you will be a foreign resident without even needing a ITIN and paying off US Amex is super simple, Revolut and Wise would easily do it.

For me, still better transfer to US MRP and then covert to Krisflyer. 150k AU MRP would end up being around 100k SQ Points this way.

Correct but you don't have to meet the $30k/$60k (silver/gold) spending criteria to retain gold in the 2nd calendar year.
