ANZ Frequent Flyer Black Visa: Bonus 160,000 Qantas Points & $225 Back ($3,000 Spend in 3 Months, $425 Fee) - ANZ Customers Only

4880

Deal link goes to public product page because I couldn't work out how to submit this deal without a link - look at description or screenshot

Found this huge Qantas Points offer in the ANZ app a couple of days ago:

An exclusive offer to ANZ customers only.
Earn 160,000 bonus Qantas Points and $225 back to your new card when you spend $3,000 on eligible purchases in the first 3 months from approval. New card. T&Cs, >eligibility criteria, fees and charges apply (including an Annual Fee, currently $425). Screenshot

You can get to this offer via ANZ Internet Banking in browser, or in the ANZ App.

If you aren't an ANZ customer: I mentioned this offer to a friend who then opened a transaction account and was able to immediately see the offer in their new internet banking and apply for the card. The basic ANZ transaction account is $5 a month, which you can get waived if you deposit $2k into the account each month (doesn't need to stay in the account). You could close the account once you get your bonus points (possibly once you get the card?)

Aside from this massive number of bonus points, card features are:

  • Earn 1 Qantas Point per $1 spent on eligible purchases up to $7,500 per statement period
  • A higher Qantas Points earn rate compared to all other ANZ Frequent Flyer cards
  • Uncapped Qantas Points
  • Complimentary Frequent Flyer Membership and a discount on a 1 year Qantas Club membership
  • Two complimentary Qantas Club lounge invitations each year
  • Complimentary insurances including International Travel Insurance
  • Up to 55 days interest free on purchases

You can see the general details of the card (at it's usual lower offer value) here

I think this might be the highest consumer bonus points offer available at the moment, I certainly haven't seen any higher recently.

If you haven't earned Qantas Points from a credit card in the past 12 months, you may be able to stack with the New Cardholder Bonus of 20,000 points (from Qantas). The ANZ Black card is listed on the relevant page, and it doesn't specify that you have to click through the Qantas page to get the offer, but I haven't tried! The New Cardholder Bonus from Qantas ends on March 31 (there's no end date listed for the ANZ card offer).

Edit: Clarified end date in post applies to 20k top-up offer, not 160k sign-up offer.

            • @JJ29: Ive had a FF for years, most cards offer a free membership valued at ~$90 but no one ever pays for them from what I understand

              Found this https://www.pointhacks.com.au/qantas/how-to-join-frequent-fl…

              • @MaccDogg: Thanks. Have you always opted to use qantas?

                • @JJ29: For points? Yes, I never got into Velocity. And now I also fly Qantas because of the points. I use to fly any budget airline with the cheapest seat.

                  • @MaccDogg: From what i have read Qantas have many affiliated airlines and Jetstar is one of them

  • I applied for this card last Mon 29 Aug. Got a submission error on first attempt so I had to start the application all over again. Received confirmation email only for second attempt.

Today I received a rejection letter in the mail… And a welcome pack with a brand new card?

Don't know how they operate. But I'll take the 160k points.

    • Maybe both went through and they rejected the second application on the basis of you having a card from the first… Maybe check your credit file and see if you have two enquiries? If you do, you could ask ANZ to remove one of them.

    This deal does not appear to be available anymore, unable to find it in my offers, only this;

Current offer is only 130,000 points.

Earn up to 130,000 Qantas Points1. You’ll get 100,000 bonus Qantas Points and $255 back to your new card when you spend $3,000 on eligible purchases in the first 3 months from approval and an extra 30,000 Qantas Points if you keep the card for over 12 months.2 T&Cs, eligibility criteria, fees and charges apply (including an Annual Fee, currently $425).

    Deal marked as expired

    • +1

Still available, this deal is ANZ App only.

At the bottom click For You -> Personal accounts -> Credit cards -> ANZ FF Cards

      • I see, I'll remove expiry, thanks

        • +2

if you dont see the 160k points after clicking from ANZ app, then try disabling adblockers on your phone/browser.

          • @CodeXD: Ok I see it, it's not app-only then. Thanks.

            • @moocher: I'm unsure if it will track correctly if you register from that link tho. It is the same link the app takes you to.

              • @CodeXD: Ok. It seems like the deal is still available/not expired in any case. Thanks.

  • Is this deal still alive? 160k?

    • -3

It is, but you need to keep it open for more than 12 months to earn a full 160k, otherwise will be 130k plus cash back.

