Ozito PXC 18V 4.0Ah Compact Battery PPBP-240 - Twin Pack $89 + Delivery ($0 In-Store/ C&C/ OnePass) @ Bunnings

1350

New compact 4.0Ah batteries. I don't know whether this a promotional deal, introductory or permanent, but still a decent price for 2 x 4.0Ah batteries at $89. Especially considering the smaller form factor and slightly lighter weight.

These appear to be a completely new battery and there is no mention of them being sealed.

Looking at Einhell's site, these are called Plus and put out the same 900W as the standard double row 4.0Ah battery. Probably running 21700 cells.

Decent stock levels but not available in all stores.

And for the inevitable Bunnings website weirdness here is the stock number I/N: 0738791 and an alternative search https://www.bunnings.com.au/search/products?page=1&q=ozito+p…

For more info on the battery, here is a link to Einhell's page. https://www.einhell.hr/en/p/4511553-18v-4-0ah-power-x-change…

Thanks OP. Have been waiting for a long time for this. Ferrex has had this for a while, and finally Ozito now offers it. It's less bulky and lighter.

If you have excess batteries or want to reuse some old ones get this unofficial USB 18W / USB-PD 22.5W charger skin and you've got yourself a power bank. Though the price has gone up a couple of dollars recently :(

    • +4

Ozito have their own USB adapter for $17

      https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-usb-power-station_…

      • +3

Only USB-A though and no PD

      • Have the Ozito one, to charge bike lights and computers, where charging speed isn't critical. Works well for this.

    • Having this in my cart for a while. My concern is if it's safe. "Fire" comments are real for some power banks.

      • I wouldn't think so. Normally the issue is the cells in power banks and in this case it's Ozito.

    • +1

If you're handy with 3d printer and some soldering, it's pretty easy to make an ozito to lighter socket.

You can use any usb lighter chargers that can take 12-24V.
This is how I charge my laptop sometimes on the go.

Not the cleanest solution but makes for a good sized modular powerbank for everything.

    • That looks like a nifty device, but there's no way I'm plugging my phone into that.

      • Your loss. You're welcome to go for wwwsam's method above.

        • Thank you no. I'll wait for Ozito to release a USBC option, then wait for a decent discount.

          • @Loopholio: May as well get the current one. It'll be equally slow as the new Einhell USB C.

  • +1

No stock in my area. Great deal though!

Some discussion last week about this.

    • +1

Didn't see that. Only spotted these on the site today.

  • +1

    wow

how did they get 4 amps into a 2.0 amp battery size? probably not 18650s etc.

    also 600g

the old 4.0 amp batteries are so big

    • +3

      4amp 21700 cells.

    • how did they get 4 amps into a 2.0 amp battery size? probably not 18650s etc.

Yeah, want to ask the same question.

      • like elon, they moved from 18650s to 21700 slim line cells

        • How are 21700 slimline? They're 21mm in diameter vs 18mm in 18650s. I wish people would stop talking nonsense.

    • Ah wow, so about the same weight? Pass. The main reason i was looking into these is cos i thought they’d be the same weight as the 2.5ah batts lol

      • +1

so about the same weight? Pass

Yeah, 18650s have an energy density of ~250Wh/ksg while for 21700s that figure is around 300Wh/ksg, so only a 15-20% difference. You can't simply halve the amount of lithium required.

  • Is there an adapter which works seamlessly for these products from different vendors

  • What’s yalls favourite Ozito 18v tool?

I was thinking to get the pole hedge trimmer next , but thinking to just spend a little more on Ryobi (running both brands at home)

    • +3

The Ozito ebike? I don't have it but would like to try it out.

      • +1

Thats actually insanely expensive considering its got no battery

        • Small price to pay for the DRIP

        • +1

i find it funny how the batteries are so cheap and we all have so much of them but many of us do not have a heap of their skins

my dad has a few of their garden stuff

i pretty much only have their own worklights and their brushless drill… both of which are excellent

bunnings should be flooding the market with skins

          • @tonyjzx: I got their work lights , and the heat gun - work lights are great. Heat gun… ehh - better than depending on my old mains powered one I guess.

