Google One Storage Monthly/Yearly 100GB (A$0.50/$5.02) 200GB (A$1.00/$10.04) 2TB (A$2.51/$25.11) @ Google Turkey (VPN Required)

7420

Reposting this deal from 2021, credits to the original poster @Pricebeat and @neo479

Due to the significant change in currency exchange rates, prices are now around 50% lower than last year. I've done the currency conversions from Turkish Lira to Australian Dollars and the percentage of savings so you don't have to :)

Storage Monthly Cost (% Savings) Yearly Cost (% Savings)
100 GB AUD $0.50 (80% off AUD RRP) AUD $5.02 (80% off AUD RRP)
200 GB AUD $1.00 (77% off AUD RRP) AUD $10.04 (77% off AUD RRP)
2 TB AUD $2.51 (80% off AUD RRP) AUD $25.11 (80% off AUD RRP)
5 TB AUD $12.58 AUD $125.78
10 TB AUD $25.15 N/A
20 TB AUD $50.30 N/A
30 TB AUD $75.45 N/A

I remember doing this on an iPhone a few months back (as I don't have an android). So I'm guessing the device does not matter. I just resubscribed today to a new plan, on a PC. So here's my experience, and it took literally minutes.

Step 1: Change your Google payment profile to Turkey. If needed, use a fake address simulator like this one

Step 2: VPN (fly) to Turkey using the deal link above (I used the free Windscribe Chrome extension; although it was a bit tricky since Windscribe kept connecting me to random Turkey locations - in this case just disconnect and reconnect until you land on Istanbul or something, or use a different VPN. Nord VPN does not work). if the currency is shown in Turkish Lira, you've hit the jackpot

Step 3: Subscribe to the plan of your choice. Use a credit/debit card (preferedly with no international fees)

Step 4: Fly back home

EDIT 2:27 AM: After serious testing I've found the following:

  1. Regards to AussieMark's comment here

    • I just did some testing and it looks like you can share your Google One with family members - IT'S POSSIBLE! The only catch is you have to add the family members / accounts into the family first, before taking one of the accounts and subscribing through this deal. TO ADD FAMILY MEMBERS GO TO https://families.google.com/families

  2. For those who currently have Youtube Premium from Argentina, and want to sign up to this deal on top on the Google account - IT'S POSSIBLE, simply create a new payment profile for Turkey

    • If pricing initially shows Turkish but switches back to AUD, try this method: You might see the 3 columns show Australian pricing, but select the 2tb and go to next screen and check it changes to TRY currency. if this doesn't work, then I think you have to delete the Australian payment profile. You can always make a new one after, but be aware that deleting your Australian profile will destroy all your Google Play Credits
    • You can create a new payment profile by following these steps by alcheron: go to https://pay.google.com/gp/w/u/0/home/settings and clicking the pen icon next to "Country/Region" and a link to create a new profile should pop up. You can then add details for the Turkish profile.

Hope this helps!

EDIT 12:00 PM: You need to turn on family sharing after signing up to this plan to actually share the storage. To do this, go to the Google One site and click on the Gear settings icon (alternatively click on this link, then go to "Manage Family Settings" and toggle it on. This step assumes you've sared it with other members before signing up to this plan, as you cannot add family members anymore after if their account locations are not in the same country

Please note the process can be easy for some people, harder for others, or may not work at all. Copying some notes from @bargainsgrabber

  • There is no need for aggression in instances where you are unable to subscribe to an international Netflix account. Share your experience so everyone can chip in and help out. There are plenty of examples where hacks shared on this platform do not work for some people, but may work for others:
    • Modem reset for faster internet,
    • Cash back program purchase tracking,
    • Price matching an unobtainable deal or price error,
    • Targeted bargains, and
    • Limited quantity items quickly or instant (bot) sellout.
  • Similarly we know there are cash back users who follow every single step for cash back (turn off ad blocker, have no items in cart, do not click other links, etc.) on their purchases and it does not work, its probably best to move on.There are many users who successfully use this hack and enjoy paying half the price of the Australian membership. Unfortunately there are also many users who have been unable to sign up to Netflix Turkey or Argentina. After all it is intended for people who reside in Turkey or Argentina. If it does not work, I am not affiliated with any of the entities listed below or linked to and cannot guarantee any outcome. I can only read comments on this platform and others to share them with you. Your patience is appreciated. Please do not take it personally.

