Humm90 Platinum Mastercard: $400 Cashback after $4000 Spend in 60 Days, $9.95/Month Fee ($0 for First 12 Months)

674
400BACK

While searching for a credit card and found this on Finder.

https://www.finder.com.au/credit-cards/humm-credit-cards/hum…

From Finder website:

Offers $400 back, $0 monthly account fees for the first 12 months, long interest-free offers and no foreign transaction fees on purchases.

The humm90 Mastercard offers one of the longest interest-free periods for everyday purchases. It gives you up to 110 days interest-free from the start of each statement period, which is much longer than the 44 or 55 days offered by most other cards. But keep in mind that the 26.3% p.a. purchase rate is much higher than most cards on the market. Exclusive offer: If you’re a new customer, you can currently get $400 back when you apply via Finder by 13 April 2025, use the code 400BACK and spend $4,000 on eligible purchases in the first 60 days.

Seems a decent cashback deal if you are about to go on holidays (and can spend $4K within 60 days) as this has no international transaction fees - instead using the no fx fees CC from Bendigo, Bankwest, etc.

Mod Edit 14/4: Offer extended to 11:59pm AEDT on 27/04/2025

Is there a rewards program on this card?

    • Exactly what I was going to ask

      • +1

Did you click through and check the provider's site?

        • -3

I didn't think of doing that!
After doing that click and reading the text, it appears: no. No reward program from what I can see, but if you hit the $4000 in 60 days, the $400 cashback and longer interest free period and no int transaction fee….

    • -6

WTF how is this a good deal you spend 4k to only get 400 bucks back? screw that.

      • +7

I guess when you live at home with your mum you don't have to pay for food and bills?

          • @kungfuman: Many people have bigger families to raise

          • +2

@kungfuman: Sorry to hear mate, unreservedly.

To put it mathematically, most of the people on this site would be spending that easily in a month. You can't compare it to a deal where you get 10% off gift cards because this no restrictions, so it's literally free money for the vast majority of people

      • +1

$2000 is only less than $70 per day. If you really can't fathom spending that you must not live in the real world or have most of the things in your life paid for by others.

        • -5

you should try being single and being on keto then see how much money you save on food because most of the time you are fasting and not eating. Add solar and off the grid power systems to that, also add EV to that so no fuel cost, no loans not credit cards, so if you way all that up its way less than 70 a day, and that's the real world.

          • +2

@kungfuman: Yes because you don't spend any money thanks to paying all of this stuff upfront (probably by a generous benefactor) it means it must be totally beyond the realm of imagination that others are not in your fortunate situation. Imagine paying for things with credit lol.

            • -1

@boomslung: so going back to the point 4000 for 400 return is a bad investment. and not worth it.

              • +1

@kungfuman: If you kept that $4000 in fixed deposit in the bank you would not get any products or services and would still only get a return of about $182 in a YEAR. You can also decide what to spend on and can easily bring forward your spending and buy the things you need in bulk to accommodate the $4,000 budget in 2 months.

It's a pretty good deal and you don't have to jump through hoops. You also get 12 months of 110 day credit without any fee which means you can keep your fixed deposit in the bank or investments for longer on somebody else's dime(if every thing checks out).

It's not a bad deal because you can't understand effective use of resources. The grapes are always sour if you don't want to spend to rent a ladder.

                • -1

@boomslung: If you put 4K in to etf’s you will double or triple your money with in a week. Stock market is a great place.

          • +1

@kungfuman: Excellent advice, had never crossed my mind. I will leave my wife and kid and try it out. Will get back to you in a few months.

            • @Gary Gary Gary: Let's just agree that this product is not designed for Pandaman.

      • Can you show me where else you can get 10% off my next $4k? Would love to know

  • +11

    Looks good.

Eligible card spend transactions do not include cash advances, balance transfers, Long-term Finance purchases, IKEA card swipe transactions over $250 and Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT).

Strange that they are targeting Ikea in particular.

    • +12

Because Humm has payment plan arrangement with IKEA

  • +1

is this a credit card or a bnpl program?

    • +1

Mostly a credit card. But BNPL type features for some retailers.

      Interest Free1 Benefits
Get up to 110 days Interest Free1 on everyday purchases in-store & online

Get up to 60 months Long Term Interest Free2 with our humm90 retail partners.

  • +8

Their customer service is appalling. Be warned

    • do you have any experience to share? I hope it won't be difficult to cancel the card

      • +1

As difficult as NAB or ANZ - send them an email or message

They screwed up the direct debits twice and argued with me about it but then conceded they were wrong each time. Oh they charged me a late fee each time that’s why I called up to get it credited. Funnily enough last December they sent an apology email and gave me $85.57. They must have been busted and had to remediate.

Cancelling was easy enough I recall. I thought I had to call. You could lower your credit limit online for sure but can’t be sure for cancelling.

Sorry I’m a bit dark on them. I wouldn’t bother card slutting with them for $400

        • +3

It is actually a legal requirement that all credit cards can be cancelled online. So yes it can be cancelled online/via the app (Link in comment above)

  • Got rejected. :(

    • -2

      For good reason I'd assume

      • 🤷‍♂️
Maybe they don't like churners, not that I have churned anything for a while.