But yeah looking through the range not sure what else to try other than the weird and wonderful niche ones like coffee maker, just to have a laugh on next worksite I guess.

          • @tonyjzx: they do have cheap skins in brushed, but not as agressive as other brands e.g Aldi in BRUSHLESS. Brushed they bundle in starter packs and great for small DIY, the brushless they seem to do more unbundled which makes it a bigger investment if just starting out or "I will get some dog food, a drill some screws and finally hang that picture when I get home"

    • +1

What’s yalls favourite Ozito 18v tool?

My favourites are probably the drills and LED lights. I have most of the tools (my family jokes I need shares in Ozito, and I am a member of their tool recommendations committee).

I was thinking to get the pole hedge trimmer next

I have the Pole Hedge Trimmer and feel it is underpowered, and it is a bit of a pain to use. Thinking I might get a petrol one. I use it, but still find I need to get on the ladder and use my 36V Ozito Hedge Trimmer to finish it off.

      • +2

It's close between the blower (which has got to be the most used) and the circular saw (contentious maybe, but it's great for thos little jobs where you can't be arsed with the drop saw or are to lazy to move what you want cut).

        • circ saw

Got the 165mm circ saw from Ryobi… still sitting in box sealed lol too many grand plans, not enough time sigh

    • +2

I have the pole pruner (the chainsaw one) and it does the job. I'm thinking of getting the hedger attachment.

      • +1

I got this for $155 from a previous deal and saved me 1000s lol :D I cut down a lot of trees.

    • +3
      • +1

Funny it's sorted under the category of 'Hammer Drills'

      • I do (bought on clearance) and it is okay. It does an okay job.

      • I don't have this one, but I had the Makita coffee maker for years and used it daily. Only sold it as I stopped drinking coffee.

    • +1

I love the brushless impact driver, and also the current model 36v steel deck mower, picked one up with 2 x 4ah batteries on facebook for $300 and its been a revelation

    • +3

The brushless reciprocating saw is amazing, extremely powerful and versatile.

    • +1

I have a fair few, mainly stuff that I use less and aren't going to spend the extra on to buy Makita. I like all of them as they all work just fine and the prices a good. But as for my favourites, I guess the jet bower, pruner, heat gun, random orbital sander and the fan, which gets the most use. But all the rest are good too.

      • +1

        The fan looks fun
        Might get that next cheers

        • +1

Its great, It gets used almost daily in the garage. And the battery lasts for ages, I haven't timed it exactly, but on a 4.0AH it would last about 24hrs on low.

    • +2

Without a doubt the steel deck 36v mower, jet blower, and chainsaw. All great and gotten loads of use. Have many more items too, most are great with a few exceptions.

    • +1

Their small chainsaw pruner on an extension poles for high palm fronds and smallish branches is awesome

Their drills are alright, recip saw was fine and blower does the job.

I'm deep in the ecosystem and cant be convinced another brand is needed. Ego for mowers and stuff would be the only one

      • Got an ego blower as the Ryobi 18v just wasn’t doing it. If you have budget and don’t mind adding a different brand battery it’s awesome

    • +2

      I have (from memory)
      Leaf Blower
Workshop blower (just used for getting campfires roaring)
      Brushed grinder
      Brushless recip saw
      Whipper snipper (red tab one)
      Hedger
      Sander
      18v Chainsaw

These have all been picked up at various ridiculous discounts, rough maths puts the total spent at under $250 and I have got the value out of it all several times over.

Favourite tool is probably the recip saw just because it's so versatile. Was cutting through branches like butter this week.
The chainsaw, while gutless has dismantled trees most would never believe. Amazing value for the $60 I paid for it.

