          Also had bookings denied perks for being booked through third parties, but I was still put on an Elite floor with a business conference centre and function room that had all-day continental pastries, snacks and drinks, and complimentary wine tastings in the evenings. So you win some, you lose(?) some.

            @wavesgreen: I've done 50 nights YTD as a Diamond Royal Ambassador. I can tell you they're tightening up on the perks somewhat.
            Third party sites unlikely to be qualifying stays. Traditional travel agents ok to us though.

              @RD ADL: Wow, Royal Ambassador! How many years as an ambassador did it take for you get the invite? I'm thinking about getting Ambassador (using the current deal where you 20k points back with a stay), but I wonder if its useful if I already have Diamond Elite

                @ninjalot: Royal Ambassador qualification isn’t actually published. You have to exceed well over either 70 nights and 120k points and then hope.
                Royal Ambassador is I’m told the top 1% of IHG loyalty.

                  @RD ADL: Double room upgrades and $60 on the mini bar nice one! Thanks for the heads up about emailing them for the upgrade. I rang IHG and booked a room in Bali through them and am now awaiting a call back regarding the upgrade.

      Club Lounge benefits normally only apply to the member and one guest.
      One kid they let through but more and you might see a charge.

      An update: they may do a match. I am gold Hilton currently and they emailed to say that since I am gold, there is no need to match IHG diamond. I took that as Hilton gold is equivalent to IHG diamond

    Any idea if points are determined at the time of booking or at the time of checking in? I booked while at platinum elite (60% of points) but obviously with this I get 100% - would I need to rebook or should automatically change to 100%?

      Looks like at check-in - I was a No-Status Steve yesterday and have a one night booking in a few weeks which was showing I would earn ~2k points. Now as a Diamond-Elite Dennis today, it is showing I will earn the extra 2k bonus points as well.

    Didnt register mine as have 70000 odd points which might be a pain to get back but did register for my wife. Existing account and worked straight away.

    There is a website called status matcher so going to try to Radisson based on reports there

    Already had Platinum through to December 2023. Unlikely to make the 10 night requirement but hopefully I get sent back to Platinum at the end of the introductory period without having to make any phone calls!

    Is this only beneficial if you plan to stay at one of their hotels in 2022, and/or useful for those travelling in 2023 if you stay 10 nights in one of their hotels in 2022?

    I plan not to travel in the remainder of 2022. Does that mean this is of no use to me?

    I'm currently IHG Platinum from the status match deal in May. Wondering if I should try to use this.

    I'm actually in the middle of a 4 night staying in an IHG property right now and have another 5 nights booked next week so if both of these stays count, I could pretty easily hit 10 nights for 2023 extension.

        Work travel so it's company plastic getting the workout.

        We normally stay in an IHG property in Perth and after the Platinum deal I just started picking the IHG hotels in other cities too.

        You can always stack your IHG Membership via Booking/Trivago to get a cheaper rate per night and then begin to grow your rewards.

        HolidayInn Express etc can be a cheaper alternative to stick with IHG before spending it big per night on there higher end properties.

      Status match with other chains (like Hilton) usually requires evidence of a recent stay. I imagine to avoid situations like this.
