Google One Storage Monthly/Yearly 100GB (A$0.50/$5.02) 200GB (A$1.00/$10.04) 2TB (A$2.51/$25.11) @ Google Turkey (VPN Required)

7420

Reposting this deal from 2021, credits to the original poster @Pricebeat and @neo479

Due to the significant change in currency exchange rates, prices are now around 50% lower than last year. I've done the currency conversions from Turkish Lira to Australian Dollars and the percentage of savings so you don't have to :)

Storage Monthly Cost (% Savings) Yearly Cost (% Savings)
100 GB AUD $0.50 (80% off AUD RRP) AUD $5.02 (80% off AUD RRP)
200 GB AUD $1.00 (77% off AUD RRP) AUD $10.04 (77% off AUD RRP)
2 TB AUD $2.51 (80% off AUD RRP) AUD $25.11 (80% off AUD RRP)
5 TB AUD $12.58 AUD $125.78
10 TB AUD $25.15 N/A
20 TB AUD $50.30 N/A
30 TB AUD $75.45 N/A

I remember doing this on an iPhone a few months back (as I don't have an android). So I'm guessing the device does not matter. I just resubscribed today to a new plan, on a PC. So here's my experience, and it took literally minutes.

Step 1: Change your Google payment profile to Turkey. If needed, use a fake address simulator like this one

Step 2: VPN (fly) to Turkey using the deal link above (I used the free Windscribe Chrome extension; although it was a bit tricky since Windscribe kept connecting me to random Turkey locations - in this case just disconnect and reconnect until you land on Istanbul or something, or use a different VPN. Nord VPN does not work). if the currency is shown in Turkish Lira, you've hit the jackpot

Step 3: Subscribe to the plan of your choice. Use a credit/debit card (preferedly with no international fees)

Step 4: Fly back home

EDIT 2:27 AM: After serious testing I've found the following:

  1. Regards to AussieMark's comment here

    • I just did some testing and it looks like you can share your Google One with family members - IT'S POSSIBLE! The only catch is you have to add the family members / accounts into the family first, before taking one of the accounts and subscribing through this deal. TO ADD FAMILY MEMBERS GO TO https://families.google.com/families

  2. For those who currently have Youtube Premium from Argentina, and want to sign up to this deal on top on the Google account - IT'S POSSIBLE, simply create a new payment profile for Turkey

    • If pricing initially shows Turkish but switches back to AUD, try this method: You might see the 3 columns show Australian pricing, but select the 2tb and go to next screen and check it changes to TRY currency. if this doesn't work, then I think you have to delete the Australian payment profile. You can always make a new one after, but be aware that deleting your Australian profile will destroy all your Google Play Credits
    • You can create a new payment profile by following these steps by alcheron: go to https://pay.google.com/gp/w/u/0/home/settings and clicking the pen icon next to "Country/Region" and a link to create a new profile should pop up. You can then add details for the Turkish profile.

Hope this helps!

EDIT 12:00 PM: You need to turn on family sharing after signing up to this plan to actually share the storage. To do this, go to the Google One site and click on the Gear settings icon (alternatively click on this link, then go to "Manage Family Settings" and toggle it on. This step assumes you've sared it with other members before signing up to this plan, as you cannot add family members anymore after if their account locations are not in the same country

Please note the process can be easy for some people, harder for others, or may not work at all. Copying some notes from @bargainsgrabber

  • There is no need for aggression in instances where you are unable to subscribe to an international Netflix account. Share your experience so everyone can chip in and help out. There are plenty of examples where hacks shared on this platform do not work for some people, but may work for others:
    • Modem reset for faster internet,
    • Cash back program purchase tracking,
    • Price matching an unobtainable deal or price error,
    • Targeted bargains, and
    • Limited quantity items quickly or instant (bot) sellout.
  • Similarly we know there are cash back users who follow every single step for cash back (turn off ad blocker, have no items in cart, do not click other links, etc.) on their purchases and it does not work, its probably best to move on.There are many users who successfully use this hack and enjoy paying half the price of the Australian membership. Unfortunately there are also many users who have been unable to sign up to Netflix Turkey or Argentina. After all it is intended for people who reside in Turkey or Argentina. If it does not work, I am not affiliated with any of the entities listed below or linked to and cannot guarantee any outcome. I can only read comments on this platform and others to share them with you. Your patience is appreciated. Please do not take it personally.

