ANZ Frequent Flyer Black Visa: Bonus 160,000 Qantas Points & $225 Back ($3,000 Spend in 3 Months, $425 Fee) - ANZ Customers Only

4880

Deal link goes to public product page because I couldn't work out how to submit this deal without a link - look at description or screenshot

Found this huge Qantas Points offer in the ANZ app a couple of days ago:

An exclusive offer to ANZ customers only.
Earn 160,000 bonus Qantas Points and $225 back to your new card when you spend $3,000 on eligible purchases in the first 3 months from approval. New card. T&Cs, >eligibility criteria, fees and charges apply (including an Annual Fee, currently $425). Screenshot

You can get to this offer via ANZ Internet Banking in browser, or in the ANZ App.

If you aren't an ANZ customer: I mentioned this offer to a friend who then opened a transaction account and was able to immediately see the offer in their new internet banking and apply for the card. The basic ANZ transaction account is $5 a month, which you can get waived if you deposit $2k into the account each month (doesn't need to stay in the account). You could close the account once you get your bonus points (possibly once you get the card?)

Aside from this massive number of bonus points, card features are:

  • Earn 1 Qantas Point per $1 spent on eligible purchases up to $7,500 per statement period
  • A higher Qantas Points earn rate compared to all other ANZ Frequent Flyer cards
  • Uncapped Qantas Points
  • Complimentary Frequent Flyer Membership and a discount on a 1 year Qantas Club membership
  • Two complimentary Qantas Club lounge invitations each year
  • Complimentary insurances including International Travel Insurance
  • Up to 55 days interest free on purchases

You can see the general details of the card (at it's usual lower offer value) here

I think this might be the highest consumer bonus points offer available at the moment, I certainly haven't seen any higher recently.

If you haven't earned Qantas Points from a credit card in the past 12 months, you may be able to stack with the New Cardholder Bonus of 20,000 points (from Qantas). The ANZ Black card is listed on the relevant page, and it doesn't specify that you have to click through the Qantas page to get the offer, but I haven't tried! The New Cardholder Bonus from Qantas ends on March 31 (there's no end date listed for the ANZ card offer).

Edit: Clarified end date in post applies to 20k top-up offer, not 160k sign-up offer.

      • Hmm, tried on 3 browsers, all have no adblock. Listed on Qantas site as 130k. Maybe this actually has expired now?

        • +1

I can still see it on my ANZ app still.

        • +2

You need to be an existing ANZ customer and click through after you are logged in.

          • @CodeXD: Thanks, just had to get my account re-instated!

      • Is this offer still active? I just registered for ANZ
I had a look on ANZ net banking. Only showing the 130k points offer
Also not finding on the app

        • Disable adblocker and check again.

          still active

          • @CodeXD: Disabled adblocker and tried on incognito. Still showing 130k.
Might deposit some money into the new account and try again later today
Just to be sure, this offer is under "Products & Offers"> Credit Card

  • I got my $225 back but no Qantas points. Any ideas?

    • +1

Have a look at your “reward” points on the website (not app), they will be sitting there waiting for your next statement to sweep them to Qantas.

      • Qantas website?

        • +1

Login to ANZ website and look at your reward points, it says how many you have earnt since last statement.

  • My card was approved earlier yesterday but can't see the new card/account in Internet banking yet? Is it same for others too?

    • Your application was approved or you received the physical card and have activated it? If just approval stage then need wait 5-10 business day for the card. Activate it from your IB then you should see it there.

      • Application was approved yesterday, card is in snail mail now. I thought the new cc account would show up in Internet banking. Thank you!

  • Just got the card in the mail.

1: If I spend $3000 next week, how long does it take for the points to appear? Travelling in August so am hoping to get them before then.

2: I spoke to the team on Friday to let them know that I have a break free package home loan and asked if the annual fee could be waived to which they said nope! I know the breakfree package is ending later this year but was wondering if anyone has had success in getting the fee waived in the last month or so and is it just a case of calling until you speak to the right person?

    • +1
      1. I completed the spend in my 2nd statement, and it will appear in the 3rd. If you complete it in 1st, it should come in with your 2nd statement.

      2. A lot of people already confirmed that they had their annual fee waived.

      • "I completed the spend in my 2nd statement, and it will appear in the 3rd. If you complete it in 1st, it should come in with your 2nd statement."

        Ok, thanks for that.

"A lot of people already confirmed that they had their annual fee waived."

Yes I saw that but I was wanting to know if anyone has had it waived in the last month or so as the person I spoke to at ANZ has said that they don't waive it anymore.

  • Is it worth cancelling existing credit cards to increase chances of being approved?

I earn over 75k, have no debt, but want to minimize chances of being declined - have a credit card with a 6K limit, worth cancelling it?

And when they ask about your weekly/monthly spending habits, is it better to be conservative or not? Do they want you to be spending a lot, or frugal? I assume spending as much as you can without exceeding your income?

