Far better value elsewhere, $500+ value easy to achieve and should be the threshold unless churners are on every 12 month waitlist…

    • +2

yeah but almost everybody has a paypal account - so seemed easier to me.
I'm sick of all the separate banks, separate ID checks, and paper mail and cards I forgotten about from random banks and yes 12 month waitlists from the existing ones

When you talk about 'value', its a free $275 as I don't not repay / spend any fees on the cards. So the input is my time/effort. So I take offers from companies I already do business with once eligible again instead of signing up to new ones

you know you don't need to sign up for a bank account to pay off your credit card balance? you're doing it wrong lol

where's your posts then cook99? - not going to put the effort in?

Last ones we had on here that were just free money (paypal can be redeemed as paypal money) that doesn't require an annual card fee were:
      - $200 Amex cash back - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/682103
      - 10,000 Amex bonus points that was 'Targeted' https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/681951
      - $150 ING - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/679891
      - $100 Citibank - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/679339
      - $400 Kogan but 'new customers only' - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/677219 … and its Kogan

Annual fee is irrelevant if points/rebates offset it, all about the net profit.

        • 180k altitude rewards no longer get $800
          I think it's $600 something when i tried it

@hhbb555: Altitude $250 Annual Fee Rebate
            50,000 points

            Altitude $150 Annual Fee Rebate
            30,000 points

Despite their site saying you can only redeem one it works multiple times, even their phone support said it works fine.

Sadly wifey took $500 gift cards and I got $450 statement credit with remaining

            • @cook99: is annual fee rebate works the same as cashback - since i have no annual fee to pay i wonder what would happen if i redeem for annual fee rebate

              • +1

                @hhbb555: Yes straight up cashback.
My fee was $49 and I received $450 in cashbacks

        • Whilst you do have a point with the net profit over fees provided you are guaranteed to get the money and remember to cancel - I'm always skeptical that they are going to give the cashback/points so I've always avoided anything but cards with no fees.
I see a no fee card as a different category - zero risk. Just sign up, buy things with it, then get free money. Pay the bills on time then cancel when ready, or not, doesn't matter as it doesn't cost anything to keep in reserve for if needed.

As for those others, thanks for the info, but is only one of those posted on OzB (Qantas Points that I don't tend to do and NAB that I've applied with in recent times) If there's a free $800+ on offer, why not?

Incredibly hard to spend the rewards points at "thousands of eligible PayPal businesses!"

      Good luck with that.

    International Transaction Fee of 3.4%

    • -7

What's international travel? can't remember that.
Can buy overseas online and pay on paypal in AUD with paypal credit card without an international transaction (but their usual paypal fees)

Kind of missing the point of just signing up for free, spending $3000, getting $291.50 in rewards points, spending that via paypal, then cancelling. Doesn't have to be international to achieve that.

      • +4

        PayPal has terrible exchange rates.

      • I think you're missing jv's point…

  • PYPL $120 and down

    • Braintree with a data breach too!

50000 points for $275. So 181 points for every $1. It’s 1 point per dollar spend, so $181 for every $1 reward, meaning it’s 0.55% cash back in value. Better cards elsewhere I think.

    • I'm assuming you get the normal points earn plus 50,000 extra points = It's a $3000 spend which I believe it is 50,000 bonus points + 3,000 normal points = 53,000 points = $291.50, so $291.50 / $3000 = 9.717% return on spend.

I don't care for the usual rewards point earn, I have other cards for that once the bonus is over.

Yeah as a intro profit it’s fine. Just thought others may be interested in the long term prospects.

Issued by Citibank? Seriously Scotty needs to talk to them about issuing ozb credit cards

    • I thought Citibank is selling credit card business to nab.

  • I hv the card but it seems that it takes 28xxx points to redeem for $100 worth… Don't know how to get $275 value fr 50000 points.

    • really? that's interesting to know.

Would not bother with PayPal - and could you imagine disputing anything? Wouldn’t be surprised if it jeopardises your whole account

  • It used to be a great company but now too clumsy. There is a reason others downvote it too.

    • +1

      agree with you

      • Yeah I've heard people say bad things but I've never had a problem.
Use it constantly and they've helped me with two disputes with third parties recently quite well, both went in my favour. Maybe cause I spend not sell

  • Have anyone try to redeem the reward point ? I have about 59,000 reward point. What is the best way to redeem them ? TIA

    • I'm about to pay with points on some transactions on our statement. 181 points per dollar. I don't think there is any other better option. As per the original value 50,000 = $275. Nothing has changed.

Shady company, will freeze your money on a whim with no legal grounds. This offer is laughable compared to what's available to churners. Even if I was on a 12 month wait for all other cards I would not apply for this.

  • Worst company and customer service ever. I signed up last year for same offer. Got approved and spend more than the amount. I was told the 50000 points are applied to my account. They never linked the card to my account. I called at least 20 times, send emails to every link I could find for Paypal and citibank. They never got back or fixed the issue. I get an email every 1 to 2 weeks saying they are still investigating the issue need more time and it will fixed within 2 weeks. This happened like 6 times. Then I had to cancel it to get a home loan so basically lost the 50000 points.