Earn up to 130,000 Qantas Points1. You’ll get 100,000 bonus Qantas Points and $255 back to your new card when you spend $3,000 on eligible purchases in the first 3 months from approval and an extra 30,000 Qantas Points if you keep the card for over 12 months

      • +2

I can still see this offer in my anz app

      • +1

@Drhip What are you trying to say? 160k? 130k+30k or 100k+30k.

To set the record straight, the offer is available in the APP, and you get 160k posted when you meet the criteria!

        • +1

          What I am saying is:
          1) The offer is still available
          2) My offer on ANZ Internet Banking is 100k+30k and $255 cash back. Not sure if the offer on the app is different or not

          • +2

@drhip: The offer in the app is different. It’s better in that it’s 160k straight up once the criteria is met, albeit only $225 back.

            • +2

@Coops1: Thanks. Wow, how could that be so different for the same card lol

              • @drhip: Thanks guys. I opened up the progress saver account on my app. But I cant see any deals or even products page on the app…

              • +3

@drhip: Just be aware, each screen you click thru, if you pay attention, it changes from 160k, the next screen is 130k and then on the application page it goes back to 160k. Annoying but not an issue. If you need screen shots let me know. :)

Nobody that I am aware of has not got 160k, only those that had no idea where they started, eg the 130k offer.

                • @Coops1: Hey where on the app is the deal meant to be located? I cant see any deals or offers on the ANZ app at all…

                • @Coops1: Hi, just wondering if you have any idea for the minimum income/salary to get approval for this card?

                  • +1

@Dealor: Use to be 75k as just one of the criteria

  • Would paying Uni course fee count as eligible purchase ?

  • This card comes with two Qantas Club lounge invitations. Can i “gift” this to someone else?
I assume i have to call concierge to arrange that?

    • No. But once you have claimed the lounge passes into your account then you can transfer that to anyone.

      • Is that via their Qantas FF account or some other way?

        • Obviously have to be from your QF account. Read up the walkthrough here

          • @timhn: As I said, I was asking about how the recipient gets it, not where it comes from. But thanks for the link, that covers it.

      • +1

Sorry, this is my first qantas cc .

I understand how to transfer the passes once it’s in my qantas acc.

But how do i claim the passes from anz? Do i need to have upcoming trips with qantas/jetstar first?

        Thanks.

        • +1

Just call the concierge number - probably at the back of the card.

Recommend you to call at least 1 month before your flight (or when you need to transfer to someone). It may take them a week or so to have that in your QF account.

If you don't need the passes yet, claim them just few days before you cancel the credit card.

  • Finally got my 160k points credit, on my second statement today. Got the $225 refund last week.

I don't see any section about lounge passes in the app. And the guide posted above doesn't cover how to request them (if necessary). Should these appear automatically, somewhere, in my QFF app/account?

    • +1

You have to call ANZ to request the passes and provide your QFF number. They should appear in your QFF account within a week or so.

Call your Personal Concierge on 1300 580 765 to order your invitations.

      • Thanks.

      • Just ordered. I also got 2 free passes from Qantas by qualifying for their Points Club thing. Those already appeared in my account and I've already sold them on.

So you get 4 passes in total!

  • I've made an access advantage account and taken advantage of this offer. Now that I have the credit card can I close the access account? or should I keep it open until the bonuses are recieved?

  • Is this still working?

    • +1

I can still see it on the anz app.

At the bottom click For You -> Personal accounts -> Credit cards -> ANZ FF Cards

  • I logged into my ANZ web account and it only says 130,000 bonus points and there is no $225 cashback??

    • ANZ App.

      • Damn I already clicked through the internet banking and submitted the application but pending payslip docs. Can I withdraw or submit another application from the anz app?

        • You could, but then that would mean you will have 2 credit checks on your file

  • Any reason to hold on to this card once points and lounge passes have been received?

    • The 1 point per $ spend, travel insurance. It’s my main card when not using Amex.

      • Yeah it's just the fee.

Anyway I just cancelled and, not really expecting anything, I requested a partial fee refund. She went away and came back and said it would be on my next statement.

        Result!

        • did you call or use live chat? i am about to cancel and request pro rata refund of annual fee in the next day or so

          • @offthetap: Called - I'm less than 3 months in so that probably helped.

          • @offthetap: I did it via live chat – was about four months in and got a full refund.