  • Does anyone know if this works if you create multiple profiles with the same card

Ie - have one for Argentina, one for turkey?

    Using the same google account

    • Mine are same card, diff profiles.

      Arg for YouTube premium
      Turkey for this Google one
Turkey on a diff account but part of this family for Disney +

      lol

  • I wish I could get this to work but I just don't see a way. Currently my main account has a grandfathered YouTube Premium family subscription that's shared with 5 other people, which means I can't risk deleting my Australian payment profile and potentially lose the subscription. It also means I can't make a dummy account and share it, because the current family is full and I can't have my main account be in two families at once :/

    • I have Youtube premium family (Argentina sub) and Google One (Turkey sub) on the same account

      • then I don’t know what’s going wrong because no matter what I try (other than deleting the Australian profile) it won’t serve me the Turkish prices (other than when I’m signed out/in incognito mode)

        • according to earlier comments if you delete a payment profile you still keep current subs, and you can always add the Aus profile back later by creating a new one

  • +2

Did this and account was disabled after a month. Gonna try again without linking it to my main, as well as set up 2FA on it as it kept asking for my phone number (which is obviously Australian). Might have to use a turkey VPN all the time to access

So yes, your account can be disabled for doing this

    • +1

And forgot to mention but my main account was untouched. Can still access the 2TB (from the main) I bought on the alt, too. I guess if you pay for a year's worth you can still use your 2TB on main even if the Turkey account is termed

    • How was it disabled?

      • +1

When I try to sign in I get a message telling me it's been disabled because of suspected breaching of terms of service in coordination with several other accounts.

Get an option to download my data and an option to appeal it.

        • Interesting… So just one account in the family that's disabled?

        • When I try to sign in I get a message telling me it's been disabled because of suspected breaching of terms of service in coordination with several other accounts.

Did it say what terms were breached? Do you have any files of questionable origin stored in your drive?

          • @eug:

Do you have any files of questionable origin stored in your drive?

Are they even legally allowed to see your files? Or do they have a bot or something? Talking about privacy…

          • @eug: All my personal files were encrypted in cryptomator, and my other stuff (which was just old Linux ISOs) were just in zip files with a password titled "password" so they couldn't be automatically scanned by Google.

I know it's possible to see the file names inside an encrypted zip file, but there wasn't anything on there that should've got me termed

            • @GhatT: Sounds like it's worth appealing then? Hopefully they can tell you what happened at least.

              • +1

@eug: Well technically this exploit is against their ToS, so I wasn't going to bother. Just going to make another one and take proper precautions instead of presuming Google doesn't care in the slightest

  • Any idea if it works on an existing GSuite legacy account?

  • +1

Don't get caught on AUD prices if its showing it. Go to next step and see if its in TRY currency. Finally got mine working, on a spare account thats setup to share with my main.

  • +1

Set up a burner account in Turkey with turkish address. Couldn't see any link from the burner account for my primary to join it's family group, so instead I made a family group on my primary and invited the burner.
That burner account "cannot join the family group as you're not in the same country as the person who invited you".

I'm not sure how anyone got around this, but it's the final nail in a very convoluted coffin for me.

  • For those that haven't been able to get it to work, do you have Google play credit on your account? I'm wondering if that's a common denominator for those who can't get it to work.

  • Gonna see if I can figure this out for my scenario:

    • Have four existing payment profiles (SG, TR - I think I created this a while ago when I first tried subscribing to TR Google One, AU, Argentina)
    • Existing Family group subscribed to Argentina YT Premium
    • Existing Google One subscription in SGD (Singapore)
    • Do not intend to share Google One storage with family group
    • Don't mind deleting payment profile but ideally not the Argentinian one so as to not disrupt YT Premium - not so fussed about deleting the SG and AU payment profile

Any tips before I try this out?

