

    • Hopefully not a rewards credit card. You'll wind back your earned points doing that.

      • Paid for the eftpos cards with a higher points earning card plus 10x Woolworth points and have a lot to turnover, the points lost on refund is small in comparison as it's a lower earning card.

        • +1

Debit cards exist exactly for this reason:) Why do you wanna refund to credit cards when you have debit cards.

  • Can anyone tell me how to activate this gift card? I bought some $100 gift cards for the first time. Thank you!

    • +1

      they automatically activate.

you can phone up to check balance.
I bought around 11 am and used at post office around 4 pm after checking they were live around 3 pm.

  • +1

Easy to get today. Just have to ask the service counter

    • Depends on the store.
Got 15 today.. all were on the stands.

  • My local store hides all the 250 behing their service desk. First time too. Lucky I spotted them as they normally just put the cards on the shelves.

    • +1

If you have read through the comments here, you have to go through the service desk to buy the $250 one at some stores now.

  • +3

My local store had a whole batch of 250 and 100 hanging in the usual place. What surprises me is that an hour later, they remained untouched apart from 1 other person taking 5 of the 250s (and then I bought them myself). Might rinse and repeat when I drop by tomorrow - it’s 3 mins walk from my house.

    • -1

Hi bro how do you rinse and repeat this time.

  • QLD Rego, split payment work around?

  • Not too popular this deal it seems. People are under the pump financially these days..

  • Was thinking you can maximise with using HSBC on the $250 cards but break up the payment into partial payments of $100 each time. Anyone tried this? Sounds silly just typing this out!

    • I don't have the thick face to do it. But I tried using to pay myer group gift card that I bought with hiver months ago, and it works!

    • 99 mate. Works

    • Probably HSBC will block the card when you do it after twice within a minute.

      • He could do $100 on HSBC card and the rest on a different one.

  • +2

My local has gone from 2 hooks of the $250's to 8 hooks and plenty of stock tonight, now fully stocked up

  • Has anyone tried the cardception again this time?

    • +2

Not working. Read the previous comments. It's been comprehensively covered.

  • +3

Kudos to Coles this time around tbh.. They've stocked up on a lot more cards than previous occasions. Never seen any cards in the last promos so no need to fight over them.

    • +1

Yep my store had more tonight at 6pm.

    • +1

Now that they've closed the rinse and repeat loophole, there is less interest unless people want to put in liquid cash to buy these which is why it's not too bad with stock levels.

    • My store had run out last night. Came back this morning and I see they've put new stock on the shelves.

  • +2

Yeah, I rang some stores and the ladies all complained.

I think they've asked for huge restocks.

If you get lucky, you could go store to store. I spose it depends what you earn an hour.

It's not free money, or a saving when you spend hours working for the saving.

  • Has anybody been able to buy Powerball tickets with these?

    • Yes

  • my store restocked, tonnes left

lesson learnt, dont need to arrive first thing on a wednesday morning when the deal is active to grab these

    • you didn't mention your store ? :(

      • no they didn't !!

  • +2

To bypass from merchants not accepting split payments online using multiple of $250 cards, does anyone know if this method will work if I was to buy something online that accepts afterpay/latitude as a whole and then use these cards to them off as lump sum?

    • F

  • I imagine this time they sold absolutely huge amount of cards given TV ads and availabilty to stores
Maybe they have done something to prevent hacking

    • We can only hope

    • By selling an absolutely huge amount, your chance of getting hacked is diluted lol. I think that is probably the only thing they have done.

      • no matter how many are sold, the total possible numbers on the card remains the same 510982012111111X ~ 510982012999999Y. cycle through these endlessly and you'll hit the jackpot sooner ir later

        • the cards have to be activated first though right?

          • @impoze: yeah all u need to do is test each number repeatedly until someone puts money into it

        • that's pretty craptastic, how to we get these into something more secure?

i need to pay for some flights but pretty sure no split payments allowed.

          • @TEER3X: Only limited places that do not require CVC/CVV. Otherwise, only one in a thousand chance after the card number is captured.

  • did anyone notice Coles charged GST on this product.. they did on mine, I thought Giftcards are exempt from GST

    • +1

I think the gst is for the activation fee, not for the value of the gift card itself.

      • ok that's explains then,, thanks for the clarification..

  • +1

bought to pay off council rates as my new credit card didnt allow govt spending to accumulate the bonus points. worked a treat

    • I have had several cards that state as well as their CS but when I checked actual statements and info online on the card accounts the points were credited.

  • Say you pay a bill for $190, you have $60 left over.

Basically only way to use that if with someone chafing you aka a human and you letting them know the amount to charge the card?

    • +1

You can spend the remaining on petrol station, supermarket, restaurants …..