Yup, I bought an AUD$144 app for AUD$30. I had to buy it with the Turkish Google account who's the head of the family.

Unfortunately the family member accounts started showing apps in TRY even though their location and payment profile is AU. Some apps are unavailable too, like the ANZ app.

  • If I have my Google One paying in TLR, can I still get a percentage back on eligible Google Store purchases in the form of Google Store credit when buying from AU Google Store?

  • Thanks OP, a question about payment, is it possible I can buy Turkey Google Play card then redeem credit into dummy Gmail account to pay Google one? BTW, currently I can do that for my existing Australian Google one (main account).

    • +1

It should work, but I haven’t tried that so I don’t know yet. I think using a debit or credit card would be best option

  • I couldn't get this to work and gave up. Best of luck everyone.

  • +1

I don’t know how you guys successfully did it but for me it’s still showing the price in AUD. Could someone please help?
Please note, I created a Turkish payment profile and tried to purchase with the mentioned Windscribe VPN?

    • +1

Same here, tried so many techniques people have posted here but still can't get it to show TRY.

    • I had to give up too. When I was connecting to turkey VPN even though whatismyip.com showed me as Turkey the Google Store kept alternating between showing AUD and British Pounds. I've never had a UK payment profile so idk where it was pulling that from.

    • Have you deleted the Australia profile? If Yes, are you do it on a PC or Mac? If Yes, VPN to Turkey, make sure to open a new windows in incognito mode. You will need to login to your google account again because you are incognito. Go to Google one, and hopefully, it will be shown in Turkish price.

      • I have tried everything you mentioned. Didn't work.

  • +1

Would just like to say thanks to OP, got it working on the family account.

It's making me wonder, what else can I avail with a VPN?

    • Netflix Turkey, Youtube Argentina, Disney + etc

    • I have Netflix, Youtube and Disney through Turkey (cant get Google One as already on a plan damn it - will have to wait)

  • I created a share link to my main email before my dummy email changed its country to turkey, now my google play store is showing turkey apps only for my main email….

    • Yeah my main email is showing Turkish play store apps despite being set to Aus location.

I tested by linking another account. When it was in the 'family' it was showing Turkish play store, when I linked it, went back to Aus..

So can't seem to find a way to have the family linked One benefits and still be able to use Aus playstore.

      • Been speaking to Google help for a few days, they suggested I leave the family.

  • +1

Thanks worked like a charm and still have my YouTube Premium too.

  • What is the real benefit of having YouTube ARG and then signup for Google One on top of it? Any price difference? I am getting 28.99TRY for 2TB plan

Edit: so I keep getting AU prices even if I am on VPN to Turkey. The prices show in TRY initially.

  • I think I've spent about 4 hours on this and accepting defeat.

    • I was applying the Turkey payment profile on a spare account (already joined with family), and only AUD prices are offered.
    • Removed the spare account from family group ==> Able to sign up to Turkey plan (SurfShare VPN).
    • Couldn't join the spare account back to family group until I removed the Turkey payment profile.
    • Once re-joined, the spare account can see 2.2TB Drive storage, but the rest of the family can only see the 200gb AUD share.
    • Cancelled the Turkey 2TB membership on spare account.
    • Try to renew the 2TB option, but payment option says "no payment profile" ==> set one up in both Turkey and Aus, none work
    • Aus plans are available on the spare account's profile though.

The only thing I didn't try was deleting the AUS profile out of my primary account, but I don't want to do that in case it breaks everything else.

    • I had similar situation, aus profile on spare. Deleted Aus profile and added Turkish. Signed up Turkish on spare but it was already linked as family member. At no point did I remove any family members. I enabled share my google one from the spare account even though it's not the main acc. 2TB for all fam members.

