Due to the significant change in currency exchange rates, prices are now around 50% lower than last year. I've done the currency conversions from Turkish Lira to Australian Dollars and the percentage of savings so you don't have to :)

I remember doing this on an iPhone a few months back (as I don't have an android). So I'm guessing the device does not matter. I just resubscribed today to a new plan, on a PC. So here's my experience, and it took literally minutes.

Step 1: Change your Google payment profile to Turkey. If needed, use a fake address simulator like this one

Step 2: VPN (fly) to Turkey using the deal link above (I used the free Windscribe Chrome extension; although it was a bit tricky since Windscribe kept connecting me to random Turkey locations - in this case just disconnect and reconnect until you land on Istanbul or something, or use a different VPN. Nord VPN does not work). if the currency is shown in Turkish Lira, you've hit the jackpot

Step 3: Subscribe to the plan of your choice. Use a credit/debit card (preferedly with no international fees)

Step 4: Fly back home

    • I just did some testing and it looks like you can share your Google One with family members - IT'S POSSIBLE! The only catch is you have to add the family members / accounts into the family first, before taking one of the accounts and subscribing through this deal.   2. For those who currently have Youtube Premium from Argentina, and want to sign up to this deal on top on the Google account - IT'S POSSIBLE, simply create a new payment profile for Turkey

    • If pricing initially shows Turkish but switches back to AUD, try this method: You might see the 3 columns show Australian pricing, but select the 2tb and go to next screen and check it changes to TRY currency. if this doesn't work, then I think you have to delete the Australian payment profile. You can always make a new one after, but be aware that deleting your Australian profile will destroy all your Google Play Credits
    • You can create a new payment profile by following these steps by alcheron: go to https://pay.google.com/gp/w/u/0/home/settings and clicking the pen icon next to "Country/Region" and a link to create a new profile should pop up. You can then add details for the Turkish profile.

EDIT 12:00 PM: You need to turn on family sharing after signing up to this plan to actually share the storage. To do this, go to the Google One site and click on the Gear settings icon (alternatively click on this link, then go to "Manage Family Settings" and toggle it on. This step assumes you've sared it with other members before signing up to this plan, as you cannot add family members anymore after if their account locations are not in the same country


Please note the process can be easy for some people, harder for others, or may not work at all. Copying some notes from @bargainsgrabber

  • There is no need for aggression in instances where you are unable to subscribe to an international Netflix account. Share your experience so everyone can chip in and help out. There are plenty of examples where hacks shared on this platform do not work for some people, but may work for others:
    • Modem reset for faster internet,

    It will revert back to its original yearly subscription and you wil lbe tied up on paying the normal price as you already uploaded your data

      I believe it'll just continue renewing with the same payment method. Prices might change however due to exchange/currency rates

  • One thing ive noticed after signing up with the turkey payment method is that my playstore apps and google search results are showing turkey based content/currency. I had to remove my original AUS payment profile but re-added it after successfully signing up, also made sure its set to active.
    Top playstore apps show a range of Turkey based apps and if I search a product on google, it shows embedded "Shopping" links on the result page that are in TRY.
    Anyone know a way to fix this?

    • Nope. This can't be switched back for 12 months. But you can try talking to google support to see if they can do this for you.

    • This would happen to me all the time when I used to jump between AUD & USD on the play store. You need to delete all your billing information and then go to the party store and pretend to purchase a paid app and get it to load up your Australian billing profile. After that close play store and you should see things back as Australian.

      I believe there is another billing screen separate to the one you're on somewhere unless it has been deleted in their various website updates.

    • Yeah this annoyed me too. It applies across the family too, if the family manager is set to Turkey. Hence my comment [here[(https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/12371062/redir).

      I ended up deleting the Turkish profile (since the subscription stays valid until the expiry date, even if the payment profile is deleted).

  • I still can't get it to work.

    I created a brand new account, added to my main accounts family.

    On the new accounted added a TR payment profile, it just shows AUD pricing (when I look at IP it says Istanbul), I press purchase but next screen stays in AUD, if I log out it shows TRY pricing (or sometimes CYZ), I've tried pressing purchase and it makes me sign in and once I sign in it goes back to AUD and when proceeding to buy it stays in AUD.

