probably aldi has something coming up

    Yep

    • Is it better to get the Ozito one or the ALDI FERREX (previously WORKZONE) brand?

I am guessing they are both the same level of quality, except Bunnings has a better returns policy.

You've hit the nail on the head. Unless something at Aldi is way cheaper due to some additional discount, or it's a consumable, go with Bunnings for their ease of exchange.

My few gripes - although the unit does 8-14mm staples/nails its very rare you can actually find nails to fit this gun, unless buying online, which isn't all that helpful when you need them same day. I could only ever find 12 and 14mm staples by Arrow. Also, as expected, its not a very strong gun, it struggles to staple fabric to 12mm thick plywood, 8mm seems to work okay but anything thicker and it spits the dummy. I struggle to recommend it to a hobbyist simply because it only just passes for me in that aspect.

    • Newbie question - what does the thickness of the wood have to do with it? Isn't it just the staple depth that matters?

      • The thicker the wood the more power needed to drive the staple in. In my case the gun couldn't cope with the extra 4mm of wood.

        • @doobey1231 i would have thought the softness/hardness of the wood matters and nothing to do with thickness?

@expertreader: Think of a piece of paper and stapling it in one go. Now 2 sheets, 3 sheets, 10 sheets… 100 sheets - same material, but more force needed for the thicker section.

          • @expertreader: Right and wrong. Right that the type of wood can effect depth, wrong that it has nothing to do with thickness. The thicker any object is the more force is needed to get through it. Both variables need to be considered.

  • Its not best , but i managed to staple new cloth over ikea sofa, fix some floor skirting , mosquito mesh etc

  • What's wrong with manual stapler nail gun?

Nvm… I guess for someone with hand/wrist arthritis, probably better to get an electric one.

    • the reviews ?

      • Mine works just fine, had it for few years, done stapler and T pins, it does jam more at the very last few, not hard for me to unjam it. Probably some were not built correctly, just return faulty ones. It has adjustment knob to control spring force, tune it to your liking.

It is almost 1/3 the price of electric one, and I don't need to run a wire from wall socket to where I want to use which is very convenient.

Got one a year ago for same price, still unopened

  • I got a dewalt one off amazon and I’ve found it to be just as powerful and still easy to use with my bony girl arms. Mine was $60 but i reckon it was worth it as i don’t need to worry about cords

if only the PXC 2 In 1 Cordless Nail And Staple Gun would go on sale….

  • I've got one these. It's fantastic for stapling upholstery onto wooden furniture, and re strapping webbing on dining table seats.
Does not over blow the staples like bigger 18v staple guns.

    • Do you have any tips on reupholstering dining chairs like this?
The black PU material is peeling off, leaving a mess everywhere! Intending to replace with cloth. Bought from Johnnys, which was quite an experience in itself!
I've got to tackle 6 chairs, and no clue how I could curve the cloth at the center? Most videos I've found don't tackle chairs that curve inwards like this.

  • Not related, but overseas I used liquid nails to affix some thin timber to an ugly concrete backyard fence , then using a manual staple gun I stapled some bamboo fencing onto the timber.

Pretty decently sized fence too, worked a treat, and completely transformed the backyard.

I can confirm it will fit the second link, but haven't used the top ones.

      • Thanks

    • T50 staples

  • I picked up one of these today by co-incidence. Didn't realise it was ozbargained.

I have a small upholstery project coming up and I hate the shock from cheap manual staplers and this was cheaper -> needed more accuracy than the manual tacker hammers too

This has a comparison between the wired one and the cordless one (I wasn't sure if there was a newer cordless version that I saw today - non PXC that is)
