I'd rather trust Western Union than kogan with my money

Kogan is just a rebrand, it's a Citibank Visa card.

Kogan is SHIT and NO customer service after you buy.

      • bought heaps of stuff from them over the years, everytime I had a problem, it was promptly fixed and items replaced. So yeah, I guess you get mixed experienced with any large retailer.

        • Likewise. Each time rectified problem.
A fair few items have been poorly made or poor quality.

      • i’ve had stuff refunded before, had to send a video of the fault first

Have been using this card since it was introduced and absolutely love it. The card offers great value in terms of points when you redeem through Kogan and the complimentary membership is definitely very handy when you buy things from Kogan. Their app, customer service and delivery have all improved significantly. Had product broken down and Kogan offered immediate replacement with no questions asked.

    • So far this year I have had
Dreame V10 replaced (whole package) when just the roller head broken down. Had to send back the whole vac with all accessories with their return label.
Galaxy Watch Actice 2 refunded (third party seller on Kogan Marketplace). They tried to refund me with Kogan credit, I said no and they issued refund via original payment method.

    • +1

Agreed. The best free annual credit card on the market. Even when you pay on the site with credits they give you a further 1% back in more reward credits and you can even go through velocity estore to double up on velocity points. I spent $700 last year on the Kogan site with reward points and got great value, thanks to Kogan posts on Ozbargain.

      • Also in the agreed camp. I got this when they had the spend $500 in 30 days to get $500 deal a while back and it got me an official refurb Mavic Pro fly more kit for $499. The only thing I had to buy from Kogan was the drone and that was the whole point. No fees.

        • I remember that one, that was the best deal this card has ever offered, regret jumping on the bandwagon too soon.

  • Can I buy $1500 worth of rapid antigen tests please

  • Kogan + Citibank = Harvey Norman

    • +3

      Kogan + Citibank + Harvey Norman = ???

      • Soon to be Kogan + nab, at least the colour of their logos are all black + red.

      • eBay Plus

      • 2 Harvey Norman

Please don't support the dodge central that is Kogan.

There are much much much better reward cards out there.

    • +2

This is fine too apply for, take their $400 and close immediately.

      • +2

Is $400 worth a hard credit enquiry? Credit cards as always comes with consequences and thus should be treated as such.

        • +2

For those on waiting period with Amex, ANZ, Westpac, Qantas, St George… Yeah worth it to me, but unfortunately I'm not eligible as I churned 3 @ $500 free credit each before they changed the terms to exclude anyone who ever held the card.

I've had over a dozen hard credit enquiries over the last 2 years with no consequence. Since the credit rules changed recently those hard checks don't hurt your score nearly as much as they now take into account payment history and other factors, not just the enquiry.

Don't get me wrong, Kogan is scum, but I don't see an issue costing them money here.

        • +1

The paranoia here about credit enquiries in an era of CCR is silly.

    • Much much better reward cards = examples?

Looking for reduced/low annual fee and high point bonus offer. Any recommendations?

This is about as good as it gets but you need to be wanting to travel. Think long term, travel doesn't need to happen now. If you calculate the 120,000 at the very lowest possible redemption rate you get $1200 worth of Qantas points. Spend it wisely and you can get much much more. Recently there were $12,000 Sydney to London first-class seats available for 120,000 points.

        • Good card, I agree
Shame I already have an AMEX card :(

          • @ilikedeals: ANZ? 100k is the target.

            • @Nand0sx: Closed the ANZ travel rewards card about 10 months ago so gotta wait to churn 🥲

          • @ilikedeals: Cancel your existing AMEX card and get this one.

            • @Euthyphro: Sorry was replying to Nan0sx in that they suggested I get the Qantas AmEx Ultimate (in link above) but I already have an AMEX card.

Yeah thinking about getting the Kogan one except I don’t even shop at Kogan 😂

    • +1

If anything, churning a Kogan card is the best thing to be doing to them.
Literally taking their money and spending it on Kogan's own items with no out of pocket expense to me.

Took this out, bought a robotic vacuum with $400 off which was great.

      No qualms about it.

"If you have previously held a Kogan Money Credit Card, you will not be eligible for this offer."

Unfortunately not even a lockout period for this like the standard 12 or 18 months.

