Aftermarket Ozito PXC Battery Option?

I have a stack of Ozito hardware at home which I use a stack

Recently Ive picked up a Ryobi scarifier and grabbed several aftermarket Ryobi batteries and they are cheap, easy to get and work really well

I cant seem to find aftermarket Ozito suitable batteries, and no-one makes Ryobi battery to Ozito tool adapters (probably due to the shape of the Ryobi battery)

The pricing for genuine Ozito batteries is now pretty high, not that there are ever any in stock at my 2 local stores

Any options would be super!

  • There was someone on Gumtree selling various adapters they had printed, including Ryobi to Ozito a few months ago.

Might be worth a look and a Google.

Also, try sites such as AliExpress for adapters.

Most of the adapter's are for Ozito → Ryobi. To make an adapter Ryobi → Ozito requires butchering a Ryobi tool, is bulky and unwieldy.

      • yep thats what im finding, ive messaged chap from the below post to ask if thats his thoughts also

  • Yes Stevo makes em-many kinds. I bought 2 from him - Ozito battery to Aldi tools, since aldi time to time does good tools special, and Ozito battery to Ryobi tools as I have some Ryobi + ozito stuff.

  • I've been looking for ryobi go other battery adaptors without luck. I'm going to try and make one from a dead line trimmer i have. Don't use aftermarket batteries though, it won't last…

    • What wont last, the batteries? They still have a warranty and when they are maybe a third of the price its well worth it in my books

      • Yeh, the batteries. They definitely won't last. If you got it from ebay, goodluck with the warranty claims… also I tried using the aftermarket batteries in the tools that required more power, ie. Electric chainsaw, angle grinder, it kept overheating because it couldn't handle it. Just my recommendation, as you be rrally frustrated later on as the batteries life gets worse. Also the scarifier is supposed to use the HP batteries for better performance. I'm still looking into getting one, my local bunnings has agreed to sell it to me for 299 instead of the current 349. I'm trying to justify it! Would you recommend?

        • Great bit of gear, i tried a friends before i bit the bullet, i put off buying one for ages myself and glad i can stop looking at them every time i go to bunnings lol. I did a pretty light run with the scarifier on 400sqm of my turf in a single charge with 2x 6AH batteries

My mate had a set of genuine batteries and a set of aftermarkets, no difference in output or run time, just very slow charging with the genuine charger, i feel they make the chargers as slow as possible to motivate people to buy more batteries and chargers….

So ive only bought aftermarket batteries and charger, and if i only get a few years out of a set and the warranty is a drama thats not a big deal, they are very cheap

An Ozito 5Ah battery is currently $100, not that you can get them, our bunnings doesnt have a single Ozito battery in stock. You can get 3 Ryobi 5AH's batteries delivered for that price in a few days

            • @cheapass88: Thanks I saw that, ive been in at bunnings nearly every day or two over he last week, no stock, no specials, no nothing for us :-(
I just had an ozito battery die and contemplating taking it back for warranty, however last time i did that i had to take the battery, the tool and the charger, i think ill just bin it as its was only a 2AH job anyway

              • @billdsl: I heard it depends on the store/staff.

Not good for environment, but why not for the latest tool haha.

                • @cheapass88: Yeah i think i got stuck with a numpty last time, was pretty annoyed

I dont throw batteries in the bin, i collect all of ours and drop them into the recycling centre when i go to the tip, ive even started collecting oils, paints and metal to recycle at the tip as well. Dont tell anyone though, it almost sounds like I care about the environment

                  • @billdsl: I'm going to have to blame you. I have the scarifier sitting in my house now. How often do you use it? I heard early spring is best, but i just missed it and really want to use it haha

I think you could look into Milwaukee to Ozito 3D printed adaptors. Pretty sure there are files on thingverse. You can then get 3rd party milwaukee batteries for pretty cheap (even up to 9aH batteries)

I don't think anyone has made a Ryobi to Ozito adaptor due to Ryobi's 'post' connection. The battery would be epic-ly long once you factor in the adaptor.

  • Out of curiosity - which aftermarket Ryobi batteries are you using that worm well? I'm looking for some.

It’s probably cheaper to buy a new drill with batteries than buy batteries alone. I’ve done similar with Ryobi. Good price on tool plus battery at times. Buy it, then sell extra tools.

  • Important for others to consider when buying 18v tools. I’m not stuck with a useless ancient Aldi “Taurus” set including drill, recipro, jig saw, circular saw. Yeah I have the skill to swap the cells if bought from eBay however cells test fine- BMS has failed on my two batteries. Such a pain! I’m buying Ryobi next month.

Don’t forget Ryobi is Bunnings exclusive. Means you are unlikely to get sales or discounting. Also makes getting repairs or parts that little bit more difficult assuming Bunnings decide not to stock things.

I have Ryobi and bought quite a few skins second hand. Also started using a lot more than expected, so in hindsight should have gone with a more premium brand. Ryobi is decent enough though.