    • Just an FYI, Argentinian YT Premium is going up next month and Turkish YT Premium seems to be a good balance of cheap/easy to get. So you might end up not needing the ARG profile.

  • keep getting Something went wrong on our end. Please try again.

It's something to do Payment Profile, don't know how to resolve it though.
If I deleted the payment profile, it went through where I could see the payment in Turkey currency but cannot add credit card from there, even though it's in the drop down (nothing happened). Another method in the drop down is to use gift card/voucher.. i wonder if I can just buy ~$AU25 and pay using that..
Once I re-added turkey payment method, it got the error again.

Similarly when I went to Google Play, under payment, it could not get payment method with the same error message.

I wonder if there is a trick to adding Turkey payment profile correctly.. ?

  • Wondering if anyone can help - getting google one pricing in TRY however when going through with account getting this error message: Your transaction can't be completed. To continue this transaction, secure your account. Learn more about securing accounts"

    Any tips?

    • Hi mate, i have same issue like yours did you solve it?

      • I had this same issue. Turning off VPN before paying seemed to fix it.

  • +4

Well this took a while to get working but I finally solved it by deleting my Australian profile.

    • Already have YT Premium (India) and share it with my OzB family - so family solved
    • Created a new Turkish payment profile with Turkish address and my westpac debit card
    • Flew to Turkey and they still wanted to charge me AUD
    • Deleted Australian payment profile
    • Turkey prices now appear and I am able to pay
    • Flew home and created Australian account again
    • Shared storage with family

Not sure if anyone has mentioned, but you share the storage with your family after they use their initial free 15gb.

So if you buy 1TB and have 6 people in your family, one member could potentially upload 1TB of crap and use all of it up.
The family manager can see who has used what storage amount though.

    • Hey, thanks so much for sharing. Questions:

      • Why did you need to recreate an Australian payment profile?
      • Are you not able to choose not to share Google One storage with the family? I thought you could configure that
      • +1

Why did you need to recreate an Australian payment profile?

Mainly for continuity - I've only ever used it for Google Play purchases though. I could easily live without it

Are you not able to choose not to share Google One storage with the family?

By default it's turned off but I chose to turn it on as a treat for my OzB family because I only need ~20gb. If the family want more than 100gb split 6 ways then I'll get a bigger plan and we'll split the cost.

        • I see. But after deleting your old AU Google Play, I'd assume your Google Play purchases might've been deleted along with the deletion of that profile and recreating it wouldn't have brought them back, right?

Did you have any other country's payment profile? I wonder what led Google One prices to appear in TRY instead of the Indian currency, since you would've still have had an active Indian payment profile

  • +1

Mine lasted less than 24 hours before being banned
Never connected outside being on VPN
Assume it was related to initially using AU mobile number for verification and/or AU based CC

    • Ouch, how/what did they ban?

      • Similar to a previous post, deemed violation of terms and locked account, can appeal and download google drive data

  • looks like no longer possible to sign up with burner account with Turkey payment profile, while it is a member of AU family (family manager is in AU)
If I try to sign up using burner, it will say error.
As soon as I remove the burner from family, it shows the payment option.

    Any workaround known?

    Tia

    • +1

Remove the burner account from the family, signup with the burner account, remove TRY from the burner account and add AUD.

Re-add it to the family and share.

      • confirmed work for you?

        • OK, this works - i now have 2TB but after I removed TRY payment profile to be able to join AU family (actually I did not try if I could join AU family while still having TRY profile, but assumed the case since people here said so), my Google One subscription were also cancelled (expired next year since I bought annual plan).

The question is now: how to renew next year…. create another new TRY burner then do the same again..? Or, is there an easier way?

          • +1

@OzFrugie: Just repeat the same steps, remove resub re-add etc.