    • Where you read that

      • +1

It's buried deep in the terms and conditions. The about was a copy/paste

        • Did you apply? Any chance they wouldn't realise?

          • @sween64: No I didn't apply, in certain their systems would pick it up

  • Got declined a month ago

Just signed up to Suncorp no problem, and also to ANZ a year or so ago

Not sure why I got declined

  • As much as I hate Kogan as a company, I have this card and it is great.

Hard to find a no annual fee card with any rewards. (I rarely travel, even before covid, so not interested in any frequent flyer programs/points).

I use the card for all spending and pay off in full each month. The rewards points pay for random gifts or small items throughout the year. Now that Kogan operates as a marketplace, not just their own crap, it’s much better as points can be used to pay for marketplace items and you still get the free shipping I believe.

  • Good card if you can get on this deal. I had it before

The section on the bottom "View all important information"

"This offer is for new Kogan Money Credit Card customers only and cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotions or offers. If you have previously held a Kogan Money Credit Card, you will not be eligible for this offer."

This needs to be added to the description.

Do you have to spend the 1500 on the Kogan website? Or can you spend it anywhere (excluding usual cash advance etc)

    • Any where

  • Dumb question: What counts as eligible spending, and does that vary much from card to card? (The terms and conditions just list a few excluded things, but surely it's not that simple). Is there a quick way to find out if a prospective purchase counts or not?

It's a long story but a family member needs specialist surgery to cut some cancer out (we caught it real early thankfully) but the private surgeon's costs are >$10,000, due in a couple weeks. I can pay it outright with savings, but if I can get a bunch of cards with these spend X in the first month deals and cover it that way, it would cut the cost significantly.

    • I am sure that counts as a purchase, I myself has paid surgery fees a few times and all were treated as standard purchases.

    • For the Kogan $400 credit, BPAY and government payments are considered eligible purchases based on the t&c provided by oz-sam above.

But for Kogan reward points, BPAY and government payments are excluded as eligible purchases based on Kogan credit card t&c.

If you get invoiced by a public hospital for the bed it might be considered a govt payment.

I have this card and was slapped with international transaction fees even when the website have prices in Australian dollars when shopping online. I even got charged when I paid through PayPal Australia.

I know this is an issue right now where it is impossible for consumers to tell which website processes payments within or outside of Australia and credit cards do have the right to charge those fees based on their T&Cs, but I am very sure other cards certainly has some leeway with this rule. For example I bought from the same exact merchant using ANZ's reward card with the same chargable international fees in their T&Cs as Kogan and paid through PayPal. ANZ did not charge me any international fees but this Kogan card did. Just goes to show Kogan will be ruthless and will squeeze every cent they can from you and hopefully you will not resist. I kicked up a fuss about this and finally got those fees refunded but took many months for that to happen.

    • yea its annoying, it seems any transaction processed outside australia gets charged the fee, no matter what the currency is.

i posted in the previous deal thread checking to see if anyone has received their $400 credit. Seems like no one has gotten it yet months after spending on the card. Any existing cardmembers care to comment on whether they've gotten their $400 credit and how what the lead time was for it to be processed?

    • +1

I signed up when it was posted last year, did the minimum spend and received the credits on the same day I received my first statement.

      • I had applied quite a number of citi-backed credit cards in the past and had the same experience as you.

  • Applied on Sunday and got approved today. Will apply the citi premier quantas 3 months from now.. thank you op

  • I advise you not to get this card. There is nothing good about this company.
This company's customer service is insufferably obnoxious, impatient, and not the brightest. It is my worst nightmare.

    • Care to share the story?

      • Incident 1 - I couldn't log in and no matter how I explained it over chat, the rep did not understand. I wanted to speak to her so I could explain better which she refused, offered to email a screenshot which too didn't bode well. It was just because of an update but that took us three days to figure out.

Incident 2 - When I asked whether BPAY was considered a cash advance, I got two different answers. There was no acknowledgement when I confronted them.

Incident 3 - I forgot I had autopay set up and paid my card in full. My bank account was credited two days later. My complaint was ignored and I was advised not to do a transfer if there's autopay. I did not receive a refund. Totally flabbergasted.