        • +1

I got approved despite having some churn tendencies and a not-sky-high income. Who knows what red flag quirks they have.

          • @pork: Did you get an email with the key facts stating

            “Monthly fee $9.95
New customers who enter into their Credit Contract on or after 1 October 2024.
Existing customers to be transitioned on a rolling basis.”

            • +2

@cryptos: Yes, but I took a screenshot of the 400BACK offer page that said the monthly fee didn't apply for 12 months.

I assume the email is a generic one that their system generates during the application process, and it's poorly tuned to their special offers.

  • And how do you pay off this card?

  • +12

They are asking for a lot of info including biometric data…
    Isn't it too much for 400 $

You consent that your behavioural biometric data and information about your personal devices used to access Humm90 services (including operating system, brand, model, browser, network connection, information about applications installed on your device and session data) may be used and provided to a third party

    • +1

Seems that it's not mandatory to download the app, if that helps.

    • +2

I understand that behavioural biometrics includes things like mouse tracking etc for fraud protection. I’m not an expert but apparently our mouse movements, pauses, speed etc are pretty good at identifying whether it is actually us using internet banking or not. Not sure if that also applies to using an app. Lots of banks do it but their privacy policies might be a bit opaque about it.

      • Sounds like a perfect technique on paper, but in reality still lots of scammer/hackers successfully fool the banks

        • -1

          Nothing’s perfect.

    • +30

Just a heads up on this as I'm a 10+ year mobile app and web developer working in finance and enterprise:

Almost every service you use will have a similar disclaimer to this. Many apps will record various forms of analytics from telemetry (their system health, what data goes in and out, how long their services are up for etc) and observability (your user journey including taps, where you went, where you didn't go go etc)

Most companies will use a provider for this tooling like Google Firebase, Google analytics, mix panel, segment, adobe etc. this is the "third party provider"

I can almost tell you for certain it's, any service worth its weight, will be recording something about you. This is to build their analytics and build new features informed by data or remove features that aren't used.

Specifically around device data, this is very easily retrievable and is not PII (personally identifiable information). The line about "behavioural biometric data" is a poorly worded one. I'm assuming they are referring to observability I mentioned before. Your actual biometry data (Face ID, Touch ID etc) is locked away on your phones Secure Enclave and cannot be accessed from any app.

Whether a company then sells that data onto another company like a marketing firm is a separate issue. Some companies will say it more obvious than others, some don't sell it but still need to say your data goes to different providers as they use third party tooling.

What I'm basically saying is every company does this. Some will say it more obvious than others. But don't let collecting data be the hill you die on because so many systems you already use are already doing it. I can guarantee you OzB has similar things going on.

      • very informative, thanks for sharing. I've always been curious about some of the telemetry elements my systems were measuring

  • Is there any complimentary insurance (eg. travel, medical, etc.) with this card ?

  • 110 days a lot, damn

    • I guess that's their selling point of this card.

  • +1

seems like a churn and burn type deal - why would a credit card provider market their product like that?

    • +2

Same with every credit card, if you pay it off on time and are sensible, you make a profit.

But a significant enough portion will wind up paying 26% interest. If they miss payments they won’t be able to find someone to churn to. And people will do that, they’ll spend money they don’t have to hit the $4k spend and “save” money.

      • tempted to buy and get amazon GCs @ 10% off, i've gone through the ones from the giftcard.com deal from yesteryear.

  • +12

In the past these clowns required you to login to your online banking through their website and let them scan all your transaction history on all your accounts as part of the credit check process. If this is still the case then I would not recommend.

Customer service was appalling. Worst part during my application was that their employees did not know the process themselves. Their call center seems to be based in Philippines and everyone I spoke to gave me a different answer. One of them made me send all of the documents via email then another said they never received the documents on the email. So I sent all again then they went quiet for a few days. Only when I called to follow up and spoke to 3 different people, I was told that I have to login to my internet banking via their website and let their system scan my transaction history. It's unsafe, waste of effort and time plus bad practice!

    • thanks for sharing!

  • +9

They will ask for your bank account login during application process, deny that, instead send following up email with documents to [email protected]

    • Did u get approve this way . I got conditional approval and sent them payslips now an hour ago. See how long they take for formal approval

      • I sent my payslip to that email, got approved ~1h afterward on a Saturday. YMMV of course.

  • +1

Yes agree, very poor customer service

  • +1

All the comments about customer service has put me off this card. Hmm, will look at something else as it's time to churn.

    • So fre $400 isnt enough to sway you?

  • +3

Thanks to the OP for posting (I was looking forward to the free $400), however:

    • The woeful customer service experiences reported by others on here and elsewhere; and
    • The requirement to login to banking services, breaching my account security

means this is a strong negative vote from me.

  • +4

BEWARE - Step 4or 5 gets you to log directly into your bank account by typing in your Bank ID and password into the application form.