    • Yes, it can be worth. Anz asked me for proof of closure of the previous card I had closed.

  • 1st statement came in and see the $425 fees but not the $225 refund. I see 30k points added in my QFF page but no indication of anymore forthcoming in statement or ANZ/Qantas websites.
I met about half of the 3k requirement in the first statement and spent over the requirement now (actually the spend was done in the 1st statement period but some transactions still showing pending) so maybe the 2nd statement will show the refund, and 3rd the remainder of points. My guess.

    • My points came on the second statement date (today) after spending $2700 non-pending in the first statement period. $255 return came in a week ago.

      • 12/6 - 30k points for Credit card bonus (I didn't expect this and I don't know why, but I'll take it :)
        17/6 - $225 refunded
        12/7 - 60k + 100k points for ANZ Frequent Flyer Bonus

        • And points club if you didn’t have it already…..maybe even points club plus

  • +1

I can cancel my card now

    • So the 160k comes in two chunks? Does the whole 160k count towards points club then?

      • +2

        Yep

        • huge. thanks

        • Ooooh, that is great for points club, eg 125k transaction limit! Mine comes across….today maybe……shows as 160,000 bonus in ANZ. Hopefully does the same as yours!

          • @Coops1: They split my points as well. Points Club! Nice one ANZ. Another 170k to go for Plus.

  • Anybody know where the 30k points are from?

    Shows as credit card bonus.

I received total of 190k points.

I only applied for the 20k bonus points promotion for Qantas cards. Maybe it's this but bugged?

    • +1

Might be related to the original offer being 130K

Either way, never happened, enjoy the bonus points. Whatever you do, do not ask ANZ about it unless you are feeling generous

      • +3

Oh ok, nevermind. I am just seeing incorrectly. Did not receive any 30k. Just the 160k.

        :)

  • +3

Just posting my experience in case it helps others.

8 June - applied through ANZ website and submitted supporting documents by email

10 June - received phone call from ANZ seeking more information and additional documents which I emailed immediately after the call

15 June - received text message reminding me to upload requested documents (not sure why I got this message since I had already done it)

16 June - called ANZ to follow up and ended up getting approved over the phone after the representative reviewed my documents

21 June - received card and welcome pack in the mail

  • anyone know if the 160k points are still on offer to ANZ customers?

Just opened a transaction account and can't see the FF cards being offered, just the others.

    • +1

      Still there for me.

At the bottom click For You -> Personal accounts -> Credit cards -> ANZ FF Cards

      • Found it through the app in the end. Not showing on internet banking though

      • +1

        Thank you!!

        Applied last night at 11pm.

Got an email approval this morning at 8:30am. Mad quick!

Always a good experience with ANZ for me (I've banked with them for over 10 years).

      • Thanks! I opened a Progress Saver account - the 160k offer also didn't appear for me through internet banking, but in the app it showed up as you said.

Also, the standard offer can't decide whether it's $225 or $255 cashback. I figured the latter was a typo, but I have seen both amounts on multiple different screens (and took screenshots). Anyone able to confirm the actual amount that gets received? EDIT: someone above said they got their $225 cashback, so I assume it's that.

  • Hit the $3000 back in May, had statement 12 June. No bonus points or account cash back yet. Rang them twice and twice they said up to 3 months from hitting the $3000. Frustrating !
Thank god its the best deal ever. They better pay up.

    • +1

Those that hit the spend before the first statement, are tending to get their points when the second statement is issued.

      • Thanks. Mine was my 2nd, but only had the card a week or so before the 1st so hopefully this is the case. Find out in a couple of weeks.

        • Have you had a look in your account (via website) and looked at Reward points ? They maybe saying earnt since X date, and are ready to transfer ~12 July or thereabouts, make sure you scroll to the right if you dont see any points showing

          • @Coops1: Just had a look. 37.3 earnt this period. No bonus points . Doesn't bode well. I'll spend a bit more just in case.

            • @Rbnutz: I had a similar issue, and it was because government charges did not count towards the $3k spend. So make sure your spending is valid and check how many points you received in your FF account e.g. if you've spent $3k+ then you should also have 3k+ points in your FF account.

              • @CodeXD: Great advice. Have checked. About 3.1k FF points in my account and on the statements. Bit close for comfort but should be enough. Ill spend a bunch more just in case.
                Thanks all.

                • +1

@Rbnutz: Just give them a call and check you've met the requirements. It's not unusual for them to take an extra statement to credit the bonus but considering your 90 days is probably close to up its a good idea to call them and verify you've met the requirements. You'd hate to miss out by a couple of hundred dollars spend…

                  • @stirlo: Thanks.
Back on this again and just spoke to them, they confirmed the offer 160k $225 back on card and importantly that I had meet the requirements. Said points will be paid out on 4th statement, 1 following the 3. Time will tell. I've spent more just in case.
                    .