My main is still AUD and Indian for YouTube.

      • Thanks for the input. I was trying to find a scenario exactly like mine, but couldn't so just parked it cos i had to actually go do some work :)

I do have the intention of giving it another go, I haven't been beaten by any of these "hacks" yet so definitely revisiting.

        • Haha I gave up two days ago tried again. Proud owner of Disney +, Netflix, YouTube and now Google one 😂💪 all thanks to the flights I've caught around the world…

          • @R3XNebular: Hahaha nice one! I switched my attention to Netflix when Google "beat me". Conquered NF. Disney I still have 10months paid up, wasn't sure if mucking around with it would screw that up, so left it alone.

      • wait so your turkish email isnt eve the family manager annd it worked??

        • Yea that's correct. My Turkish acc is just a member of the Google 1 family. Was able to share as a member which makes me wonder if I can stack another membership to get more than 2TB

          • @R3XNebular: i finally figured it out

            1) you have to go into settings on the google one site and theres a toggle to share

but for some reason my other accounts cant add anymore storage (i maxed out at 2tb)

            2) my existing accounnt has a few more months left and that account was able to share

so my theory is, unshare from main, make all spare accounts sign up as well
re enable sharing across all. and you now have potentially 5 accounts with 2tb each

            • +1

@furythree: Thanks so much. Located the sharing settings for turkish account so now my main account has access to the cheap storage https://ibb.co/vJMrcsf

            • @furythree: If I get this right, every time
              - add a new member (from main user)
              - add turkey profile to new member
              - new member sign up 2TB (or another plan)
              - share across family group.

correct me if is wrong. TIA

UPDATES - Hoping this will help others (somehow):

After A LOT more attempts (incl a new spare gmail), I have to accept that there's something on my main account that overrides any Turkey option on the spare account. My guess is it's existing Google One subscription that expires in April 2023.

      Summary:
      - The only way I can attach the spare account is to delete the Turkey payment profile off it. This cancels the auto-renewal on the Turkey subscription
      - If the spare is in the family, it won't see Turkey pricing.
      - Remove from family, immediately see Turkey pricing.
      - Sign up with spare to Turkey plan, try to rejoin the family and get "not in the same country" error.
      - Remove the Turkey profile from spare, cancels auto-renewal of the Turkey plan i.e. the plan remains active but will expire in July 2023.
      - Contacted Google Live Chat, they reinstated the Turkey payment profile on the spare account. I thought this was the magic bullet, but option to renew is still not available.

I ALMOST closed the Aus profile on the main account, but it's just too destructive. For now I'll wait until April next year for the Aus One subscription to lapse then check if I can get Turkey pricing on the main or spare account…… TBC

  • Does anyone have experience canceling current subscription through iTunes/Apple App Store and then successfully subscribing to Turkish service?

    My case:

    • Got notification from App store that my subscription is expiring next month so I thought this is a good time to switch to Turkey

    • Cancelled my Google subscription on iTunes (though still valid till next month)

    • Added Turkish payment profile successfully

    • The plan options don't show up https://ibb.co/C5VxsXF

Is this because I still have remaining subscription with them?

    • I'm not sure why yours is showing in USD. Did your VPN work correctly?

      • Yeah VPN set to Istanbul :(

It seems Google still think I'm subscribed through iTunes, hence no available option showing. I'll try again when my current subscription expires next month.

        • check it's showing up as TRY in incognito on a different google account

          • @impoze: Thanks I did it in incognito. But the main issue isn't the currency, I can't select any plan at all because it's greyed out.

            • +1

@foxes28: Disconnect VPN and try again sometimes Nord VPN goes to USA when you click turkey

You can check by googling what is my IP or where am I.

              • +1

@AussieMark: It's definitely Turkey as it shows TRY when I'm not logged in to my account. As soon as I log in to my account, there is no available option to choose. I think I'll have to wait until my subscription through iTunes expire

  • +1

    Thanks, all set up.

Make sure to check the pricing on the 2nd screen, as the 1st screen was still showing AUD.