    I've also tried adding another country payment profile then deleting it so it falls back to the TR profile but that doesn't work either.

    Tried via PIA and Windscribe.

    I just can't get this to work.

      This will lock it to Australia. You want to be doing this on the main account for the family, it's a lot of hassle.

        Ended up giving up and getting rid of the AUD profile on my main account ; then logging in with my account that had the TRK profile setup and then could purchase.

        I couldn't add my card back into my AUD profile originally, but now I'm on another computer now it's been added.

        Need to workout what to do with the other account as it still has my card in it.

      • I created a new profile, bought storage, invited a family member but when a family member clicks "accept invitation" invitation (while VPN is set to Turkey), the following message pops up "Can't Join Family Group It looks like you're not in the same country as the person who invited you."
        Is there a workaround without changing address/payment profile of another family member?
        Or perhaps, is it possible to change my address/payment profile back to AU straightaway and then invite family members?

    PS. Do i need to set it as parent?

    • If you need a refund live chat with them and say you want a refund since you changed your mind etc

    Still can't make it work:
    * Created a dummy account
    * Added it to my family where my main account is the manager and is also used for YT Argentina subscription
    * Used VPN (both Nord and Windscribe in an incognito window) to change the location to Turkey in the payment and subscriptions menu
    * On and without VPN (both Nord and Windscribe) accessed Google One, the prices were showing in AUD
    * Still clicked on the 2TB plan and…. received an error message - "Something went wrong on our end. Please try again."

    Tried both on my phone and PC. The same result. The message just keeps popping up every time. Any thoughts?

    N.B.: There are 4 other accounts in my family with AU profiles.

        • The prices always show in AUD on the "select plan" screen for me (I spent half an hour trying different VPN solutions to refresh that page, with no luck). Then I tried to select a plan, hopelessly, and the next screen showed me "TRY 28.99" (I needed to search for what TRY meant) :-)

          • @Averell: Yeah I selected a plan even though it was showing AUD but it throws an error saying something went wrong on their end

  • What can you do if you already have a yearly subscription running, doesn't appear that you can cancel early, convert to monthly or change it to Turkey $$ if you try to upgrade

  • I think you need to delete your AU Profile then create a turkish profile. My problem before was i coulsnt add my wife acc to the family. After few workaround i deleted her payment profile made same as my profile and it works.

    Also, google doesnt do refund. They will ask you to use.

    • They do refund. Others here also gotten refunds. Just come up with a stupid excuse like you need to rethink or something. If they refuse, hop to a different live chat, but everytime they've honoured my request and sent a follow up email about it :)

    I have made a dummy account joined my Australian family. Setup a payment profile for turkey.
    Turn on widnscribe vpn
    Go onto Google one and upgrade storage. Click yearly 2tb go to pay but shows the same Aud pricing. Disconnect vpn then reconnect multiple times and still same. Aud.
    What else am I missing here?

  • Assuming someone can get M365 Family on HUP, what's the appeal of GDrive? We'll get 6TB at cheaper price than the 5TB in this deal. I am not trying to neg the deal, was a genuine question.

      The short answer would probably be Google Photos. And also with M365 Family you only get 1TB per family member (up to 6). I don't think the 6TB can be shared between family members.

  • so if you delete your AU profile, which has various subscriptions attached, what happens to them? do they just end or are they separate to the payment options.

    I've done the same as Others here and created a Turkish profile and switched to it in account settings. Using vpn etc and can see value in Lira but as soon as i sign in with google account it switched back to AUD pricing.

  • Soooo i deleted my Youtube premium Argentina payment profile so i could get this. Now i have this subscribed i cant seem to recreate any profiles with my Revolut card?
    I have deleted all payment profiles thinking i could recreate one for Turkey and one for Argentina.

    • Similar happened to me. The credit card was working fine at first, but I think I deleted and recreated profiles too many times.
      After awhile it stopped working. Had to change to a different card

    I received an email from Google saying they have suspended my account due to suspicious activities. That was a dummy account and it has 1 profile for Argentina youtube premium and 1 profile for Turkey Google One and VSCO X subscription. The Turkish profile is the one that got suspended, I've deleted it and create a new Turkish profile but I cannot resubscribe to Google One and VSCO again. Guess I'll have to figure it out again in a year time.