Realise other members have suggested mailing in bank accouont but this is not immediately apparent

    • I emailed them two recent payslips and got approved within a few hours

      • Mate i have emailed them my payslips after a conditional approval this morning on application itself. You know how long they take to action and send formal appproval. I notice all there emails are going to junk

    • -1

This is likely via the Yodlee API (open banking) so would be safe, but it means a robot assesses your transaction history and spending habits. Mucks up if you move money between accounts lots.

  • Hi, since this is 110 day interest free period, which you can use your savings to offset your owner occ interest rates, this seems like a great card for people who can pay the full closing balance? Is my assumption correct in saying that I can use 110 day interest free period to my advantage?

Currently have a 7k monthly mortgage and run all my expenses via CC which has 55 day interest free period. If I can park my money for another 50 days in my offset and then pay this credit card, this seems like a awesome CC?

Is my thought process correct ?

    • sound about right, but you need to account for the $10 monthly fee, see if getting another 2 months of interest free worth it.

  • Any other credit card recommendations since people haven't had a good experience with this one?

  • -1

Since this has no foreign fees, would this be better to use overseas compared to the Wise Card? I heard Wise uses the mastercard rate

    • +1

Wise card is no longer cheapest

    • +1

Wise uses their own rate and also has their own conversion fees.
Any other card that has no international transaction fees and uses the market MC/Visa rate will be better than Wise for overseas spending (most of the time)

Wise is better for other things like sending and managing money overseas or foreign exchange.

    • wise card is a debit card… this is a credit card

  • But almost every good card has a montly fee or annual fee. I run all my expenses through CC which is avg 8k a month, so leaving that money for almost 3.5 months sounds like a good idea in theory.

  • Any reason not to get the $400 and close the account 3 months in?

    • Only if you want to make full use of 1yr of no annual fee on a non reward card.

  • +4

The application process for this card is suspicious as hell. They wanted me to sign into my bank account. No way was I going to do that and give them our login details.

My credit score is in the highest category with Equifax etc, we hardly owe anything on our home loan & have full time income with zero other debts outside the small home loan, but they declined me and I'd assume as it's due to me choosing to input everything manually. Probably don't like people like me with very low debt. Maybe they are just after people who can't pay them back? Makes sense with the 27% interest rate it showed.

I guess they made the right decision as I was just going to use them for the $400 and then leave, so I don't blame them not wanting people who manage their debt properly.

Good luck to the rest on here who apply. Wouldn't be giving them login details however to your bank.

    • -1

Pretty common practice when submitting documents for homeloan via brokers. Brokers portal always ask you to llogin to the bank via their portal to get the balance etc automatically lol

      • +2

I got my home loan about 8 years ago & was a mortgage broker in my previous career (Admittedly now over 10 years ago). We never did this back then where I worked.

Really uncomfortable with any financial institution having login details to another one. Accepting statements you print and scan really should be sufficient.

        • -1

You can either login into your bank account or submit your payslips via email.

          • @yayo321: You are not logging into your bank. You are giving your banking details to a third-party who will then impersonate you to login to your bank. That's quite a difference to what you have claimed.

      • Anyone who logs in to a third-party portal with their banking details, is a fool.

Taking such an action almost certainly places you in breach of the terms and conditions of your bank.

Good luck getting your money back when you suffer an account breach.

        • -1

Can’t you just change your internet banking password immediately after?

    • Hi mate, I just had the exact same thing happen to me, high credit rating, never missed any payment, have high income and minimal debt, expenses.

Worried the decline might affect my future credit applications.

      • +1

Unless you’re planning to get a home loan in next 6 months or so, I wouldn’t worry too much.

Including this deal, got two rejections in last 6 months or so, but got approved with other bank without any problem

      • +1

Worried the decline might affect my future credit applications.

It might or it might not, depending on the criteria used by the credit provider.

  • Do they do a credit enquiry on your file?

    • It is a credit card, so yes.

      • Can anybody who has applied for this card advise what 'provider type' shows up on their credit file? I.e. 'Credit card' or 'buy now pay later'.
        Thanks!

  • -1

    Given there is no international
transaction fees for this card, and no annual/monthly fee for the first year, but a longer interest-free (110 days) period, would it be better than the Bendigo Breeze credit card? (But Bendigo has travel insurance if you spend $500 prepaid expenses before travel.)

  • Anyone been approved by submitting docs instead of logging into banking portal?.
I've churned through so many CCs I'm considering this one. I don't think I have the patience to deal with ANZ's Bangalore credit card muppets.

    • +2

applied and got approved in 30 minutes. sent payslips via email and didnt go through the sign in portal for bank statement.

      • Do you have access the digital card to use immediately?

        • +2

          Yes

          • @XedeX: How do you use the digital card immediately? I had downloaded the app and the card was activated but I can't view the full card details; I can only see the last 4 digits and the expiry date. I chatted with support and they told me that I need to wait for the physical card to be able to activate it.
They have no idea about what they were talking.

            • @yayo321: Actually you're right. didn't notice this earlier. Just saw the card in app and assumed its ready to use. I can't find the full card details too.

  • Few years ago I had this card, will i still be eligible for the $400? It doesn't mention anywhere in the T&C

  • How to confirm that this offer has been applied. I cant see anything on the documents I got after approval.