I love my Ozito tools, though have just upgraded my mower to a 56v Ego and am in the market for a line trimmer too.

  • That's such a good price for the compact batteries. Will be useful on my sprayer. The heavier battery makes it unbalanced so this one will be perfect.

  • I hope their double-stack 21700s batteries down the track are designed better for compatibility, unlike Aldi/Workzone/Ferrex.

The Workzone 8Ah battery physically fit in some of my tools, and the internal current limiter (my guess) is too low cos it cuts off often on the mitre saw. And ironically in the opposite fashion it melted the power switch terminal (well the plastic around it) on another tool cos I guess it gave too much current than was designed for.

(Don't get me wrong I like a few of the tools and for them enabling us to get a lot of Ozito deals)

  • any deals for one ?

  • Any deals on Ryobi 18v batteries anyone?

  • Thanks OP Ordered.

  • I'm looking to enter the OzBargain-certified/sanctioned Ozito ecosystem.

Do Ozito often come up with charger and battery deals or 'starter pack' deals? Should I get these now and buy a charger separately, or wait?

    • +1

Often ozito stuff comes with like a 2Ah battery and charger with some deals, though you could wait or a deal on the faster charger to buy solo. I tihnk the benefit for these is just that they're much smaller than the 4Ah and lighter, so giving you longer running times without making them too much harder to wield, especially if you're doing like a big hedge with a trimmer or something - the extra weight adds up when doing it for a while!

    • +2

I gave up ecosystem lock-in becasue I just buy brushless, now have Bosch, Dewalt, Millwaukee, Ozito and Maikta from their various fathers day / christmas/ EOFY starter packs and now just get batteries and skins as needed based on deals.

      • Ditto. Though I dont need brushless for light DIY use now I have ozito, ryobi, Ego and Makita…just pain in the a$$

    • +1

Lol if u put ur location out here someone close likely has a spare charger 🤷

      • Good idea!
        Location: Springfield/Ipswich

    • +1

This deal comes up fairly frequently, a 2.5Ah battery and charger for under $20.
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/875970

    • +1

Wait, deals come up sooo often for starer kits which usually include a fast charger and two batteries, perfect to start out as you can hot swap as you need. Never buy a charger separately because it won't take long til you have more chargers than you need.

  • +2

Sick of all these 4.0ah batteries Ozito, ive got enough! give us some deals on 5.2 or 6.0ah

  • I'm Makita, but i'm looking at gettnig an 18v vac and thinking the ozito might be the go (was tossing up between ozito and ryobi) - does anyone. run the vac on the 4ah batteries? or am I better of going bigger?

    • Ask geekcohen as I am pretty sure he has a couple of Ozito vacs. He has posted here up above.

    • good thing about makita is you can buy copies of their skins and takes the same batteries,

  • +1

Is this Normal RRP or is this actually a special introductory price?

    • +2

I went to pick up a set today and it comes up as a promo on their scanner

  • i got the previous gen 2 pack, still unopened. hope this makes me qualified ozbargainer

    • Just need some time for the new version to price match the old version?

  • I suspect pouch cells. from all the discussion for larger 100ah batteries (prismatic vs pouch), pouch cells are inferior. I wonder if that extends to 18650 cells normally in these?

    • +1

Definitely not pouch cells. Click on the link to Einhell at the bottom of the post and scroll across the pics, shows 5 cylindrical cells, hence my guess at 21700 cells.

      • oh cool! guess it maybe ok then!

      • My guess is also 21700s since they already use them in the larger batteries (ie. 8Ah)
        There's 21700 cells that are above 5Ah so 4Ah cells isn't a surprise.

Not sure what the largest 18650 is but last I checked they more or less reached the maximum (under 4Ah)

  • The hikoki battery adaptor for my Dyson arrived today and I'm less than impressed with the fit. Very wobbly and feels like it's gonna fall out as I'm vacuuming. I might try my luck on Ozito but may have to buy a separate charger