  • Followed all the instructions but still getting error "Something went wrong on our end. Please try again." This is only happening because email id has been added in Family account before google one signup. It is showing currency in AUD as well. Anyone had success recently setting this up?

            @edrift: yeah. No problem making a purchase using VPN set to Turkey as you will see TRY prices.
            But when account is added in family group with other Aus payment profiles, google identifies it and keep showing you AUD prices and wont allow you to make purchase even.

  • What’s the pricing on Google one in Argentina?
    I caught a plane to Argentina via my VPN and saw it’s in USD. From what I can see it $9.90 USD per month for 2TB. No prices listed in ARS.

    My YouTube premium is in Argentina, I see others mentioning they have it mixed with payment profiles in Turkey.

    I’m mainly wanting it for cloud backup for my NAS. Maybe I make a new Turkey account.

    • I couldn’t find argentina last time too, I think they use USD currency for Google One. Different to Youtube which uses ARS

    my subscription was about to expire so good timing for this deal. this is what worked for me:

    1) cancelled my current subscription (about to expire on July 24)
    2) unshare my subscription from family
    3) created a turkey payment profile, added multicurrency payment card
    4) closed aud payment profile
    5) renewed my subscription, but now in turkish lira
    6) shared my subscription to family
    7) opened another payment profile for aud

      • i had about 155gb used in my 2tb storage. i did not lose anything above the original 15gb google gives away. I do, however have a fair bit before my renewal (July 24) so not sure if its because of that. some here have said that you might lose the ability to upload (since its already full) if you do not have an active subscription and your usage is over the free allocation

    • It's so wierd that it works for some people and doesn't work for other.
      I also created a turkey profile, I didn't create family profile, paid for the subscription. But when I tried to share subscription with the other family members, they were denied as they have AU profile.
      Someone posted that you need to share with your family before flying to TRY and before paying for the subscription.
      I have now cancelled my subscription. Perhaps will try to do it differently than before.

  • Ok so for those who have existing memberships this is what I did. I did this the long way and hoping you can learn from my mistakes. After trying to do this over a few hours lol.

    1) cancel the existing plan
    2) remove all members (nothing was deleted as my plan had a few days/week left)
    3) setup payment profile for turkey on a junk Gmail login
    4) create a family group and invite all the members to join the new group
    5) sign up for Google one (I did it monthly first to test)
    6) but then when I went to accept the invitation, I couldn't even if I added another country/payment profile to the other logins (this is where I went wrong and should have accepted the invitations before I created the profile)
    7) went back in created and aust profile and deleted the turkey profile thus cancelling the Google one sub after one month
    8) got all members to accept all the memberships
    9) went back into the payment profile and added a turkey profile and deleted the Aust profile
    10) signed up for the Google One 1 year membership which is scheduled to start after the 1mth finishes

    • I only have a turkey payment for the dummy email that I added to my current family. But I cannot purchase subscription. First of all it shows aud. But even when I click on it to see if it actually stays in aud its say error something went wrong on our end.

          I have YouTube premium subscription with my Argentina payment profile
          And google one storage with my turkey payment profile

          You need to have sharing set up FIRST before subscribing to google one
          read through the rest of the thread to make sure you’re setting it up correctly

        • Quite a few in this deal have the Arg YT premium + Turkey Google One setup now ( me included).

          As the others have pointed out, having the family structure set up and sharing on Arg YT premium before setting up Turk Google One is the key i think.

            When I go to purchase subscription error something went wrong on our end please try again.

  • Can the main account be a generic Gmail account and then add a mix of generic Gmail account and GSuite Legacy accounts as family members? I am not sure if "You can't join a family with a Google Account from your work, school, or other organization." means that we can't use Google account that uses our own domain name.

    • Just tried it and it doesn't seem that I can create a Family using Google Workspace Free (aka GSuite Legacy) email account. All my family members are already using Google Workspace Free. What's my option here?
