I got the cheapo craftright masonary multi pack in the little orange box for about 10 bucks, there fine for sticking wall plugs in around the house. Also got the 100pc multipack titanium craftright in the slim black box for wood/metal for 20 bucks, same story, fine for diy use.

      • I bought the latter and the only issue I ran in to was I used all of the (from memory) 3.2mm bits cos I used hem a lot, and now I need more of just those. Probably would have been better off, they should sell more packs with the bit, matching plug and matching screws for our convenience

    • +7

I would start with a big cheap set, and then anything you use long enough to break replace with something good. I usually buy anything that's $5-$10 per bit for regular screws, but still go back to my 100 piece Craftright set when I need to do something unusual.

  • Thanks!

  • Thank you, perfect timing was going to grab a new drill for around the house. With 2x batteries (3yr) warranty and fast charger this is perfect timing to get into the PXC echo system..

    • +10

      …..PXC echo system….. system

      • Haha, eco, eco eco… it was before 8am so I get some leniency

    • It's two 1.5 A/hr, they also come in 2.5 and 4.0 A/hr.

      • +1

They also come in 2.0Ah and 3.0Ah although the latter aren't sold separately.

Also, it's not "A/hr", but Ah just so you know :)

        • I think they discontinued the 3ah, I bought he last one from my local on clearance for 20 bucks

1.5 is a bit small for masonary drilling, I killed a battery before using one that small. I would prefer if they gave me one 2Ah like the Aldi kit, or larger

  • +1

Thanks OP. I've been looking for an in to the Ozito PXC ecosystem. This is perfect.

  • +4

    Purchased thanks.
Man I have become an impulse buyer in Covid. I just followed the OzB community and bought this. Hope I bought the right thing. Don't have a mechanised drill / driver at home…..

  • Thanks OP, bought one.

  • +11

    Started my day $75 poorer

  • I read drills benefit from a larger battery. Is there any benefit other than run time with having a larger battery than the provided 1.5ah on this brushless drill?

    • +4

It will feel stronger for longer, you will notice it struggle to get through materials when the battery gets a bit low.
Weight in the hand can be an issue for some so I use all sizes of batteries depending on task.

    • +5

more of an issue with something like an impact wrench which can generate more torque with bigger batteries in many cases

    • You won't feel any difference when fully charged, although technically the voltage drops a bit when the battery gets used and the capacity gets lower. Buy this and wait for another Aldi price match with a 4Ah battery. You can then flog the tool that comes with the battery on Gumtree.

  • legend! Just bought a new battery which I hadn't unboxed yet. Will be returning and got this! Very happy - thanks OP

The quality and performance for Ozito is a bit lacking compared to the better known trade brands such as bosch, Dewalt, AEG, Milwaukee but they are alright around the house. The warranty and bunnings team is generally pretty good to deal with. I own the ozito 5 piece combo bought 3year ago and had to have the batteries replaced, the cordless drill (motor burnt out drilling into 16mm melamine with a hole saw for the laundry anti flood device) and the impact driver had its led cover pop off. Batteries are now out of warranty but atleast the tools have another 2 years of warranty. I normally just use the ozito as a back up for working around the house and mainly use my Milwaukee combo as it out performs the ozito in every way. I have an Old cordless Triton that I bought from the failed Masters (Woolworth join venture) and they do an alright job finish the hole that burnt out the ozito. You get what you pay for in power tools. But for 75 bucks, fast charger, 2 battery and brushless motor plus the 5 year warranty it is a good deal just don't expect it to perform on the same level as trade tools.

    • +1

Yes, comparing ozito to trade tools is like comparing a 20k car to a 80k car.

  • Is this 18v or 20v ?

    • +9

Its the same thing, 18 volts nominal = 20 volts max when fully charged, its just marketing because 20 is a bigger number than 18

      • Thanks legend

      • +2

Just to add to foonman, it's mostly country centred labelling. Aus (and most of the world) went the the 18V stickers and the North Americans went the 20V stickers for marketing.

        • Thanks, i have ordered 1 for click and collect 😋🙏

  • Thanks op!

Can someone help link me to a set of drill bits that might be useful over time? I just moved into my first house. Doesn't have to be Bunnings. It will need to be used on brick at some stage as well. TY.

    • +4

For the brick, get a proper masonry bit. Brand doesn't matter too much, but you will get what you pay for. For other bits, buy a cheap set as big as your requirements will be broad - if you're going to do a lot of different things, get a 100 set of cheap Craftright or equivalent. Then, if you use any enough to break them, replace them with something better. With almost all the bits at Bunnings you get what you pay for.

      • Thank you

    • +3

Small tip as well, but when doing brickwork watch some YT tutorials first since there are a bit more nuances compared to timber.

      • Thank you, will definitely look before I drill brick

    • Aldi often sells drills of various types…wood, Masnory/brick etc. They are cheapest ones. Try those ones.

      • Do they fit Ozito drills?

        • +2

It's a drill bit. It fits every drill (it's a round metal tube), unless you have an SDS drill, then you need SDS drill bits.

Anything 10mm and under will fit

          • @pformag: Good to know

    • +3

Craftright from bunnings. Cheap and will last for a few renos.

      • Exactly what i ended up grabbing. Thank you.