  • This has affected my family members and their purchases on Google play store as it’s showing up as Turkish currency now. I’m going to have to undo everything I did and cancel the storage, unless anyone else has a solution to this?

    • My family member (my wife) when she try to make an in-game purchase, the price appears in Turkish currency. However, when you go ahead with any purchase, it will show her the price in Australian dollars. So YES it will appears in Turkish, but when you make the purchase, it will be default back to AUD$.

      • Can she see local apps like the ANZ banking app?

        • Yes, all the local apps are still available. Her Google One also has Google VPN (which are available for Australia) but not for me (Turkey profile).

  • +2

To confirm - once you have deleted your aus profile and signed up, you can't add another aus profile back in for 1 year?

I can't seem to find the option to create another aus payment profile :(

EDIT: click the pen icon works to create a new profile

  • I seem to have my main switched to another country play store now which is annoying

I vaguely remember saying to share payments with the Google one account so maybe that's why

    Trying to undo it

    • Same with mine. Please report back if you find anything. I haven’t had the time to look at it but will be doing so soon

      • I believe you have to wait 1 year before you can switch your main account back to AU

        • i never changed the country on my main just set turkey to my secondary account and made them the family host

  • +2

Managed to get it working. Was getting an error when trying to buy it for a year but worked after buying 1 month and then going back to buy 1 year

  • +1

Awesome. Thank you all for sharing. It worked like a charm

  • I just want to point something out that has caused some confusion.

If you have created a Turkish payment profile, then removed your Australian profile, and are having issues with Google Pay showing in TRY, you CAN create a new Australian profile, remove the Turkish payment profile, and it will NOT cancel your newly purchased subscription (even though it says it will).

    • This works but you will need to go through the process again to renew next year I believe as it won't auto renew

  • My tips on this one.

I did all the steps listed, and used the Windscribe chrome extension.
I found deleting the past payment profile didn't work completely. Google was holding onto some of my address details and kept reverting to aud (initial page would show TRY, but it would switch after signin).

The key is to log in from a fresh account on incognito. Proceed straight through the login without even setting up a payment profile.

    • You know you're on the right track when you don't see PayPal in the 'Choose Payment Type' popup.

    • It will allow you to enter your credit card details without choosing a particular address within Turkey (DO NOT change back to an Australian address)

    • I paid from an ANZ credit card, while the initial payment was blocked I could try again 15 minutes later after approving via SMS.

I hope this helps someone in addition to the advice already posted. :)

    • I want to do this but after reading a few recent comments is it worth the hassle?

  • i got this workinng and added family to the group

but when i get to the step of sharing google one storage with family it doesnt work
    no error
just loops with it taking me to the family group settings
family group says i cann share with family but that link takes me back to google one

    • You need to turn on family sharing after signing up to this plan to actually share the storage. To do this, go to the Google One site and click on the Gear settings icon then go to "Manage Family Settings" and toggle it on.

  • Question - i have youtube premium via argentina (family plan. I created a new gmail account and then "added" my normal account and my wifes - all works well).
If we want to add this on to backup photos etc, do i just create ANOTHER new gmail account, signup to this and then add the two accounts as family again? Can you be a member of two different familes….? (One for YT Premium, one for Google One in two different countries?)

    • No you can’t be a member of 2 different families. Use the same (the new gmail acc you made for youtube via argentina) and follow the instructions to make a new payment profile for turkey (keep ur argentina there). After you signed up you’re all good

  • I managed to sign up to TRY on spare. But forgot to add main to family.

    So now I should :
    Can TRY sub on spare.
Delete TRY profile on spare and create au profile.
    Use main to invite spare.
Spare accept invite then delete au profile then create tur profile and sign up?

  • +2

Hi All, i thought this linke would be useful for how to change the payment profile country
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oY2_1RUMzus

  • Finally managed to get mine after my AU subscription through iTunes expired. (Lesson learned: do not use iTunes for your online service subscription, if possible better to go direct)

I initially had Argentinian profile for my YT premium and did what OP explained above to add new Turkish profile. However it kept showing prices in USD and at the bottom it says Google Argentina services blah blah blah in Spanish.