                    • @Rbnutz: Yeah been waiting for my points as well. Nothing so far and it's the third statement. Anz is making me sweat.

                      • @nightelves: Got em!

Alright today is statement #4 and very pleased to see $225 account credit (showing paid 29/7/22), along with 100k & 60k Qantas points in my account, credited today 6/8/22.

                        Hopefully others get paid too.

                        • +1

@Rbnutz: Yeah got mine as well. Thanks for the update.

  • I have the ANZ Black Rewards (not the frequent flyer) and it's not showing the card for me when I log in as available sadly

  • Hit my minimum spend before the 2nd statement generated but didn't get the bonus points. 3rd statement due within a few days but bonus points not appearing in the reward points section within internet banking.

    • They told me will be paid out on 4th Statement.

    • +1

Make sure your spending are valid for the $3k. Any government charges, car rego, etc won't work. How many FF points have you accumulated in Qantas FF account so far?

      • I had 4765 come through after the second statement. It was mostly overseas spend which I assume is valid.

      • Seriously you can't use Rego? I had no trouble using it with other Cards, But it's probably why My points aren't adding up for this statement, Appreciate feedback on this

        • yeah, they recently excluded a ton of government spend

      • Does home, health or car insurance count towards the limit?

  • -2

Pretty sure this has ended, tried to apply for it through my anz app and it sends me to the default offering of 100k and 30k extra after 12months

Gawd, how many times do you need to tell them. Honestly, sometimes I just give up at the strait out dumbness of some.

        • Yer right, didnt read the above stuff

          Thanks for the assistance

    Sharing my experience:

    • 2nd statement – got $255 cashback and 100k points
    • 3rd statement – got 60k points

Was about to call them up because I thought the wrong offer was applied but the points ended up arriving today.

  • Ok guys, so I got approved, once I get the points, are they attached to some other kind of account so I could close the ANZ card without repercussions?

(I'm hoping to wait for a deal again!)

    Is that frequent?

    • You can close the card. I would call to request the Qantas lounge passes though before closing.

  • Unfortunately the 'View Points Details' page for Frequent Flyer Visa is temporarily unavailable.

Does anyone else have that error message when trying to open Rewards Point on web/desktop?

    • I can see mine. Unfortunately mine is showing zero even though I met the min spend in the second month and my third statement is going to issue in the next day or 2.

      • No more error message for me but yeah the bonus cashback and Qantas points are not there yet even though I spent >$4k in the first month

  • When I checked the public website, the offer does not say you have to be an existing ANZ Customer? Is this a recent change?

    • To get 130k you don’t have to be. To get 160k you do.

  • Dropped to 100k + 30k over 12months

    • +2

      No it hasn't =.=

Still available, turn off your adblocker =.=

      • Not even a reply to say thanks! :)

an additional bonus 30,000 Qantas Points when you keep the card for over 12 months

On the ANZ app, at the bottom click For You -> Personal accounts -> Credit cards -> ANZ FF Cards

https://www.anz.com.au/personal/credit-cards/frequent-flyer/… (link should work in private/incognito with no extensions enabled)

          • @CodeXD: I'm an existing ANZ customer and also only seeing the 100k + 30k after 12 months. No ad block and have tried different browsers. Your link seems to work though.

            • @F-22: Did you use the Anz app?

              • @Coops1: No, only the internet banking via dekstop browser.

                • @F-22: You need to click the link in the app! It will show 160k and take you to the desktop browser. Take screen shots as evidence to be sure to be sure

                  • @Coops1: Confirmed that it shows in the app but not on desktop browser. The op said the following so didnt even check the app until you mentioned. Thanks.

You can get to this offer via ANZ Internet Banking in browser, or in the ANZ App.

                    • +1

@F-22: Yeah, deal has been going 4 months, changed a month or so ago that it was via app only. All Flyer card offers disappeared from the website for a period at the same time.

Make sure you sign up for the Qantas 20k deal, via qantas website. As far as I’m aware (works for me) you don’t have to apply for the cards thru the qantas website to get the 20k

  • Does anyone know if buying airline tickets is an 'eligible purchase' towards the $3000 spend? Not sure where to find what an eligible purchase is?

    • +2

      That should be fine.

      Link to T&C

If you do a search for government charges, you'll be able to see an exclusion list.

      • Thanks for that.

      • I searched for that - but don't really understand that wording. If i was to pay health insurance, property insurance, etc, would those payments count towards the $3000?

  • Incredible deal, easy application process for me (only one phone call to inquire about a small discrepancy in pay slips). Thanks OP.

  • Can this be combined with bonus 20k quantas for new card holders ? I am an existing anz customer and can see the 160k offer in my app.

    • Yes, if you meet the t&cs. I got 180k.

      • Thanks. I donot have to apply for the credit card from quantas website right? It only shows the offer with 130k points.

        • +1

It worked that way for me. I applied thru anz website directly, a couple of months after registering on qantas.