            • @76F: I wasn't expecting it because earlier in this thread there were a number of posts saying ANZ wouldn't do it. But it's a nice surprise.

              • @gadgetguy: Oh wow
So technically fee free. Damn, would have so easily copped the 160k points, no fee card would have been icing on top

    • Don't you need to renew the card or keep 12 months to get the extra 30000 points? I have had it 6 months and in the same boat, thinking do i keep it or move on to another one before the 12 months

      • If you got the 160k deal offer there is no extra, you already got them in one go.

  • +3

    My experience:
    Approved 15/7/22
    Spent $3,000+ 25/7/22
    $225 refund 29/7/22
100,000 ANZ bonus points added 4/8/22
60,000 ANZ bonus points added 4/8/22
20,000 Credit card bonus points added 7/9/22

  • Why is this marked expired when I can see it still in my ANZ app?

  • Checked the app today, can only see 110k Qantas points for the black card.

    • Looks like it finally ended! Also seeing 110k on my end.

      • I guess I was lucky, I applied 2 days ago and it was still showing as 160k but $225 back to the fee.

    • +1

After all the, “it’s not ended” commentary. You are right….160k is goneski

  • So unfortunate. I just went to ANZ branch today to verify my identify so that I can open a saving account for accessing this offer, and now it's ended.

  • Hey guys when did most people usually get their bonus points? I spent over 3k in the first 10 days (big purchase) but didnt get the points in first statement. Also I got charged $370 + $55 in first statement. Will I get the $250 when I get the reward points? thanks

    • +2

      See foxes comment about this:

"I saw some people also posted that they received the cashback and bonus points on the second statement despite meeting the requirement within the first month. Hope this helps a bit if you are still waiting for yours!"

  • +1

Those who haven't closed their credit card yet, this is worth a try, I called ANZ and spoke to Maria and asked if they do pro-rata refund. She said they don't do pro-rata refund but will refund the entire amount (probably because the account was not very old?, didn't ask much cos free money :)

    Timeline
    I was charged $370(annual fee) + $55(Qantas program fee) in 1st statement
Got $225 cashback and 160k qantas points in 2nd statement
I got refunded $370 in last statement.

    Approved 13 July
    1st transaction from 19th July
Closed 4th October and asked for refund over the phone
    Last Statement 28th October

So $170 profit along with 160k bonus points

    Proof

    • I also closed my account on the phone and asked for a pro-rata refund of the annual fee. All was done but I am yet to see any refund of the fee :(
How long did it take for the refund to appear in your account?

      • Did you cancel after the second statement?

        • +1

I closed my account after 3 months - so it would be my 3rd statement already.

          • @ChaseTheSun: I closed after 3 statements.
my statement generation date is 28th every month
Card was approved on 13th july
            closed on 4th october
refund seen in last statement generated today

      • It took about 2 weeks. Had to ask about the progress in live chat a few times.

        • Cool i may need to get in touch with them as it's been 3 weeks since and no refund for me yet.

    • +1

They refunded me $425 but this was via live chat after my account had already been closed.

  • Can anyone tell me their experience with using the lounge passes? If your flights is broken into 2 flights ie flying back to UK, is the pass only for the one airport or for the entire trip?

    • You can only use it for one eligible airport, but you can bring a +1 into it with you.

      • Thanks. And the plus 1 counts as the other pass? So both annual passes will be used? Also i have never been to a pre flight lounge. What does one consist off?

        • No, you can use 1 pass to get in and bring a +1 using the same pass.

          https://www.qantas.com/au/en/qantas-experience/at-the-airpor…

There are eligible criteria for the guest.

          • @CodeXD: Thank you, just looking at it now. Daft question but do you have to be flying with Qantas or their affiliates to be able to use their lounge?

            • @JJ29: Yes you can only link your qantas FF pass to a qantas flight

          • @CodeXD: Are you sure CodeXD? No specific mention of a +1 with a “complimentary” pass. Haven’t travelled for a while since Covid, but it never use to work that way. Happy to be corrected.

            • @Coops1: Yep, I'm sure you can bring a guest.

When I used the pass last month it asked if I had people travelling with me.

            • +1

              @Coops1: See my comment above.

  • +1

i just called anz then (spent 45 mins on hold) and they are processing a pro rata refund of the annual fee for me totalling $308

    • How long have you had it?

      • since august 20th this year