So I had no choice but to delete the Argentinian profile leaving Turkish being the only profile on my account. It then worked fine. Now I'm wondering if I add a new Argentinian profile back, would my YT premium subscription continue with Argentinian price? Otherwise that's not a big deal as Turkish YT premium is only 20c more expensive anyway.

TL;DR Had to delete existing Argentinian payment profile to make it work

    • Also forgot to mention, Windscribe sometimes doesn't really get you connected to Turkey even when whatismyipaddress.com and other similar websites showing as connected to Turkey.

The best way to check is simply go to Google homepage and see what it says on the bottom left of the page. In my case it was showing as "Czech", hence stuck with CZK instead of TRY on the pricing page.

As others have mentioned, you just need to keep reconnecting until you land on the correct IP address and Google recognise your location as Turkey.

  • Anyone tried this method using Apple Turkey account subscription?

  • I have an email account that has the first payment profile in USA, and second payment profile in Australia

I have 2nd and 3rd email account that is just Australia but without payment.

How do I change the email account that has the first payment profile in USA to Australia so I can join all 3?

  • just posting my issues i had.

i had did this over a month ago and thought it was all fine. I initially signed up for one month to test and when it all worked, I signed up for a year plan. after this, i realised my Google Play store was all weird and apps werent available so i deleted the turkish profile and swapped it to an aust profile. i must have still be within my 1st mth i think when i did this so my 1 year didn't kick in yet (unsure about this) and essentially my storage was back to default and i was over and needed to get storage quick.

used my throwaway account to add a turkish profile (after deleted the family group as it wouldn't let me do anything). after adding google one for 1 year, i deleted the turkish profile and added the australian payment profile. tried to setup a family group and got the "you can only change family groups once a year".

contacted google support chat and got them to get around this but as i got 5 accounts in total in the family group, they had to send a security message to each one for verification and get "senior member approval" which took a bit longer. all up, took me 2.5hrs on the chat to have it all under one family group again as they had to unlock each account individually and i added the benefits and shared the storage.

now i got an expiry 1 year from now and im half debating if it's worth the hassle of doing it all over again or how i go about doing this on renewal?! suggestions would be appreciated. everything is on aussie profile now and cards and links are all australian however the subscription expires in a year.

    • if you are all setup and ready to go, just renew it without much work

      • Will probably need to add a profile on again for turkey in a year's time I suppose? Hopefully doesn't break anything then

        • +1

If all else fails in a year’s time, create a new account. Invite it into existing family group, accept the invite, as Turk profile, subscribe again and reshare back to family

  • Is there no yearly option for 10TB plus?

  • Hi my situation is simple…I just have one Gmail account but it never had an Aussie payment profile. It only has one profile for India and I am using it for yt premium for a few years now. I tried creating a Turkish profile and used WeVPN to go to subscribe to google one but it only gives me prices in Indian rupees. I don’t use google pay as am within the Apple ecosystem but I do use the gmail as the primary mail account. Please help. What am I doing wrong. Why is it defaulting to rupees?

  • is it too late to add another family member once the yearly has been paid? Tried switching the account back to AUD but still getting the error of not being in the same country

  • Can google play credits from Opinion rewards (in Australian google account) be used to pay for this?

  • Hi, has anyone tried doing this using a turkish itunes account? I can get turkish pricing but it's double the cost of whats in the post. Or have the prices gone up?

  • +1

Just FYI, I got this to work with NordVPN, so adding my steps here:

    • Made a dummy account
    • Added my main account to family group owned by new account
    • Logged out of all Google accounts in Chrome (not sure if this mattered but wanted to make sure I was in the right account)
    • Logged in to new account
    • Created the Turkish payment profile (address from some online generator)
    • Deleted my Aussie payment profile
    • Turned on NordVPN and connected to Turkey
    • Went to the deal link and prices were in TRY
    • Subscribed to Google One
    • Toggled on Family Sharing
    • Win
    • +1

BTW you can use an incognito window to make sure you're logged out of all your other accounts.