  • Did not need this at all but having 2 batteries, brushless & zip pay have swayed my weak hands. Hard to pass up more than 55% off

  • +3

This deal is still on if one wants the impact driver as well:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/644049
Ozito PXC 2 Piece 18V Brushless Drill & Impact Driver Kit $149
    includes 4ah battery

    • I'm not sure if that one is a hammer drill

      • I think you are right..

  • Newbie question: what bits should I buy with this? Plan on using it around the house for odd jobs only. Edit: I see this was answered above.

  • Bought this Ozito drill driver kit from a deal posted here back in December 2017 and have never used it. Better resist the urge to impulse buy again.

    • +2

But this drill has even better spec for not using…

  • Do I need this

    • +1

      Buy it First, think later.
      Even perfect gift for anyone.

  • +4

heads up I've heard they won't honour warranty if purchased using a powerpass card as they're not for trade use.

    • Correct

  • Thanks OP, picked one up. Got the 5pc kit around Father's day, but this drill + 2 batteries + charger was too hard to pass up. So far, my Ozito PXCs haven't missed a beat!

  • Got one as well. Will be returning one that I bought a few weeks ago for $99. Lucky haven’t used it yet!

  • Noob question: What would be the difference between this Hammer Drill and the PXC 18V Brushless Drill & Impact Driver Kit

    • +2

hammer drill is a all-in-one solution and a bit more capable of masonry work (brick/stone), where as the drill and driver combo is great if you're doing a lot of fititng and timber work where you are pumping out a ton of holes and fasteners and you don't want to keep switching bits etc.

tldr. if you're only using them for jobs under 30mins get the hammer drill

    • that kit includes only 1 battery but it's 4ah. also that drill seems slightly better as a drill but has no hammer function.

      • Is the drill different to this deal? Also can I use this drill as an impact driver or should I get the drill and impact driver set?

        • +1

yes it's different. what are you planning to use it for?

          • @[Deactivated]: Pulled the trigger on the drill on the basis of it having the hammer function. No use case just yet for impact driver but was just wondering which was better value.

  • It's all out of stock and cannot even use the delivery option.

    • +4

      store dependant.

      • Checked all stores around my home and no luck. There is no delivery available as well.

    • +1

find a store in your state with stock, and then get it it delivered from there

  • Noo! I just realised I needed a hammer drill yesterday for my retractable hose.

  • Time to retire my old smoking Bosch I suppose!

  • Thanks OP, got one from the Padstow Store.

  • +2

Bought it from this deal (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/578816) last year for $99.

    • Is this the same product as this deal?

      • +1

        yes, same item - PXBHK-120

  • What's the regular price of this item? Does the Aldi one better? https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/special-buys-sat-25-…

It's all sold out in stores near my home and no delivery as well. I am thinking if I should wait for the next deal or get Aldi one instead.

    • +2

at least with Bunnings you can walk in and get an exchange if it breaks. also many more compatible tools available and available every day.

stock checker isn't always the most accurate, could try going in or calling and asking them to check the shelves.

      • It's just strange that the delivery option isn't available.

        • shows $14 delivery for me. where are you located?

          • @[Deactivated]: in Sydney metro area. I can see the delivery cost is $10 but you will notice that the second half page says the item cannot delivery or click collect.

            • @HappyBargainer: are you in an lga of concern? could be lockdown shennanigans. i was able to select delivery to 2790 lithgow no problems.

              • @[Deactivated]: I am not in any LGA. Nothing available for me such as delivery; click and collect.

                • +2

@HappyBargainer: try this, set your store to 2795 Bathurst. add it to cart and select delivery. then put your real address in when you checkout.

                  • @[Deactivated]: Your method actually works except the delivery charge changed from $10 to $14. If I do this way, will the order have an issue of delivery? Thanks

                    • @HappyBargainer: no idea sorry

                      • @[Deactivated]: I ordered one. I found the trick. I need to set the nearest store which has the stock then the delivery option will be available for me. I selected another store which a bit of close than Bathurst. The delivery cost is $10 now. Thanks

              • @[Deactivated]: I'm not in LGA of concern and I can't get it delivered. Might be that the local shops don't have it stocked.

        • +2

Bunnings seems to use the local store stock levels to determine if shipping is available. I bought a drill a month ago and it wasn't available for delivery from my closest bunnings, but it was available from the one a bit further away. When it got delivered the con note showed that it had been shipped from the regional distribution warehouse anyway. Their stock system is a bit stupid.

    • +2

Regular price of the kit is $169.

The brushless hammer drill is $99.

      The fast charger is $34.98.

      One 1.5Ah battery is $24.98

Total value is $183.94 so you normally get 8% off with the kit and a massive 59% off with this deal.

  • Delivered? Or cnc only?

  • +1

Stock is going quickly. When I checked this at 5am all 5 stores near me had stock. At 8:15am one of the stores is out and another is low.

  • Bargain with charger and batteries alone, Ordered one thanks. Every store in Newcastle area has stock :)

  • Going out soon to pick up mine and thanks OP.

  • Thanks Op. Bought 1!

  • +1

I want to buy this because it's cheap, but already have a perfectly fine brushless hammer drill.

Will sit this one out and let someone else have a chance at getting one.

    Enjoy!

  • +1

Gave in to peer pressure and got one.

    • Annnnddd refunded. OOS.

  • Great time to retire my very old corded hammer drill

    • +2

      you mean store for later?
      .

  • Don't really need this must resist.