    • +1

If you have an Amazon account, you can add the the pre-paid Mastercard as a payment source. Then buy an electronic Amazon e-gift card for the value of your Mastercard balance (you can nominate the value you wish to purchase down to the last cent) with you as the recipient, ensuring the Coles Mastercard is used as the payment source. When you receive the Amazon e-gift card by e-mail, apply to your Amazon account and you have then effectively transferred the balance from your Coles Mastercard to credit on your Amazon account. If you don't have enough Amazon credit to fully pay for a subsequent purchase then the shortfall amount gets charged to your normal payment source e.g. your credit card

      • Don't do that, it is a very bad idea. Amazon proactively flag accounts for security reviews/checks when you use a newly added card to buy expensive items and gift cards. If you do that with multiple $250 cards, you are basically asking for a suspension.
After your account has been suspended, you will need to provide the card's statement with matching address to have it removed. These prepaid cards don't come with statements so you will need to jump through several hoops and waste a lot of time and require quite a bit of luck to have your account reinstated.
In short, just don't do it. It's not worth the hassle at all.

        • @truetypezk - Adelv is looking at using $60 - one card. So not sure why you're talking about multiple $250 cards, account suspension etc when original post and my comment are both about using unspent balances. A bit dramatic!

If it was multiple $250 I would have warned him to expect a call from Amazon to check whether it was legit. That's all they did with me last year when I added $1,000 to my account via this method (4x$250). Then I got another call when I added another 2 cards the following day and a further 2 the day after that. So $2,000 added via 8 cards in 3 days. No suspension, no request for additional info just 2 calls to confirm that I was doing it.

I would add though that I am a long term, regular customer on Amazon. I might have attracted more attention and possibly action if I was a new user.

In addition to these, so far this year I've added another 7 cards to clear balances ranging from $15.14 to $75.60 all without question…. let alone suspension. Unless already being monitored for suspicious activity, I have little doubt that Adelv would be able to do what I outlined without any issues for a paltry $60 x 1 card. YMMV but if only for $60, I very much doubt it.

Woolworths and Coles is the best, self serve check out, payment select Mix payment, select Card, enter desire leftover amount, for my case would be few cards, $0.67, $6.43, $1,87, and $0.98 and remaining pay with your credit card. Best way to spend the reminder for any prepaid credit card.

  • Do you get glassware credits for buying these?

  • These cards are already activated right?

I can use online, or over the phone?

I think I read if you wanna use in person, you have to sign if no pin? Or you gotta set a pin somewhere?

    • +1

Yes, activated automatically but may not be immediate. These have a pin it's the Vanilla ones that do not.

  • Coles carinbah have a few $250 and $100 left.
Left you guys a few .

Can confirm coles gift and egift worked again

Walking out with $1400 worth as i type this ready for gift card inception tomorrow lol

    • you paid with coles gift cards?

      • Yep.
        2 x physical coles myer
        2 x digital coles supermarket

Physical coles myer are the ones i bought through amex deal at 20% off via amex a few years back

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/501930

        • But now you've used your Coles Myer, how you gonna inception the current $250 cards?

          • @lilkid28: Buy more superswap with coles mastercard and repeat

            • @easternculture: How are you getting around the limit Shopback puts on payment methods? Do you have multiple Shopback accounts?

              • +1

@capslock: The bigger issue is getting someone to agree to let you pay using giftcards, not sourcing the giftcards themselves.

                • @Xishnik: I haven't had an issue with the staff but I don't split payment and I don't use the same staff member more than once during their shift. It does mean my turnover is quite low but that's ok.

              • +2

                @capslock: Family accounts

  • Need to pay for a jetstar flight, i think 9 cards in total.. Is there a way to get jetstar gift cards with these mastercards?

    • +1

Shopback. But you'll need multiple Shopback accounts to get 9 at the same time.

      • Legend, only needed one more in the end, got most of them from prezee until they locked my account for a day

        • not even letting me use the Jetstar gift cards for my booking, stupid POS company (Jetstar). Only option available is for Jetstar Voucher. It's because it's an international flight, but it's still on the Jetstar AU website.

    • +3

What are you doing here on ozbargain wating your time? Thats pretty stupid too

      • -1

Multitasking. Why would using ozbargain be a waste of time? Good forum threads and lots of referral credits over the years, plus a lot of savings on things i actually need.

I was specifically talking about the Gift cards here.

    • +1

$18 is not worth the time, but 20x$18 if you can get them?

      • -1

Still not worth it for the mucking around. Just shop smarter or activate the flybuys point bonuses when they come up. Alternatively get a woolies product (insurance, mobile deal, whatever) and get 10% off a single shop each month.

        • +5

Someone throw this guy a bone

        • +3

You shop smarter by buying these in the first place, then spending (effectively stacking) them with discounts

          This is basically free money

    • +1

Seems you didnt get the concept of discounted giftcard. Its a savings from the usual price of giftcard. But if you are doing more than that ie gaming the system and then complain that 18$ is stupid and more than the cost of your precious time??? Is ozbargain forcing you to save 18$?

      • -2

It's not worth the hassle, it's as simple as that IMO. You have to keep the cards on you, not lose them, keep track of how much is spent on each card… on and on it goes. No thanks. Make it a 25% discount, after the fee, then I'll consider it.

If you read through the thread here, people are ragging on it for other completely valid reasons, so just another several nails in the coffin.

        • +3

You cant just vote neg on feelings or whether you personally are going to take up the offer
There has to be something actually wrong with the merchant or deal or a better deal going.