I signed up for it with the family manager account and realised the sub accounts were unable to see some local apps in the play store, like the ANZ app. To fix that I deleted the Turkish payment profile from the family manager account and it reverted back to the old Aussie one which was there. The Google One subscription did not get cancelled. Hopefully it won't be too much of a hassle to renew it next year.

      • sub accounts were unable to see some local apps in the play store, like the ANZ app. To fix that I deleted the Turkish payment profile from the family manager account and it reverted back to the old Aussie one which was there. The Google One subscription did not get cancelled.

Wow we have a fix now! Thanks!

      • Yeah, I did things with a mix of both, didn't want to risk anything haha.

This is really interesting. I can't see ANZ Australia when I search for it in the Play Store app, but when I search via Google and go to the Play Store to download from there I can install it.

Are you on the Google One trial period or have you made the subscription payment already? I think I'll only be charged in a month so was thinking of waiting until then but I'm not sure if I need to.

        • Are you on the Google One trial period or have you made the subscription payment already?

I made the payment already. I suppose you'd have to wait till you get charged before removing the payment profile.

          • @eug: So what would you do next year? Add and remove? Pretty troublesome

            • @atlas: That's what I'll try. If that's all I have to do once a year, I'll take it. Should only take a couple of minutes hopefully!

              • @eug: Should sign up with a member account instead of your manager account - then wouldn't have this issue

                • @atlas: I don't have spare slots unfortunately!

                • @atlas: Hey, so yeah I am wanting to change things around to make my Play Store come back to AUD on my main account.

                  Wondering if this will work:
                  * Create new account in TRY
                  * Invite new account to family
                  * Close TRY profile on family manager account (dummy account) which will cancel auto-subscription for GOne and YT
(This should restore AUD to Play though, right?)
                  * Resub with new account to both YT and GOne
                  * Reshare YT and GOne to family

I feel like this might not work though since I think I had to change my dummy account (family manager account) from AU to TRY initially, so even deleting the profile might not change it back to AU…

                  • @Kingeh: Maybe it would be easier to disband then recreate your family group? Although I'm not sure if there are restrictions on how often you can change family.

I also recall there being a limit on how fast you can change payment profile?

                    • @atlas: I heard you can only change family groups once a year? And you can change payment profile as often as you like I think, but the country can only change once from what I have read?

Yeah honestly at the moment it's not really worth the trouble and the risk of losing the deals. Easy enough to just add my spare account to Google Play Store and download apps that way. :)

                      • @Kingeh: Even I m not able to update a few apps. How about sending a message to Google customer support to change our Play Store country location to AUD?

                    • @atlas:

Leave or switch family groups. Before you can switch family groups, you need to leave the one you're currently in. You can only switch families once every 12 months. If you leave a family group and join a new one, you won't be able to join another family group for 12 months.

  • +1

If you remain inactive or go over your storage quota for 2 years or longer, all of your content may be deleted.

This seems like a poor way to treat paying (or previously paying) customers.

I feel like free users get a higher level of premium service and high-availability than paid users because if paid users forget to renew or whatever, their services get restricted or data is deleted. Whereas free users remaining under 15gb and never paying will never run the risk of interruption of services.

Spent the a number of hours in the past few days trying to get this to work and finally got it sorted. Thought I'd share just in case it helps someone…

    1) Created a new Gmail account with an AUD payment profile

    2) Added the new account to my existing AUD family

    3) On new account, deleted the AUD payment profile and created a new Turkey profile and added my payment card.

    4) VPN to Turkey (used Windscribe). Went to the Google One storage page with the new profile, signed up to the 2TB subscription. Initially showed pricing as AUD but when I went to subscribe the confirmation page showed TRY currency.

    5) Once subscribed, opened the Google One app on my phone and added the Turkey account to my phone

    6) Switched to the Turkey account in the app, went to Settings, and then Manage Family Settings. Switched the toggle for "Share Google One with your Family".

All the accounts in my "family" now have the 2TB.

    • Do you use your real name in Turkey account/payment profile payment card?

      • Yes

        • Real name as in credit card, but Turkish address?