  • well damn nice they got this too, i got 50odd gigs left on 2tb, eta predicts 4yrs to fill tho

  • Thanks so much for sharing this 'bargain'. Worked perfectly.

My family now has a new Turkish sibling and I have the extra Gmail storage I needed.

  • Thanks I managed to switch youtube premium from argentina to turkey and subscribe google one storage.
I struggled in the beginning but resolved the issue by deleting australian profile.

  • Does anyone know what happens if I take monthly 2TB subscription and upload 2TB on google photos in the first month and then cancel subscription?
Do I get to keep that 2TB worth of photos videos?

And then what happens if I repeat this next year i.e. Take 1 month subscription again, do I again get 2TB to upload in a month?

    • Yes you can keep the 2tb of photos & videos on your account.

      Although you hit these limitations

Gmail: you can't send or receive messages anymore.

Google Drive: new files can't be synced anymore, and new file uploads don't work either. New files can't be created.

Google Photos: new photos or videos are not synced anymore.

It's best to do this on a 2nd account and add your main Google account as a Photos partner so you have access to all of the photos but don't get hit by the limits.

If you have used the full 2tb and renew it for a month next year you won't get an additional 2tb no, it's the same 2tb of storage still so you would have to delete things to get below 2tb before you can upload new photos/videos.

You could create a third account to get a brand new 2tb of storage though. Just have to add everything into an album and share it to your main account.

  • +3

I created a Turkish user and added my main Australian account to the family but now my Aus account is Turkish and I can't download things like banking apps. In-app purchases show in Turkish currency and when I go to purchase the payment is in AUD. Any idea how to get all back to Aus on the Aus account?

  • has the price increased? showing 650 TRY per month for 2TB while on winscribe VPN connected to Turkey .. strange..

    • +1

Still shows the following monthly prices:

      • 100GB: 5.79
      • 200GB: 11.59
      • 2TB: 28.99
      • 5TB: 144.99
      • 10TB: 289.99
      • 20TB: 579.99
      • 30TB: 869.99

Actually why are the local currency prices not shown in OP?

      • +1

I'll change it sometime today :)

  • I got this to work. BUT, my google play store country has now switched to Turkey and I can't revert it back to Australia. All pricing I now see is in TRY and a lot of apps available on the Australian Playstore are no longer available on mine. I believe I need to wait a year before I can switch back to Australia. Has anyone else experienced this and what was your workaround it?

    • I still have an Australian payment profile, but it doesn't help.

      • hey, my workaround was just create a new AU Google account to add to the play store only purely for downloading Australian apps. Your Youtube/Google One etc will remain on the other account

        • Hey mate, are you able to share how you add a payment profile to Google play store. Like some others here I've got the same issue. Region is locked to Turkey. I've tried steps from Google s support pages but nothing has worked.

      • When I attempt to do it…

"When you close this profile, the service(s) below will be canceled:
        Google One"

        =\

        • +1

Unless something has changed, that means the renewal will be cancelled but what you've paid for will remain.

        • Yep, this is what happened with me. My google one subscription will expire after one year.

  • I managed to signup to 2 TB Google one, but now everything for me in in Turkish :-( how do I get back to my Australian Profile?

    • +1

I don’t know how to link to a previous comment but user @appxl posted the below previously.
I haven’t tried it myself as when my family members had this issue (they use Android phones), I stopped the process on my main account and only got storage for myself on another account as I didn’t want the whinging that came with affecting their Google Play/Pay accounts.

If you have created a Turkish payment profile, then removed your Australian profile, and are having issues with Google Pay showing in TRY, you CAN create a new Australian profile, remove the Turkish payment profile, and it will NOT cancel your newly purchased subscription (even though it says it will).

  • Is this still working, It seems i wasted 4 hours yesterday.

    Create a new account
added turkey payment profile to it
linked it to primary family link account
    downloaded windscribe VPN
    connected to turkey
tried to buy 2TB plan but kept on getting either AUD amount or Something went wrong on our end. Please try again.

Please help, It seem I am missing a single step, not sure how to get the amount to TKS
