Heads up - I posted this deal earlier this morning and the comments said you can’t stack it with the bonus trade in voucher

  • +2

Trade in "Cannot be used in conjunction with any other coupon.Offer ends 12 August 2022"

  • Harvey Norman is giving $150 store voucher if you pre-order. 750-150 = total cost $600

The people of ozbargain have a deep grudge against them hahaha… will add to description

      • +5

Combine it with the 10% off JB HiFi Ultimate GC = $606.60.

I would say that it's a better deal because you can get the exact GC amount down to the cent and you won't have to find $150 worth of stuff from HN to buy.

        • Oh shiiit..I didn't see this.
I still get another 5% off with reward gateway GC anyway

        • +1

Yes I've just done this now. Stoked

          • @gdogdiggity: hey, I just did this too with the Ultimate GC. But instead of giving me an 18 card number digit (which is what we need to put when checking out at JB Hi-Fi), they only gave me a 16 digit card number. Did this happen to you too? What did you do? May you please kindly help?

            • @21bananas: You need 16 digits for a credit card purchase, and that's what I got on my voucher, so there was no issue. Try again with the 16 digits and the CVV!

Your maths are wrong. Total cost is $750 + additional $150 item(s) free

How does the 6a differ from the 6?

  • +2

the 6a has big problem with the finger print. Say if you register only your right thumb, the phone would unlock itself if you use your left thumb. Ive seen some videos about this problem.
Big messed up from Google. I had a pixel 6 and I was looking to buy the 6a because of "better finger print" claim

The Telstra deal does not require a plan associated with it. You can buy the phone outright for $649

    • According to Lifehacker 1987 : If you already have a service with us, you can buy outright without adding a plan.

      • You can, but they ask you to agree to credit check, which is stupid.. because I am not changing plan or paying in installment.

The social media people (i sent them a DM ) said this is the rule and said not their job to explain why.
The online chat customer service people said
" I can certainly help you with buying Pixel 6A. While I am working on your enquiry, I would love to discuss this further on how you can get the most out of your Telstra services after we've resolved your concern. I understand your situation. An update in August 2019 was made in line with telecommunications consumer protection, it is to ensure that the products and services being offered to all consumer suits them, a credit assessment needs to be done for us to proceed with your request. Note that all information you'll provide will be kept with confidentiality." and after I explained myself again she said
"I already reported this so that we can check why its asking for credit check for outright purchase ) and will get back to me

And then i got transferred (online chat) around and some guy asked me to do troubleshooting and said

"I really can sense your situation. But upon checking with my resources, while placing orders with Telstra every time these details needs to be updated with the order. If not the order cannot be placed. If you would like to get more details on it please you can visit the store."

And things just got worse and worse and people are just giving me copy pasta answers and obvious to me that they didn't read carefully before replying.
I was so dumbfounded that why am I paying the price for a premium service to endure that?

Anyway, i am going to use vaya or something instead.

Keep in mind that the 6a reportedly has a broken finger print reader. Probably a quick software fix from Google - but since it's so new, and no info from google yet - worth pointing out..

  • How does this compare with s21? S21FE?

    • +1

S21 is flagship, s21 FE is midrange. This phone is midrange. The s21 is better phone of the three.

  • Oh i thought 6a is better spec than 6 as its just recently realesed/latest but then not really, hence the rrp cheaper

    • 6 is way better just same processor as 6a

  • I paid $640.4 all up.
I paid 640.3 for 674 worth of gift card via Reward Gateway and pay $0.1 by Paypal

    • Can JB Hifi split payment?

      • Yeah, if your giftcard can't pay for it all, you add credit card or paypal to pay for the rest.

  • Shame it can't be combined with trade in or the $20 perks coupon. That'd make for a great deal.

Still tempted with the discount gift cards, and I get to keep my pixel 4a as backup still. Hmmmm decisions decisions…

  • +1

I successfully put this through with the 10% Giftz card just now. What a process, but brought price down to $606 so worth it!

  • +1

Checked this phone in JB store today. it looks narrow and tall like 6 and 6pro but slimmer camera bump , looks like google is not going to go back to previous dimensions, I hate on screen finger scanner, but price is very tempting. How about 5a ? is it still worth for $564 on Kogan.

    • Pixel 5a was never sold in AU. So the one from Kogan will most probably be the Japanese model. It has some hardware quirks ( camera shutter button sound cannot be muted etc ) which cannot be resolved by firmware flashing. There would also be no local warranty with Google AU. Dealing with Kogan is nothing short of a nightmare. I dont know the exact software update promise in terms of years ( but it would be lower than that for the 6A )

If you can deal with all of the above - it is still a fantastic device with great battery life and same camera/s :)

Pulled the trigger at $606 after discount gift cards, happier with this over the trade in option. Thanks OP, great outcome

    • Darn, I'd be happy with this price as $679 is a bit much for me as my original budget was $500. I stretched it to $600, but $679 is still closer to $700. I would have been real happy with a trade in, but don't have anything to trade in. What gift cards did you use?
